We had a salesmen by the name of Ty and he was wonderful. He helped my wife and me pick out a new 2020 Highlander. We gave him our budget and let us demo the SUV. We decided to test drive the Pilot as well to make the best decision. After getting done with Honda they offered to get us into the EX-L model with all the features at $570 a month. I relayed that to Ty and he said he could do the lower end Highlander at $560. We decided on going with the Toyota as my wife preferred that. After getting back to the lot Ty pulled up the base model and the model with leather. I then asked him what the best deal he could get me on the higher model as Honda was offering the EX-L at $570. He ran inside and spoke with the manager. He came back out with paperwork showing he could get the mid model for the same price. My wife and i went a head and did the credit app. Once it was completed he came back and said he made a mistake and it was the base model only he could do for $570. So not only was he lying about the base being $560 they also lied about the mid model being $570. This turned out to be a typical BAIT and SWITCH!!! I called the GM and i was told everyone makes mistakes and that it was our fault for not listening correctly. Needless to say we drove down the street and got the HONDA PILOT EX-L and they were true to their word. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE HUSTLED! I will make sure to never recommend this dealership and send everyone i know 5 miles down to HONDA! I will also be contacting the complaint department with Toyota Corporate!
Totally ripped off and I will make sure every social media outlet has this review. I bought a vehicle 1/13/2016 and a warranty what they did NOT TELL ME that for $2500 the warranty was up to mileage or months....here's the crappy snakey part....the term was 36 months 36,000 miles.....the car had 35,118 miles on it at the time of purchase. They ripped me off for $2500 on a warranty that was good for only 880 miles.
I would not leave a single star. I was put into a used 2013 Rouge that I started hearing noise before my first payment. Been calling and calling Toyota and leave messages no call backs from them. Bad enough I told Benjamin that I had bad experience with Nissan and he didn't listen and puts me in one. Second I'm handicap and have trouble get in and out of it. I was not asked to test drive the vehicle the only reason I took the suv is because I needed a reliable car and I wasn't given any other cars to choose from never thought Universal Toyota would be shady like this. After calling for 2 weeks and not getting any answers I Definitely will be calling BBB.
Antonio was awesome to work with, he was easy to talk to and got me into an awesome new vehicle. Thanks
Had great customer service at this place this morning
45 minutes ago, after being here 2.5 hours for an oil change and tire change, I was told they were working on fixing the tire. 45 minutes ago. It doesn't take 45 mins to patch or change a tire and if it does you need to hire new mechanics.
Wasted 3 hours of my time waiting to get a remote start put on my Corolla a year ago. They finally told me they didn t have the part and to come back which never happened because nobody told ever called to tell me the part came in. Fast forward to present day they are extremely lazy and won t honor my warranty on the inside and outside coats I purchased on my highlander. The moment I find another location that s feasible I will never come back.
I was really nervous about the car buying process. But the staff was very friendly and got me a deal paying less than what I was expecting to pay. And it was fast. I got more than expected. Excellent experience!! Do yourself a favor and make UT your first stop.
Terrible people to work with. All they do is lie to their customers! DO not go to this dealership!
I own a 2017 1794 Edition Tundra. On Apr 27, 2019 I took it in for regular service for 75K miles. I was well received at the service dept and showed where I could wait. approx 1.5 hours later the service writer informed me that they had found something very irregular from a previous brake job done at another dealer. UT did not have the part on hand but they had taken the time and trouble to call around SA for the part and found it on the other side of town but it would take them 1.5 hours to get the part to repair the problem. There was another 1,5 hr wait. but I told them to go and get the part. Service writer Malcolm then got in on the conversation and he stood up for me and said that the dealership would pay for the part and repair of the fault from the other dealer. I told them That I needed to pick up my wife at NE Lakeview College. They offered me the use of their shuttle to do this. While waiting for the shuttle to return another employ saw me sitting in the area and asked if something was wrong. After explaining everything to Ruben Gomez from finance dept he went to get his truck and gave me the keys to his truck so that I could get my wife. Both Malcolm and Ruben went high above what would be expected of them. Both men were volunteering themselves to help me thru this ordeal. Both represented Universal Toyota with great distinction and service to a customer. I feel that they should be recognized by management for such outstanding service for the dealership. They will have all of my business in the future.
