Great hotel with fantastic with some of the best front desk staff. Did not receive five dates just true to size of rooms yet to be expected with age of hotel.
Great hotel with fantastic with some of the best front desk staff. Did not receive five dates just true to size of rooms yet to be expected with age of hotel.
Great location. Friendly staff. Crazy small elevators.
Fantastic rooms, conference amenities and restaurants.
Gorgeous hotel with a lot of history. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the room was nice. Great location with food, drinks, and shopping within walking distance. Worth the time to sight see inside the hotel as well. The Rathskeller is really cool to check out.
The walls are very thin could hear the people next to us all night and the room was smaller than i expected
The staff were very welcoming and the architecture and art are absolutely stunning!
Myself and 3 others went to The Old Seelbach
bar for drinks last night. The bar has been remodeled, the dark wood, intimate lighting, and warm, cozy environment has been replaced with a contemporary, loud, and obtrusive environment.
Our servers, Zach, took our initial drink order but never returned for following orders. We had to go to the bar for other drinks. Zach was at the bar during one our trips, apologized for not coming back to our table and again never returned. This "high end" bar served a bottled beer to a woman with no offer of a glass. The Sauvignon Blanc choices consisted of Rodney Strong and Kim Crawford, two terrible and cheap choices. The wine was warm, the glass was warm, and the wine tasted as if the bottle had been open for an extended amount of time. It was so bad, I traded the wine for a Miller Lite. My friend ordered a Maker's 46 and diet, the bar had run out of 46, the order was changed to Maker's and diet. This is bourbon bar in Kentucky that is out of a local bourbon. Once the drink arrived, the diet Coke was flat and thus started our trips to the bar. My husband ordered a Sweet Water IPA bottle, received a Sweet Water pale ale off tap. Upon the second order of the IPA, he had to ask for a glass.
Once Zach did return to out table, I inquired about the Hummus. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was made in house, only to be informed food was no longer being served. At this time our bill was presented. I was so put off by the experience, it was difficult to justify the spending of the money.
We use to look forward to going to The Old Seelbach to listen to jazz and have some drinks after this experience none of us will be returning.
Attended for a conference. The rooms and staff were great!
Very neat place with lots of history very near many restaurants and events. Staff were extremely friendly and seemed to enjoy being part of it all.
I bought a room for my sister and her husband for their wedding night. Thinking that it would be a quiet since it s such a classy hotel but instead heard dog barking! Really!? Come on and took an hour for them to have it quieted! I m very disappointed about hearing abt this.
There is nothing honest about the valet drivers or manager Mustafa at the Seelbach Hilton location. I valet parked my flawless 2014 Tundra with them and received it back with scraped damage on the right front bumper, headlight and trim piece. He said it wasn't his fault because none of the other vehicles next to mine was damaged. It happened sometime when I left the truck with them and when I picked it up from them..probably in transit between the front of the Seelbach and the parking spot. My truck console was rummaged though as well and Mustafa wouldnt accept responsibility for it either because he interviewEd the drivers and they said they didn't do it. Who would admit to something against their policy. If you have a flawless car and don't want it rummaged though, don't valet park at the Seelbach hotel in Louisville, KY. The worst experience ever and a lying manager on top of it. I know Seelbach doesn't manage the valet but they need to get an honest valet service. DO NOT Valet park at the Seelbach, they are the most crooked people I've ever dealt with.
Absolutely amazing hotel. So historic. Lobby is seriously breathtaking
Everything about my stay was wonderful! The staff we incredibly helpful and friendly!!
Comfortable rooms with a sense of nostalgia. Pleasant, courteous and helpful staff. Restaurants and bars are good enough to where there is no need to leave the hotel for anything.
Very clean and nice employees. Just wish they had a pool
Very, very nice hotel. Lobby is in pristine condition and the staff couldn't be more friendly. If you're coming to louisville, this is the place to stay.
great hotel. the hotel is older, with a lot of character in the rooms. The bar is historical and has a great bourbon selection, the restaurant has good food, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The location of the hotel is also great, just across the street from 4th Street live. Would stay again.
The staff is very professional and the room, while a bit small, is beautiful. I am very satisfied with my stay here.
Not on par with other Hiltons, very poorly maintained bathrooms and very high convenience fees. Extremely dissatisfied by the staffs handling of my concerns as well. Frankly I've stayed in nicer Econolodges. Clearly a hotel in decline and a miserable representation of the brand.
