The all window walls allow for beautiful views. The price is pretty good for how nice the rooms are. Le Bain is a cool bar, the local foods are delicious if a little expensive.

Drinks were yummy. Super sweet though. The vibe was cool. But a little dark and hard to see anything. It was overall a really cute place and a super cool rooftop. I still would go back for sure. :)
Great hotel, very hip and has a really nice restaurants/bier garden. The place overall is a bit pricey, but service was good. Rooms are pretty small, but they have everything you need in them.
All of their outdoor space is still useable in the winter because of ceiling heaters, which was pretty awesome.
The only complaint was that they were down to just 1 elevator for a few hours (2 were blocked off for an event, 1 was under maintenance) when we were there. It caused a huge back-up getting to rooms until they opened the others up again.
Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel.
Great location - getting extremely busy with many tourists coming by, but it's hard not to fall in loce with the view and atmosphere
The restaurant's crew is beautiful and wonderful, great attention, incredible view of the river to NJ, the interior design is beautiful too, even the restrooms view!!!
Fantastic hotel! High quality room with very good room service. Got a deluxe king on the 17th floor and had a fantastic view of Manhattan, the Hudson, and New Jersey.
So hip and a very hot NYC vibe. Incredible location, great views.
If you know what a good cocktail tastes like, then you'll know right away that these aren't it... which will leave you feeling all the more embarrassed about those jumping jacks you did to get the attention of the waitstaff. Hip atmosphere/decor and a fun little skating rink round this score up to 3 stars.
Great views, nice rooms, high priced and sometimes crowded. Excellent neighborhood for restaurants.
Fun, simple hotel. Very chic, very cheeky, very sexy,
Excellent hotel The views from different points of the hotel are incredible, such as the gym.
The restaurants are very good and the one I recommend making reservations is the one on the 18th floor (usually the reservation is made directly at the place or at the hotel reception).
The gym offers free laundry service.
Great location, with terrific views (esp Hudson facing)
Room service good.
Rooms themselves starting to look and feel tired.
Very beautiful. Nice sceneries and puts you right in the middle of action
Visited a friend staying at the hotel. Quirky design. Decent rooms. Clubs unnecessarily exclusive
If you don't like the experience of staying here, go see a shrink.
Can t sleep at night. Rooftop nightclub simply makes it impossible. Asked to move rooms 3 times and threatened to leave the hotel before they did anything about it.
Nice, cheek, funky hotel. Need better signs or directions for guest driving own vehicle for check in parking.
Went to the biergarten at the hotel for Oktoberfest! Every beer was very tasty, though they ultimately did taste pretty similar. Fun place to go for drinks and ping pong!
EDIT: since I posted the review below during my stay and got in touch with the management, we were moved to a nicer, corner room. The reception manager in charge did a nice job, was understanding and very respectful. The room was superb and felt very luxurious. Amazing views and very large for a room in NYC. And very quiet. This was clearly more aligned with the experience we were hoping for. I must say that half the staff doesn't seem properly trained though (we also had a weird experience at the restaurant, where the hostess lied to us to give us a crappy table; which we declined, we said we'd wait. She then acted very surprised "oh wait there may be one available", and a waiter responded "actually we have 3 tables available"...) so I would be hesitant to spend a lot of money there. The design, views and location are unique and if you book early you will have a good rate. If you book late, you may pay a lot for a headache with inhospitable staff. It's basically a bet.
Original post:
Sure, rooms are nicely decorated. But I will never stay here again. Terrible experience with the reception. We were given a room on the 15th floor. The club a few floors up is extremely loud. I went to the reception on the Sunday night of my arrival at 10pm to say I was bothered with the music and I was told the music would stop at 12am. I was even told to put a towel at the bottom on the door to block the noise (!!!). Since our understanding was that it would only last for a couple hours at most, we decided to keep our room and asked for an extra pair of earplugs to be brought to your room since there was only one in the room (are they expecting a couple in a double room to wear one earplug each? Mystery ...). Well, the club's music lasted until past 3:30am and we haven't slept until 4am. We have important meetings in town this week and this is my husband's birthday, so I was really hoping to have a great, glamorous stay. This is not the case, but instead the worst hotel experience we have had in years. This morning I went to the reception and asked to be moved to a quiet - and if possible nicer room for the 2 upcoming nights of our stay - to make it up to us since we were clearly misled by the reception last night. I said the experience of not sleeping on a Sunday night had made our stay so far stressful and unpleasant. Response: "what else in your stay has been stressful?". Seriously? Like, not sleeping and being misled when I could clearly have been moved last night when I first asked about the noise? I knew the hotel had many unoccupied rooms at this time of year. But then today the receptionist proceeded to do something he must have thought was classy and that I found plain insulting: he said he would waive from our bill the two drinks we had the night before at the bar "as a courtesy". He did not offer to move us, saying that the club would be closed on Mon-Tue so we would be "fine". Huh... well that's not what is going to improve my memory of this stay or make my overall impression better. If I was expecting a financial compensation, I would have asked for the night to be reimbursed, not two drinks on our bill. And now I wish I had 5 cocktails and not one, maybe I would have been able to sleep! I was so frustrated, the guy was clearly inexperienced in handling customers, he just panicked and wasn't even smiling, empathizing or accommodating at all. He had the tone of someone investigating my claim, like "can you describe the conversation you had with my colleague yesterday". What?? I was so, so pissed. And then I went to have breakfast. Well, you should skip that part too - unless you want to be served toasted bread that is not actually toasted and spread with melted garlic butter (what?) at 8am before heading to work. Have a good day.
