God has left this building. You have to PAY to enter this house of god. I ve been to religious temples and churches around the world, many much older and just as beautiful, with rich histories. Never had I ever had to pay to enter. Many times when I enter these sacred places, I sit and reflect. I cannot do that here. Their reason for the entrance fee is to repair earthquake damage. Money is no issue for me, but it is for many people. I would have gladly donated in a donation box. National Cathedral has turned to another tourist trap for me. If you're poor or on a limited income, visit on Sundays, it's FREE.
Seeing in person versus pictures is a must. Awesome
It is a monument to architecture, to the majesty of creation. Worthy of a town like the USA
It is a gorgeous architectural design! Please check Pictures for amenities
Do the behind the scene tour before its gone,.worth every cent. Excellent tour and amazing building.
Beautiful church, most gorgeous church ive ever seen.
Highlights tour is 30 minutes. Beautiful building. Mix of religious and national iconography
Normally Sunday 1-4pm is free for visit. Can check online for special closing times. A lot of the areas are open to public which can spend 1-2hr inside. Totally worth a visit.
Full of history. Bush and McCain's funerals were held here. MLK spoke here 4 days before he was assassinated. Very beautiful.
Inspiring architecture. The stained glass windows are beautiful and diverse in their styles. We heard part of an organ concert, and loved the acoustics. There was an art exhibit throughout the crypt exploring contemporary issues of racism. We also walked in the gardens and enjoyed different dimensions of the cathedral. Spend time here and let your senses be filled!
Take the behind the scenes tour! Highly recommend it. Beautiful architecture. Must see if visiting DC.
Beautiful, calm, relaxing place with impressive architecture and absolutely stunning stained glass!
Beautiful building and grounds albeit a bit off the tourist track (i.e. away from the Mall)
It is really nice but the admission fee is expensive
Nice architecture, but if you want to see the faces of Darth Vader you do need binoculars! It was so cool!
Breathtakingly beautiful. The Christmas concert we attended was awe inspiring.
Stunning cathedral, exquisite music, warmly welcoming, a place of hope and community for all.
So incredibly beautiful. The kids loved the playground.
So beautiful. We went up to the top floor and the views of the architecture were wonderful. The stained glass windows are lovely. We went to look for Darth Vader outside and a nice employee helped us find him.
I lived over the road for 3.5 years. Great place. Miss the view.
This is a wonderfful, though slightly odd, cathedral. It looks and feels as an old building, while it was built the previous century - hence the Darth Vader gargoyle and such. Great views of the city.
Came for a morning service with my fiance. We felt very welcomed. Inclusive and friendly environment where you will feel very comfortable. The building itself is beautiful and well worth visiting. The windows are particularly impressive. Easy to park here and it was free for the service. Whether you go to worship, or just enjoy the architechture, this is a great place to visit while in the DC area.
Stunning! Even compared to the cathedrals I gave seen in Europe, WNC is impressive and quite beautiful!
I came here to see Helen Keller. the Cathedral was closed. I was able to take photos from the outside. this place looks amazing..couldnt stop staring
Amazing architecture and size of structure. Lots of historical information. Give yourself time to take it all in. At least 90 min.
The security is bad, they robbed me and I broke the glass of the truck.
Are we guilty of doing the same thing ISIS is criticized for - destroying art that represents something we no longer believe in or want to believe? All Americans are against slavery and it is a sad part of our history, however a few people have used the Southern flag to represent something wrong. For a Southerner the flag represents the South, not hatred. It is tragic that a few sick people use the Southern Flag to represent their hatred.
Beautiful location, one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever visited
Basic monument sight. Expected less commercial fund raising activity for house of prayer.
Very beautiful cathedral that accepts persons of all faiths. Built mostly in the gothic style by hand beginning in 1907. While having religious themes, there are several important historical events incorporated into the cathedral as well. For example, the 1st orbit of the moon and our branches if government are depicted in the stain glass windows. It's a $12 cost to tour on your own, but the guided tours occur at no additional cost once you are in. Tour guide was very well informed and polite. We were able to tour several chapels and a 7th floor observatory. Don't miss this on your visit to DC.
