They talk a bid game but when the money stops they stop. My sister was sent there from Another hospital they said they would help her but a week later they are sending her home knowing full well that no one is physically able to take care of her.. They talk about caring but it just goes to show all they care about is the money...

I stayed with my sister at Wake Forest for exactly one month. She was on the 6th floor room 616 until she was moved to ICU for her last 2 days. She died 3 days after coming home.I had no problem with any of the doctors there, they were all great. The problems I had were with the cna s and one nurse in particular. Her name is Brook and her cna was Karen.I realize this will do no good because they all cover each other but maybe some of you will keep in mind these 2 if ever your loved one is on that floor.Karen,to say the least was incompetent. My sister had diarrhea and she let her lay in it 5 hrs. The Dr.plainly told me not to let that happen because it burns her.She would cry out in pain.I asked another cna to help me and she did(bless her) Then Karen proceeded to tell me not to ask someone else to do her job.She was very rude and I went to Brook her superior and she did nothing but defend her. These 2 and a few others have given this hospital a bad name.I would like to thank the ones that had a caring heart because there were many. Why can t this hospital fire ones like this when they are rude to family members as their loved ones are dying? Please ask the name of your nurse and cna,as I am telling you the truth.
I called to pay my monthly payment of more than $160 and they took it out twice. Still trying to get it reversed and I have had to call twice. This sucks. I won't do this again.
Our son got in to a car accident and died at the scene this hospital would not allow us to identify our sons body and told us that was the police job we were told he was an examiner case its been 3 days sense we were told he was dead and still haven't seen him no matter what he looks like he is our son and just wanted to identify him ourself.... Staff lied to us the very moment we walk in and told us our son wasn't there then told us that we could view our sons body the next day... This is by far the worst thing I ever had to go though and Baptist Hospital made it worst THEY DON'T CARE !!!!
I was thoroughly unimpressed by the demeanor of the nuses and nurse staff who took care of my father during his stay on the 6th floor of the Ardmore tower. Just the attitudes they exuded and the sheer annoyance they displayed at being asked for an update on your loved one is ridiculous. There was absolutely no compassion for their patients or their families, and as a HCP myself, I was completely and utterly appaled at the lack of people skills they possess. For this to be considered such an amazing facilty, they may want to either invest in better quality employees or retrain the callous and unreceptive ones they already have in patient and family relations. Disappointed is a grand understatement.
I am giving Wake Forest a two start rating because of the automated phone system, not because of poor health care. As a medical professional I have the responsibility to retrieve medical records and images for our surgical team at the facility I work for here in Charlotte. I call hospitals, imaging centers and doctors offices throughout the United States to request images and medical records. Wake Forest is the worst and the operators are of no help. The automated system will transfer you and then give you a number to call, which no one answers "Please leave a voice mail". really!
I am not fond of judgemental people. I can say most of the medical staff is courteous. But I absolutely feel as if family was misdiagnosed as well as judged by looks. They made my other half feel completley uncomfortable and discrimination isn't the word to use. If you work in the medical field you cannot judge apon appearances and or your opinion. Also in the medical field it is not only inappropriate but unprofessional to exhibit attitude to any client. It's also pretty illegal. My other half really needed this rehab program but felt so uncomfortable with one staff member getting literally in his face we've decided to discontinue use of this facility. You shouldn't be at a job for a paycheck, especially when your dealing with patients who are recovering from being critically ill.
My daughter is here for a brain trauma injury. Everyone has been great. Thank you to the trauma staff, surgical staff, and the ICU staff. As well as all the nurses and doctors involved in her care.
Plain awful. I brought my newborn son in after an unplanned homebirth. The staff (pediatric emergency room) we encountered were mostly patronizong and made us feel very uncomfortable... what a breath of fresh air that was! I had just given birth to our son and just LOVED being scrutinized! My husband and I were glad to be out of there.
