Worst hospital I've ever been to. Tooth was killing me for 6 hours prior to arriving and then when I got to the ER they made me sit around for 4+ hours. It's not 6:15 I'm the morning and they still haven't taken me to the back...oh but they made sure to get my insurance card and everything, that's all they care about, not your well being
I simply don't understand why, in the Emergency Room, those whom are moving slow, as well as those who are not moving at all, will not assist those who are moving fast and doing all the work to get the patients taken care of:(
Great staff.everyone was great, they took great care of my husband James Sigmon
Waited over 3 hours to be seen, nothing. So i left. Horrible
Was a friend I of mine. And great nursing caring and being a patent being able to have such a great food/Meal chose everyday every meal makes p ppl not mind to eat at the hospital without leaving and spending more money on parking tickets.and 100%Great Children's center. First hospital i know of in north carolina with speciality on children ER and After care.thanks for being a. Asome University's Learning Center without Having Doctors who's ego is large then there IQ That have teams that work together to make the right chooses
I submitted a request for a new appointment and was supposed to receive a call the next business day, but I did not.
Labor and delivery was good! Postpartum and pediatrician was awful! They were rude and did not explain anything and when they did they were very vaque.
Asked to see if my brother was in this hospital but they kept telling me they did not have him, had to keep calling other hospitals till they gave me a number that would help me find out where he was and it was wake forest.
Most disturbing of all medical attention any where. My daughter was seen for a gun shot in her left pinky toe. They sent her home with antibiotics and pain medication. Told her to see her family doctor in a week. It has been less than a week, I took her to her doctor to only be told there was nothing they could do. She has bone fragments in her toe and a open sore but since Baptist did not do there job it has to heal up on it's own. No stitches no straightening of the toe nothing. RIDICULOUS!!!!
The doctors and nurses are amazing! Drove from High Point to make sure my child gets the best care possible.
I came to this hospital at 9pm and didn't get called back till 7am and most the staff from the waiting area was so rude and nasty. I will never go back to this hospital again. If you don't like working in a hospital as a nurse I think you need to find another type of job.
Mutilated my grandmother and then said "Oh it turns out the surgery wasn't necessary, sorry.".
Stay away from this hospital if you value your life.
Why is it that Hospitals have the dirtiest bathrooms with no toilet seat covers.
I had a great experience, had to take my father to emergency. The people are very dedicated and hard worker to make sure he is taken care of. Great service !!!
This place saved my baby sister life....twice. I owe them everything. They really care about the patient not just making money.
Thank you so much
I wouldn't even give it one star that's too rating every doc in this hospital is stright FUBA the nurse are awesome
Was take there after accident. The after care has been nothing but bad. Had most things tranfured to different offices . I don't feel there care was up to par.
The staff and doctors at the Cancer Center are caring, courteous, and candid.
Super bad people skills/communication from a lady at a front desk. Wow. Almost don't care to stay around and see that my acquaintance is ok that bad, this once.
It is holding my grandad there and escorted my mom and grandma out like they were criminals
I ve always heard good things but we have had the worst experience ever at this hospital. My husband had a Baja implant which fell out and then scheduled a second time. We were told to be here at a certain time and Dr. Gandalfi arrived an hour after his scheduled surgery.
One nurse even asked him about his cancer when he doesn t have cancer! They never know what s going on! In fact he came to get medical records and they handed them over without a mention of ID!!!
Great hospital, they save my life, I love all the people working there, very caring and smart.
I had a relatively minor surgery performed by Dr. Mims (ear, nose, throat specialist) and the nursing staff and doctor were all very kind, attentive and professional. The surgery was performed perfectly and I've had no issues in any way.
As an individual who works there and I would think I would get better treatment, here I am in urgent care, because the nurse practitioner only looked at me for 2 min. He was extremely slack and I would encourage others to go to Urgent Care before here. It s sad, how long more will this Hospital treat those who are employed by them like 2nd class citizens. The guy didn t touch me hardly. Sickening. Don t go here please if you re an employee.
My husband was transported to the burn center from the ER in SC because his burns were so severe.. He arrived around 11pm at 3 am they discharged him without any pain meds or antibiotics minimal instructions. He didnt even have a shirt to wear. He was 2 hours from closest family member. Said there was nothing they could do for him. No insurance so out the door they sent him in the middle of the night. No follow up nothing.. I hope they get back as good as they gave.. $ days now and suffering.
