Ecstatic for my next appointment with Ellie! She magically transforms me each visit with a fresh cut and color treatment. Visiting Tru is an escape and treat in the middle of a crazy week!

Ashton at Tru is the best hair stylist around and she kills it every time!! Absolutely love her to death and she is the sweetest. I couldn t imagine having any other stylist <3

Absolutely loved my haircut by Megan!! She was so knowledgeable about what I wanted and her technique is on point! Went in for a brand new look, and she
delivered above and beyond. The staff really takes the time to show you great tips and tricks on your personal hair style. Can't wait to go back and hope they bring hair extensions to the salon!!!

I initially chose Tru Salon for hair/makeup for myself and my wedding party because when I called and said that we needed to start at 7am, they didn't immediately tell me that no salon would start that early and good luck with my search. I was so fortunate that they were so friendly and helpful from the beginning AND did such high-quality work!

I am so happy with how my hair and makeup turned out for my wedding! The staff was so nice and the breakfast they provided was awesome. I hadn't slept more than 3 hours the night before and one girl went to the coffee shop next door to get me a latte while I got my makeup done. It was JUST what I needed. We were on a tight timeline and they did everything they could to accommodate.

I would highly recommend Tru Salon for wedding parties!

I started going to tru salon back in November and they are AMAZING!! Ashton did wonders on my hair and gave me the bangs of my dreams. PLUS, I DRIVE AN HOUR AND A HALF TO GET TO HER! Highly recommend!:)

And she is a stylist that you can just say do what you think looks best . And she does it!! All my experiences with her have been amazing!!

After living in the area for many years and experiencing several awful salon experiences I am happy to say that I have found my salon!! Holly is amazing!!! Not only did she give me the exact cut and color I have been dying for but she also took the time to show me how to style my new do as well. The staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly!!! I cannot wait for my next appointment!!

LOVE my gal, Ellie, but at these outrageous prices I just can't justify returning. I have short hair, no damage. Came in today for cut, root touchup, and highlights. $351 plus tip! Omg! Walked out having spent over $500...crazy! Nearly had an anxiety attack on my way home.

This is my favorite salon in the area! Ashton has done my hair and lash extensions. My lashes never looked so good, and my hair is always fabulous. She is phenomenal with color. I can t say enough good things about her and her services. Plus she s super sweet :)

Fantastic salon! Megan Betts is a 5-star stylist. She does fantastic work with both cut and color. My current cut is by far the best short/bob style cut I have had in the last 5 years. The colors I have had from her have been totally on point and I get tons of compliments. Megan really listens to what ideas I have about my hair and then she talks with me about what will really be the most flattering and realistic with my hair/skin. I have never not loved a color she has done. The front desk gals are also awesome, they get right back to me if I email a question or pass my message right along to Megan. Top notch salon for sure!

**Addition to review - Kylie Marshall gave my 7 year old a kids haircut. It was probably the best cut he's ever had (so cute). He really loved that she asked him questions about how he wanted his hair cut and he got the whole "adult" haircut, including a trip to the shampoo bowl. She was great with him and I'm pretty sure he has found his new favorite stylist!

Tru Salon is an incredible place where you step out of the everyday into a place focused on making you feel seen, valued, and beautiful. I ve been with Megan Betts since her beginning and cannot say enough of her talent, heart, and passion to make your dreams become reality! But not at the cost of your hair. She is always open and honest about what will work for your face shape and what won t, or what it will take to get you to your dream hair color.
I have curly hair and have so many horror stories of hairdressers who simply don t know how to cut it. But I never have to worry about what Megan is going to do. She s trustworthy, hilarious and kind. I look forward to every appointment!

This is my absolute favorite hair salon, not just in Iowa but in all the states I've lived. The women who work here are incredibly skilled and kind and the salon itself is relaxing (doesn't smell strongly of hair chemicals). I always look forward to my appointments here and I highly recommend it!

Ashton is phenomenal. Takes the time to really understand what you want and has great skill and attention to detail! Highly recommend! I have very thick hair that requires a certain amount of time and patience.

I've never had my hair done here before, but I've photographed here for a wedding and I must say that the staff is wonderful. They really care about their clients and want to do the best job. They work quickly and happily and the finished work is stunning. The music is top notch too!

Loren is amazing!! He listens to your concerns and instructs you on how you can make subtle changes in your hair routine which help you look fabulous! I feel great every time I leave this salon!! I absolutely recommend this salon to everyone!!

I have been to Ashton at Tru Salon several times, and I am obsessed with her and her work! She is the most relatable, honest, and down to earth person. The salon provides the most relaxing environment, but professional. Her blending skills are phenomenal to the point that she is the only person I let color my hair and I live in Tennessee!

I usually do not write reviews; however, my experience being a client of Tru has truly been a blessing in my life that extends beyond the AMAZING and beautiful hair cuts and styles I receive! Holly has been such a blessing in helping me have the courage and confidence to see myself as beautiful and take the daring step of going for the Pixie cut!! Tru offers a complementary 10 minute clean up for those of us with very short hair to help clean up the neck hair and help maintain the short cut until your next schedule hair cut. I was unable to schedule this with Holly and scheduled with Alex for an evening time after work. I had a very stressful work day and was tearful and tired on my commute home. I went directly to the salon from work and the gals, Alex and Amber lifted my spirits without even knowing I was having a tough day! Amber made me a cup of Chai tea, putting it in a to-go cup. Alex was the stylist who did my 10 minute clean up and didn't make me feel rushed. I left Tru after being there about 20 minutes feeling cared for, calm and had my Chai tea to drink on my way home. The gals at Tru made my day!! I always walk out of the salon feeling more balanced, calm, confident and joyful. I'm very grateful!!! Thanks for all you do Tru!!!

