It is a very large hospital, but the layout is clearly well worked out.
For the consultations that we have already had, it was always very acceptable in terms of waiting time.
A well-organized hospital.
And the ample parking space and accessibility are also plus points.

Double feeling about this attitude. Medical imaging and MRI services have left a very good and competent impression. Extremely friendly too. As good as this experience was, so bad (to the disgusting point) is my experience with professor Dr. P.V, orthopedics department. Possibly (?) Skilled in his field, downright humanly unprecedented horror.

Regarding service: Psychiatrist / sleep center!

Regarding service: Psychiatrist / sleep center!

I will remain a regular customer at the UZA,
After a Tonsillectomy and many post-checks, I was sent back by the ENT to the sleep center department.
Another conversation with a psychiatrist as well as a night stay (30/01/2020) in the sleep center. (Polysomnography)
Now I have to come again by appointment at NKO on Sat 20/06/2020 at 11:00 pm.
I dare to put my hand in the fire that they refer me back to the sleep center, as I have already thought, another appointment with DR Van Gastel. they can all go wrong !!

UZA = A large factory where number is handled so much!
Substandard patient help and arrogant Doctors who prefer to work you out as soon as possible !!
Older people are treated with absolutely no respect, whether they have good or bad mobility !?
They are put in a shed and left to their own devices and after a long wait for help they have to find the solution to the problem themselves!

Welcome long waiting times but sometimes good progress, waiting room long waiting times. The appointment for the hour usually ends. Friendly service. Ample parking, paying and wheelchair friendly and covered parking easy to use due to the lights above the parking lot; red light parking space occupied, green light parking space free and visible from afar. Also the possibility to get out at the roundabout at Fontijn near the entrance of the patient so that he or she does not have to walk too far. There are also wheelchairs to use Fontijn with euro lock. Cafeteria is good, tasty dishes and desserts. Fairly wide assortment, mostly friendly service.

Doctors are all well in their profession. But why do you have to make an appointment? EVERY time is more than 1 hour late. And then they dare to mention: "if you do not meet the agreement, you have to pay 20euro" .. can they also pay my parking EVERY time if they are too late?

As the ombutsdienst is on vacation, as a patient you must take the law into your own hands with the relevant department of doctor or head of service. Which leads to frustration with the relevant doctor or head of department. They are unable to solve related problems, therefore the relationship between doctor and patient breaks and the patient eventually leaves the hospital with negative experiences and never returns.
Positive points: Staff treat the patient as to how it should be
Work points: Heads of service etc ... Respect is hard to find for the patients.

Good morning Arjana Cools,

Thank you from your call after 1 year and 6 months I finally get to hear YOU on my voicemail then and on a Friday at 7.30 am.
The message that you have left or recorded is not correct by any means !!!!

Now correct this misunderstanding !!!
I do not file a complaint against you which you mention on the phone, I do expect an answer to my 2 emails and registered letter that I sent to you last year THAT IS DIFFERENT FROM what you think !!!!

You colleague has misunderstood the telephone message and has passed on the respect for the patients to her. It is still possible to look for her .But she is in a school I have heard.
Finally, I had also learned that she has only been working on the ombutsdienst for 5 months.
Then you should already have a bit more experience and be able to guide patients when you work at the ombutsdienst.
More confidence would also be a plus for patients if they report a problem to you.
Know your file about this and provide professional advice ... what else does an ombutsdienst serve ... ???

I remain very kindly do not scrape you there are ombutsdienties that do their work where you can learn a lesson from !!!!

After 30y UZA I consulted the ombutsdienst for the second time in 2016, what will I get the door NOW !!!
Your colleague before you had more experience and knew how to treat the patients.
Since it is hard to find with you.
Do you think you are MORE than me, we are all whatever function you perform.

You can continue to email me or contact me by telephone about this. You will always receive an answer that was far from your liking in 2016.

Know your file about this and provide professional advice ... what else does an ombutsdienst serve ... ???

Would say stand in my shoes how would you react about this if you were treated like this ... ???

No one goes to a hospital with pleasure. There are always reasons for concern and fear.
But if it is necessary, for example, to have a 3D CT scan made, then the first thing you notice is the friendliness of the hospital staff. This applies in my case from the check-in to the taking of the photos.
Very comfortable is the route that one has to follow to the relevant department, no more searching, ending up in one go at the right place, that is surely a better solution, my compliments to those who thought of this.
Some time later I had to report again for a heart catheterization.
Again I experienced the reassuring atmosphere of both the nurses and the doctors.
It was so pleasantly relaxing that it even made a joke in between.
Look I don't know who brought this positive atmosphere to this excellent hospital, but it can be an example for our society.
The heart catheterization went flawlessly, was very experienced and expert, found the right puncture spot in one go, without puncturing and therefore not burdensome. The reassuring information from the sympathetic nurse was very comprehensive and clear. The executive cardiologist Dr. Guy Lenders has also done his job very professionally and patiently, my compliments for this top team.