The entire hospital from their surgical department to their emergency room and ICU moves slower than I could have ever comprehended a hospital would be capable of. The wait times in their emergency room are crazy and triage seems to work as randomly as the lottery. Most of the hospital shows its age and is in a constant need of cleaning, but nobody ever seems to bother even sweeping the floors. Very disappointing.
My wife had a recurrence of a stroke problem From a week ago. This hospital has gone all to hell. The first major problem. A lady came into her room and took blood. She didn't scan her medical ID or ask her name. Come to find out wrong patient wrong room. She did not have a shower during her stay of 5 days. She used the call button to call nurse to assist her in going to bathroom. 30 minutes later, no show and I took her. A very bad hospital experience..
To be clear. I have 0 complaints with the staff and healthcare providers at this hospital. They are all fantastic with respect to my experience. They get 5 stars!
My reason(s) for the 2 star review is the lack of directional signage within the hospital.
Coming from a smaller town with a smaller hospital, this complex is massive and the hospital desperately lacks clear, consice signs directing you to where you need to be. In my opinion the signs are vague. The staff I questioned for directions we so great and quick to help. However, I'd much rather navigate myself. Adding a layout of the hospital and the best area/level to park to the hospital's website and better signs within the hospital would be a major plus.
**Also, use Google Maps to save where you park.**
My husband has been trying to get in contact with his doctor Tareq Islam for weeks now, he has called and left messages over and over, they never call back. This place doesnt really deserve 1 star!
The research is great. Tawana as NA on 3=11 shift was terrible.
Worst hospital ever. Patients wait to be cares for while nurses check phones and talk about hair. Dirty rooms and patients are left in pain and laying in filth.
Avoid Avoid Avoid this Hospital Network of Physicians if you want to receive care based upon your health needs and not their needs and silly procedures that put their best interest first and not yours. Case in point: if you are in need of seeing your PCP and he/she is out for a few days, vacation or a month or two for other reasons they will not allow you to see another Doctor do to their procedure of only allowing him/her to see you. This means you have to go to Emergency room for something routine so they can charge your insurance more for it.
Saved my sons life twice! Very knowledgeable and compassionate staff
Very terrible, all they care about is your money. My Nana has a hole in her heart. CMC main said they couldn't operate and her condition is terminal. We were referred to Baptist, which is a long 2 hour drive from our place with a woman with a failing heart, and the first visit lasted 10 minutes and the doctor said he couldn't operate. He referred her to a different surgeon is the same hospital and they made an appointment for a TEE. We went for that appointment and when we got there they said they had cancelled it. I kept it together and they "worked her in." Made another appointment for a CT scan and the day before they cancelled it, but called and rescheduled for the following Monday. We showed up 30 minutes early to have the CT done and they said the appointment was cancelled. I tried to talk to her doctor she was supposed to see but he was not there. We drove 2 hours there and 2 hours back for nothing. They canceled because she couldn't afford to pay the cost of the ct scan up front. The staff was very rude and just acts lazy. Dont go if you can get out of it.
I have been a patient at WFBH for over a decade. Due to my medical issues, I have had 28 surgical procedures there. Their ONLY saving graces are Dr. Gregory Waters and Dr. Lisa Cassidy-Vu.
Here's the bad:
The pre-op nurses are a nightmare 98% of the time. If you have any problems with IV placement at all, they immediately get punitive toward you. My husband is a medical professional (and former Baptist employee) and he actually watched a nurse lie and switch out the requested 22 that she told us she was using for an 18 that immediately blew my vein (which she was told it would do). This was for a simple soft tissue abscess drainage that does not require blood products.
On my most recent surgery on April 18, we encountered this nurse again. She was brought in by the nurse that was setting me up after I mentioned my IV placement issues. I again requested the 22, and asked that she please give me a 3 count as she placed it. Both nurses began acting oddly, and the nurse from before started beating on my hand so hard you could hear it echo in the bay. I have fibromyalgia in addition to Crohns so this is particularly painful.
The 2nd nurse leaves, and comes back with a grey box that she says 'will help with the IV'. I wasn't sure if it was a doppler, because it didn't look like one and she didn't use it at first. The 1st nurse (who is STILL beating my hand) pulls out the 22, and my husband moves closer to the foot of the bed to watch. This is the same action she made the previous time when she switched the guage on us. Then, without warning, she jams the IV in. No 3 count as I requested, not gentle, nothing. I burst into tears, as she HURT ME. There is also blood splattered all over the blanket.
