Interesting exhibits, very knowledgeable staff and visitors are able to enter areas where some over zealous health and safety officers would put out of bounds, which made for a very enjoyable visit.

The Viking Ship Museum is a must . Be amazed at how old these amazing ships are. Very interesting and interactive museum. You can build your only mini ship , try some weaving , toast some sausages on the fire . Fabulous experience for the whole family. You can see these ships built in front of you , which is awesome to see . We also did the sail in a Viking Ship which was so fun to get out on the water . Highly recommend book early and go early. Fantastic adventures for everyone.

The Viking Ship Museum is built on the reconstructed Skuldelev ships, which were excavated by Roskilde Fjord. - After a special treatment, they managed to preserve the old planks and show the found Viking ships as they looked.
- As an added bonus you can see contemporary Viking ships built on the museum's own "workshop". It is also possible to get out sailing in some of these boats.
- The largest Viking ship is the "Sea Stallion of Glendalough", which became world famous when it sailed from Roskilde to Ireland. This sailing is immortalized in a film shown at the exhibition.

For the people who like history of Vikings and reading a lot, its great place. But for people who likes to see things, you can finish this in 15 min. There are 5 ships (not really, because some are only 25% some 75% reconstructed. I think the price 110 DKK does not reflect the experience / value you get.

Very nice museum with an educational area. Viking boats are built on site and all necessary components are processed. Very friendly staff who are happy to answer all questions from children and adults. A trip on a boat should be booked in advance, it is definitely worth it.

Last year my girlfriend and i were on our dream road trip trough Denmark, when we visited this place.

When we bought the ticket, the friendly person behind the register made sure we know about the opportunity for a sailing trip.

The persons who guided the sailing trips were so friendly, clear and good in sharing their knowledge.

The food was very good in the restaurant and reasonable priced. We had 1 of our best cups of coffee in Denmark over there. (Sorry Danish people dont always know how to make coffee :P )

All the workers there (from the docks to the museum) were very friendly correct. We got a lot of information. The only negative remark i can mention. The tshirt in my favorite colour wasnt in my size :(

So i can safely say, if you do a viking roadtrip.... make sure you dont miss this!

Located by the water overlooking the fjord. The museum and museum shop is factual and cool, but attractively decorated. It shows three upscale ships that were once sunk to block the fjord fjord for enemies. A free movie in several languages explains all the essentials.

Very interesting museum, with recreations of Viking boats found in the bay. There are activities and cafes outside the main building. The entrance, however, is increasingly expensive.

Singular museum where the remains of Viking ships with different utilities are exhibited. In the indoor area the naval activity of the Vikings is also traced and explained according to the different activities.
In addition, externally existing ships are rebuilt using the techniques of the time, thus reproducing the atmosphere of an ancient shipyard.

Nice museum if you like the Viking culture! They show 6 wrecked boats of the Viking era. As expected, some parts of the boats are almost inexistent, but it is worth visiting it. They also have a small video displayed on a regular basis.

Nice, well-organized and interactive museum about vikings and their ships. Parts of found ships are exhibited in a creative and beautiful way, but ships are also being recreated. You can view those ships (also on board) but you can also see how they build the ships.

It's cool to go with children. There are Viking games for them, you can ride on ship replicas. We wanted to do the rowing activity on a Viking ship, but the seats had already run out. I recommend going early. Visit worthwhile

A manageable museum that was built around the found and restored Viking ships. It is exciting to watch the craftsmen doing woodworking and rope making. The introductory film will be shown in the desired language.

Here in the museum you can learn a lot about seafaring at a time when the boats only had one sail and several straps as propulsion. But even more interesting in summer is to look over the shoulders of the farmers in the open factory halls, how sea-going replicas are created that also sail and maneuver on the Roskilde Fjord. I don't know if they still go to Greenland today, but the boat builders understand their craft and are happy to pass it on.

The 5 ships are more like ruins, so I would say they are not impressive by themselves. What is outstanding is the work to recover them, restore them, assemble them and then go beyond to construct new similar ships. The museum is great for showing all this!

To know everything about the drakkars. Compared to Norway, there is little left of the wrecks poured into the fjord to counter a landing. Comments are also mentioned in French, it is rather rare. Ship reconstruction workshops with the same techniques and tools as at the time are very interesting. The wrecks have been rebuilt identically and sail by the strength of trains handled by tourists who wish. There is the possibility of having lunch of a superb Danish sandwich with halibut. The shop offers a large selection of souvenirs of any size and any price. Must.

Viking Museum located in the town of Roskilde near the city of Copenhagen where we can find remains of 5 ships rebuilt with an age of 1000 years in a process that took them 25 years. I found it very interesting and there are movie passes at 11:00 in Spanish.

What a lovely and peaceful place to walk around and take in, and admire the fascinating history of the vikings. And to actually see real exhibits of original viking boats found in the seas nearby is absolutely mind blowing. This is really a great museum to learn from. And you can see, there's a lot of work building and restoring going on too.

The Viking Ship Museum is a part of the Oslo City ...

The Viking Ship Museum is a part of the Oslo City Pass experience so if you're taking the ferry or bus to Bygdoy island, this should be one of your first stops.

The museum is small, so it won't take you long at all to get through and it features three large Viking Ships. The space the ships are in is sort of odd for the type of structures it's holding, but there are stairs to get a more arial view of them so absolutely take advantage of that, you'll get much better pictures that way.

There are some really neat artifacts here as well and of course, there's a gift shop.

It's crazy to think that these ships, which are still intact all these years later were on the rough seas. It's remarkable, really if you think about it, but sadly, the thing that makes this museum not five stars is the fact that I felt it difficult to actually learn anything about them other than the fact that they are salvaged Viking Ships. It wasn't easy to really get information about the ships, but nonetheless it's a really cool thing to see so I still would recommend anyone visiting to check this museum out.

This museum provides you with a really cool experience in Viking history! The staff was very courteous and helpful and also joked and made light about one of the Viking ships that had been stuck on a sandbar waiting rescue. However everyone showed great sense of humor about it! Which I see I clearly display this aspect of my Danish heritage on a daily basis. However, I m just glad I wasn t on the ship! No worries they all came back;) If anyone is looking for a fun museum this one will not disappoint! Amazing artifacts, unbelievable Viking ship display and if your feeling up to the challenge; you can go out exploring on a Viking ship, watch for the sandbars;) Great staff, great museum and great memories!!

Lots of reconstructions of old Viking ships into modern format. Due to Covid and I guess windy conditions, all the sails are down in the harbor. Inside the museum itself, some conserved original ships are displayed. OK to visit but nothing special!

Nice museum where you can find the remains of five ships sunk by the same Vikings in the fjord of Roskilde. The skeletons of the ships are exposed in a salon overlooking the fjord. Outside you can visit and use the various workshops for the construction of Viking-era tools and see live the reconstruction of ships in shipyards. Also you can climb on Viking ships faithfully reproduced.

I may be a bit biased as today is a perfect day but this place is great if you have any level of interest in history or the Vikings in particular. Great outdoor ambience and good displays of the original boats. The Cafe is highly recommended for the Nordic food.

It was a dream! Old ships, practically intact, traditional workshops outside so children (and adults) could try to emulate this ancient civilization... and the best beer ever in a bar next to the museum from a local microbrewery. The museum shop was full of the coolest gifts ever. A must see if you go to Denmark. The train takes you there just fine and the walk from the train station to the museum prepares you to the magic of being in the first capital of Denmark. I always recommend the guided visits because there are full of fun facts... and serious facts too! Enjoy.