In the time that I have been in the waiting room, I have seen no one move. There are only five patients including me. A man is BEGGING for help because is colostomy bag is overflowing. I have been sitting next to someone's urine that they will not remove for over an hour. And they are very aware of it too!! I have seen some very sick people get up and leave. There is a man bleeding profusely here and SEVERAL very sick people. None of us have been helped for hours! This is insane! DO NOT COME HERE!!! IF YOU WANT HELP YOU WON'T GET IT HERE!!
WARNING! Medicare fraud, if you have Medicare you WILL be given the run around, your questions WILL NOT be answered, you WIll BE trapped in this hospital for days with NO clue what is going on, and procedures will be scheduled but NEVER done, the food is beyond horrible, the floors are sticky, and filthy, complete lack of security, any one can wander around anywhere. I have NEVER seen a hospital like this, we were horrified when we arrived to see my mother as her condition was worsening, and the lack of communication between staff and doctors was like the story's you only see in the news. I cannot stress enough to PLEASE, for your loved ones to do research, deep research for reviews such as this one are buried deep.
After my boyfriend was paralyzed in a car accident he was transferred here. They took very good care of him and were so sweet. They made his life as easy as possible from what I saw He said later he made some great friends while being in there. As far as how thorough they are, I wouldn t really know.
I have received virtually all of my medical care at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for the past 6+ years in over a dozen separate departments, and I can't say enough good about the facility, it's medical providers & staff, & the level of care & competence throughout the system. The people of the Piedmont are blessed & fortunate to have a teaching hospital & clinic of this caliber in their midst. For yeaes its been rated among the top 100 medical facilities in the nation, & its no wonder. The WF motto couldn't be more appropriate: A mission to cure...a mission to care. I am really grateful for the professional & compassionate care I've always received there.
With everything I ve heard about COVID-19 and elderly I was scared to go to the hospital. But my experience with the Cardiologist Floor the 7 th floor on admire gave me Faith in Doctors again. I felt very blessed to have everyone from nurses to Doctors to the anesthesiologists an I don t want to leave the CNA s out. You all were so understanding and gave me the best . Love and thanks to all of you!!
I had an appt here and all went ok. They scheduled me for surgery the following week. Surgery was 3 hours late. I had a colon cleanse the day before so no food since 12 Thursday. It s Saturday and all I ve had is broth. They have given me more laxatives and there s nothing in there. I m cramping like crazy pushed the call button it s been 4 hours the nurse hasn t come yet. If my husband wasn t here idk what I would do. I m in so much pain from the cramping and they won t listen to me at all. I ve heard this is the best hospital ever but I beg to differ.
Worn, old, confusing. I had a bad experience and am pulling my body donation in favor of Duke. Just a messed up, low caliber place in general. Lots of good employees but infrastructure, rooms, technology old and in disrepair. I won t be back. Promise.
In my opinion their arrogance, inattention to detail, low staffing, inadequate pharmacy damn near killed me. Closest I have come to death. All preventable, all ignored.
Had 5 of 5 wake Forest Baptist university doctors. Either the school graduates bad doctors or wake Forest is NOT a good medical facility. Take your choice.
Some of the staff and nurses were very rude, almost seemed detached to my son which had major surgery and had a great deal of pain and stayed for many days after the procedure. I was more than a little hurt and surprised considering the reputation of the hospital. We surely felt like bothersome patients. Not much of a caring staff to small childen in the pediatric unit.
Thank you to ICU staff my dad is doing better they are taking very good care of him he is now in Reynolds Tower .The Nursing staff are wonderful answering any ? I had as well as patients Care
Multiple bad experiences here. Most recent being today. Patient needed to use the restroom after surgery. Paged the nurse and let her know...waited 20 minutes and took her myself. Not once having a nurse come in the room to assist her to the restroom! I found blood that wasn't the patients or my own in 2 separate places in the room, one of which was ON THE BED!!!! That is sooo unsanitary and disgusting!!!! Way to make sure the room was clean for a patient who is highly susceptible to illness! Made me livid!