The 2nd nurse dips in with something, and pops back after a second, talking about my blood suger being in normal range. I'm still crying and upset, but manage to ask her what she is talking about: I'M NOT DIABETIC.
She responds that she saw insulin needles on my chart. I explain that I am given those for my B12 shots. Her response: 'Oh. Well, I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO READ YOUR MED LIST.'
Again, this was not the ED. This was not an emergency surgery. They simply didn't bother. Now, I'm being billed for an unnecessary test.
I called Service Excellence, and I'm told that it takes up to 45 days to investigate. Then, I get a bill that week.....for a doctor visit from a year ago. I run dual insurance, so I check my EOB online. It says I have no further responsibility. My second insurance is Medicare. I call them and they say WFBH can't legally do this. I report that to billing and they say they will investigate....in 30 days.
30 days later, I check back. Now billing says they are still investigating, but I have an ADDITIONAL bill for a surgery from a year ago.....that the EOBs say (again) that I don't owe. Billing, when questioned, says insurance has up to 2 yearsto pay a claim and that is the reason it is just cropping up now.
EXCEPT THE EOBS SAY WFBH WAS PAID BACK THEN. So what's the real reason?
The real reason is that WFBH wants money to compete with Novant. Just look around the city. It's a competition of who has the bigger health system. It makes the patients suffer. They put up a shiny facade while the interiors look like garbage. They blocked off parking in front of Janeway Surgical Services in November of 2016.....and have done nothing to it in almost 3 years. Some of the research buildings downtown didn't even have usable water because they kept the existing pipes when they renovated the old tobacco buildings. They probably still don't.
And don't forget the scandal from last year with those cancer patients. That doctor was the chair of the Pathology department.
The bottom line is, don't walk....run from WFBH. I am, just as soon as I can. I spent all day trying to sort this mess, and am probably going to spend most of today on it too. Don't land in my shoes.
Nurses are rude! Everyone walks around with an attitude! You will be waiting forever before anyone gives you any information! Don't waste your time here just go to Duke!
If you have options go to Novat health. My son broke his fingers in 2015 and we received over $3000 in medical bills. We set payment plans had everything paid off in a year. Now today almost 2 1/2 years later we get another bill for 500+ dollars and were told that's normal practice. When we called to complain they were rude and gave us no options. They could care less about health all they want is money. It's a shame that's what America has become.
I was brought in by ambulance with severe chest pain. My wait was very short and in no time I was being evaluated. With the initial test showing negative results for heart damage, I was moved to EDU. I was afraid I was being moved to a big waiting room full of wheel chairs, I was delighted to see my big sunny room with a comfortable bed. Many, many test later, I was discharged to go to my regular doctor for esophageal issues. I could not have received better or more compassionate care.
Excellent Hospital, efficient service and support. Highly recommend.
Patient here in psyche floor north tower room 19. Having chest pain for almost an hour nothing done yet. Have histtory of cad and a leaky tricuspid valve. HELP
My son had ear tubes put in back in April and we have been fighting with the business office for coverage since then, getting random bills here and there. The physicians, nurses, and other staff were all extremely helpful and the procedure itself was on time and fast without complications. It was a great experience itself, but having to deal with the billing and insurance offices has been a nightmare. Maybe that's just modern American healthcare insurances for you, but get it together. We just received a duplicate bill for a charge we paid weeks ago (YES they cashed it). Hospital itself is great, but this is half a year later and I can't stand dealing with this billing department anymore. I finally got a hold of someone in billing after I had been forced to leave a voice mail rather than sit and hold for a human to pick up and left a message and they never called me back. So this person says the payment we sent in a month ago was applied to the wrong thing, so she corrected it, and I made her go through the entire history and fix everything to send us one final bill and confirmed nothing else is due. Thank you Karen in billing for finally being the helpful one that will hopefully end half a year of complete incompetence.
Go there for my head aches every 3 months and they are awesome I live in Lexington so up 285 for 30 mintues is worth the drive
The worst of the worst. Rude unknowledgeable staff...their nurses are the worst...i would start by firing entire ER staff, and hire some people with expertise and compassion...every drug OD in the region goes there
Student doctors wet behind the ears ..running a scam with Wilkes ER...just go to Hugh Chatam and if more comprehensive care needed straight on to Forsyth
World class facility with top notch doctors nurses and most supporting staff.
