One of Universal's salespeople, Mario, told me via email he had new 2012 Corolla Ls available in essentially ever color and would sell me one for a specific price. I told him I would be there that afternoon. I drove all the way to Universal Toyota just to be told he wasn't even a "new car salesperson" and they didn't have any 2012s in stock. Mario first tried to sell me a more expensive used car, then pawned me off on a new salesperson who tried to sell me a 2013 model.

I went to a competitor's dealership the next day and bought a 2013 from a salesperson who was honest about his inventory before I made the drive.

My experience at Universal Toyota was very good thanks to the professionalism of Mr. Abiola and the finance department. The finance department did not pressure me into unnecessary packages and shared personal experiences. Mr. Abiola assured me he would fight for best deal and did. I felt like a valued customer from start to finish. Thank you.

I would not purchase or service a vehicle here. Let me tell you why. First off, purchasing a vehicle - a lot of moving numbers around here, not that other dealers dont do it, but here it seems like an art form. Being that I've sold cars before at a Toyota dealership and wouldnt allow them to keep trying to show me money in one area while taking it from another, it made them frustrated. However what made me pissed the most was once you sign the deal and waiting for your car, it's like your scum to them. I mean asking how much longer itll take for your brand new 40k vehicle to be ready is quite the imposition to a sales manager that was just kissing your but (prior to making a deal) an hr ago. I mean, they got you already, right ? Service department - treat the service department like your spouse getting ready to go out for the night. Whatever time they give you that your vehicle will be ready, just tack on an hr or two and you'll be much closer to reality. It's a joke how this service department keeps customers with their level or lack of communication and timeliness in delivering service.

Be cautious here. They will qoute you and tell you price but if more work is found and you decline, you will get hit with inspection fees. Many places give free brake inspections, not here.

Worst dealership ever... they don't remotely care about their customers. I will never buy a car from them ever again. Bought a used car from them 2015 Ford Taurus. You have 15 days to return a car. All of mine were spent with it in their repair shop. Video Console in the middle was broken and needed to be replaced. They sold me a car with a flat tire. Than within 30 days of purchase. The cover for the cup holder fall broke and the rear light for car plate fall out. All of which I'm responsible for. Than today when I go get my registration and plates. I had to put them in myself. Red Combs is the worst dealership I've ever seen in my life. Don't waste your time and hard earned money on people that don't care about you.

In need for a new vehicle or used go see Mario at Universal Toyota he was my salesman at the certified pre-owned vehicles and I couldn't be happier when my vehicle didn't have an issue he got on the service team and got the issue resolved that day you're the best Mario I appreciate you keep up the good work you have my business. He helps me go from an 05 Tundra to a 2013 F150 and I couldn't be happier what a Workhorse this truck is

NEVER again will I come here. I had $4,000 to give down and all I was looking for was a low monthly payment. All they were concerned with was having to pay for inspection fee and bank fees, not to mention they wouldn't even reduce the price of the vehicle I drove that had a spiderweb crack in the windshield. Take your money and business somewhere else. Even though I guarantee they need us more than we need them right now with this whole covid thing, they will not work with you in anyway shape or form.

I have a leased 2016 Camry SE and I went to universal toyota to see what deals they have on December 22nd, 2018.
I was going to return my current car and buy a new one. I asked them to give me 0%Apr on the new car and salesman told me that I would be qualifed for it if I have a high credit score which I have. So, I let them run my credit score. After a few minutes the manager told me that no matter what your credit score is, you cannot get 0% Apr and offered me a Toyota Camry LE (basic model) for $33,000.
They were trying to convince me that $33,000 is a good deal for a basic camry le which you can purchase for 24-25k at any other dealers.

Honestly never have had a good experience with them. I like Toyota and they have great cars. Just go to another dealership. Everytime I have been here it has been a waste of my time which usually envolved hours and hours.