The worst emergency room I've ever been to waiting time was well over 5-6hrs just to get into triage, the staff and security are extremely rude especially in registration, I've asked for a parking pass still didn't get one, Waiting area was filthy including the bathroom. I wouldn't recommend going to the ER here ever very unprofessional.
Ruby Ramirez the pharmacist here, is extremely racist against white people, I heard her conversation about a guy wearing a maga hat, after he left the room I heard her calling him a white trash Honkey, and wish she didn t have to serve his kind
My son found out he had liver failure and has been going to Wake for 4 months now. Each time he goes in the ER, he has a doctor tell him "He dying! YES we know this, we are trying to fight! My son wants to stay alive! I was with him one night about a month ago and this doctor for the ER came in and told him he didn't have long and he needed to talk to the Chaplain!" and sign up for hospice! Then later she came in and said she looked at his chart wrong! Just last week he went to the ER without me and the supervisor over the ER got his to sign a DNR! What The Hell! My son is trying to fight for his life and they are trying to get him to give up! What kind of doctors are these?! The reason for doctors are to help us not help us give up! Yes my son is sick, but he still wants to fight! I always heard this hospital was the best, now I find out it the worst! No compassion! Don't go to Wake Forest, unless you are wanting to give up! Then they will help you!!!
They was able to save my son life. He was born at 23 weeks at Forsyth Medical Center and they gave up on him and sent me to Baptist and my son is now 7 Years old and strong as ever. Thanks Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center .
I am a patient at WFBH. Dr. Charles Branch did surgery on my back in 2003. I was very satisfied with my care at that time. I was also diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2003. In 2010, I was referred to Dr. Haq in the Movement Disorder Center, Dept. of Neurology to see if was a candidate for a DBS (Deep Brain Stimulator). Once I got the okay, Dr. Tatter, Neurosurgery, preformed the surgery to insert the DBS. Since the surgery, Dr. Haq has been following me. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Haq, and the entire team in the Movement Disorder Center. I always receive excellent care. I have, and will continue to refer patients to WFBH.
I rate the children's emergency/department 4 stars because of the nurses but the adult emergency is TERRIBLE. The waiting period is RIDICULOUS. There is an elderly woman waiting here since 1PM with constant throwing up and all of us have been waiting here for HOURS just to get a bed and get checked out. Baptist is alright for children but FIX THE PROBLEM WITH YOUR ADULT ER!
The staff at Wake Forest Baptist Health endure a lot. From irritable patients to people who are constantly in pain and can't help it. Yet their providers and nurses go above and beyond to deliver excellent care to both patients and their families. I had neurosurgery in 2010 and the attention of the doctors, nurses, and receptionists was something I will never be able to thank this organization enough for!
I cannot believe this place!!! Apparently since they have taken over Wataugua hospital they bill two separate and they DO NOT TELL YOU!!!! So even though I received a bill from the hospital I received NO BILL from wake forest and no cell phone message as they said. Now I am in collections for a bill I didn't even know I had! I hate this place and the care they provide in Boone! The WORST PLACE EVER!!!! I wouldn't be surprised if they have multiple malpractice law suits!
When Wake takes over small practices, customer service at those practice generally goes downhill. I'm now searching for a new doctor after being at Thomasville Family Practice for eighteen years. When Wake bought Cornerstone there were going to be no changes according to Wake. Which of course was nonsense, or just an outright lie. The providers and most staff are still nice people but Wake's policies and their profit over patient model make it hard for them to keep a family atmosphere. It's all about how many patients can be seen. More patients=more money
My brother-in-law was sent to the emergency room by his family doctor. He has liver problems. He was in severe pain. He had a fever. The E.R doctor there told him because his platelets were too low & his potassium was too high they couldn't do anything for him. They said he needed an operation but Medicare wouldn't pay for it so they sent him home. What happened to caring about patients? Shouldn't the doctor find out why platelets are low & potassium is high & fix it?
Absolute worst service in the ED. Don t go in an actual emergency if you want to live. They had people waiting who were bleeding, passing out, and with neck braces on for hours. My sister arrived by ambulance at 12:00 pm and they are still in the emergency room (not an actual room) now at almost 11:00 pm running tests .