Friendly faces, quick service, great place. That was my experience.
Mr. George was a huge help. He was very informative and made me very comfortable with sharing my wants and needs. He is a trustworthy salesmen and I m looking forward to doing business with him in the future.
Spent over a week dealing with Horace, nice guy but before we drove down from Austin we explained everything. We arrived to a super dirty test drive but still a truck my son was interested in, this is where the game began. This should have been an easy transaction but the so called director didnt want to budge after he knew what our expectations were prior to arriving.Since they have called twice with more BS offers and one even about his blacked out taillights. My son drives a badass SCATPACK but as a first responder wanted to move to something more practical for himself and his jobs, but NO GO from this dealership. As his first car purchase this was a valuable lesson in dealing with some dealerships.
Stay blessed people and #staysafe.
Proud Father
Bad customer service, worst experience ever! Traded in a vehicle and paid down payment and was told if not satisfied I could get money back. Not true, after 2 Rav4 with the same issues stalling out in traffic I wanted my money back I was told I could not get money back I had to choose another vehicle picked a 3rd vehicle and I'm having problems with it too. Parts on the vehicle don't go with the model it was on so buyer beware. I am done with Universal Toyota very bad customer service and false information to make a sale I would not recommend anyone to use this dealership ever.
The salesman was courteous and helpful. Facilities were clean, organized and easy to peruse. I was quickly and efficiently shown vehicles in my price range and did not feel unduly pressured to buy. I fully intend to make that dealership my first stop when I need to make another auto purchase.
Very disappointed! Why would you make an appointment for me and the parts aren't in stock? 2 hours of my Saturday wasted!
The appointment was quick, the service was great, and Felix was excellent! He kept me informed of the repairs while I waited. and advised me of all recalls on my vehicle. I always get me vehicle serviced at this location. Thanks.
Bait and switch scam! Drove over 3 hrs to look at a cheap car they advertised. Called ahead to make sure it was available and it's condition. David stated that it was available and in great condition "granny" car. Upon arrival, David disappeared and sent Xavier to work with us. Asked to see the car, but conveniently it was no where to be found because it was now on their whole sale lot but they wouldn't tell us why. We told them we were there to pay cash for the car and only planned to pay $2000 plus TTL. Xavier then told me that the car, advertised at $1995 would be $3000-4000 after TTL. I told him that that was a joke as TTL doesn't cost $1000-2000 in Texas.
He then basically forced us to look at a crappy Nissan which we had no interest in... Over 200k miles and trashed on the inside. He finally drove us over to see the PT Cruiser but wouldn't let us start it or drive it.
Then drove us back to the office only to start the high pressure sales pitch on the Nissan. He then asked why we wouldn't pay more for a car. He then asked us to put the $2000 down on a car and finance the rest. I told him I wouldn't do that so then he asked my 17 yr old son if he would. SERIOUSLY?!
He then disappeared and came back with a sales doc for the Nissan then told us that there was "something" wrong with the engine on the PT that would cost $1500 to fix and the proceeded to act like we would buy the Nissan.
At this point we stood up and walked out. He acted butt-hurt that we wouldn't discuss the Nissan with him.
Universal Toyota is a total joke and doesn't care about anything but their bottom line. They have officially lost our business now and in the future. Car buyers BEWARE!
