As CPT of the Shelter House Birthday Parties, I must say this was the most rewarding Volunteer opportunity I could ever imagine. The children were so loveable, excited, anxious, and appreciative. The Parents and Staff exhibited a great understanding of one another and the system designed for the Community. Volunteer Fairfax has a plethora of Volunteer excursions (I chose many) that lend to giving, helping, and receiving positive people. I believe you will be inspired! Professional staff and coordinators.
Crafts: My first joyful experience was creating Valentine's day cards for the children. I took this creative moment and transported it to my colleagues at work and for my family. The joy of creating something unique from construction paper, ribbon, glue and your mind is thrilling for the receiver and giver.
Pantry: Plenty of times to collect and prepare for those who need food, non-perishables, baby wares, holiday goods / treats, etc. The recipients were always so thankful.
Sunrise Assisted Living: Companionship (reading or engaging in conversations) and playing games (even calling numbers for bingo and helping them verify their cards). Rewarding.