Made an appointment for 9:30am today. Drove up and this random employee came to my vehicle and asked for my info to confirm my appointment. Dude came back and said it was looking like a 2 hour wait. After 2 hours past, I started looking for my vehicle. I left the service department at 11:50am without any service completed or started. Called the service desk and they said they would send the service guy over to talk to me. He comes over and proceeds to tell me that he quoted me 2-2 1/2 hours wait time. I told him NO he did not. Then I asked for his manager. Manager came over with the BS story about being sorry and that they had booked 160 appointments. Well, that s not my problem. I told him that they shouldn t be booking appointments they could not fill in a timely manner. That is not good customer service and money isn t that important. Who schedules back to back appointments and make people wait hours and still not complete a service? I only asked for an oil change and I had a scheduled appointment. I could see if I was a walk in but a scheduled appointment. That is what I call the worst customer service because you don t want to tell people no or you re too busy trying to make the most money to make your store look good. Well, that doesn t make sense to me. Food for thought TOYOTA, don t schedule a ton of appointments and have people wait hours for service or you will lose business like you have lost mine. I was going to actually look into buying a new car. That won t happen at that location now and perhaps I ll go to a whole different dealer brand. Take my money where it s appreciated! Don t do business at Universal Toyota in the future people, they ll disappoint you...

Had a great experience buying my car from these guys. The sales rep Bond was awesome and I could tell he was really working hard to get me in the car that I wanted with the budget that I had. Some of the managers did the typical "try to push more" on to him thing which was a little annoying and kind of insulting to my intelligence but once we got on the same page it was all smooth sailing. Also, there was a small hole in just one of my mats and they gave me an entire stock set (worth $200) free of charge. Will definitely recommend people here

Absolutely terrible customer service. Werner was my sales man and he was condescending and even though I live two hours away would not y all me any sort of payment or if I was approved. I told him I was looking for one car. Told him my down payment and when asked for numbers he just dodged the question saying well it just depends on things that didn t matter, gave me a payment range of 60 dollars when they had my credit income and down payment for multiple days. Then when I told him I found a car because he as dodgy got the most unprofessional texts saying. My credit score, 2000 down 200 a month, then 4000 down 300 a month none of which were possible or true, he as just saying hat to try and get me down there then switch me cars, bait and switch selling. Then after I tell him I bough, they proceed to call me again the next Saturday trying to get me in. I wouldn t buy from this dealer and having sold cars myself for years, Werner is your stereo typical salesman. Bait and switch, Dodgy, condescending. I wouldn t deal with him even if they had the best deal in the nation. Beware of Werner

My neice went to buy her first new/used car, she picked it out on line and went and saw Xavier to buy it. 4 hours later they were very underhanded and dishonest with her. Unfortunately she singed the contract almost out of exhaustion and frustration. I find out the next day that they sold this car to her for over $4,000 more than KBB and any other appraisal site. She was angered and frustrated to the point that she just accepted it. The did not even adequately clean it before she took possession.
All I know is I will let anyone I know buy a car from there in the future. $4000 more than fair market value for no other reason than they decided to screw a young woman over. STAY AWAY!

Took my 2016 Tacoma for engine noise, and give you...