Physician care, knowledge base, expertise, skill level, patient rapport, empathy, and any other quality needed for the making of a qualified professional medical caregiver are not visible or demonstrated in the people who are attempting to practice what they call medicine at Wake Forest Baptist medical center. After two admissions to their facilities, both times transported from a rural hospital for what was supposedly to be improved care, the care given was subpar on all levels. The only department that i could give praise to would be housekeeping who kept the room clean. Nurses did not follow standard of care protocols on many levels. Physicians did not review the chart nor familiarize themselves with the daily response to their treatment before seeing the patient which should be done before entering a patient's room. A lack of respect for the patient as an individual; coordinating the care in response to the entire patient and not just body parts; seeking out answers rather than justifying what they could not find; i could go on. If these are the doctors of our future, we are in deep trouble. The physicians mentoring these interns took no interest in their scope of practice which was evident by the lack of knowledge that was presented by the team that were responsible for my care. Having worked in a teaching facility known for excelling in excellence for many years, i am familiar with the level of expertise that it takes to produce quality medical professionals. Wake Forest falls very short of this mark. I hope i am never in need of extended medical care again. If so, if my only choice is Wake Forest Baptist medical center, i will decline transfer and take my chances at a rural hospital.
The absolute worst in communication. Nobody knows anything and cant give you a straight answers. The doctors lack knowledge and people skills. These people were scaring us so much we went to Forsyth. If I could give out negative stars I would. Absolute worst.
I'm a four year breast cancer survivor and have traveled 2 1/2 hours (each way) to have all my treatment performed at Wake Forest Baptist Health. I couldn't be happier with the care I've received from all my doctors. Dr. Lisa David (Plastic Surgeon), Dr. Marissa Howard-McNatt (Oncology Surgeon), and Dr. Susan Melin (Oncologist), as well as their nursing teams, have taken great care of me and my mother, another breast cancer survivor. I highly recommended the Breast Care Center and the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Guess you cannot give no stars because it will not post your review. Let it be know that your ACE department sucks. Have been after Samantha Rogers for help with our mother and we kept hitting brick walls. They could not get our mother out fast enough. Transferred her to a facility that rejected her! Guess she isn't your problem any longer.
I would not recommend this hospital. I had surgery that resulted in damage to my left chest wall. The damage continues to this day and requires every 3 month nerve blocks and numerous pills every day. Post surgery it took me several months to obtain my medical records. When my insurance company threatened to initiate an investigation of why the withholding of my records, the CEO / COO and other Sr Management gave me (a 26 yr patient) the CDs and said "now you have what you want, don't come back". I was also told they had "banned" me from the hospital except for entry via emergency room. What makes this entire issue worse is every time I asked why I was in such extreme pain, I was never advised of extensive nerve damage done during surgery and known by all involved, except me. This place has never admitted to any fault or responsibility that I now have clear evidence was intentionally with held from me. Treatment was with held and I was once threatened by my PCP should he learn I reached out to other medical professionals for advise to help with pain or a solution.
An important fact is the Resident who told me I required surgery because "I was a walking time bomb with the makings of a widow maker" held me over until his superior surgeon got back to town. He was playing let's take a chance holding this patient for our learning purpose VS sending me to a different hospital for immediate care. This Resident also said he had never observed, been trained or certified to perform my surgery so he would be "only an observer in the operating room". It turns out he was the "Primary Surgeon"
I could and will likely write a book about several of the hospital Medical and Non Medical staff, but for now, I would strongly suggest you not accept the first offer and get a second opinion!
More information to come
Very good hospital. I have always had really good experiences here
I have been hospitalized 3 times at Baptist for surgeries. In every case I was kept aware of what was going on and after recovery and placement in a room I was well cared for. Nurses were there frequently to ask if I needed anything and how I was feeling. They also responded in a timely manner the few times I used the call button. Hospitals are not fun places and you can't expect everything to be wonderful. Their priority is to address your medical issue and keep you safe until you are sent home. If they succeed in that and don't make you miserably uncomfortable, they have done their job and don't deserve to get trashed. My wife and I have had 5 surgeries between us at Baptist in the last 10 years. Our outcomes were all excellent and they were very solicitous about our health and healing during our stay. That is what you go to the hospital for. The physical environment may or may not be great, but it is not particularly important in my view. If that is important to you, this is still the best option. My wife had a surgery at Forsyth Medical Center and the environment and the care after recovery were a nightmare. We should be thankful that we have a high end teaching hospital attached to Wake Forest Medical School in Winston. There may be more traffic and repeated questions, but the level of care is superb. If I could give 100 thumbs up, I would. Unfortunately I only have 2.
