Excellent place to vacation alone, couple or family ... There are activities for all ages and delicious food

Good service, clean rooms with good service, very friendly staff

Excellent treatment of the staff in general; but exceptional is that of Jana, the super special animation girl with the children. The delicious food.

It is not very far there but it complies with what is strictly necessary. It has a nice view of the sea (although it is a bit far).

Nice place with all services available, good food at a good price, make your self a favor and look for Calzon de Pobre beach, hidden and really beautiful place, need to search it on Google maps or Waze, you wont find it by yourself.

The worst hotel I've ever been in my life. Ugly and super expensive, because they charge a lot more than what one is going to receive. They are thiefs. The staff is very hypocritical. The least pleasant stay I've had. The beach is super ugly and it is not enjoyed at all. It is a waste of money in all its forms to stay at this hotel, better to stay sleeping in the car. Never in life would I recommend it to anyone, that is disgusting. One star is too much for this hotel.

Staff is friendly and helpful.

Most of the staff speaks some english, but primary language is Spanish. I had a chance to dust off my 40 year old Spanish classes from high school and the staff was patient and understanding and happy to help refresh my language skills.

Be warned, do not expect Hot showers or Hot food. It is a cultural thing, and both are luke warm.

The facilities very well. The bad thing is that they do not have an electricity plant for emergencies. We spent hours without water and without light. Too many raccoons. Careful they are very daring and can attack you. The staff has 5 stars, super attentive.

It s very nice resort with the resort staff very nice and friendly. All was good for the time I was with my wife, good food, clean room service. Only issue we had was no free wifi during our stay at the resort. Also the staff at reception is kind of rude, when you ask questions about the area or trying to get information.

The hotel is good location and service very nice,but it not worth the money for all-inclusive at all. The food not impressive and it only one restaurant you can eat in certain time. They offer most drink as a cocktails drink. I feel like I drink water from that cocktail. The beach is pretty,but not much thing to do. The hotel offer Wifi, but not work in your room . You have to come out at the walk way front side of your room to get the signal.

Daily activities. Very good staff The all-inclusive is worth it. Daily buffets very varied.

The grounds and villas are very nice. It can be somewhat noisy, from birds during the day and people at night.

This was my second time here at villa sol and honestly it's definitely not great the second time around. I don't know what happened in the two years that I've visited, but they really let this place go. Yes the rooms are clean, but there needs to be some updates with the bathroom and stove. Before, they would come clean the space every day. Now it's every other day, and they only leave one set of shampoo and soap. When we arrived(which was around 12pm), we had to wait until 4pm to check into our room. 4PM??!!! REALLY??!!!!! At least our villa had a nice view of the ocean and some wildlife animals. Then, they didn't even tell us that there WOULDN'T be ANY WIFI in our villa. If we wanted wifi, we would have to go to the pool areas. For what it costs, and the beach isn't even that great to begin with, I wouldn't really recommend this place. There are way better beaches nearby.

It's a great value and the location is beautiful! Compare to Condovac first though.

Fantastic resort for the family. Very easy to navigate, convenient to an amazing beach, and everyone was friendly. I felt safe letting my teenagers walk around alone and all the kids loved the pool.

I ll start with the only reason I m giving this a star (besides the fact that I can't give zero stars) the bartenders. The bartenders were amazing! They ll become your best friends if you stay at this hotel, because staying here makes you want to drink A LOT.

The very first thing we noticed was that the air conditioning was less than sub-par. We thought it was turned off but no, the fan was turned on high. We set it on the coldest temperature but it never got cooler.

They literally SHUT OFF the water to the entire resort with NO warning. The water was shut off in our room for 9+ hours one day and we tried to get an answer and the front desk just ignored us. Our neighbor called asking about it and they hung up on him! One lady actually brought her shampoo to the pool because her water was off for two days! It was insane. After enough complaining, they brought everyone the 5 gallon jugs of water so you could fill up the back of the toilet tank so you could FLUSH THE FREAKING TOILET!! It was the most disgusting two days. All the public bathrooms by the bars and pools were FILLED with bodily fluids/solids. We were legitimately having a conversation on if we were willing to pay $500-600/night to go nearby to the Four Seasons because you know they would never turn off the water or lack on A/C! This water outage happened on our second day there, so you could only imagine how unhappy we were with this place already.

The pools at the hotel there are two. One has a swim up bar and is the activity pool water aerobics daily, karaoke, etc. This pool is literally falling apart. There are pool tiles missing everywhere throughout the pool and you can walk around and uproot them just by stepping on them. The bar at this pool smells like someone threw up on it and no one bothered to clean it up. It s quite disgusting. The other pool is by the buffet restaurant and we never got in it looked really murky and we referred to it as the make out pool.