Took my 2016 Tacoma for engine noise, and give you some past history Its been in and out of different dealerships so many times and not just for engine noise. Radio was replaced, bad smell from exhaust, wiper motor noise, Drive door issues, rear view mirror electrical, transmission issue, drive axle recall and engine noise.
My truck has been in several dealerships because no one was able to hear the noise. When I took it to Universal Toyota I just dropped it off for about 4 days. They tell me its ready to go. Pick up the truck and no more then a mile down the road Engine noise is still there. I look at the invoice to see what was done and notice that they did not take it down the road for a test drive. I know this because there weren't any other mile on the truck besides the ones I just put on the truck. So I went back to the dealership and had the services writer ride with me and he could hear the noise. My thoughts were thank god finally someone heard the noise. Services writer said " Sounds like your engine is coming apart" again I say Thank God now we can get this thing fixed.
I get a call the next day and was told that they cannot figure out whats making that noise, They tell me that they will get another truck same year and model and test drive it and see if it makes the same noise(maybe this is a normal sound)
I get a call the next day Good News we have found the problem! Its your high pressure fuel pump but he is the bad news. We do not have a pump in stock but we can order one and it will be here Saturday and we will install it Monday. Now this is after 3 pm. I then tell the services writer I need to get a rental because I cannot be without a truck that long. Pause..............Well you will need to get here before 5 I say NO PROBLEM i will be there.
I get someone from work to run me down to the dealership and when I see the Services writer he tells me Good News we found a fuel pump and there installing it right now. Another twenty minutes or so and they will be finished. (now I`m f@#$ing pissed off) why didn't he just call me OR was it the fact they didn't want to have to pay for a rental car for 4 days. (pull a pump out of thin air........ BS) I had to turn back around and get both of us back to work.
I get a call about an hour later from the dealership that the truck is ready. My response was pick it up tomorrow.........
I arrive at the dealership to get my truck and porter brings it up for me and I get in the truck and I try very not to be FREAKING UPSET... YOU HAD THE TRUCK FOR ALMOST TWO WEEK why why didn't you do the maintenance check The light is on. I look at the mileage and it didnt look like they took it out for a test drive. Oh but I did and guess what THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. I REALLY WISH I DID NOT BUY THAT TRUCK. its going back i dont want it back with all that engine noise. Its a bad engine plan and simple....................I hate my truck.

I had the worst experience I have ever had in an attempt to purchase a vehicle, I didn't know people like Eloy Espinoza and his side kick who's name I didn't even get even existed. Those 2 are by far the shadiest sales people you could ever deal with. Very Very disappointed. I would never go back there

Had a bad service experience. Didnt feel like they were really listening to me as a customer. Made appointment the 1st i went in for a bearing issue at 7 am and vehicle didnt even get pulled into the service area for more than 6 hours only to be told nothing wrong so had to go video tape the issue and schedule another appointment. Service advisor acted like i was dumb or crazy so had to get the service manager to listen amd watch to the video in the car so you could here the noise. Service advisor didnt even try come and listen and watch the video in the car where you could clearly here the noise and could have done the same thing but didnt. The sevice manager immediatly heard the problem and ordered the work. So drove after repairs and still felt slight vibration so scheduled a tire rotation and rebalance. Went in and another shop guy rode with and even said he felt vibration but they didnt do the tire balance and rotation i requested and told me nothing was wrong. Apparently the customer that drives 66 miles a day every day doesnt know when his car has a vibration!!!! I kept my composure the whole time and didnt get all ballistic but still felt was treated poorly so then i complete the survey i recieved and got a call from the service advisor that continued to tell me nothing was wrong and argued with me about how i felt as a customer. To the point where i had to tell the guy he was pissing me off and end the conversation. Apparently the customer is always wrong at that location. And how i felt about about my service experience was all wrong too.. Just like when i was telling them the car has a bearing problem and was told it didnt until i proved it to them. Maybe you have to buy a 50,0000 dollar car to get treated well but all i can day is less stellar for sure! It is all good traded the vehicle in and got a diff vehicle so worked out.

Went in looking at trucks and we happened to meet Daniel. Originally had plans for a Tundra and we left with a Tacoma that night - best choice ever. Daniel was patient and worked great with us as we had trouble weighing our options. The things I love the most: he listened to us, worked with us, gave us options and never pressured in any way. We have recently been in for our 5000 mile service and he spoke with us in the lobby and made sure we were given the best care even though that wasn't his department. Go see him today!!!

I really appreciate the service at Universal Toyota. I worked with Luis and Ernest who were extremely helpful in getting this process done as quickly as possible. They were honest in communication and worked with my dad and I (who are from out of state) to lease a car. The customer service was amazing!

Christian was very helpful when we came to purchase a vehicle. He gave us no pressure, and was very upfront with us as we were upfront with him on our budget. He wanted to make sure we left with a car and we did! 2015 KIA sportage.