I have been going to this hospital/network for several years and have always had a high opinion of it until this week. I went on Monday, May 1 for kidney stones. After quite a long wait, punctuated by bouts of waiting to receive pain medication, they finally took me to OR to insert a stent to relieve the pressure on my kidney. After the surgery, they scheduled me for the surgery where they actually remove the stones. That date was May 22. They sent me home with a prescription for a weeks worth 5/325 Norco for pain. Seven days worth of medication for a 21 day period of still having three kidney stones. So on day three, I asked about getting a refill, since they weren't exactly concerned with speed, which was responded to by a sarcastic email breaking down the math of how many pills I was given versus the amount of time that had elapsed, because I'm the one who needs math lessons to work out that seven days off medication doesn't last 21 days. Asshats.
Was an awful visit to the Emergency Department, my husband broke his arm while we was traveling. Being an NP at a Level 1 trauma center in Oklahoma your facility is pathetic and poorly staffed. We ended up leaving husband was losing feeling in his hands from the fracture and nerve damage. We would not even take our dog here. We are very pleased with your competitor, they listen and cared about my husband. Btw he is also a Cardio Thoracic Surgeon and will be reporting your facility to the state he observed patient neglect at it's finest in your waiting room!! STAY AWAY FROM WFBMC!
After extended wait times you are rushed through and talked to like you are keeping them from more important matters and you should have prevented this from happening.
Neat and clean. Employees are very polite and well informed.
COMMUNICATION IN THIS PLACE IS PATHETIC. .ALMOST KILLED ME.PROTOCALLS SENT TO ME FOR A INFANT/FORGOTTEN PROCEDURES ETC<
The burn unit here is awesome. The care my child recieved was exceptional. I will however mention that during our week in the facility I had to bring up some issues involving gossip among staff. The intensive care is no place for snide remarks and blame.
Family members be mindful that if in the unfortunate event you would have to visit the unit, request that your family be treated with respect and privacy to some extent. I couldn't tell you how many times I felt my child was nothing more than a side show attraction. Too many observers and idiotic comments causing nothing more than agitation and stress for the patient.
Other than that the doctors, therapists, and some nurses were very attentive and thorough with our family. The social worker was very helpful and very knowledgeable.
WORST HOSPITAL RUN AROUND AFTER RUN AROUND!!!!
I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE BEEN SO AGGRAVATED AND FRUSTRATED AT A HOSPITAL SO WELL RENOWNED. THE NURSES DON'T COME INTO THE ROOM WHEN THE DOCTORS ARE THEY SO THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT'S GOING ON. THERE ARE TEAMS OF DOCTORS FOR EVERY DIFFERENT PART OF THE BODY AND THE ALTHOUGH YOU ARE TOLD THAT THE TEAMS WILL GET TOGETHER AND DECIDE WHAT TO DO, THAT IS NEVER DONE AND WHEN YOU ASK TO TALK TO A DOCTOR AND YOU WAIT AND WAIT AND IT NEVER HAPPENS. MY DAUGHTER AND MOTHER FINALLY HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL ADMIN. TO EXPRESS THAT MY FATHER WAS NOT PHYSICALLY ABLE TO BE DISCHARGED AND WE DEMANDED SOME ANSWERS. A DOCTOR FINALLY SHOWED UP BUT NO ANSWERS BECAUSE THEY STILL DON'T KNOW AND WANT TO DO MORE TESTS. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, ESPECIALLY IF THE CARE INVOLVES AN ELDERLY PERSON. RIDICULOUS AND SO UNPROFESSIONAL IS THE NICEST THINGS I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS PLACE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
Bad bedside manner outside of a couple nurses, doctors didn t seem interested in actually finding out what s wrong
Well I was going to have my son be born here. Since I have to have a csection. "Supposedly I have to have a medical reason to have my son and csection just 1day before my 39w." Which is horse poo, my husband is the only one working.. He can't take off of work to watch our 3 year old, so the 1st of November is when it was supposed to be but now they are trying to push it to the 4th. Which doesn't work for me. It's not a state law. I can and its allowed for me to have him on the 31st. Make the csection happen an hour before the 1st. A few hours before or super early on november 1st.