Food the food wasn t bad but it wasn t great either. There is a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with very set hours. They had an omelet station a couple mornings. Watch out for the pesky blue birds! They will fly right in and help themselves to your plate if you re not paying attention. Then they have a snack bar from 11 4 at the swim up bar pool that always had pizza, nacho fixings, and usually burgers with fixings. And then they have an a la carte restaurant that, if you do the all-inclusive plan, you get a free meal. I had salmon and it wasn t bad, a little overcooked. My husband had mahi mahi and he was not a fan. Overall, food is tolerable.

That being said, La Casita Del Marisco down on Playa Hermosa is AMAZING!!! Definitely worth the price and the servers are incredible. We had fried snapper and a seafood sampler platter and it was easily the best meal we had. Highly recommend making a trip down to the beach for it!

Honestly, this was my first time to Costa Rica and this hotel put such a bad taste in my mouth that I never even want to return to the country. I would NEVER recommend staying here or wasting your time/money. There was a rumor floating around that they are planning to tear down and remodel the place in a couple of years because the whole place is falling apart. One guy we met leaned on the railing of the second floor and it started to crumble onto the walkway below! Ugh, just don t bother.

Terrible visit no air conditioning. electricity went out bathrooms are dirty and smell. Food is tasteless and fly infested don't stay here.

It is a spacious place. Very quiet just to relax and unwind. Beautiful pools.

Nice rooms, great views and access to the beach. But we were high pressured to attend a sales presentation by our concierge during check-in (apparently the company over- built), which soured us on the place. We came here to take trips into the national parks, hike, and watch wildlife--not consider buying condos.

Nightlife is dampered because there is a family if raccoons living on the grounds. We couldn't enjoy the night weather and di night swims.

TOURIST BE WARE........PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEBORE BUYING INTO THIS VACATION CLUB OFFERED AT VILLA SOL. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS THAT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RETIRED SENIOR CITIZENS. THEY WILL WINE YOU AND DINE YOU AND THEN TAKE YOU FOR ALL THEY MONEY CAN. THEY WILL FRAUDULENTLY CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARDS FOR LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY THAT YOU HAVE NOT AUTHORIZED. DONT EVEN THINK THAT YOU CAN CALL AND GET ANY STRAIGHT ANSWERS FROM ANYBODY IN THEIR CORPORATE OFFICES. THEY WILL NOT ANSWER PHONE CALLS OR E-MAILS. AND IF YOU'RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET A LIVE PERSON ALL YOU GET IS UNANSWERED QUESTIONS.

The reception people behaved respectfully but you could feel that every time we came to face.
The beds are hard and old, I have a problem in my back and for eight days I could not rest.
They do not control the raccoons and they go into the villas and they eat everything, it happened to us, all our food was eaten. Cats also come to the restaurant. The Jacuzzi is gross, dirty horribly.
They do not have recreation for children.
As a member, I am totally disappointed.

Stayed at this resort May of 2018.. It was beautiful, the room was clean, the staff was friendly and we had an enjoyable stay!!! Contacted the resort about transportation from the airport ahead of time. When we landed in Costa Rica, the shuttle driver was not aware they were there to pick us up, had to wait for him to call the resort to confirm.. Would definitely highly recommend this resort when visiting Costa Rica!!

Simply my favorite place to vacation, good attention and good food.

We stayed here in the summer of 2016.. It was amazing and beautiful. From the time of our check in to the hospitality, to the food and drinks were amazing. Dancing for adults at night to family activities in the morning. The waiters are very good to you: Milton, Edwin, and the hostess are very nice and friendly. The bartenders Diego, Rafael, Edwin and the chef in the wet bar are amazing. They remember your names and they treated my child so good. The WiFi was an issue, but our vacation was memorable. We will for sure come back. Make sure you try Chilli Guaro

Hello they have Villas with private pool and they are well equipped, with option of two and three bedrooms. They should improve the maintenance of some Villas but I like that they relaxed the option to buy individual times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and not just three-day or all-inclusive packages. The quality of the food has a 4 too.

Super bad attention, terrible service, promise and do not fulfill anything.

This is not a 4-star hotel/resort. The rooms are VERY outdated, even the "Villas" that they tried to sell us via time-share, was mediocre at best. The food at the dining hall was poor, not to mention wild cats were making themselves comfortable at your table as well. There is no hot water, and the water pressure is non existent. To say that this is a "beach resort" is a flat out lie, as there is no beach, and this is not a resort. Do not waste your time or resources, and the owner of this place needs to be ashamed.

What a neat place, absolutely breathtaking view of sunset from the restaurant at the top. Yummy drinks and great times.

