One of my favorite outdoor concert venues in the city (hm, may even be the favorite!). When the place is shrouded in fog, it's simply magical! One could definitely forget that one is still in the city and not in the middle of a forest far, far away! (though it could get a bit cold- bundling up is always a good idea!).

A beautiful place to have a picnic, see a concert, or just get back in touch with nature. Be warned though that there is a very steep incline at the entrance. Walking out of the park will leave your glutes on FIRE.

You can't beat free, great summer Sunday concerts, get there early for good spot. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day. Stern Grove also is the site of the largest off leash dog park in the City.

Even though its gotten super crowded over the years but its still an awesome place to have a Sunday afternoon picnic while listening to great music in the trees with sun shining through. If you qant to gwt into the actual grove yoi have to get there early. Also a beautiful spot for weddings.

It s a great free/donation event in SF, and the venue is nice, but quite small compared with the massive park lawn events in Central Park or Prospect Park. The place is pretty full two hours before kickoff. People will then continue to stream in and squeeze themselves into every bit of open space, and proceed to munch on their Cheez-Its as the music starts. Some people are in chairs higher than they should be at an outdoor concert. So it s great if you show up early and can tolerate the more uncouth elements of SF society. They check bags but I m not sure what for, there didn t seem to be any limit on food or drink. They also have security walking around. There are bathrooms on either side of the venue, Porto potties on at least one side. There was a long, 20-minute intermission during a classical music show by the SF Philharmonic. The amphitheater setting leads to good acoustics, loud enough but not overwhelming.

Great Time.

If you want to escape the urban jungle and enter an oasis for a bit, this is the perfect place to go for a walk through. Beautiful trees, birds chirping, and fresh air.

Plus, free concerts in the summer.

This festival was OUTTA THIS WORLD! I had an amazing time seeing Ziggy Marley perform here this week! The views, people, energy, atmosphere, love, freeness, and ONEness is indescribable! I will NEVER FORGET this trip!

Easily accessible both by foot, public transit, and car, this Park is one of the most popular places for dog walkers as well as music lovers (there is an annual music festival being held here).

There are also playgrounds and tennis courts, should you feel the whim. But in my opinion, the best way to experience this open nature, is to take a stroll, alone or with company, as the path is straightforward and easy to follow. (even when they appear not, they usually lead to a common exit in the end, with a few exceptions)

I would, however, recommend being a little careful when walking near the entrance on Sloat and 19th Avenue, as my roommates have been hit by fallen branches and tree bark (there were actually heavy and sturdy) occasionally.

Great place to go for a stroll, walk your dog, or enjoy a free concert in the Summer. A nice little lake on one side and a nice large outdoor venue on the other. A great open space for any activity in the middle. I used to go to summer camp at Pine Lake as a kid and have fond memories.