The accommodations were nice but the staff snooty. My ipad was stolen from the lobby after checking in and they offered and did nothing to help. I was referred to lost services. I informed it was NOT lost but stolen from patron from the bar walking out the door. I contacted staff detective which was off duty and never filed a report. I asked about cameras I saw, they said non functioning. Desk clerk remembered seeing me with it when I checked in. THEY OFFERED AND DID NOTHING! This was a very ecpensive hotel. I am very disappointed and disgusted in the service. I would NEVER. recommend them! Save your money. Nothing special here ..Call the police don't count on them.
The hotel is beautiful and located right on 4th Street Live. The service was great and they provide a free shuttle service to the airport. I would love to stay again.
Beautiful Historic Hotel with beautiful architecture. Worth visiting
Great place if you like historic downtown spots. Well appointed and the staff is top notch.
Great service. Not the best of hotels in terms of room and other amenities.
Upon arrival, extremely impressed at the welcome and consideration to our needs. A great personal touch from using name, asking about trip and making the best of the stay on property. Rooms very modern (newer property) with all of the conveniences you expect. Outlets where you want them! On site restaurant and lobby areas well laid out. Parking can be...
Just good.
Lemme just cut right to it. The bed was not a queen, it was a full, and it was like sleeping on a board. Terrible.
When you put your head on a pillow, the pillow splays out. You might as well just put your head on the bed.
Location is alright. Diamond members get the luxury of reheated eggs and (if you're lucky) bacon.
AC was meh. Room was incredibly small.
All of that being said, it fit our needs fairly well and is centrally located. When we come back to Louisville, I won't be returning.
Extremely helpful and accommodating. Amazingly helpful staff and a beautiful hotel. Only reason it didn't get the 5th star is because the room kept sporadically getting warm throughout the night even with the air conditioning on.
Nice place to visit only a half a block from 4th street live plus there alot of other things to do in the area shops and little restaurants
The property is by Hilton, and so I expected a bit more. The room I stayed in was definitely small, which wasn't a problem by itself. But the bathroom was so narrow, that I had to walk around the sink to reach the toilet. I understand it's an historic hotel, but the carpets definitely seemed dated, rather than just reminiscent of the period. The doors are narrow (indicative of the period), but unfortunately it made it feel a little old, too. As with lower-scale hotels, I struggled to find an operational vending machine. In the middle of the night, after a hotel representative happened to see me wandering the halls on several floors, he suggested a floor to which I could go to find a soda or water. It was just annoying, and sub-par for the Hilton brand. The lobby is impressive and ornate, and I enjoyed being able to go downstairs to the old hangout where historic card games were held. The location is right next to Fourth Street Live! which feels like a small Las Vegas being lit up all night.
I ordered room service one evening, consisting of a cheeseburger, a creme brulee, and a glass of wine. It took over an hour to reach my room, which was a disappointment. I was staying for business, but I would probably not choose this hotel again if I was on vacation.
I enjoyed my visit overall. The customer service here was great! There was an issue with my room that they fixed right away. It is very beautiful and historic, however the rooms were a little small. Very nice hotel and in an area that is close to a lot of attractions. Would recommend staying here.
Pretty awesome hotel. Be aware it's an extra 16 bucks to park.
This hotel is beautiful, great place to have a high school prom!
Everything is grand and historic! Our night in the Old Seelbach Bar was dissatisfying with our food taking 2 hours to receive, but we were treated to a wonderful breakfast to make up for it.
Very nice historic hotel. Clean rooms, attentive staff.
Excellent staff. Very courteous. Great experience overall
Absolutely gorgeous place. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The valet Logan was especially helpful. Walking distance from Fourth Street Live. Great experience. I would definitely visit again!
Love the Seelbach. The hotel has such a great historic feel and the Old Seelbach bar was a great bourbon bar before bourbon was "cool". Great proximity to 4th St and all the great nightlife around Louisville now.
The staff was super nice and the hotel was beautiful!
We enjoyed the ambiance at the Seelbach. The bar was very pleasant, good cocktails. Our room was well appointed. Could have used a small fridge. Had everything else we needed and it was clean.
Staying for a conference. Classic building, clean rooms, pleasant experience.
Stopped in at the starbucks for coffee and breakfast. Coffee was typical starbucks dark brew and they did not have the breakfast sandwich i wanted. Nice place to sit and people watch though. Sits on a corner downtown street with seating by windows...always entertaining.
