Villas sol was a beautiful resort with all the amenities you can think of! The all inclusive restaurant is open air and the food is great! What's better is the service the amazing staff provides! Ernesto was our server for dinner most nights. It's like he read our minds he would be right there filling drinks as soon as they were empty. He also brought us all a shot of tequila one night for "cheers". He really makes you feel right at home at this beautiful beach resort. Also Ivan is a fantastic bartender. Him and Dani, our concierge, taught us some stuff about Costa Rica and overall made our stay fantastic!

Don't listen to all th negative reviews. Yes there are substantial elevation changes but the shuttles are readily available. This is not Mexico; the resort is lower key but the views, weather and hospitality is far beyond.

One of the worst customer service experiences ever...

One of the worst customer service experiences ever!! These folks did not represent Costa Ricans very well. We had a group of 8 rooms, all were all inclusive. When we get to the resort( if that's what you want to call it) they tell us we have to purchase the wifi for minium of 3 days ( we were staying only 2) and the cost will be 25 dollars, and it doesn't work in the rooms!! Are you kidding me?? So, I asked if they could comp us the wifi because we've already purchased 8 rooms, and the wifi doesn't even work in the rooms. The answer was NO!! No budging, no compassion , nothing. They didn't care. Also we wanted to check in early ( maybe 1 hour and a half) and they gave us yellow bracelets, which mean no drinks, food, nothing but heese of the pool. I tried to buy drinks, and they wouldn't even let me do that. This place was a joke. The food was horrible, the beach was dirty etc... avoid this place if you can, so not worth it. Maybe they can learn from the expression, " you only get one chance to make a first impression" and the impression left I my was terrible.

This is not a 4/5-star resort. It is VERY outdated, the main dining hall is fine, if you want to dine with wild CATS all
over the place. The rooms were mediocre at best, with no hot water and hardly any water pressure. The staff is friendly enough. I was expecting more since this was part of a time share presentation. Very disappointed, this is the first and the last time visiting.

We were at Villa Sol from Nov 23 to Nov 30th 2019. before moving up the coast to Conchal. Our stay was wonderful. From the management down everybody we talked with treated us with kindness and respect. A special shout out to Mike and Ivan at the poolside bar, from mixing specialty drinks all night to granting our odd musical requests they kept us laughing all night. And to Brian for making the hill climb bearable and his awesome smile. We will be back, and we will be staying at Vila Sol. Super clean rooms and the all inclusive buffet was fabulous even late at night.
Feliz Navidad ladies and gentlemen
A job well done.

1) POWER: We had multiple power outages during our stay, the longest being 2.5 hours long. No other area around us had the same issue (as we could see all the lights on). Worse was that the long power outage happened with 2 minutes left of the Super Bowl. The WiFi went out multiple times as well!!
2) FOOD: nothing special. It was the same food everyday (for breakfast and lunch). The left over rice and beans, and potatoes seemed to be reheated and mixed up to serve at breakfast. There was cheese at the buffet and it was Kraft singles...with the wrappers still on them!! Half the time, they didn t have pancakes, which there was a spot for, the eggs were underdone and mushy, and everything was cold!!
3): SERVICE nothing exceptional!! Not friendly, and didn t smile a bit. They were kosher, but didn t go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. One waitress even had the audacity to come and tell us the restaurant (which there was only 1 of open when we were there in high season ) closes in 10 min and we needed to hurry.
4) LOCATION : on a hillside, had to walk everywhere. There was a shuttle to the beach, but it took forever and they passed us 2 times and shook his finger no when we tried to board.
5) BAR: opened at 11 and closed at 6, then reopened at 8-midnight. However, when we tried to get a drink at 9:55pm (on our anniversary) they said they were closed and we ended up going to our room and calling it a night.
6) ROOM SWAP: we were there with a timeshare review. Because there were no flights out, we had to book 1 more night at Villa Sol. When I asked if we could stay in our room (which was 1 king bed, instead of our new room which would be 2 double beds and bigger) they said no. I asked if we could downgrade and we would be willing to take any room available. Nope!! We had to check out at noon, and carry our luggage down the stairs (no elevator here) and take the trolly to the front desk, check out, and leave our luggage with the unfriendly staff. Then come back at 3 and check in to another room (which wasn t ready at 3).

