Nightmare experience! Purchased a vehicle at this location in February 2017. We've run into lots of problems created by Tim Dahle Nissan Southtowne from the start.
When we arrived, we were assisted by a young man new to the job. Although it was a nice, no pressure sale, we found that he didn't have much knowledge on the vehicles or the process which made for a really long day with our kids and a lack of information all around. At one point, I was on his office phone, filling out his paperwork talking with our credit union about our trade in loan amount remaining because he left the room with them on hold and asked me to talk to them and fill it out.
They charged us a $1000 maintenance fee and we requested that they check the alignment because we felt like the alignment was out. About a week ago, mid April 2017, we took the car in to the mechanic to get the alignment done because it was so bad. The mechanic said that it was way out of alignment. The paperwork they gave us indicated it was out in 5 places. In addition, the air filter (which only cost $30 to replace with labor) was almost completely black. The mechanic said there was no way they replaced that at our time of purchase. We ended up paying more money for things that should have been covered in the $1000 maintenance fee we paid. It seems like they would've caught a $30 air filter during that maintenance, but they didn't, which makes me think they didn't do anything at all.
In addition to those somewhat minor things, they had a major mess up with our credit and SSNs. Both mine and my husband's credit is very good, in the mid to high 700s. We were told we could get a loan through Cyprus Credit Union for a low rate that we qualified because of our good credit scores. Almost a month after our purchase, our first loan payment was about a week and a half out and we hadn't received any information about where and how to make payment. Shortly after that, we received a letter from Cyprus Credit Union saying that our loan was denied because of, "High probability SSN belongs to another". The note said I could get one free copy of the report. When I called Experian, our information couldn't be found with our names, the make and model or our car and our SSNs. I called the dealership to find out what was going on and their finance person couldn't tell me anything except that our loan was now through America First. When I asked about the letter we received from Cyprus Credit Union, that the loan was denied despite our good credit and the reasoning for denial, all his reply was that the credit agency gave the reason that the "high probability SSN belongs to another". My first thought was that our SSNs have been used by someone else, but both my husband and I got the same letter, one for each of us. We've come to the thinking that they mixed our name up with another couples' SSN numbers even though our names and SSNs were on the same paper and we wrote them down ourselves. So although I don't think, or at least I hope it didn't affect our credit, I'm sure it messed someone else's credit. I still have to get to the bottom of this one. I feel like they knew what their mistake was, but they were trying to cover it up when I called.
Our overall experience was VERY upsetting! Now I'm getting letters from America First Credit Union saying that we didn't send them our declaration of insurance like we agreed to at signing. Which we never authorized the loan through America First, but through Cyprus. I won't ever be shopping there again and encourage you to stay away. If we had that many problems, you're bound to have at least one!