I did not actually stay here but did have a few days of meetings here. It is well kept and has some great old timey feel to it with a lot of antiques and original art work, flooring and woodwork. Most of the staff are very friendly (opening doors, taking bags etc.) But some of the catering crew that were serving lunch on 2 different days in 2 sepperate areas where very rude when assked about product that had gone fast or early.
The grand ballroom was an excellent venue for our company Christmas party!
The Seelbach Hilton is an amazing gem that we are lucky to have in Louisville. It is the type of place that is one of a kind and all travelers visiting Louisville should try to stay here at least once. How could you not want to at least stop by a hotel that has been featured in movies including "The Insider", "The Hustler" and "The Great Gatsby". Even if you do not stay here it is worth visiting to see how hotels should be built and operated. Not only is the hotel service amazing but the hotel itself has a couple places within that are historic enough that there have been History Channel specials describing them in detail. The two I will mention here are the Al Capone room, which is located in the Oak Room Restaurant, and the Rathskeller, which is located in the basement.
The Al Capone room is on the second floor of the hotel and is a private dining room that can accommodate around 12 people. It is a long narrow room where the east side of the room has windows that overlook 4th & Muhammad Ali Blvd, the south side of the room has doors that open to the Oak Room restaurant, the west side of the room has a large mirror hanging on the wall(more about the mirror in a moment) and the north side of the room has a nice painting of a lake or something hanging on it. The room is fairly narrow but the history of the room makes it well worth spending a cozy night with friends drinking Bourbon in Louisville, Kentucky well worth squeezing by others sitting down. The mirror that is hanging on the west wall supposedly is a mirror that Al Capone brought down to Louisville so he could cheat while playing poker in this room. The mirror is angled so you could see what players sitting on the west side of the table were holding in there hand if you were playing poker. The bookcase on the north side of the room to the left of the painting one of the panels moves to reveal a secret passageway that leads underneath the Seelbach into the sewers. Supposedly there are routes in all four directions that would allow Al Capone ton escape should the police attempt to break up the card game or if they were there specifically looking for Al. Needless to say you can literally feel the history in the room and of course the food at the Oak Room is out of this world.
Next the Rathskeller is really cool. I believe Rathskeller translates to bar below street level or bar in the basement of a city hall or something like that. Anyhow two brothers built the Seelbach Rathskeller and now-a-days only private parties are held in this location. I have included a couple of pictures of the Rathskeller and you can find plenty of information about it on the Internet.
The rooms in the Seelbach are a bit dated but to me that is part of the charm of the hotel. You just will not find many hotels that have the historic feel of the Seelbach all while still accomplishing 4-diamond luxury status. To many presidents to name have stayed in this hotel including as recent as George Bush(2002) and as far back as William Taft(1911).
Do yourself a favor and stay at least a couple nights at the Seelbach Hilton in Louisville to experience the charm of a real hotel.
The customer service was amazing, the food that was catered was amazing and our room for the night was amazing! This place is amazing!
Historic hotel with FANTASTIC service. I am a Platinum with Marriott and a Gold with Hilton; the staff at the Seelbach Hilton made me feel more valued and accommodated me far better than the Marriott downtown did. If I find myself in Louisville again, I WILL be staying at the Seelbach again.
Pretty pricey for old stuff. Good to say I did it but I prefer newer nicer luxurious room. Sorry just not my style.
I was there for an event with my son. We had very friendly staff, and a very nice room. I taxi driver told us that Al Capone used to stay there, and would sneak in and out of the hotel via catacombs under the hotel.
My boyfriend and I have special memories here and always enjoy coming back to stay every few years. It's a beautiful, historic, clean hotel with wonderful staff. Room service is fantastic also. If you're looking for a place to stay downtown, this is my number one recommendation!
Was really disappointed - lobby is quite grand but the rooms are small and worn out. Kind of like a fancy motel 6 but a lot more expensive. Had a ROACH in the bathroom and the staff was not suprised
Cockroach was laying dead next to a wall in the main lobby near the Gatsby restaurant. Rooms small, not pristine and service was poor.