Hopefully I don't have to go back soon, but if it is then I don't look up like it used to be.

Reception and signage are below par. The hospital is largely outdated and customer registration is not well organized. I was waiting more than an hour because I had not been properly registered in the 'system'. Very unprofessional. Not a bad word about the doctors.

On October 5 at 4:00 PM we had an appointment with...

On October 5 at 4:00 PM we had an appointment with Dr. Vermander for an excision of my eye and shoulder.

Until now we have always been with Dr. Van Dyck, who always treated us with respect and always informed us very well about what was going to happen and what he was going to do.

This time we had an appointment with Dr. Vermander.

When we were called in we were welcomed by 2 nurses, which is what we initially thought because no one had introduced themselves.

From the moment we entered, these 2 "nurses" started the procedure quite chaotically without any explanation of exactly what they were going to do. (We later found out that these 2 "nurses" were actually doctors and one of them was Dr. Van Hoof) They also didn't tell us at all that they would use a different procedure this time. Since we received no explanation, we assumed that the procedure would be the same as with Dr. Van Dyck.

We realized that during this procedure, when it was too late, they were using electrocautery. We would never have agreed to use this technique on the face, because of the high risk of scarring and discoloration, which is what happened. I have also not been asked if I take blood thinners, which should also be done before using this technique.

Also during the procedure a third person comes rushing in without knocking and without introducing himself while I lie on the table half naked and the first thing he does is verbally abuse our 4 year old son. This person, who turned out to be Dr. Vermander, apparently had a problem with the presence of our son.

If he had a problem with something, he should have addressed us, the parents, and not our son.

At the time we didn't say anything because the other 2 people were doing an excision just above my eye, and after the procedure we were quite shocked at Dr. Vermander's abruptness towards our son and didn't really realize what had just happened because everything happened pretty quickly. Afterwards we actually realized what had happened.

Myself, who knows this procedure a little bit, didn't even have a chance to refuse to use this on my face, but for someone who doesn't know about it, this would have been a very traumatic experience.

I have never been more humiliated and insulted.

Doctors have taken an oath to help and respect people and NOT to act as superior to the patient.

I do not understand how they achieved the mother-child label there, but I advise anyone pregnant to be followed or given birth there. Only bad experiences. 7 months pregnant I call UZA because of pain in the belly. The appointment service calls the gynecologist on duty and passes on the message: "She can go to the doctor so that he can prescribe kine." This without speaking or investigating me !! ??
Appointments are very often moved to random other dates and hours without coordinating with the patient.
Ombudsman service called to pass on complaint. The answer "Yes, they are busy".
Gynecology appointment service is extremely unprofessional and super rude. I have decided to end my succession at this hospital.
There are indeed some good doctors but I would approach these through private practice.

+ Being able to make an appointment easily (ophthalmology department), friendly and helpful staff.
+ The specialist and her assistant took more than enough time to perform all possible tests and investigations in detail and spontaneously gave a clear explanation of what they were going to do and then also a detailed result. They were not even too shy to consult a specific subject specialist for additional research.
- What is disappointing is the chaotically arranged and crowded parking lot where you can easily look for a place for fifteen minutes ...

This hospital is moaning under the 'bed pressure', which means that decent healthcare cannot be guaranteed. Only after an intervention on the stoma was literally evicted from the room, while recovery was still needed. A few days later with a bleeding stoma go back to emergency to be sent home! Doctors do not properly follow up their patients.
They do not deserve the JCI label, although this is a label only because of the procedures followed and does not consider friendliness and competence necessary ...

The telephone operators are very unfriendly and aggressive. This is not an incident. Read more reviews, other people are affected. More often happened to me. In addition, there are very long waiting times. And you may have to deal with unexpected costs. These costs have to do with -not having the knowledge- in the department, after which you are the victim of it. Good luck all.

One of the better hospitals in Antwerp. Friendly and very professional staff. Driven people with a passion for their work. They sometimes use advanced techniques. The food is varied and very tasty by hospital standards. Free wifi throughout the hospital. Convenient mini supermarket at the entrance. The buildings are well maintained. A hospital stay is never pleasant, but if I have to choose a hospital it is certainly UZA.

Here they help you if another hospital does not know what to do or you do not want to be admitted.

Very sad experience in pediatrie today. Left our w...

