At first I was very frustrated when I found out that you can only call them if you have an annual subscription of $120 a year. I opened a case and emailed them, after all I spent $250 on my scanner already. After a few times emailing back and forth the rep agreed to give me a one time courtesy call and sure enough Joshua called the next day. I was on the phone for him for 2 hours, he needed to install a new software and 2 more drivers from the website that you only get access to when you pay the $120 annual fee. Thank god they do have a 30 day free trial so I signed up and got all programs. I will definitely make sure to cancel before the trial period expires because I don't see the point to have a subscription for an office equipment. It is not like they maintain it or fix it if it breaks. I think that part if very poor of the NEAT company, they told me they had changed this 1 year ago. I am positive it does not necessarily help their customer retention because they are making it really difficult. Joshua however was very professional and helpful and set me up so I can use the regular software locally on my computer once the trial is finished. He ensured everything was working and answered all my questions in the process and was very patient about it.
My message to the NEAT company, this wouldn't be a 5 star review if it wasn't for your brilliant employees, the product might be good but the company philosophy or SOPs stink!! I say get rid of that damn subscription if you want to sell more products. The scanner by itself is already expensive. No need to give the buyer a hard time additionally.
