Van der Valk Avifauna Review

Nice bird park and definitely recommended to go here

Beautiful hotel room. Unfortunately the dinner was disappointing but the breakfast was delicious.

Last week eaten for the first time at van der valk restaurant Alphen a / d Rijn.
What a friendly and prompt service, and the food was really delicious! We will definitely come back sometime soon!

Park quite dated especially the restaurant in the park. Furthermore, in bad weather there is a game room for which you have to buy a bracelet, but unfortunately you have to pay for all fairground attractions. I think it's a bad thing. Bird show was very nice.

Clean room with a spacious bathroom including shower and bath. Part of the Avifauna (birds) park is just a stone's throw from the reception, and for the other part of the park (the rest of the animals) there is a shuttle service. The reception, the restaurant and the rooms are in different buildings. To have breakfast, you have to go out and cross the car park. Not ideal in winter but you will warm up later in the tropical greenhouses of Avifauna Park while watching the toucans. The restaurant is cozy and has a nice menu. The taboulet salad was fresh and tasty. The mixed grill plate is hearty and the meat is of excellent quality with perfect cooking. I recommend!

One of our favorite hotels of the Netherlands. At Avifauna my wife and I park and forget the car. We hang out at different areas on the Hotel grounds - bird park, several snack areas , restaurants, hotel bar, boat rides, playground for kids, and casino for adults. More than enough to keep you busy for a small get-a-way.
Tip: hotel guests are allowed into the bird park before it opens and after it closes. The lighting and shadows are perfect at those times for taking photos.

If there is room outside on the terrace (inside it is rather stuffy), you are more comfortable there than in the bird park itself!

Location wise fine.
The rooms are bizarrely noisy. When people walk across the hall it is like walking across your room.
Rooms are very quaint. One of the chairs had very strange dirty stains. Everything is due for replacement.

Lovely hotel with a small old fashioned bar and really nice staff. We had the luxury of staying in the wellness suite, with a little trouble in the beginning, but the staff made sure the troubles would be gone after our diner. (And they were gone!) We spend our afternoon in Avifauna and it was the perfect timing. You can easily take your time and observe every bird and animal within an afternoon. Overall it was lovely to stay there.

Very nice for a day out. You can walk here and watch all the birds. Then have a delicious dinner in the restaurant. Park is clean, bird enclosures look clean and also for children is this location and great experience.

The restaurant is good, but the park needs a freshening up!

On a sunny day in March we sat down on the hotel terrace for lunch. I ordered the bouncer, without ham (I don't eat animals). I received a plate with the bouncer and a plate with two slices of bread. I cut off a piece of the egg and a piece of ham came out immediately. The waitress ignored me, so I walked over to tell her there was ham in the bouncer. To which she replied: "I now have my hands full" (the logic of this escaped me). I sat down again, after a while she came to our table and asked if it was really ham. I showed her. She took the plate with a slice of buttered sandwich and I would get another bouncer. Fine. The bouncer came without extra bread, I had to ask for this, it was promised to bring it, but no extra bread was brought. Eventually asked another waitress and then the bread arrived. A pity, because the rest had already finished eating for a long time and I ended up eating a cold bouncer.

Great casino for its size. The staff has a lot of class and are always polite. The atmosphere is very cozy and the machines all work very well and are modern. They do a lot of activities such as free bingo and the like. In addition, there is enough parking space for cars. Very often tasty food is also present (often something else). The only drawback is that it is not very big (if you like big casinos), but I think they had everything you want.

Great hotel between Amsterdam and The Hague. From here, in 20-25 minutes you can reach both the tulip park and Amsterdam by car. I liked the bird park nearby. For residents of the hotel, admission is free at any time, but they do not recommend walking in the dark. Birds are freely available, parrots can be fed. Great family rooms - two-story with huge beds in each of the 2 rooms. There is a kitchenette, a huge bathroom

We love to feed animals watching colored parakeet with cup of juice and that they sit on my arm and shoulder

Very nice park, especially for small children who still have to learn to distinguish animals. And you also walk among some animals.

Great hotel and the best part is the free entrance to the very well-kept and very varied Fogelpark. So if you are looking for a well-kept hotel with good food, a bird park with a huge playground and a very reasonable price, this is the place for you. So a very clear recommendation from me.

Food was good only the young staff couldn't handle the crowds. Many things forgotten in the orders.