Gorgeous older hotel with newer amenities. Rooms are a bit small compared to newer hotels
Great location on 4th st, lots of resturaunts close by, historical hotel, supposed haunted, hx with Al Capone, rooms small, part of Urban Bourbon trail. Parking expensive, $30 valet, $20 if u self park
Upon checking in, the gentleman behind the desk never looked up but simply said "name"... that's how it started. The check in process never improved. He still didn't look at me when we were wrapping up, gave me the key and told me which direction to walk to find the elevator. I stayed there and after a few seconds he finally looked at me and I said, "I hope you have a good day" - he did respond "you too". The location is wonderful and foyer beautiful. We paid for an upgraded room - not sure what the standard would have been. The rooms are small, the towels are small, the toilet clogged, and the sink didn't drain. As we were getting ready to leave for the day, there was a smell of sewage. There were gentlemen standing by the door who looked as though they were part of the Hilton team and there to wish you well and open the door but, unfortunately, were immersed in conversation ignoring the other guests coming and going. At the end of our day we came back and decided to have a drink to toast a great visit to Louisville. The bar smelled of fish and the bartender was as flat and unresponsive as the check in person. I ordered the Seelbach specialty drink - it was simply terrible... I have to believe he just didn't make it right. We left our drinks with cash as the bartender never came back to see how things were. In the morning we texted to have our car pulled around. There were multiple people waiting on their cars but I noticed that no one was helping with luggage, an older couple was struggling and a patron waiting on their car helped them with the door an their luggage. It was hit or miss if they even opened the door. Other patrons were more responsive to the needs of some of the patrons then the team standing by the door. Once in the lobby we received a text saying the car would arrive in 7 minutes. After 15 minutes a gentleman came and asked our name, which we provided. A few minutes later he came back and asked to see our ticket. 15 minutes later and no one waiting for their cars but us, I went back in and asked the status. The gentleman said oh he just went to get it. 8 minutes more and our car finally arrived... I had stayed at the Seelbach a couple years ago and the service was amazing which i what precipitated my recommendation to our friends that we stay here - This experience was less than satisfactory. I am not a high maintenance person, however, I do hope for a smile and a greeting by the team selected to be the face of the business. There was 1 woman who offered me water when I was coughing - I wish I had asked her name. She came around from an office behind the front desk and was the only person that seemed to take notice of the patrons in the lobby.
Fantastic staff. Clean hotel. Rooms are definitely on the small side. Hotel is extremely well kept. Especially for a hotel that over 100 years old. Couldn't ask for a better location.
History of this place is cool. Staff are beyond friendly. The rooms are smaller, boutique hotel. Beds were comfy enough and the towels were amazing. The hotel itself needed a little TLC.. it appears opulent on the surface, but if you look beyond the history you will see the hotel is in need of some updating. I would totally stay here again, as I love the ambiance. I would give the staff here 5 star as they were great.
Ramon was Outstanding! I almost canceled my entire stay after conversing with an employee on October 30th at 9pm, he was extremely rude and couldn t/wouldn t even make a easy hotel reservation for me (he refused). Having had worked for Hilton at the front desk for over half a decade it was surprising that a front desk agent wouldn t even help me with such a simple task. Ramon stepped in where the other staff member let me down! I actually look forward to my stay now thanks to Ramon! Very Happy :)
It's a very well kempt, professional and courteous staff. I enjoyed it very much so
I enjoyed my stay here. It's nice being in a historical hotel to experience a little bit of the times while having modern amenities. It was a quick stay but I would definitely come again.
Stopped in to take photos of the lobby. Beautiful. .
We stayed for Thunder Over Louisville. Was absolutely a 5 star experience. The staff was amazing. Great southern charm with just the right amount of elegance. The facility was beautiful. Great history in this hotel. It's a tourist attraction in itself. Just a block from 4th St. Live & a short walk to the river bank. Let's you enjoy the festival but also bug out & not wait in hours of traffic when it's over. All in all, it was a great experience.
As one would expect in a 113 years old hotel, it has a few minor issues, but they add to the character and charm of this beautiful place.
The staff is warm and inviting
The rooms are cozy, but well laid out
Great Hotel, glad we stayed! Check out the Rathsteller if it's open!
Love everything about seelbach. They were kind and considerate. They fixed the mix up after we got there. They helped with my husband and his wheelchair. We didn't get to eat,but next time we will. Just love it
Old, cool hotel. There for a wedding, fun place to stay.
Great hotel, very well situated right beside 4th Street Live in downtown Louisville. Wonderful hospitality and a great night of sleep.
Great historical hotel. Beautiful building inside and out. Loved it.
Nice old Hotel. Has a lot of character. Pick a good room they very by size. 1008 is a very large room with a standup shower. Most of the others have tubs.
