Robert Fath Review of The Royal Hawaiian Hotel Resor...

Stayed here for two nights during our honeymoon.
Rooms: We upgraded to an ocean facing room. Definitely worth the upgrade as the view was phenomenal, the room comes with lanai, and it grants you access to this exclusive room which serves free breakfast in the morning and free happy hour/snacks in the evening. The room itself was well maintained. Furnishings were nice and modern. Bathrooms have the japan style toilets with the bidet. Only things that I disliked about the room were the water pressure in the shower (extremely weak) and the lack of outlets directly next to the bed.
Service: I read reviews previously that they thought the service was lacking at the hotel and staff seemed not to care. I had the exact opposite experience. I thought every encounter I had with staff was a pleasant one and all seemed eager to help. Plus, the lady at the front desk sent a bottle of champagne up to us on the house to celebrate our honeymoon. It wasn t expensive bottle but small touches like that go a long way.
Amenities: My wife and I spent most of our time outside of the hotel and Waikiki so we didn t really get to experience everything the hotel had to offer. The things we did try, the pool and beach grounds, were a little disappointing. Considering how big the hotel is, the pool and beach front were extremely undersized. The pool and the surrounding chairs were packed before noon and same with the beach chairs. At one point during our stay, we tried to rent boogie boards and were upset to find out that they stopped rentals at 3:30 PM. Overall though the grounds are well maintained and are beautiful.
Parking: I had to make a special note about this. Parking is 50 bucks a night. While I know this due to the limited space available in Waikiki, it just feels excessive to me. I would recommend trying to find a cheaper lot and just drop your bags off at the front at check in.
In summary, if you are looking for a swanky hotel to celebrate a special trip or occasion, I think this is the best hotel to stay on Waikiki. The historic charm gives it an extra over the competition.