Service center is a joke, not sure if they are lazy unqualified or just dont care. Took my new 2019 tundra in, was hearing noises in the rear suspension area, was told they "inspected it" and found nothing, waited for 2 hours. When they brought it out I heard that same noise again, one of the mechanics rode with me and said he heard it too, that he had seen this issue before. I was advised to leave it over night, I agreed. I got a call around 9 am give it take saying they fixed the issue, (these guys are a joke) I get told that the issue was 3 LOSE LUGNUTS in the front passenger tire, that was causing that noise. I didn't believe it, I go to pick up my truck (the shuttle was an hour late to pick me up no phone call or anything to inform me he was running late), I had to call and speak with the service manager who was no help all he said is "he is down town that's why it's taking him longer to get to you", like seriously dude? I finally make it there and there is no one there to help me, they bring my truck around and guess what...... yes that freaking noise is still there. I finally said enough and took my truck to San Marcos Toyota, and the mechanic tells me I have a bent axle, they told me it was built like that and that they would fix it. San Marcos Toyota is awesome put me in a rental car and keeps updating me.
I love this place i go there for all my vehicle purchases. Great Customer Service
Full parking lot, but Toyota guys everywhere taking care of us. Great Service
Never got an answer to my question, just wanted to sell me parts and labor in place of answers...I'll just keep going to Alamo Toyota/281. It's a lot further be they give you answers and explain them....
Good place to purchase a vehicle or have an oil change.
They are very polite and take care of all your needs, love Everytime I go !!!
The easiest car buying experience that I ve ever had! Tom, the sales agent, did a great job making this process super easy. We negotiated and bought the car within an hour of discussing our firm price. Look for Tom, he s a great sales guy: down to earth, dedicated, and friendly.
They have amazing customer service. Everyone makes you feel like family especially Eloy from the Used Car lot. I bought my car here and got into a wreck which totalled my car and I returned to the same dealership to look for my next one. They explain everything you need to know about the car and car purchasing process. I highly recommend Universal Toyota.
Emailed to ask if vehicle was in stock, two times and no reply.
First time buyer took my recently purchased usedToyota tacoma for an allignment at 730 am with an appointment was told I didn't have one 4 hours later it turns out nobody checked my car in!!!! I have two boys 4 and 5 tellibg me they were hungry and now i keep calling and no one seems to know anything about my truck.smh
Sales staff are too pushy. Franco Cruz did not care about my time. I was clear on what vehicle I wanted and I was shown cars above my price range and ones that would not fit my family. He kept trying to get me to meet the manger or would go to the back to get something and would be gone for 10 minutes. What I found very interesting is that he did not have a business card when I asked him. We had to walk out just to leave. On another note, he would tell me and my wife how this job was just a stepping stone job and that with his business degree he was getting a better job soon.
Found a great deal on a used vehicle online. I called to confirm that the car was still available on the lot using the make, model, year and mileage to identify the vehicle. I was told that it was available and headed straight over. Upon arrival to the dealership, 20 minutes later, I was shown a different vehicle. I explained that I wanted to see the vehicle I had inquired about. I was then told it was just sold.
I voiced complaints and was told that they were working on the paper work at the time of my phone call and so the system hadn't updated. The salesman immediately started trying to sell me a new vehicle. I left the dealership frustrated.
I was then called that afternoon saying that the car was being lent out and was returning that day (Saturday). The salesman finally texted me Monday saying the car was back and sent me a text picture of the vehicle as proof. He started pressuring me to put a deposit down for the purchase of the vehicle. After placing the deposit I was notified that several other interested parties had placed deposits on the same vehicle.
I therefore, did not get the vehicle and wasted hours of my time. This was clearly an attempted bait and switch and the whole situation was handled unprofessionally. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone! Save yourself some time and aggravation and go elsewhere.
Was looking for 4x4 off road and Hans quickly showed us two different ones. Was looking to stay in budget and he took time to work with us. We really liked a higher cost Tacoma but were weary about the payments. Hans worked on it and got us exactly where we wanted the payments to be.
They sell me an oil change package that was two oil changes. Got the first one and no issues, go to use the second and I'm told that its expired. What a scam this place is, the advisor didn't say anything about an expiration date and there wasn't anything in the paperwork either. I don't understand why a dealership would do this for a simple oil chance. Well they made a few extra bucks on me one time, but lost any return business or chance of me ever purchasing a vehicle from them in the future. Hope that extra $20 you made was worth it.
Great Service and Great VIP follow up.
