The venue was chill and in a cool location. The concert tickets were cheap and the old original decor is retained. However, if you haven any intention of listening to the band, find a different venue. The two times I've seen a show there the sound quality was awful. If the frontman hadn't told us what song it was, it would be almost impossible to figure it out just by trying to hear the bad play. Honestly worst acoustics and sound I've heard from any concert venue I've been to.

This place is horrible! Tonight the security took advantage of there power and physically asalted Skate Maloley! A security guard was hurting a fan and Skate tried to stop him. When he did 2 security guards came up and threw him to the ground! He was then tassed and kicked multiple times over his body! If you are preforming or going to a concert at Webster Hall cancel it now!!!
Mixed feelings about this place. Pros: Large venue with freedom to roam the floor or the balcony. Lounge/ bar area downstairs by the bathrooms where you can still hear the music and watch from screens. Average beer prices. Good sound and light production. Security thoroughness is average. Good location, easy to get to. Cons: Excruciating lines. I have been stuck in entry lines that wrap around the block, even an hour+ after doors opened. THEN once inside, I had to wait almost 40 minutes to check my coat. It seems like their staff/ organization is just really sloppy. I've also had experiences where staff is very short-tempered and rude, either yelling or pushing past, unprovoked.
Worst club in Manhattan. Came here for a concert one night and waited on a line which was incredibly long. I heard how terrible Webster was from friends and from how it has the reputation of being one of the worst clubs in NYC. It was over packed to the point where I didn't feel safe because there were too many people and the staff is well basically non existent. Bouncers and security outside but once you're inside there was no one besides bartenders, no security or anything. Don't waste you're time here.
Nice stop to go for events, just make sure to wear comfortable shoes, it get very slippery on those floors. If you fall that means it's time to go home
The redone space is lovely. I've been here before and it's really a great improvement. Looks like the Marlin room as we ok now it is gone or will be relocated downstairs, in the studio space. Bars have been updated. There's an elevator should you need one, and there's now a few wide staircases to facilitate crowds exiting. There's also a nice merch nook.
The first time I went Webster hall studio last night, I met a security guy with dark color skin who was extremely rude to me. I went there alone and he asked me for my ID, I showed it to him but he did not trust me and asked for my passport. I understood that since my photo on ID was took many years ago and didn't look like me. He kept asking me my age and said things sarcastically in front of a huge line. Then I was looking for my passport photo for him on the phone as he said, when I showed it to him, he ignored it at all and still humiliated me. He even took my phone without my permission and looked over all my photos in my photo albulms and judged me. who gave him right to do this This made me so angry! For the whole time I was being polite to him. He was not trying to prove my age but being incredible condecending. When he saw all the Facebook passport photos and id card that can prove my age he felt too shameful to admit he was wrong. He did not appologize for his action at all. Because there was a long line behind me I didn't want to waste other people's time to argue with him. I HOPE HE SHOULD KNOW HOW RUDE HE IS.
It's ok. Besides getting grabbed and violated in inappropriate places on the 1st level floor by disgusting losers, ummm your experience varies by the floor you're on. Upstairs is the best place to go. Everyone is chill and cool. Avoid the 1st floor!!
I literally only came here when I was 19. And that was only ONCE. I don't know, maybe it was an off day. But, I did not have a good time. Although it has different floors with themes and music, but the music was horrid and unidentifiable on 3 of 4 floors. Even the hip hop room was bad. They were playing songs from early 2000's (cue Hot in Herre) and it never got recent. On top of that, there are creepy old men lurking around 19 year olds. Gross. Not coming here, when there are so many better options.
This place is always incredibly packed, and the music is always awesome. Fun to dance too. The wait at the bar is a little too long for my liking, but otherwise this is an awesome night club. The drinks are expensive, but that's expected in NYC.
Cramped space, smelled of piss. Staff was helpful for the most part until the the show we attended ended and the "club scene" started, at which point we were treated quite disgustingly, as if we weren't paying customers and hugely inconvenient pests that needed to be expelled.