He took a lot of time with us and room great care. I would highly recommend Christian and we will be back in the future.

Best car dealership in San Antonio! Highly recommend Jerry or Luis. The hospitality at Universal Toyota is amazing! Never thought I would walk out with a brand new car, but because of them I am a proud owner of a Toyota Corolla SI with affordable monthly payments. Highly recommend this location!

my wife and I went to look at a used vehicle that we were told was still available for sale. When we arrived we were told that vehicle had been sold but of course they had other cars to look at. The car they wanted us to see was actually locked up and we could only see the car through a mail slot. They still tried to bully us into purchasing a vehicle and kept holding onto my keys for my trade and made us wait around for over 2 hours. They finally gave me back my keys and then were very rude about us not purchasing a vehicle from them.

We bought a car online, from another state. No problems negotiating a deal by text/calls with our salesman, Paul, on an exact vehicle we wanted, which they had in stock. Paul was helpful throughout. However, even though we paid cash up front (a month before we took delivery), dealing with the paperwork through the finance office was terrible. Specifically, we were assigned to a guy named Anthony, who was very hard to get ahold of initially, and when we did talk to him, he was rude, dismissive and insistent. After completing the sale paperwork, which the dealership made far more complicated than necessary, we needed to visit with the finance office, and calls/emails to Anthony (and an attempt to reach out to someone else in that office) went entirely unanswered. The only way we could reach the finance office was to enlist (salesman) Paul to visit with them personally. It took them months to get plates and do the titling paperwork (again, unnecessarily complicated - they could have just signed over the title and mailed it to us, and we'd have done the transfer/licensing in our home state). I would not recommend this dealership. They're a huge operation, and except for our salesman, the customer is a speck in their Universe.

they wanted to steal you tell you things that your vehicle does not need are very false they just want the money I brought my tundra for a check and they told me that I needed a new transmission and the cost was $ 6000 + and I went for another 2nd opinion and the error was and censor and only pay $ 412 and a year ago they told me I needed a water pump and it was a lie my truck is in good condition

I went in with my husband yesterday looking for a new car. First of all, the salesperson couldn't explain all the numbers and I still don't understand why you would charge taxes, license fees, and other fees twice (which clearly you couldn't explain), AND you really knew that you screwed up when I got up and left and bought my new car today @ Cavender's Toyota. They sure didn't charge me taxes twice and they knew and let me know exactly what all the numbers were for, and without any hidden costs, I got a new car from them. If you're going to rip someone off, then use another tactic rather than squeezing in random numbers here and there that you can't even explain.

Yesterday, I bought my very first brand new car from Ruel. He was very nice, professional and didn't pressure me into buying something I didn't want. My experience at Toyota was by far the best experience I have had when it comes to dealerships! Definetly will recommend all of my friends to Universal!

Brian at Universal Toyota provided an exceptional buying experience. He worked diligently to get me into exactly the car I wanted. My wife an I are very pleased with the 2014 Avalon Hybrid Limited Brian helped us get into. It has everything we wanted and then some. It is a wonderful driving car. Smooth and quiet loaded with advanced features with an exceptional 40 MPG. The safety features are numerous giving us peace of mind. Thank You Universal Toyota!

Daniel Ortega was exceptional in providing me a good deal with my 2019 Toyota Highlander. I highly recommend coming to Universal Toyata and coming to Daniel to purchase your new or used vehicle; he went above and beyond to help me out. I will definitely recommend Daniel to my friends and family! Thanks Daniel for your hard work :)

I recently stopped in for an oil change only because of an ecoupon. A reservation was made and the auto was promptly taken in. Of coarse, taking in the vehicle included the usual sales pitch for extra services.
As part of their oil service you receive a fluid level check, air filters check and brake inspection. All of these services were provided, partially. When I arrived at home, two of my hubcaps were only partially in place. This led me to inspect the rest of the work. I popped the hood and found grease under the hood around the latch, fluids were not topped off, two latches for the air filter were not locked down. The next day I wanted to replace the cabin filter, only to find the filter compartment dismantled with the pieces laying in the glove box. If you choose to use universal toyota for service, I highly recommend inspecting the work before you leave. Furthermore if they are so careless about an oil change, can you really trust them with major work, ie brakes, tuneup etc.