I went in for a Oil change and bought a new car instead. There was no pressure by the sales or financial team. They had me out of there in 3 1/2 hours most of the time was due to me testing driving. KT my sales person was very patient with me and in no way pushy to sell me a car like most dealers are. The finance department worked with me to get the right payments for my budget. This is the best dealerships in Texas 5 stars and I should mention the car I was sold was exactly what I wanted. They didn't try to sell me a cheaper car when I told them my budget instead they made it happen for the car I asked to purchase. To me that says and means a lot. Thanks Universal Toyota
California Mike is the one to go see! He will take care of you!
You have to come see franco the carguy cruz!!
Hes on Twitter, instagram, and facebook! Sooo genuine and he writes every customer a letter once per month to keep in touch
After an accident totalled our van, we found a replacement at Universal Toyota. Hans Hardin was our salesman and he was great to work with. He never made us feel pressured and worked hard to get us the deal we wanted. We will definitely be back when it is time to replace this vehicle!
I bought my second car from Universal Toyota this weekend, and that is not to say I haven't visited several other dealerships. Universal has always given me the best deal and found a way to get me the car I wanted. Ezekiel and DJ are great salesmen. I highly recommend Universal Toyota.
Do not use the service department here. Some stole $150 out of my truck. I called to tell my service advisor, I know no one is going to confess to taking the money but at least to file a complaint. My service advisor has yet to call me back.
First and foremost, Robert Tadefa is a very sincere man that was kind, considerate, and his primary goal was to make sure that I left in a car that was RIGHT for me. I never felt rushed or pressured, and he made himself available to me whenever I needed him during the sale.
I went to Universal Toyota thinking that I wanted a car with great gas milage, so we were looking at the Prius After driving the Prius, though, I realized I wasn t comfortable driving a compact car (after driving an SUV for 20 years).
Robert was extremely understanding and suggested moving up to a larger sedan and I purchased an Avalon. The new design of the Avalon with the Limited package makes it look and feel like a luxury sedan.
I am absolutely happy with this dealership! I always go in for an oil change there and the staff are always friendly. I originally went in for an oil change, since they do have the buy one get one at the moment, and ended up seeing about getting into a new vehicle! My credit isn't the best, and have always been turned down due to that, or needing a high down payment. Not only did David help with looking into what they could get me into, but they made sure to go the extra mile and didn't just give up with the sight of my credit score. I drove out in a new CHR the next day. :) Thank you David!
I purchased a used truck from Universal Toyota about 3 months ago with tires that the dealership had put on. My first problem came when there was a nail in my back tire. Discount Tire would not repair due to the illegal patch that had been put on it before sale BY THE DEALERSHIP. My second problem came when my front tire blew out on the highway. Note, that I have driven this truck for less than 9,000 miles. Do not buy from this dealership. They are putting second hand Cooper tires on their vehicles. Dealership was no help when contacted, and told me this is just "normal wear and tear". I would give zero stars if that was an option. Extremely poor service and buyers beware.
The sales manager Mark is very gamey. They say one thing and do another.
Good sales persons and very friendly. Great deals.
Just bought a Tundra this past weekend, salesman, Luis Hernandez, was very helpful and worked with all my needs and what I could work with financially. Great atmosphere overall..
Totally disappointed in the professionalism. The sales person gave me the run around. Didn't return calls. I sat for hours without answers and then sent home with their car. To many issues. Went to get my keys back and of course they couldnt find them. Oh and the receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional. I guess my being upset gave her the right to make the mad cat snarl in my presence.
I cannot begin to describe the experience that I had this past Thursday with this dealership. I had less than perfect credit and explained this over the phone. To say that Mario Rendon is an excellent salesman is an understatement. He actually listened to me, what I wanted and what was in my budget. This is the first time that I have ever had a car salesman actually listen to me. He was patient and basically walked the entire lot until I found what I wanted and could afford. In previous experiences I was always waiting 5+ hours to finalize paperwork and have the keys in my hand. From the moment I spoke with Mario, to finalizing the paperwork with Mark, this was the most fantastic experience I have ever had with a dealership and I am so grateful! (Thank you Mario, Sam and Mark!)