The best hotel I ever booked. The views are amazing with clean ceiling to floor windows. The bed and bath is position perfectly so upon sleeping and waking you have a clear view of the city. You can have a relaxing bath and still enjoy the view. The elevator also has this cool TV showcase thing as seen in the pics below. Of course the mini is expensive but they are decent dining options in the area. The pricing was definitely up there but that's because it was December. The staff and accommodations are also great.
Biergarten, restaurant and cozy place... You choose... Ther Biergarten is awsome place near the musuem but does not have a good options for craft beers just 5 options. The crowd is the best for the place
Great view, cool bar, gets a bit too crowded during major events but all in all a must see.
Very nice hotel. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but they're stylish and full of modern technology.
Fun hotel with an absolutely amazing location within Manhattan. Ages 20-65 will enjoy
At one of the best locations in Manhattan. Perfectly designed rooms, friendly staff, great penthouse bar. #hipster hotel. In room dinning is ok, but not great.
They have everything. Great beer bar, restaurant, night club and bistro bar. Check out their app also.
The standard was awesome. Delicious food, great service, and the beer garden was awesome.
Beautiful people but terrible service. Their front of house was worse than any hotel I've ever been to. Employees are in street clothes, no name tags and pretentious attitudes. No bell stand. No valet stand. Cool bro. Way to keep things hip. So progressive. Oh and the rooms are tiny.
The bier garden is their only saving grace. It's packed with a younger crowd during happy hour. The rooftop has spectacular views. Access to nearby restaurants and the Chelsea Market was nice.
Stay here to party and you'll be OK.
Extra fancy modern hotel. Often puts looks over general or sensible function. All rooms smell like smoke even if it's not smoking...
Pleasant walk, with beautiful views of the streets and buildings
Hip hotel in a trendy area. Be careful if you want a quiet place. It is a popular party place.
Interesting place. Very hip for the younger generation. A bit much for the older folks. In an accessible room with my 93 year old mother. Yes, there are grab bars in the shower and around the toilet. But you couldn't sit on the seat in the shower and get soap off of you, needs a handheld wand. Reading lights at the bed were not bright enough for her. Great location, but you pay for it!
After visiting Chelsea market you should go to the roof top and enjoy the view with a nice cocktail.
Amazing hotel. Great views of the city and very centrally located. Perfect location for business trips.
Rooms are starting to look a little dated but overall still a cool hotel in a great location.
Good location, great view (even from the shower), nice rooms.
Make sure you are a good distance from the night club floors if you value your sleep. Bit too hip/pretentious for my liking but it's a decent hotel in a great area.
Great location and views but old rooms that could be upgraded
Nice hotel, lounge open till 4am! 2 night clubs on the roof. Walking distance to a lot. Food is pretty good, anchovies and mozzarella surprisingly delicious. Thick glass windows block the noise from outside. Full mini bar
Good room amenities, located near many restaurants and nightlife
I'd say the major benefits of The Standard NYC are the rooms and location. Other than that, there's really nothing too fantastic about it. It feels so hipster it was sometimes painful. I think I'll try another hotel next time I'm in town.
This hotel is great. It's super weird - the elevator is playing a strange video 24/7, and lots of the design choices in the rooms make you go "oooooh that's different!" - but all these weird moments are fun and positive. And the room itself is very comfortable!
Outstanding and modern hotel with great views, and fun rooftop bar.
Attended a gala for the +pool. The appetizers from the kitchen were really tasty and the venue spacious and well layed out.
This was a nice hotel with unique rooms and styles. Some of that style was too fringe for me.
Great place and awesome views from the bar upstairs! Go there on a sunny day and you won't regret it!
I chose to stay at this hotel as I was to be in meetings at the Google HQ located within walking distance. Staying at this hotel was a huge mistake. They had only 1 working elevator when I arrived which meant we had to line up to access our rooms for about 10 minutes and because they have a club on their premises they will play obnoxiousy loud music until 4am, even on Sunday. When I finally called the manager around 1am about the noise and asked to be moved, he told me that their website clearly states they have a club and I could not be moved - I didn't realize that I booked a room at a club and please take caution about this and their attitude about it. After I complained about this he offered me a $50 food voucher and told me their club is closed on Monday and Tuesda, so although I'll only get 2 hours of sleep tonight, maybe I can catch up on it tomorrow. If you are traveling for business, avoid this place like the plague and I'd recommend the Maritime Hotel where I've stayed previously and is located close by, with superior service, great rooms, courteous and quiet.