After hopping around different dealers, I decided to end our voyage, after finding nothing, at this particular location. The energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement to purchase a personal vehicle from our sales person was absolutely wonderful and optimistic that I had to keep in touch with him for future purposes. I can't put into words how personal and comfortable our experience was shopping for a car; such that I had to return to get a second vehicle at exactly this location, again. The warmth and kindness that we were greeted with allow my mother and I feel like we were at our personal lair looking for a car at the comfort of our choice. I look forward to refer many to this particular location, and to our personal sales consultant, Alejandro Cordova. I wouldn't have it any other way!

This is our third time buying a vehicle from Universal Toyota Used Cars. Our salesman Brandon Bond and the sales manager Tino Ruiz were very helpful. We test drove about six different trucks until we found one that we really liked. Brandon was very patient and helpful in every way, constantly offering to go to the new store and buy our three daughters drinks.

Anthony is an Outstanding Agent.

Anthony is an Outstanding Agent.

I was on a really delicate situation in wich I was about to lost everything I had no credit at all. I went to a lot of dealers and I was never approved, I had a really bad experience on Ancira Motor on Bandera, but I was gon stick with that car paying 15,000 dollars for a car with a lot of visible damages, bad smell inside well it was a mess. Anthony and all the Team from Universal toyota really change my life. If you are looking for good cars, excellent price, but more than that, someone who undersrand your situation and make the imposible become posible ask for Anthony Rosario on Unviersal Toyota Used Cars. I have to start charging for my promotions lol but people this is true they are just an excellent company and should be your first option when its about to buy a new or used car.

For many years, we have purchased all our vehicles (and my parent's as well) and have taken our vehicles to get them serviced. I have LOST many hours of my time wasted because their wi-fi NEVER, NEVER works. Every time, they always say, "we'll tell someone" and when I return, with hopes to getting work done during my two-hour wait, it never works. So, I sit, and sit. Last time, they finally said, "it doesn't work on laptops, just on phones." It didn't work on my phone either!!! I can no longer go to Universal Toyota because of their wi-fi..this is the dealbreaker! We are going to go elsewhere...for both service and purchase...and it will NOT be affiliated with Red McCombs either!

Girlfriend and I went in to look at a new Corolla,...

Girlfriend and I went in to look at a new Corolla, wasn't sure if we were going to buy just yet. But wanted to test drive one. Salesman was nice, and eager to sell. But, being our first stop on car buying we weren't 100% commented. So once the salesman came back with the numbers, we realized that the numbers were to far off. So, the salesman offered a difference choice, and said try a used car and maybe we can get were we have to be, number wise. So we agreed, and waited for him to return from telling his manager what the plan was. Well, a few minutes later the manger got my girlfriend and started to talk to her about numbers, so I heard them and walked over and he was trying to ask us why were going to look at a used car. And told him that the numbers were to far off, to were I feel confident, that we will get were we have to be in a used rather than new. And the manger started to be very pushy, and asking why. How much money can you put down, then he started to try to school me on the way negotiations work. And I told him, this isn't my first car I ever bought. I have bought many cars from different dealers. Again he asked me, how much money can you put down. Because he was telling me that, he couldn't give me a car for the same price that I owe on my trade in. That you will have negative equity, and I said I understand, that's why we wanted to look at used, just made sense for us. He was getting frustrated. I was so upset because he was acting like, I was so stupid that I didn't understand how dealership work. I was so worked up that I got up and left, they are not the only dealer in town. Never have I been treated like this. The sale was more important than making the customer feel comfortable, these are important decisions you make in life. I don't go to a dealership, for someone to tell me what I need
