Really perfect way to spend an afternoon. It's just a bit crowded, so you need to get here an hour early
One of my favorite outdoor concert venues in the city (hm, may even be the favorite!). When the place is shrouded in fog, it's simply magical! One could definitely forget that one is still in the city and not in the middle of a forest far, far away! (though it could get a bit cold- bundling up is always a good idea!).
It has the BEST restroom ever! Is a wonderful place for small concerts, a lot of flowers and trees.
A beautiful place to see a show among the eucalyptus. Free concerts every summer with great local and national acts.
Beautiful place to hold a wedding. Nice cabin for the reception as well.
Awesome park, and free concerts in the summer! Great place to go for a walk, or if you need a quick getaway in the afternoon from the busy city.
Attended Stern Grove festivals for three years in a row. Really enjoyed the events. Come early to secure good views of the stage.
Beautiful. Went to one of the most beautiful weddings there I've ever attended.
A beautiful place to have a picnic, see a concert, or just get back in touch with nature. Be warned though that there is a very steep incline at the entrance. Walking out of the park will leave your glutes on FIRE.
You can't beat free, great summer Sunday concerts, get there early for good spot. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day. Stern Grove also is the site of the largest off leash dog park in the City.
Saw Eric Burdon and The Animals concert

Such a beautiful hidden gem! With Stern Grove music festival going for more than 80yrs and other great hikes... Just simply a pleasure!
Even though its gotten super crowded over the years but its still an awesome place to have a Sunday afternoon picnic while listening to great music in the trees with sun shining through. If you qant to gwt into the actual grove yoi have to get there early. Also a beautiful spot for weddings.
The Staern Grove Festival is the best way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon in San Francisco.
Seen Ziggy Marley there was such an experience that I'll never forget. Beautiful landscape.
Lovely venue for the annual ballet at the park, or for any outdoor activity.
It s a great free/donation event in SF, and the venue is nice, but quite small compared with the massive park lawn events in Central Park or Prospect Park. The place is pretty full two hours before kickoff. People will then continue to stream in and squeeze themselves into every bit of open space, and proceed to munch on their Cheez-Its as the music starts. Some people are in chairs higher than they should be at an outdoor concert. So it s great if you show up early and can tolerate the more uncouth elements of SF society. They check bags but I m not sure what for, there didn t seem to be any limit on food or drink. They also have security walking around. There are bathrooms on either side of the venue, Porto potties on at least one side. There was a long, 20-minute intermission during a classical music show by the SF Philharmonic. The amphitheater setting leads to good acoustics, loud enough but not overwhelming.
Enjoyed the Isley Brothers concert at the park. Perfect weather too.
A beautiful setting with large redwood and eucalyptus trees. Tranquil and serene...
Stern Grove is a true treasure. They've been hosting free concerts from big-name groups for over 80 years
Come at least two hours early for festival shows. And don't just spread your blankets around and then leave to come back later, like a jerk.
The best park place around, with live performances, plus a dog park.. love love this park...
This place is a gem! Especially to check out the ballet (Stern Grove Festival)
Last of the good free summer music festivals. Beautiful location. Get there early because they will close the meadow and cut off admission before it gets too crowded.
Great Time.
Excellent performance bands.
Beautiful setting, free concerts in the summer months and natural air conditioning (it's always cool and foggy in summer) make it one of my favorite parks.
Ambience is amazing! The walk down into the park is magical.
Lovely for a picnic with or without a concert playing
If you want to escape the urban jungle and enter an oasis for a bit, this is the perfect place to go for a walk through. Beautiful trees, birds chirping, and fresh air.
Plus, free concerts in the summer.
Even during Covid this park has been the nice balance of nature and place to picnic while keeping it safe
Heard some great opera there. Nice greenery surrounding, and surprisingly good sound quality for the concerts. There's some decline and incline so wear shoes accordingly.
My daughter had her wedding here, it was a perfect venue for her. Beautiful environment, the club house was awesome.
Awesome park , a break from the city bustle. Haven't been there for over 30yrs Great S.F go to.
This festival was OUTTA THIS WORLD! I had an amazing time seeing Ziggy Marley perform here this week! The views, people, energy, atmosphere, love, freeness, and ONEness is indescribable! I will NEVER FORGET this trip!
Always free, get there early unless you don't mind trees.
Easily accessible both by foot, public transit, and car, this Park is one of the most popular places for dog walkers as well as music lovers (there is an annual music festival being held here).
There are also playgrounds and tennis courts, should you feel the whim. But in my opinion, the best way to experience this open nature, is to take a stroll, alone or with company, as the path is straightforward and easy to follow. (even when they appear not, they usually lead to a common exit in the end, with a few exceptions)
I would, however, recommend being a little careful when walking near the entrance on Sloat and 19th Avenue, as my roommates have been hit by fallen branches and tree bark (there were actually heavy and sturdy) occasionally.
The Julieta Venegas concert was lots of fun. Nice park setting and a free concert (choice of making donations only). Highly recommended!!!
The best time ever, great crowd, great music, definitely returning next season
Very beautiful park full of eucalyptus and poppies in bloom. Host to some fun summer music too!
So peaceful and serene a great place to go when in the city
Beautiful park with weekly concerts. Lots of space to relax in the sun or picknick. The bathrooms are really clean!
I have attended concerts for the past three years and I absolutely love the vibe. Keep the arts alive!
Great place to go for a stroll, walk your dog, or enjoy a free concert in the Summer. A nice little lake on one side and a nice large outdoor venue on the other. A great open space for any activity in the middle. I used to go to summer camp at Pine Lake as a kid and have fond memories.
Sundays in Stern Grove are about the best way to enjoy music, a family picnic, and time with friends.
My daughter got married here, enchanted forest in the middle of the city
Stern Grove on Sundays during the summer is amazing!
Lovely neighborhood park. Great for family and pets. Great for jogging. Love the fog in the morning.
Fabulous musical and cultural experience.
Loves social justice n great venue for.music.
Incredible venue, such good vibes!! Went to see Mitski and it was a classic, cool, foggy San Francisco afternoon.
Went around 1 pm and still was able to snag a nice picnic spot. BYOB
Its actually Just "The Stern Grove" and not the Stern Grove Festival.
The festival happens every year in the last week of July.
Such a cool and different place to be.
Smell the nature, feel the air and the weather that all those threes make.
I love it.
This is my first google review. Would it kill you guys to get some bike racks?? Did not see a single one.
I love Stern Grove. The concerts are so good and you can't beat free. The bathrooms are close enough and clean.
Awesome free concerts in the summer - get there by noon for a place to sit. Great dog park nearby.
SF has so many great parks, and this is one of the best. Get lost in the trees.