Nice hotel, trendy neighborhood. A bit overpriced though -- rooms are small.
As a long-time guest, I want to love The Standard, but unfortunately it seems that service and facilities have declined. While each of these moments were minor individually, collectively I felt that the experience was subpar from what I had come to expect over the years.
When I arrived at the hotel, a gentleman did offer to help with my luggage but then after I checked in, he was nowhere to be found, so I ended up schlepping my own lugagge to my room. No big deal, but why even offer to assist if you're just going to dump my luggage in a cart in the hallway and leave?
My room was suitable, but the door handle was a bit loose and the drain in the shower was exceptionally slow. Overall these rooms could definitely do with some maintenance / upgrades.
The service elevator seemed to be out of commission, so the remaining elevators were constantly crowded with carts of food and luggage. It's not a pleasant experience to ride up 11 floors in crowded hot elevator with French fries.
The staff also seems completely uninterested in helping to flag down taxis. They were obviously too busy talking amongst themselves to be bothered with assisting guests.
Sadly, it may finally be time to find an alternative, where service and quality is a bit more of a priority.
Trendy bar in one of the most happening parts of town serving a wide range of tasty drinks and food by fun, lively, knowledgeable staff. Great spot.
We had room 1303, City view. Not much view. I'd suggest going to a higher floor, although friends on the higher floor said the nightclub kept him up a little late. It's a hip and groovy place. Elevators were a wild scene. Friendly staff
Strategic location, comfy bed, average hospitality.
Amazing vibe and crowds.. I really enjoyed my staying and absolutely recommend it
First, the room they gave me was occupied by someone else, ie I walked into a room with someone else's things there. When I went back to the front desk, it didn't seem to bother the concierge much. The room I ended up in was arguably bigger than the original, but had a wet carpet and the TV didn't work. Finally, my room wasn't made up until 6pm on my 3rd day of staying there.
I used to love this hotel, but that was before I stayed in other nearby hotels. If you use the internet, stay at the Dream (Just as good but with blazing fast FREE WiFi)
In terms of quality overall is it no better or worse than The Dream hotel, however the standard has the worlds worst internet. The "High Speed" internet tops out at 2.5Mb, slower than my phone, and costs $20 for one day.
They do have an ethernet option, but it doesn't work, and I'm pretty sure it is just a means of upselling the terrible premium WiFi, it doesn't work, they know that, they bring up a cable, then leave, then 5 minutes later the phone rings, it's the guy who just delivered the cable, how is it going he asks, it isn't working you tell him, oh well we have this premium service, oh really so glad you called.
You then spend 30 minutes on the phone to some guy in India, why he bumbles through connecting you to the terribly low speed "Hi Speed" connection.
Not worth staying here unless you're literally in NY to tour rooftop clubs. 3-4 floors down from the rooftop there's a good chance you'll feel plenty of bass from the rooftop and have a ruined night of sleep. The bathrooms also have a weird space-stingy layout where there is neither a door nor a shower wall, so prepare to freeze and have water go everywhere.
Probably the only redeeming quality is the view.
One of my favorite spots to stay in NY! Stephanie G and Marco at the front desk are super helpful and I can't say enough good things about them. Rooms are super chic with giant windows and great views, red tiles in the bathroom are super cool. Great food and drink with lots to do in the area! A must see!
Not A hotel for old people.
Not use for bed not to have a box mattress. Never less the bed was very confortable but I almost had to call a wrecker to pull me out in the morning it was so low.
Not having access to two sides of the bed but only one. The other two are again the wall. So imagine jumping the old lady at night to go visit the WC. Made me sad that I didn t use the situation to take advantage of a blue pill but forgot them.
Last I love you kids and your fancy designs.
A black restroom light switch on a black wall made feel like Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder trying to get out of a concert on my own.
Please put a sign outside. Hotel forbitten to over + 60. I love you to.
Drinks were great. Service, decor, and perfect weather made for an amazing time.
We had to make a reservation 1 week in advance, to be able to get in. Live music, great cocktails & view. Everybody in their best self, dressed chic, sun setting over NYC. It s somehow like a dream
My wife and I stayed here 5/21/18 - 5/22/18, the next morning it was my sons college graduation my wife was showering and water was flooding the room. I called the front desk 3 times in 20 minutes for a plumber finally a maintenance shows up with a screwdriver . I had to take one minute shower so room won t flood again . The toilet bowel was loose and moving on floor. This hotel is higly overrated !! There is no closet space and the hallways smell like scope . I come home and check reviews only to see 2 weeks prior the room flooded for someone else room # 1604 . The hotel manager HA told my wife and I she would take a 100.00 off the bill this is so insulting .