Overall, I wouldn t waste your time on this hotel...waste of money and time.

This place want to market itself as a Costa Rican ...

This place want to market itself as a Costa Rican jewel amongst all inclusive resorts here in Guanacasta. It isn't a jewel at all in any sense of the word. Our trip started badly due to the Liberia airport closing and doesn't reflect negatively on the resort. Once back in Miami, we attempted to call every single number for Villa Sol both stateside and overseas numbers. Both have extensive phone prompts all of which end with "Sorry you are having trouble, goodbye." -followed by getting hung up on. When we arrive in Liberia airporr the next day, we were descended upon like locusts on fresh grass by dozens of vendors - NOT a friendly experience. We eventually found our driver holding a placard for Villa Sol...he wasn't looking for us but 4 other passengers. We were told to stand outside with another couple that he didn't expect. Once he found the 6 people he wanted we then followed him to the van. Wanting to make sure our stuff got packed, I loaded the luggage for all of us unexpected passengers. Once inside the hot steamy van, the driver insisted that we pay him $40. We explained that our transportation costs were already covered, he stated he wasn't going to move the van until he got paid. The other couple fortunately had International calling and luckily got the resort on the phone. After a tense conversation in Spanish the driver drove us to the resort, nearly clipped two other vans in the parking lot. The drive was truly 3rd world crazy. Here's the rest of our review on the resort. It's about 10 yrs past its prime. Jun is evidently there slow season and subsequently closed 1 of their two pools. They closed the pool with the swim up bar, restuarant and sand volleyball. The offer wifi but in only two locations, the main hotel and front desk reception- which is not where the put us up. Our first room was really basic and had no view whatsoever. We learned the first night that our ceiling was leaking from the rain. Our shower barely had hot water and the A/C struggled to keep pace the the outdoor temps. After our second night the resort moved us to the hotel, it had a wonderful view, A/C that worked, hot water and wifi. The food was hit and miss, mostly a miss. On multiple occasions I could identify meat that was from a previous meal recycled into a new entree. As long as they were recycling sausage or chicken- the meal was good. I don't know where they source their beef but it was the toughest, most gristle filled stuff on the planet. All the negative stuff aside, breakfast was a highlight, wonderful scrambled eggs and sausage, fresh made to order omelets and fresh local fruits were awesome! Because Jun is the slow season, the resort indicated dedcided not to advertise activities and were reluctant to support water sports down at their beach. They have their own dedicated chairs for the beach but they are chained into position and can't be moved. As expected from an all you can drink bar, everything is watered down, your best option is the red or white wine. We saw many couples ask for doubles only to take a sip a wonder if there is any alcohol in this drink. Wanderlust is selling a vacation club memberships here and is much like a timeshare offering and sales tactics. So based on our time why does Villa Sol warrant 3 stars and not less, 1. the actual people working in and around-they were very nice, 2. we are in Costa Rica. To do it again we would spend more time in Coca Beach area. I now know much more to look for in a resort for the next time. Parting shot, we gave the resort our flight number, they told us to check out at 1200, we did and missed our flight by an hour. After shuttling tens of thousands of people to the airport they should know there isn't a 4pm flight to Miami. The airport only has 3 flights in the afternoon! When we and the airlines called the resort, they couldn't be reached at all.

Our room had an issue with the toilet so we had to call maintenance. Fortunately, within 10 minutes they sent someone to our room and fixed the problem.

Overall the facilities are in good shape. The rooms are cozy and they have a nice balcony with an amazing view. I'm pretty sure the view is what makes this worth visiting. The pools are ok, but the jacuzzi had freezing water for some reason.

The food is not that great. There isn't variety and most of it was cold. The cereal during breakfast was soft. Desserts were at room temperature, they did not taste good at all. We decided to just skip them for the rest of our stay.

For drinks, they have a couple of bars. They are very good, however, I ordered the same coctail in both places and they tasted completely different. Personally, they tasted better at the bar next to the restaurant (not the wet bar).

They offer snacks like pizza, hamburgers and chips next to the wet bar. They were good but not great, mainly because only one guy was in charge to cook everything. Make sure to be patient, the snacks don't last that long and sometimes we had to wait for a slice of pizza.

