Museum of Viking Ships. It certainly deserves a walk in the areas open to the public to admire the shapes of the ships and the methodology with which they were built.
Inside the museum nothing of that.

A little and fun museum to visit if you happen to come here.

It's divided into two spaces, the one outdoor with interactive activities like "Build your small ship" and Viking games and the one inside with the actual museum and the remnants of the ships.

It is possible to book for a trip on a reproduction of a viking ship that last 50 minutes.

The place was really enjoyable. Would ve liked a bit more on how the Vikings actually lived, to put it all in context. Only real downside was the elderly lady who staffed the gift shop. She was rude, unpleasant and put a dampener on an otherwise lovely day.

This place is amazing. They've got 5 Viking ships that were brought up from the bay.
They've also got working reconstructions on the ships that have been built as close to the originals as possible using the original tools and methods.
Great informative tours, decent cafe and games for kids.

The museum is cool. It is divided into two zones, the museum itself, indoor. Inside 4 drakkara, varying degrees of conservation. Plus an exposition about life in the time of the Vikings. And on the street is a large marina, with lots of modern Viking boats. Well made cues. There is an opportunity even to walk along the bay, but in advance, by appointment. Adults are interested, and if with children, definitely a visit. Were during the children's holidays. On the street, performances were arranged. There are not many foreign tourists, more local ones, IMHO.
By the way, they took a Copenhagen card. We arrived by commuter trains. I did not give a discount on the entrance ticket.

Quite pricy, like everything in DK :)
Do not miss the guided tours (included in the ticket) they are worth it.
We took the Saturday 13:00 EN boatyard tour (45 min) and the 14:00 EN inside the musem tour (45 mim).
Make sure to grab a snak before the tour at one of the onsite cafes. Really juicy sausages :)

Absolutely recommended here to stop, as we on the way to Copenhagen. To admire a lot of sights. The museum staff are passionate about it, you can tell. The exit with a dragon boat is worthwhile if you are not afraid of physical activity, because you can row yourself. The restaurant in the middle of the museum is very good. The only drawback were the toilets. Unfortunately they cost the fifth star.

The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde is Denmark's national museum for ships, seafaring and boatbuilding in the prehistoric and medieval period. The main focus of the museum is a permanent exhibition of five original Viking ships excavated nearby in 1962.

Interesting to see the restored ships and learn about Viking ships in general. I would have liked to learn more about Viking history beyond the 5 ships. Visiting in summer and being able to see the replica on the water would be nice.

If you are into boats and history this is an incredible museum. They do experimental archeology where they reconstruct the boats and invite visitors to sail them in the fjord.

There is an incredible find of 5 real Viking boats that were scuttled in the fjord over 1000 years ago.

This museum is very interactive and especially good for kids or those who are young at heart.

Great.

Great.
The museum is great for going with children and doing things other than seeing the boats. You have to be very early if you want to go on a Viking ship.

Not much to see.

Not much to see.
The vikings museum in Oslo is far better.
The discovery of six ancient boats was certainly fantastic but the museum is quite disappointing. The place is nice for children as there are many activities for them.

An exciting museum where there are also a lot of activities for children. It is fun to see the old ships, the workshops and the museum, but immediately the greatest experience is probably for the children. However, you can get out and sail in one of the ships if you are brave enough and have the muscles to calm down!

it is a wonderful experience of going back in time!
The hands on activities and live boat rides are a wonderful way of engaging the audience, but i feel they should be included in the cost. now you have to pay for them separately. Anyways it needs time to soak in all the information. 2 hours is more than enough for basic roaming.

Cultural exhibit but a bit dull, though noteworthy for the history related to the topic.

Next to the actual museum there's also a shipyard, where all ships are build using the same methods as they did in the viking age.

Highly recommended museum with many activities for children and many interesting details about the Viking ships for children and adults.
Visiting Denmark, you can marvel at a fundamental part of Danish history. Even without deeper knowledge of history or interests, a visit would be worthwhile .
It gives insights into various crafts related to the shipbuilding of the Vikings.
The restored ships as well as the ships that you can see in the harbor are impressive.
The admission price I find justified for the exhibition and the activities, especially since you have to pay 17 years (!) Nothing. After all, there are always museum staff at the various craft stations who explain and demonstrate a great deal.
It was a real experience for my family and me! Thanks a lot!