Oh my gosh Im having similar problems with CMC in Charlotte NC and I was going to switch to Baptist but after reading the reviews no way. My God what hospital has excellent service
I was 13 years old and i had cellulitus is my nose and half my face was swollen the infection had almost spreaded to my brain which could kill me very easily and i nearly cussed three of the nurses out because they was all sitting there staring and laughing at me and never gave me any respect and im just sayin right now you should pick a better hospital than this one especially if you want to be respected while your in severe pain and people are going to laugh at you so yeah find a better hospital
Went through triage over 2 HOURS AGO. Still have yet to go back to the actual emergency room. Do yourself a favor, go anywhere else if you need to be seen.
I have NEVER left a review for anyplace but the front desk does NOTHING to help you. I tired to find out where my dad's was and the front desk did nothing to help me. 6 people was up front just standing around and when I ask her to help she did nothing. I wasn't ruse I was just trying to find where my dad was located. She then called 3 officers to help me locate him. Never will i ever come back here!
Top tier hospital, tested for covid. Received amazing service up to, during and after the multiple surgeries I have had here. Very professional staff from the receptionist up to the surgeons. Multiple safety checks, treatment options are always presented. Strong follow up by the doctor's team/doctor. Synchronization/communication between departments such as my oncology and surgery are flawless. Health care is expensive everywhere, baptist worked with my insurance without me having to do anything other than presenting my insurance card. Easy website to use and review appointments and send view detailed test results; as well as requests appointments. Payments are also easily made on their website. Strongly recommend this hospital and its doctors.
I m writing this at 5am not because I m an early riser but because I m stuck with an 8/10 pain with no meds to help. I normally tell people never to write these kind of things because they don t help but sometimes yelling at the wall is good for you, even if it s only you that hears. My Simple Story Ended up in the local ER with horrible side and back pain which was most likely caused by Gallbladder Sludge. They managed the pain and referred me to a surgeon. Being a good net citizen, I did my research and found that Wake Forest Baptist was rated highest in my area for the surgery I was told I may need. Had to wait a few weeks to be seen but suffered that wait assuming it would be for the best in the long run. Had my appointment on 5/16 with Dr. Clancy Clark and surgery was set for 6/10. Pain is a funny thing when you re not in it for some reason waiting nearly a month didn t seem too bad at the time. Well two acute attacks later and I m calling to see if we can move up that date and if any pain meds can be called in to tide me over. My first call was on Friday morning 5/20 and I had to leave a message for Dr. Clarks Nurse, I never received a call back. My 2nd try was on Monday morning 5/23 and this time talked to scheduling, explained my situation to a very nice women who promised to talk with Dr. Clark and call me back no call came. My 3rd attempt was late yesterday and again went to scheduling because I could actually talk to someone and explained my now lengthening situation. I was put on hold for a few mins and then was mistakenly hung up on. I did receive a call back within a few mins and it was explained to me that they haven t even tried to move up the surgery and won t call in any meds. Apparently Dr. Clark needed a fax from my cardiologist giving his OK before he would look at moving the date. This seems like a reasonable request and I had gotten that approval the prior week but no one told me they needed it in writing or where to even send it if I had. The next item of news was the no pain meds. Apparently the head of the VA is not the only one that thinks waiting for care is like being in line at Disney World. I was told simply that Dr. Clark doesn t prescribe pain meds and I would have to see someone else for that .wow. If this is the kind of pre surgery care you provide, I don t want to find out what post surgery could be like. These may seem like small everyday issues but when you re double over in pain they sure don t seem that way to me. Like any other process, I expected a few bumps and hurdles but this is ridiculous. At every chance a red flag has been thrown and for me to just continue on headless of the warning signs and expect a perfect outcome seems foolish. In my opinion this was a total failure of the Baptist Medical System, from the Dr. Clark to the Nurse and finally customer service. I don t expect, but I do hope that this letter helps kickstart some change in the process. Sincerely Patrick Golimowski
MOST HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE, EVER! IT HAS TAKEN OVER SEVEN MONTHS TO SETTLE MY BILLING SITUATION! THEY SENT ME ONE STATEMENT FOR SERVICES, THEN SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS! NOW ALL I WANT TO DO, IS SPEAK TO THE CEO- JULIE ANN FREISCHLAG OR V.P.'s- KEVIN HIGH, LILICIA BAILEY, TODD BANKHEAD, AND ANTHONY CUNNINGHAM, SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ME IN THE FUTURE, AND THEY ARE AVOIDING ME! IN WHAT WORLD IS THAT AN EFFECTIVE AND POSITIVE PATIENT EXPERIENCE?!