On the plus side, our servers were nice and diligent all the time. They view, again, is just amazing. The rooms are in excellent shape. If the food is not an issue, you should definitely check out this place.

Excellent place to vacation, the view is beautiful towards the bay of Playa Hermosa, the Villas are very well equipped and most of them have a small pool in case you do not want to be in the large pools with more people.
There are also villas in the highest part with a beautiful view towards the bay.

Do not stay here if you are trying to get a deal with a timeshare or anything where you have to do the presentation for a discount. It is the biggest joke. They make you sign something when you check in when your presentation is and we scheduled our whole stay around it. Then we show up that morning and they tell us they rescheduled us to the night and we have to show up then or the next morning or we get charged full price. If you have ever stayed at an all inclusive resort this place is a joke. The one Buffett is small, limited food and not good food at all. The other restaurant is an extra charge. Pina colada s aren t even made fresh. They just dip a cup into a cooler and hand it to you. So nasty. The bed is hard, rooms are dated, tiny. Should have known that this place was a scam but thought hey it s Costa Rica how bad could it be. Wrong wrong wrong. Stay away at all cost.

3 star resort with a five star view. Bed hard, shampoo, cream, & coffee may or may not be restocked in ur room. All on hills but free shuttles running till midnight. Food typical all inclusive and just ok. Lacks entertainment & activities outside of expensive tours which can be booked onsite.

Very good attention, wonderful views, villas and gardens. Varied options for enjoyment. The restaurant has a beautiful architecture and the all-inclusive option is very good. Excellent, the internal service to mobilize.

Food was very good although I do not agree with the forced all inclusive meal plan.
Resort is a bit dated.
I own a time share but may not return.
Shuttle service is slow, wi Fi is only available at pools and reception and no hammocks available at the beach.
The smaller resort on the same property has Wi Fi everywhere hammocks at their pool and at the beach
Just saying!!!

Not my desired place, the staff is very friendly, but not much to do around here, the beach where their car takes you to is not that attractive nor clean, guests spend more time at the pool, I bought an expensive package, just to find out that Alacarte Restaurant was not included, only things on the buffet side, alcohol was included though, I found huge roaches in my room, and I'm talking about 1.5" in size, I hope none got in my laggage, the Villas need maintenance, there are also huge hills where if you are not in one of their car to take you to your unit, you'll be exhausted by the time you get there. But they got cable in the room. I you ever come here, I hope you have a better experience than us.

I am writing for my niece. After a trip of having planes delayed for hours, my niece and her traveling companion showed up at Villa Sol with a PRE PAID reservation for the room. It was already 9:30pm, there plane being 8 hours late. The desk clerk asked for a credit card. This is normal. They only had a debit card, which has never been a problem for them. The desk clerk then told them they would have to pay cash of $150.00 per night if they wanted to stay. That was $600.00. They refused, stating they would pay the deposit of $300.00 that they were required to pay on the debit card. The hotel refused and at 11:00 at night had the escorted my niece and her companion to the gate and left them standing there alone in a foreign country. Thank goodness, I live in Costa Rica and was able to pick them up and give them shelter. The fact that we live fairly close to Villa Sol was mere coincidence. Shame on this hotel!!! Was it because my niece is black? Was it because it was two girls? Shame shame on Villa Sol. NEVER go there!!!!

A very good option of accommodation on the beach, a very familiar approach, comfortable rooms and have a restaurant that offers a sensational view of Playa Hermosa. There are many tastes, but from my point of view I definitely recommend it.

I have been visiting this hotel for more than 3 years and had never had such a bad experience. To begin with, the transport service is very inefficient because they only have two cars that instead of being circulating in opposite places that are almost one behind the other, therefore, if you lose one you both lose and you must wait 30 minutes to return to find one for while in Condovac one sees that cars pass almost 5 minutes apart. Although the wait is not a problem, one of the drivers decided to leave my family, which included the elderly and small children, of course if the car was full, however, it was completely empty, it was just the laziness to stop pick us. In addition to this misunderstanding our villa was damaged air conditioning (AC) very kindly ask that maintenance help us. It turns out that our air had frozen and he blamed us for having left the door open despite the fact that we had told him that we had not opened it, he insisted by letting us know that we were liars. The worst week of my life I really do not recommend this hotel.