No bedside manner from er staff they made a guy in a wheel chair move himself. I my self am sitting her with a life threatening condition and am getting worse. They told me i will be reassessed and here i sit in the waiting room. They have no beds but there were people here for 6 hours today. Could hardly stand and they cared more about paper work than helping anybody.
I have never been so disrespected, mistreated by a medical facility in my life, you never can be treated by a doctor it's an intern that hasn't read your file and when you ask to be seen by one doctor not intern you are ignored, how can you treat humans like your ordering lunch, the first thing they tell you doesn't matter how many of them you see is we don't treat pain.... So what do you do then??? Bill insurance for services NOT rendered, see learn how to mistreat patients and defraud insurance companies cause your insurance isn't high enough right
I have had enough bad stays here to say I won't be going back. The last time I was sent home with the iv still in my arm. The doctors are judgmental and cold. I'm not a person to just have one or two bad visits and say they are bad, have tried time and time again maybe 2 out of 10 turned out to be mildly descent. Never said wow nice hospital though. I do not recommend for the kind hearted because once again they are cold and careless.
The staff and doctors treat you like they really care! Means a lot to me! Don't get that much any more!
I cannot express the great love and kindness that has been given me at the hospital. My neurologist and icu staff and each employee that was in contact with me was fabulous. My God Bless you all in Christ name Gary Justice
My child has been seen here to manage a few chronic conditions for years. The quality of care is excellent, the providers are top notch, and the facility is great.
Just a couple of issues. After 20 years being treated here, it is frustrating to have to fight with the hospitalists to get him on the right nutrition plan while in patient. Not like all his info isn't listed right there on Epic. They limit him when his prescribed diet is double portion and extra meals. This goes on for days when we are trying to get him to gain weight.
The stupidest thing this hospital does is the security guard at the entrance on weekends and holidays. These are the times when the fewest visitors come to the hospital yet people have to jump through the biggest hoops. Guests are largely unchecked once passing that desk. Anyone can come to this hospital, say Thursday at 2pm, and bring all manner of nefarious items without being stopped, questioned, identified, or noticed. The weekend "security theater" is annoying, rude, and an embarrassment to this institution. I would have less of an issue if this was an everyday process but instead we are all bothered by a stupid process which does nothing to make things safer or better.
If I could give 0 stars for customer support I would I drive over 40 mins twice to not be seen for being told a incorrect date or not given proper directions on how to get to the facility I've wasted gas money and time and they absolutely dont care
The staff moves with professional care and respect. They treated my son's wounds skillfully, but more important, they treated his heart with love and understanding. What could have been a nightmare turned into a blessing.
Waiting times are ridiculous, people can be dying and they have to wait up to three hours just to get seen. Plus nurses have an ATTITUDE, their job is to help not to have smart comments with their patients. Seriously worst experience ever!!!!
I think this hospital is a joke. They took my son away from me. His xrays showed up a month after his death. They could have saved his life if they knew what they were doing.
This place is the reason I am alive today with very minimal brain damage, so I m keen. I will probably be pulling from Dr. Wolfe and Dr. Fargen s names when I name my children.
Billing department screwed me out of $725.50 by entering the wrong billing code. Check you bills closely!!! Very disappointed with this. At least my Doctor is great but at what price?
Needed a wheelchair this morning at 7:30 a.m. when we arrived at Reynolds Tower for P.E.T. scan appointment. Asked security sitting at a desk for a wheelchair for my 88 year old father in law. He stated I would need to go to Ardmore Tower and ask for wheelchair. WHAT???!!
I'm 62 years old and not in the best of shape, but I secured a wheelchair and ended up being tardy for appointment. What happened to service???
I've been waiting for 4 hours in the waiting room of the emergency department in immense pain. They say I still need to wait a few more hours. Some people have been here waiting longer than I have. There are no empty beds. I'm never coming back to this hospital.
Needed to refill my blood pressure medicine. WFBH insisted I see a doctor first (really just an intern). Well, the "doctor" checked my blood pressure, read some questions off the computer screen, then gave me a years supply of medicine. Also got blood work done. Total out of pocket bill was over $700. Got a $285 flu shot. Same flu shot at CVS $60. Even the blood technician told me she didn't know why they were still giving this outdated vaccination (her words). It will take me a couple of years to pay this off. I could share many more horror stories about the billing over the past years but I'll spare you that. If you only have Medicare don't go here unless it's a true emergency. Next time I will try one of the urgent care clinics.