I just went to a concert and I just witnessed terrifying things. I hate it. They beat the performer for reaching out to a fan. It's security needs to get fixed up
Barrier in the main room is kinda bummer but to be expected these days. Security is polite, fair and professional. Bathrooms are always clean and attended. Drinks are cold and served quickly by bar staff that are professional and quick. All in all good venue.
Like most places, it's fine. Some jaded holier than thou staff, pretty cool rooms, and expensive drinks. Solid shows get booked here. If you go to more than one show a year you know the kind of place I'm talking about. That's it. It's fine.
Great old school venue that's a wee bit smaller than Terminal 5 by 10x better is style and setup. The aroma of herb is constantly countered by a profuse amount of incense. The bathrooms are nicely managed and the staff keeps a good eye on what's going down. The bars are well placed and appointed and the prices are what you'd expect from a great music venue. Great location to catch a bite before or after the show too.
Webster Hall is a landmark that anyone should visit at least once. The multi-level dance floors and overall atmosphere are really unique. Diverse crowd too mixed with locals and tourists. Unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired as bars are chronically understaffed leaving bartenders overwhelmed. Bouncers are unnecessarily aggressive too and I saw covers being inconsistently charged. Things tend to become more manageable after 2:30, if you stay out late.
Always lit on Thursdays Ladies Night, a lil ratchet for the city but everyone doesn't want to wear heels all the time and get all dressed up to sweat. Definatly a place to go if your mad bored and want to have fun with friends and drink with no cares or discrimination (mixed crowd)
Nice venue for the size show we went to, Drive By Truckers. We haven't seen them for a while due to multiple reasons. But we hadn't seen our NY buddy in a while either.
So the show was good, early enough for me to get to bed at a reasonable hour. Didn't have to stand in line for hours and then wait hours for the band to go on.
No craziness were it was so packed that it was almost impossible to go to the bathroom. No pushing from the hordes of people wanting to get to the rail.
Overall I would have to say this was a pretty good show for the band and I feel the venue helped.
Of course at the end the staff immediately tells you to leave and starts cleaning. Again the floor was not super wet, super sticky or super disgusting...like it normally is.
The only odd thing for me besides the politics from the band...no surprise just disappointing. Is that the bathroom is unisex. It is a large room not enclosed with 5 or 6 stalls for whomever to use. Some sinks and an attendant to provide paper towels, etc... I don't have any problems with this, it is just my first coming from a small town.
Venue is really nice. There are hardly any other venues that I have visited that come close to being this well designed. The guy at the merch stand was pretty upset when I didn't have any cash to pay for my merch, don't think he was with the venue but with the band, so it does not affect the rating.
For years, Webster Hall used to be my Thursday night playground. I love it here!
I just went back last week, after many years - it's under new management. Gone was the downstairs dance room it seems, all the fun is upstairs in the main room. The balcony that night was VIP only. The sound system is good, but didn't seem as great as I remember. The drinks are $20-$30, so have a big wallet ready if you're going to drink to have fun. Not sure what was up with the floor, but it was so incredibly sticky I could barely unstick my feet off of it to dance. Sad, because the DJ was GREAT.
In other news, it seemed like all the beautiful young of NYC were gathered here to dance, and the vibe was a good one.
Always a good time at Webster Hall. The ballroom is one of the best for live music. Catch a local show downstairs or a crazy event on a weekend! 90s prom is also a must once in your life.
A pretty good experience over all. Although, I wasn't happy with the security guy yelling at me when they were letting people in and doing the security check. When people are going in they keep no organization what so ever. I don't even know why we were all in a line to begin with. It was way too chaotic and they weren't telling anyone what was going on. It was my first time there, so I was not familiar with exactly how they do their security checks. It appeared that they were doing pat downs with separate "lines" for men and women. I move to wait behind the woman the security guard was checking then. Another security guard puts his hands up in front of me and starts yelling, "no, no, no, just wait here!" If I had wanted to be yelled at by some bratty kid who thinks he has more power than he really does, I would have stayed home with my kids. He could have said, politely, "please, wait here." Anyway, other than the chaotic entry and ridiculous security guard, the venue seemed fairly nice. They could probably use more lighting in the stairways. The view from the balcony was good and the sound was decent. Overall, it is a good small place for a show and I'd probably return in the future despite the rude security guard.