Thoght with a new car purchase. my trade in would be more. In finance the Total care package was too fast and when I asked was it an extended warranty. ....not a right out yes.......anyway I wanted an extended warranty.Jose was great.
The best experience I've ever had buying a new car. I'm 54, not wooed by new paint, and ask many questions to make my decisions on what it is "EXACTLY" that I am looking for... My salesman was Ohannes Komorian. It was extremely clear that he felt the same way. When we met, I said, "I'm thinking about a Camry, and I am not sure what I want?" He said, "That is my job, and what I am here for!", and that is exactly what he did folks. He was patient, let me asks my questions, showed me every difference I wanted to consider, didn't pressure me on anything, and showed me all of the cars/colors/interiors I considered... When you walk away appreciating, and writing this about your car salesman for his service to you as a buyer; that is saying something.
California Mike. (That s is what he goes by guys). His task was to educate me about my purchase, and make sure I was leaving knowing what I needed to know about my car. Again, fantastic. He was energetic about my information, smiling (not artificial), and had a good attitude about it. Perfect! Thank you, and again, I am appreciative of the level of commitment towards me, as a new buyer not knowing everything about this car yet.
This is a Dealership that is managing its business. The people are happy; the attitudes are positive, and they truly helped me make my decisions based on facts relevant, and important to me. I would recommend them very highly. Thank you so much.
I bought my Toyota Tacoma there bunch of nice people in the service area sales guys are not too pushy either good place to shop for a car I got me a truck
They have a great team at Universal Toyota. CALIFORNIA MIKE was super helpful, very patient, and really positive to work with. I was anticipating a really long day there but they were efficient and effective. I would highly recommend this dealership from anyone looking for a pleasant experience! Thanks again to Ruben and CALIFORNIA MIKE for helping me out! I love my new 2020 C-HR! This is hands down the best dealership in the area!
My family and I had the best possible experience . Daniel O. really took his time and to get us in the perfect vehicle. It's been two weeks since we got our car and I can't stop admiring it! I 'm still so in love my car! Special thanks to Daniel Ortega for helping me find the best car for me and my family.
Very polite and professional people. The valet is super nice and funny. Got everything done before the time I was given I had to wait. Super nice people.
It was a great place and recommend that everyone has to go at least talk to them.
Very good experience . Willing to negotiate and meet our needs.
Not a fan..... Just had a very long wait in a car deal that I was told was approved.... Only to find out that it wasn't, after I had insured and driven a vehicle for about a week and a half.....
Easiest car lease I have ever done!
No fuss, no $ down, just pay first month and agree to terms. Very straight forward.
Bought a car there a couple of years ago. Salesman was nice enough initially until I wasn't willing to let him jack up the price at the last minute or get it financed. They also advertised a free iPod nano with purchase. Told them about it and they looked at me like I fell out of a tree. Said they'd send it to me but I never got it. Was car shopping yesterday and was trying to look at a car advertised for $23000 and the jerk tried to tell me it was 28. A new car of the same model on the same lot was less. He tried to say that my price was a mistake. When he went in to check, we left. Steer clear of these crooks.
The experience I ve had at Universal Toyota has been A+++!! My salesman, Jose De La Garza, and his Sales Manager, Frank Vomero, have continuously gone above and beyond my expectations! Even after the sale, they are eager to answer questions and assist me with every step I ve needed to take! I ve owned other Toyotas in the past but now I know I will always have a Toyota family! I will never go any other place but Universal Toyota! Thank you Jose and Frank!
Ohannes Komorian was the salesperson that helped with the purchase of my new vehicle. He was very knowledgeable & patient. Even though it took two visits and several phone calls for me to decide there was no pressure from him. He did not tire of showing me as many vehicles as I chose, he wanted me to be happy with which ever one I decided on. I am happy to recommend Ohannes to anyone looking for a for a new Toyota.