If God wants to return in the summer I love the landscape and the location, for this year I could not get a villa so going to the hotel will be a different experience that I will comment later. Too bad they apparently do not have a minibar in the room.

Place that must be urgently renewed. Chairs on the beach dirty and broken. A danger to health. Roofs in broken corridors and leaks day and night. Cooling system also decomposed does not turn off automatically. The balcony door does not close properly. At the reception he says that the boss is not going to last. The day like that. It should be called after 5pm. Only the view of the sea is beautiful and free. Internet wifi costs us $ 25.00 a day. Repair work with frightful noise. NOT RECOMMENDED

SOoooo Where to begin? well lets start with check in. The people at the front desk didn't seem very competent. Every question i had was referred to someone else for answering and the staff did not go and seek out this person they directed me which way to walk in order to find the next, i guess more qualified person. At check in they give you a price list for internet fees (which was weird) but since my wife is in grad school and needed internet i paid 60 USD for what was listed as the best speed internet. The speed was slower than anything you are accustomed to on a bad network day and if that wasn't horrible enough the internet and power went out at least twice a day. once in the room we were pleasantly surprised at the room which was beautiful as well as the view from the room. Dinning is not the best there is only one restaurant which fills up quickly. We were there for 5 days and were unable to get a reservation. The buffet is decent but if your a picky eater you might be in a bit of trouble. The shuttle runs often and is convenient we met some really interesting people and had a good time on the excursion. If you get a chance the Nicaraguan tour is amazing. The administrative staff was by far the worst part of this trip. if you can get around that its a beautiful place.

The view is wonderful, the facilities very nice, clean, as well as the rooms, ideal for resting. Very close to the beach, your internal transport moves you where you need without any problem. The food and drinks are good. A point to improve would be to stop it going up and down so many steps for the studio rooms

Great place with great views of the Pacific ocean and beautiful sunsets. The staff are very kind and welcoming. Highly recommend this getaway. My wife and I will be back.

My family had a great time. The people are very friendly they always have a smile. The Villas are very big and comfortable the AC units works well rooms are very clean,restrooms showers can be improved. The pools are extremely clean. The food and restaurant are amazing. The waiters are very good to you: Milton,Edwin, and the hostess is very nice and friendly. The bartenders Diego,Rafael,Edwin and the chef in the wet bar are amazing. Those guys work very hard to make your day and night very special. Overall I recommend this place. 1 thing I didn't like they don't have Wi-Fi. I was told the system was down when we got there,but the truth is not free. But I am definitely going back to Guanacaste to see my buddies. We met a lot great people there. Oh, and one more thing I love Chile Guaro!!!

Very good hotel, quite clean and the service of the restaurants is good, the only problem is the reception service that does not get to report anything about the meals or the internal bus, and they spend it bitter.
The food is rich but sometimes lacks flavor, and one has a good time with the service of snacks and smoothies in the pool

You weren't allowed to take food to your room . The activities were always getting cancelled. The photographer that works there is a scam artist she quote you one price and on the day of when it comes time to pay it's something else. The store that they run won't give you back your change in American dollars but rather in Costa Rican. They also have too many feral cats and birds in the main dining room. Stay Away.

What kind of hotel is this? I mean that is that I must have a minimum of a gold credit card to get a reservation? Since neither hotels like the Four Season or the RIU or Dream the Tides, have policies as discriminatory as this one. It seems a vile deception and a misleading advertising, offering soooo attractive rates, that at the time of taking, begin the conditions and class excuses, simply to entangle the guests and almost require them to be partners or buy the happy timeshares, to take advantage of the deceptive mega promotions they offer.

Definitely AN ASCO the marketing administration of this Hotel, can be very beautiful and striking facilities, but those discriminatory class conditions, leave much to think about the hotel

A place to rest and forget about the daily routine
I loved!

Great place, did not do much with the resort side of things, but the 3 bedroom villas were clean, quite, comfortable, with a private dip pool. It was excellent!!!

The hotel itself has a nice view but it is because of the location.
But it is the worst place to deceive families and what they do in stealing if they visit never deposit 100% to reserve only the minimum and if they can go without a better reservation so they do not steal from them. They really cheat and steal is the worst vacation experience.

Thoroughly enjoying my stay at Villa Sol! We booked through a service and got the all inclusive package - airfair, food, drinks, and room for 5 nights. So far, it is amazing! All you can eat buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that have been great quality and variety. Drinks are made on the spot and there's no limit. Two pools to swim in and a shuttle to and from the beach. The views depicted in the photos on the website are the real deal - you get what you see! The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. I was shocked, there's no mirage for sales here. This place is fantastic all around! We are so happy that we are considering making this an annual trip!