Saw Halsey here two nights in a row right after it reopened and it was a such an amazing experience!!!!! Get there early to get a good spot, definitely worth it!
I have been to four concerts here. One was great. The rest were crap. The sound is almost always terrible. It takes a special kind of disregard to make some of the most talented acts that pass through New York sound like utter noise. They seem to manage it, though. I will not be dropping $60+ on tickets here again only to leave after the second song.
It's Webster Hall. Iconic New York City music venue that is as fun as it is (sometimes) trashy, but in a good way. You will be coming back. Unfortunately, though, not anymore, as it has closed down. :( Great memories here.
This was formerly, "The Ritz" music hall and dance club, which was popular in the 1980s. When this was a performance theater at the turn of the century and 1920's, magician Harry Houdini performed here. Now open, renovations have been completed.
I was here to see Midnight Oil and I arrived early in the hopes that I could get a seat. I have bad knees and it is difficult for me to stand for hours on end. When I got there I found out there are no seats at all on the main floor. I did manage to find a corner I could lean up against for most of the show. The sound was great. The drinks however were insanely over priced. I knew they would be expensive, but $16 for a gin and tonic with well gin seems excessive.
I always have an enjoyable experience at Webster Hall. Good sound quality, are able to view the stage from all angles (even if you're short like me) and easy access to the bar. While it is a smaller venue, it's intimate atmosphere brings everyone together to enjoy the bands they love.
Ive been to many concerts and this place is a place where you can go and party. There are three areas of music so one can explore other music if the need arises. The place is dirty, unfortunately, and some of it is extremely outdated yet at the same time the downstairs area is a bit more futuristic with its giant screen. I expect no less from a place that is as popular as this.
I had an amazing time seeing Men I Trust here!!! The venue is large and has a balcony area. At least at this show they didn t bother with a VIP area which I appreciate a lot. Also worth mentioning is that the beer and mixed drink my friend and I got came out to $20, which is definitely a decent price for a venue in Manhattan. I ll come here again if I find another great band coming
Went here to see Kip Moore and 1000 Horses. The sound is awesome (a little overwhelming if you're standing near the stage to the left or the right). The vocal mic is, of course, a little bit too low, but overall, you can pretty well hear what's going on. It does take forever to get a drink, but the specials are pretty nice (6$ honey jack drinks!). All in all, great place to see a concert.
An experience into the nightclub scene is worth it from when I went here in the 90's! The liveliness of the whole place made everyone a fixture in time! There were table games to be had to and the staff was not out to ruin your night out on the town, no pressure here!
Don't be reliant on Webster Hall's Guest List - Especially if you plan on using it on a Saturday! I celebrated my 21st birthday party at Webster Hall. Prior to going to going there, I was told numerous times by their customer service that I would be able to use the guest pass on June 7th. Long story short, tickets ran out, the guest pass was never available for that date, some of my guests had already purchased tickets - while others were reliant on the guest pass, and the customer service reps. refused to give me a refund. I was highly upset. After speaking with a Representative, who was very nasty and rude - I spoke to the manger - which is why I am giving Webster Hall such a good rating. The management is great! They helped me out, and made sure that I was taken care of! I am so appreciative of them and even more grateful that they took the time to listen, understand, and rectify my situation. I would have given them 5 stars for their customer service, but because of one bad egg in the bunch, I have given them 4 stars. Its sad how one person can ruin such a great review! Thank you Webster Hall!
AWFUL, club's security is filled with assholes that just kick you out for no reason at all. Both me and my girlfriend were kicked out for no reason and were not let back in.
This club was my favorite one in NYC. It had several different floors, each one came with different style music genre. One floor was for house music, one for hiphop, one for dubstep etc. The security check at the door made it feel safer there. Drinks were pricey, but thats everywhere in NYC, it costs $30 to get in, whitch was kinda pricey. What comes to dress code there were everything from casual to fancy. Girls were wearing dresses, heels, some were wearing more basic clothes. If you are looking for club this is the place to go.