Rose S
They made it right, but it was a hassle for a vacation planning inspection. They don't check things like air conditioner or wipers.
Fantastic place to purchase a vehicle. When I was shopping for my Tundra, Universal was the cheapest dealer in San Antonio, Boerne and San Marcos. Daniel and Michael are awesome! There is absolutely no pressure to get something you don't want and they actually listen to you. Gabe was awesome as well in working the deal to what we wanted to get and I appreciate that. Not only did I purchase one vehicle but, I purchased 3 with in two weeks. 2019 corolla, 2019 camry and my 2019 tundra. That tells you right there that I'm a universal customer and the experience was great.
After visiting several dealers, I went to Universal Toyota and was not disappointed. Mario worked and helped me every step of the way. The staff is friendly and really try to work with you. They now have my business and will recommend everyone I know to them.
Great service. Hector was very helpful with picking out new Tundra. Universal provided a very fair deal. We will continue to do business with Universal.
Brad was awesome! He made the whole experience so easy. Hated going to car dealers before now. Thank you for making it so quick and easy!!!
The salesperson
Ernest was very knowledge.honest;joseph c. Lima toyato yaris the last one
Salesforce great detailing of car for delivery could use some help Windows inside streaks said result if tinting.
Had a used car inspection completed from a 3rd party sale. They missed a few things in the inspection but nothing huge.
They facilitated the purchase of my vehicle as expected.
Great experience. Went too just look and ended up leaving in a 2016 TSS 4x4 Tundra. I have to thank Hans Hardin for helping me out from start to finish. He will literally do whatever it takes to make you leave in the vehicle you want.
Our experience with Universal Toyota was better than we could have expected. Our Sale Agent Candelario (Candy) Suarez Ortiz was great! He was professional, respectful, and listened to what we were looking for in a car. The entire staff treated us very well and made the process go smoothly. Thank you all for your help in making such an important decision!
As I sit here on my third visit to figure out what s wrong with my tire all I can say is DON T BUY from Universal Toyota. There s been a nail in the tire and it has been slowly deflating I mentioned it on our oil change in the beginning of the month and they said nothing was wrong, I came in three days ago specifically for the tire and they told me nothing was wrong and allowed me to drive off the lot. The next day the tire pressure light comes on and I check the PSI it s at 25 which they filled it to 35. We knew something was wrong with the tire and they just didnt bother checking it correctly. They don t care about your safety and are just plain lazy trading my car ASAP.
We went there and they assigned some young kid that had only been working there for months and this poor kid didn't listen to anything that we said but was trying to sell us something and that he wanted so we went to Cavender and bought a car
The vehicle I purchased in October has driven fine, service provided was wonderful. Thank you Horace! My issue is with the FINANCE DEPARTMENT. I singed paperwork at 11:30pm after a long battle back and forth over pricing. I advised the finance person Brian O Leary that I would be trading in my vehicle for something better within 3 years and it was explained to do it before 37k miles. I some how still got signed up for the extended warranty and came in less than 30 days to cancel in NOVEMBER.
Today I still have not received a phone call from ANYONE at the dealership or the funds for the extended warranty. Brian O Leary the finance guy that processed my loan has completely avoided my calls. The Finance Director Jennifer Munoz has avoided me completely. I was advised to speak with HR and at the time I was transferred to Heather Green and she assured me the issue would be resolved. Her explanation was my request was delayed because the individual that proceeded their cancellations was on maternity leave. She also has stopped answering my calls and come to find out she is NOT the HR Director but instead is the assistant to the General Manager.
I am in today AGAIN and they are still bullsttng me.
I will update this post once I receive my $2k dollars paid to my TFS account. Please feel free to reach out to me.
Excellent service dept. I appreciate their attention and professionalism.
I just purchased my FIRST brand new vehicle at Universal Toyota. I felt very taken care of and got the best deal. I shopped around and drove a few vehicles but Daniel Ortega was spot on when it came to getting all wants and needs in a vehicle at the price I was looking for. Very satisfied, I will be back for my next car.