I had the most positive experience at Tru the other night. They always welcome me, gave me a glass of wine, and treated me like family. They value their customers. Kayla is amazing. . . provides me professional advise in a language I can understand and encourages me along the way. Shelia the receptionist is wonderful as well, friendly, fast, and provides the level of customer service that exceeds my expectations. I highly recommend this salon!! They won't throw in a stylist until they are good and ready to take on new clients. It's a family business with family values. Amazing!

Finally found a salon that I absolutely love. I made an appointment with Ashton and she was amazing. The sweetest girl and insanely talented at doing hair. I have never loved my hair more and would highly recommend booking an appointment.

Everything about Tru Salon is amazing. The salon is clean, organized, and all of the staff are incredibly friendly. I have been seeing Ashton for years and have always had a great experience. I have been going to Tru Salon for just 2.5 years now. The staff is always on point, beyond friendly, and want to make sure you have a great experience. Alex is my stylist and I cannot say enough positive things about her. My hair is always beautiful and she always make sure I leave loving my hair.

I buy 99.9% of my hair products from here as well, they are totally worth it. I can never get my hair to look as great as when Alex does it, but I can get pretty dang close because the products are flipping fantastic.

Tru Salon is absolutely wonderful! Everyone who works there is so kind, helpful, and talented. I always feel like my expectations are listened to and met, which is very impressive considering how curly my hair is. My haircuts, color, and styles always look fantastic and I feel so good about my hair when I walk out the door. They eyelash extension service here is also great! They last and keep for a good amount of time, and they are very soft and natural looking. I am so thankful that I found this salon and couldn t be happier with their services and friendly people who work there.

Ellie is the BEST! I have waist length that I ve gotten highlighted since high-school and Ellie has kept it healthy the whole time. She s always honest about what my hair needs. I recommend her to everyone!

Everyone was super nice and friendly, but my hair did not turn out. It took me a year to grow it out and in the span of fifteen minutes a trim turned into what feels and looks like five inches. I'm at home right now trying not to cry or angry puke. That alone ruined my experience. It is not okay to not listen to your client's wishes. I'm open to anything about my hair except for the length. Otherwise the color and the atmosphere were fine.

I moved to this area last year and have been looking for a hair stylist. I was reading the positive reviews of Tru Salon and it was close to my home. My stylist, Ellie, was fantastic! She was extremely professional and listened carefully as I explained what I wanted. She did an awesome job and the first coworker I saw this morning told me my hair looked great. I highly recommend Ellie at Tru!

The best of the best!! If you re picky, like myself, Ashton never disappoints. :-) She s been cutting and coloring my hair for the past 4 years. I never walk away unhappy! 100% worth every penny.

Visiting Tru Salon has radically changed my day-to-day experience with my hair.

At Loren's advice, I began shampooing less frequently. After few weeks of getting adjusted, everything changed. My hair is stronger. I spend less money on shampoo. I PREFER "dirty" hair because it holds style better.

And that's just small part of a bigger change. Loren and Holly and the staff at Tru really try to educate me about caring for my hair. If I can't make it look like I want it to, they teach me how to do it.

I pay more for a haircut, it's true. And I worry about that, to be honest. But the haircuts grow out better and I know how to take care of my hair in between, so when I have to wait longer between cuts, I can.

Believe the reviews; Tru Salon is absolutely amazing, 5 stars. I have been to many different salons in both the Coralville area and in Des Moines and had yet to find a place quite like Tru Salon. Each time I go I have been welcomed warmly and offered a beverage, I automatically feel at ease and comfortable (sometimes going to a stylist gets me a tad anxious). So far, I've only gone to Loren and he is amazing, but from what I've read I would not doubt the other stylists' skills. Loren taught me so much about my hair, things I had never been told before. I've been stuck with this head of hair for 22 years and finally someone explained to me how to wash, style, and care for it properly. If you are worried about the price be reassured that it is worth every penny and you will walk away feeling great, looking great, and knowing that you have learned something. I highly recommend going to Tru Salon.

I had my first experience at this salon with Ellie. She picked a great haircut for me, educated me on the products she used and why so I could learn from her to try to duplicate her beautiful work at home. Haha I will sure try! Great atmosphere, knowledgeable staff and will definitely be going back.

I am so glad I came across Tru during my search for a new hair salon. I have not had a single negative experience there during my two years. Megan is who I have seen from the start and she does phenomenal work and is an amazing person. She takes the time to teach me about my hair and different styling techniques to make me happier with my hair every day, not just when I come from the salon. She even came into the salon early just to style my hair for graduation. I will continue to make the trip to Tru for my hair even though I am moving to Minnesota, because their service is top-notch and I have never been happier with my hair!

Definition of professional - such a great experience. They were able to get me in for a cut and style last minute. Ellie, my stylist, was phenomenal. She listened to exactly what I wanted and made recommendations based on my hair texture. I was given a treatment cut for the price of a regular cut because I was a new client. I can not recommend Tru Salon highly enough.

Great service! Friendly staff with huge hearts and talent

Ellie is fantastic! I went to her ready to stop the fighting with the gray cycle, and she made it happen! I tell my friends she turned my hair from orange/gray/brown/ to the coolest gray by working some of her magic and working with what was naturally happening on my head. I have crazy curls too, and she always brings them back alive every time I go see her! You need to go to Tru Salon and ask for Ellie!