Should be able to put "0" stars!!!!! Horrible COMPANY!!! Not interested in anything but seeing how much they can get away with charging you! Avoid at all costs, because ALL COSTS will come from YOU!!! I'm leaving my Dr that I have been with for 22 years because these Greedy Money Grubbers bought them. What happened to preventing monopolies?!!!!
Worst hospital ever. If you want to have a 7+ hour wait (not exaggerating) just for them to figure out if they're going to keep you or not then come on down to Baptist. Service was hardly moving and hardly any patients were being called and there was people out here in severe pain and casts. What's the deal? Get your crap together.
I had a 2:00pm appointment and arrived at 1:20. I drove front Kannapolis, so I left my house at 12:15. I had my X-rays and sat in the waiting room for FIFTY MINUTES past my appointment time before they finally called me back. I had a very important meeting at 4:45, so I asked the nurse if she thought I could possibly get out of there by 3:30 (this was at 3:00, and a simple consult visit) and she said yeah...probably not .
This is entirely unacceptable and disrespectful to have patients wait for almost an hour. Instead of trying to see as many patients as possible, maybe they should start caring for the quality of care they receive vs. the quantity they see. If you can and are able to receive your healthcare somewhere else, by all means, do it.
Had a large cyst removed from right humerus bone and bone chips put in to strengthen the thinned bone. Few months later I'm in for a second surgery because of a bone infection at the site. Now I got really bad weakness and pain when using my right arm. I can't even hold a cell phone without symptoms. I'll be doing physical therapy to hopefully "re-balance" the area. Surgeries were done by Scott Wildon. If only he had taken the early infection symptoms seriously I would've had a much better outcome. Now my shoulder/upper arm looks deformed and is very problematic.
I have polyps on my vocal cords, I have had 16 surgeries in my throat at several different hospitals and I was referred to here after the hospital in Lenoir was not able to help me. They took wonderful care of me and did a very good job with my surgery and chemo injections and follow up with me regularly. The only thing is waiting for a post op can sometimes take a month for me but I'm sure for more severe cases they get pushed faster
My husband is up there now. He is getting the very best treatment. He started off on Admire Tower til a room in Reynolds got opened, as soon as it was opened, clean and ready they got him up there. EVERYONE I MEAN EVERYONE HAS BEEN PROFESSIONAL, HELPFUL AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ON EVERYTHING THEY HAVE SAID AND DONE TO MY HUSBAND! Not one nurse left him in pain!! The staff is amazing from secretary to doctors. I am so thankful my husband got transferred to WFBMC.
Terrible billing practices. I received 1 bill which indicated my insurance had not been charged. I called and talked to them and was told to wait for another bill (as my visit was covered by my insurance). I never received another bill. Instead they sent my account to a collections agency. My other accounts from the same health episode were all covered no problem though there was a wait on my insurance. This seems a little heavy handed on the part of Wake Forest.