Very sad experience in pediatrie today. Left our whole family completely broken. Our 10 month baby had a severe rash after wrong advice of a pediatre and didn t sleep all night before the MRI. She was crying her heart out and scratching her belly to blood. She was not allowed to eat or drink for 10 hours before..We had to hold her hands to prevent her from scratching all the way to the hospital. They said pediatre will come but it turned out to be only assistant. She said she has a cream for it and she will make sure it will be put straight after procedure when the baby wakes up. The procedure was 3h late, the doctor has disappeared, none of the nurses informed us what to do. The baby woke up after anaesthesia and started itching like crazy. They said the doctor will come to examine within 30 min max or even faster. Guess what? The doctor never came, her assistant came 2 hours later only with prescription that we already had from before ( the previous doctor promised to put medicine straight away and disappeared forever). On top of that if you ask something they always say how busy they are and how they have a queue of 100 dying babies to make you feel guilty for this while 5 nurses are chatting in the reception. This is complete misguisguidance, horrific time management and false promises. If we knew it would be like that - we wouldn t waste 3-4h of time after not sleeping for 24h while our baby is suffering and will have found a different solution. We were falsely adviced by nurses or the assistant on the phone that doctor is coming any minute throughout 3 h time while baby was hungry and in terrible rush. Nobody checks the baby and said if we can leave or not. With this unskillful time management and lack of organisation it s no surprise there is a queue of babies who need help and no time for treat them. All they told me is that if your baby isn t dying it s ok. At least we could be informed not to waste our time and let our baby suffer, but no one at all seemed to care at route number 10.

So a golden tip, check BEFORE recording whether your data is correct, correcting it afterwards is practically impossible even with registered mail.

For my 3rd jaw operation I had to go to the uza, the previous 2 were in az monica and went well. The uza was a disaster, in advance at the anesthesia for a pre-interview a week before the surgery, also there again got to be sure on time, 6:30 in the morning, my intervention stood as 1 of the first on the list so to speak . Day of the operation, my partner took two days of leave to be able to feed and assist me. First we had to wait an hour before we could go to the room, then without any news (I had to stay sober all the time) until 3:30 pm in the afternoon waiting for an operation that was scheduled in the morning. And now the climax: DR A comes to tell me that DR B can not be present and therefore the operation needs to be moved to a different date. Very angry, especially due to the total lack of communication! None of the nurses knew anything, every time I asked when it was up to me (my partner still needed her daughter) I got the answer that I am on it and I just have to be patient. Never again uza!

A fantastic hospital with the exception of the emergency service which is a disaster. The first time I came in with a hurt foot. The arst said that I could exercise back within three days. Two days later, however, I walked around with a plaster. The second time I came in with a severe allergic reaction. I had written down all ingested products and food as this can be useful (while I had severe itching and my throat was nearly closed). They have absolutely not taken this into account, so I have had to redo my story no fewer than 7 times. As a result, I also later had problems with the allergology department.

Months in advance an appointment made at 9.50 am. ...

Months in advance an appointment made at 9.50 am. The day before still no message with route in the hospital received. Then I called myself and received confirmation that I had to be there at that time via a certain route. The person made a practicable appointment, Junior, had put my telephone number in the wrong box. An hour later I miss a phone call because I am changing my son, immediately called back and I arrive at a center that immediately called me back because they did not know who had called. No more phone calls. I leave for my appointment on time and suddenly receive a message that I have to be there half an hour earlier. Arrived completely stressed I check in. The lady at the counter casually tells me that Junior knew well, she often makes mistakes and oh, no stress because the surgeon is still in the operating theater and the first appointment has been waiting for more than an hour. Now it is extremely difficult for me to provide care for my two sons (physical. Disability) and I now have quite some experience with hospitals as a result and I have not experienced this in the last year. In UZ Leuven and UZ Sint Maarten well organized, neatly on time, clear where you need to be in advance so that you can plan everything with the home front. And then if that doctor will be in the operating theater for many hours, will the patients be informed so that their appointment can be moved? What a disappointment, say!
Edit: after an hour an assistant from the doctor came to talk to me, apparently the doctor was not even on the role for consultations and everything went wrong when booking the appointment and communicating with the desk afterwards. In any case, it has been the first and last time. Unfortunately!

The staff we had to do was very cute, very friendly, smiley and very eager to help. I came with my child in Romania to Mrs. Tassignon who is a million-patient with a lot of patience, calm and very nice and kind.
Medical background very attentive and smiling, eager to help. We all understood in English.
Cleanliness, large lounge with wc in the lounge. Wc has toilet paper and in the lounge are chairs and handmade paper. The salon also contained surgical masks and gloves, a flat glass of disposable glass, disinfecting solution that was even full. The salon is also fitted with a small closet and small closet with mini fridge and a drawer with a cipher. Soap I did not understand why it's not so many conditions, but ...
What seemed strange to me about Romania is that everyone in the hospital is dressed in home clothes, not in pajamas, and what I did not like at all is the fact that both medical staff and interned patients are walking outside. In Romania, medical falls and patients have indoor footwear. There are many microbes coming from outside.
LG TV in the room plus free wifi. All the conditions were beyond my expectations.
So get the hospital. I was very pleased.