I worked at this location for several years. I had also worked at "the hospital down the street". This is by far the superior hospital in Winston. The health care team is much more knowledgeable and they do everything they can to ensure the patients get what they need. This hospital is MUCH cleaner than "the hospital that shall not be named". I always told my family and friends that during an emergency, even if I was closer to the other hospital, take the time to get to Baptist because they are top notch.
I cant ever get ahold of anyone, in constantly on hold and the process of a simple doctor visit is unnecessarily long. I won't be going there again.
This hospital doesn't even deserve the one star but I had to place it there because it wouldn't let me post the comment unless I did.
This is about the billing system. We have faithfully made payments every month. I suppose they don't like the fact that sometimes we cannot make large payments due to the fact that we had to keep my husband's car taking him to work every day and more of our finances were needed there. My main point is that we were faithful in making some kind of payment EVERY month. Yet, they send our account to a collection agency???!!! As it turned out there were 3 billers involved in the various tests my husband and I took and no matter how faithful and on time our payments were, apparently not enough for them and all 3 got sent to debt collectors. Now we have them all combined in one under the accounting service called Clear Balance. I SPENT HOURS ON THE PHONE TRYING TO DO EXACTLY THAT, but, no, they have to go through debt collectors first???? NOW my doctor wants me to talk to a surgeon. I refuse. I'm in God's hands now while I continue to pay on last year's bills.
Passing through and stopped here because I wasn't feeling well. I went to the emergency room tonight for chest pain, numbess and high blood prrssure. I checked in at front desk with William who was polite and prompt at 1:00am; was immediately seen in triage for vitals by Shahronda R staff RN. She took my vitals all while trying to receive a food delivery order for another employee (Jennifer) and direct patient traffic. After getting my vitals Shahronda took me to a side room off from triage where they give ekg readings. The sheet on bed was dirty, dingy, nasty with hair on it. The wall with window contain blood smeared and splatter down left side. She never used hand-sanitizer. Ann in registration was polite and prompt. I waited in waiting room from that was extemly HOT in temperature from 1:15am til 3:12am afterwards I got up and left. I was in so much pain that i decided to drive further for treatment l. The uncleanliess and waiting was definitely not appreciated and I would not recommend this hospital for emergency.
I would not recommend anyone to go this hospital especially who has cancer.
1. Some doctor would not listening to patients family.
2. Some nurses don't know what she doing.
3. The room are not cleaning everyday, example like take out trash and bathroom.
4. This hospital is not to save someone life is all about money.
5. We feel mistreat while my sister has cancer and stay.
I have different feelings about how I was treated here after a very traumatic car accident, but my children were treated wonderful. They were given the best care that they could get. We still receive cards asking how my daughter is doing.
I on the other hand was treated differently by doctors and nurses. I had a few very serious injuries and some not as serious. But that did not matter to some. I was moved around a few times because I kept having other complications arise. I did have one staff tell me I need to work on getting better, because I could not stay in ICU forever. Some of my treatment was a little extreme for certain problems. I also had nurses and doctors get upset with me when I refused to have surgery one morning, because of how sick I was the night before. Also the fact that a nurse refused to call someone else in to draw my blood that same night and spent two hours by herself poking at me. I'm glad I refused the surgery, because the sickness I was feeling was actually something serious enough that could have killed me had I had the surgery. There were a few good nurses who went above and beyond to help me during my stay. But, I do not recommend any floor that has student nurses who will be assisting you. I had some rude students. One told me I could do it myself and she wouldn't help me get my cup. My wrist was broke and wrapped up to my elbow therefore I could not reach my cup on the table. This is when I was on the cancer floor for two nights.
So it's a matter of how simple or serious your treatment will be as to how you'll be treated
When I was taken via ambulance from auto accident, I was asked if I am allergic to medications. I told them I absolutely cannot take narcotics. Then the emergency nurse gave me what I thought was a large tylenol. I took it, and within a few minutes felt quite nauseous. I asked what he gave me- Norco? I was told. So with my broken rib, I was very sick in the restroom.
My stay here for my scheduled c-section was not what I expected. I heard everyone rave about the rooms, even had a nurse friend ask me if I liked the remodel. I wouldn't know. They stuck me in a small closet type room with a teeny tiny window. Also, I could hear the nurses in the hall shouting and horsing around all night, every night. In the maternity ward of all places! I was very disappointed. Won't be coming back.
Avoid this place. Find somewhere else to go. Horrible people working here.