We watched the Holiday Light Spectacular event. The show was fantastic. We attended the Holy Eucharist Jan. 1st 2020. I am impressed with this cathedral.
A culturally rich Palm Sunday liturgy, "Motzart's Requiem" complete with an awesome orchestra and stunning soloists was performed at the National Cathedral on April 14 ,2019. Arriving early allowed easy access to advanced purchase tickets, a walk around splendid gardens and choice close by street parking.
It's like being in Europe, free wifi, bathrooms and water source
Beautiful cathedral , I'm absolutely impressed with the structural and the details that was put in . This place is fascinated, huge and very memorable.
Didn't get an opportunity to go inside. Outside architecture is beautiful
Is the Washington National Cathedral...great view of the city from the top. There is a charge per visitor.
Neo-Gothic style cathedral Dimensions very similar to Notre Dame without gargoyles
I have visited the Washington National Cathedral twice so far, both on Sunday morning. Every time I have visited, I have noticed new features that I didn't notice during my last visit. I would love to visit this place again!
I was suprised by the very rude and impolite reception I received! It was not a pleasant experience. Which is shocking to me, because I have heard such good reviews about it. I would recommend they replace their very impolite and unreceptive staff.
Standing in front made me feel infinitesimal. The beauty is spectacular. The symbolism sometimes a bit abstract but nonetheless important. Was able to spot the Darth Vader Grotesque as well. To far for a clear photo.
Beautiful space inside the building and outside. The cathedral itself has so many nooks and crannies that I still don't think I've seen all of it but it is always fun to walk around. The staff is helpful and there is also a very large gift shop. Went to some of events and they are well organized.
Beautiful stained glass windows. The volunteer guides were quite knowledgeable. There's a lot of history represented here. There's even a piece of the actual moon in one of the stained glass windows! Quite remarkable.
The cathedral will never get old. It is a must see if you have never been.
Awesome view cool to look at awesome back story love it
I love this awesome place. It was very beautiful and great architecture design.
The architecture is amazing. Spend $2 to put a LEGO on the Cathedral they are building out of LEGOS.
Do you like big buildings? How about big COOL buildings? This ones pretty great. It can be a little tough to find times to get inside, but when you do it's classic cathedral awesomeness.
They also do cool events, like last night they did a light show inside the cathedral (see the picture).
One of the downsides is that the tower is in perpetual repair and has scaffolding on it - but whatever - win some, lose some, at least it's still standing
Oh, also, they have a gargoyle that's actually Darth Vader. Nuff said.
Imposing the National Cathedral. Full of history and solemnity. And the Bishop's garden is a charm.
Held my second funeral here in the Bethlehem chapel. What a very impressive Cathedral. Also, they have a Chapel to St. Joseph of Ameratheous who is the Patron Saint of the Funeral Director. He is the one who owned the Thomb in which Jesis was entombed until his Resurrection.
Should be preparing entrance fee, adult is $12, child is $8, sometimes, Free on Sunday
Fantastic! Like visiting a Gothic cathedral in Europe.
A Titan, on par with all the very best of its European counterparts.
Very spectacular building. Just walking around it had a whole different feeling to it. Doors were closed so I wasn't able to see the inside. But I will be going back!
Not a good policy to offer ticket sales but not an annual membership when you visit!
This cathedral is beautiful inside and outside. Its building is majestic and imposing. On the seventh floor is the observatory. There was a display of cribs of the baby Jesus from different countries. The stained glass windows and floors are beautiful. I recommend visiting this site in Washington DC and you have to pay to do the tour, students and teachers are half price and adults $ 12.I took a lot of photos.
Beautiful! I was here with a friend watching a screening and panel discussion on Race Relations. Do The Right Thing! A Spike Lee classic.