I spent eight days at WFBMC after having an unexpected seizure whilst working as a technical stage volunteer at Merlefest 2017. I found the quality of diagnosis, treatment and general care to be of a very high standard. Not that you should get seriously sick, but if you do, I highly recommend WFBMC
I had MRI on my back and information was sent to Wake Forest Neurology by my family physician approximately a week ago. I never heard anything back about an appointment. I called the Neurology office today and spoke with Stephanie and she said that they had reviewed and finished my information and she would set me up an appointment now. So I had to call to get the appointment - no one ever called me. So she is gathering information - then we get to insurance info and I told her my insurance info and it is a commercial insurance. She said that is not insurance. Well that is all I could see on the card was Benefit Plan Administrators. I ask if she could call my family physician office to get the insurance since she kept saying it was not right. She was rude! She said NO I can not call your doctor! She also said I can not make you an appointment until I get the correct insurance info! My family physician sent all the information and the insurance information to the Neurology office a week prior. So I said ok and goodbye and ended the call. This gave me a bad vibe with Stephanie and WFB Neurology . It appeared to me all she was interested in was money! She was not helpful at all even after I told her I could not see anything else on the insurance card. I have insurance and it pays...well... and Wake Forest Baptist is in the network. Carilion is also in the network so I will attempt to get in with them now. I guess Stephanie didn't want my business. Stephanie in my opinion lacks in customer service skills and was rude.
Multi-billion dollar company that can't afford signs for the parking garages. Terrible service to find where we need to go. They even tried to charge us when we left and gave up. Happy to be by an emergency room... Someone shoot me!
Top notch! WF offers the best care, clean rooms, excellent testing/imaging services in the area. The physicians are very knowledgeable with a caring and professional manner and the nurses are very attentive and focused on providing quality care for their patients. This hospital is a dependable and reliable place when/if you are in need of care-services.
Run from this place we were lied to they couldn t get the insurance right at any point through this thing and they can t get there billing correct either. I was however told that if I had had no insurance they could help waiv some expense but since they had been paid close to 1m they could do nothing I am beginning to see why we have so many dead beats in this country they tend to do a lot better than those of us who try to be productive.
Billing department has managed to lose my electronic payment. Sent copy of cancelled check, still cant find it. Check posted to WFB account on 6 JUN. Cant believe they are still calling me telling the can't find the payment..this isnt the first time either...so loong WFB
My best friend is currently there and just had open heart surgery and the nurses let her call button ring for over 2 hours when she needed to go to the bathroom. Then when she tried to go to the bathroom on her own, fell and cracked her head open, the nurse told her it was her own fault. Do NOT go to this hospital. The nurses obviously do NOT do their jobs.
The doctors in the ER saved my father's life! I had first taken him to the local Thomasville Hospital because of severe bleeding. They sent him home to bleed to death. I had enough sense to take him to Baptist where he was admitted and treated...(bleeding finally stopped later that night). They kept him for several days so he could recover from the loss of blood. I am VERY THANKFUL for Baptist Hospital!!!!
I would not recommend anyone filling/refilling their prescription at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. I called a day ahead for a refill. The system told me to pickup my medicine at around 11:45 am the same day that I called it in. I forgot that the pharmacy closed at 5 pm on the weekend so I go the next morning. I am at the register and I ask her for my medicine at 1000 am the NEXT day and she tells me that it is not ready and that it is still processing. This is the second time that this has happened. The first was submitted by the doctors office. I would suggest that you go somewhere else if you need your medicine, if not, prepare for a long wait in the waiting area...then again you may not get it then.
Second time being here at Wake Forest E.R. and just like the first visit I've never seen such a disfunctional emergency room. Where do they hire their medical staff because I've been to some bad hospitals but never this disfunctional. I was hoping to not to have to come here and wait until I got back to Florida to a real hospital but I had to come here to and spend a fortune on ibuprofen. Wowwwwww remind me never to come to N.C. again
My mother has pressure ulcer wound and the nurse does not reposition her. Most of them forgot why they became nurses/doctors. They are more worried about hr neglect and salary/hourly pay. I see them on M floor than anywhere else.
I was highly disappointed by their lack of professionalism in billing, records transfer, costumer service, and communication. I highly recommend going somewhere else for any of your medical needs.
I am here to see an old friend in the pastoral care organization. It is very sweet to return here to this huge and beautiful hospital. It gave me such insight and formation in clinical pastoral care. It also gave me daily insights into many caring doctors, nurses, and others.
