Very good collection with time to sit and be amazed
Love this gallery. The exhibits are what you'd expect for a key gallery in the capital. They don't disappoint. My particular favourite is the execution of lady jane grey by Paul delaroche. Obviously it is a horrific topic but the emotion captured as well light as the light on the skirt is amazing
Unfortunately with Covid they could have been more careful to protect us. Booking on line was perfect arriving was fine too but suddenly rooms were filling up more people coming in more and more showing up. People were taking picture of themselves removing their mask for a very long time. Big down side they were removing their mask. Security personal did not do their job at all to protect us they should have been telling people to keep their mask on cover their nose not kissing keeping their distance we had to tell people put your mask on, back off, 2 meters, not pleasant to play the police at all. The number of people booking in one time slot was way too high. We needed to run for the last part scared to catch Covid too msny people. It ruin the all idea of going there thinking they wont be a crowd in every room. .I have to mention the new paintings addition are very nice. Wait after Covid.
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to fully appreciate this excellent gallery! Admission is free, and anyone with any sort of appreciation for art could easily spend hours here. Add the Portrait Gallery next door, and the beautiful plaza that leads up to both... you could spend all day here and not have any regrets!
Nice museum with good exhibitions. Been there a few times now.
A vast array of art but what a boring display, do the curators have no imagination? AND why does the information provided for each one have to be microscopic? Seriously, I might wear glasses but why so small?
Needed more time to see everything. Stroller friendly. Eating area found on lower floor very clean.
Obviously amazing, wonderful staff. i go all the time!!
A must visit place: one of the best art galleries in the world.
Three cafes, so can relax when culture seems in danger of overwhelming you.
A free and amazing art museum! There is something for everyone in here and they have one of the biggest and best museum shops that I've ever seen! I recommend going later in the day (less crowded). If you enjoy art, this is a must see!
Im not the biggest art fan and as such I only know the artists taught in schools. But the magnificence of this building is breathtaking and walking round presented me with many famous works that I remember studying. My only complaint is the building is WAAAAY TO HOT!!! air conditioning is needed.
I recommend this object for people who loves art :)
Nice cosy little theatre, but beware of the uneven floor.
I really like coming here, the artwork is impressive and changes often enough to be interesting. However, they're sometimes closed for no apparent reason during their normal hours. I'd like to see a sign telling me why they're closed and whether regular working hours will be resumed the following day.
Great place to visit while in London. The collection of works of art is amazing. I personally love the impressionist work and the Da Venci's cartoon.
Visited the museum many times over the last 20 years and it is always intriguing and stimulating. A must-visit for any art lover.
Loved it. So much to see. You need to spend a few full days to be able to see and soak in all the art. It's a treasure trove. Make sure you get the audio guide for rent on the 2nd floor. It gives the description of almost every painting in the gallery.
We actually went to National Portrait gallery which is round the corner and very interesting. I haven't been to National Gallery for a few years so can't really comment properly at this time
Stunning collection covering many centuries. Get the excellent Audio Guide to hear commentary on many of the paintings.
Always worth a visit. Must see if you are in London for any length of time. Appreciate it, if you have a schedule to keep don't rush through pick a theme and do that.
One of the best art galleries in the world! Also a good stop for good public WC and a bit of rest when you are on your London tour.
My favourite of all of the galleries in London. If you like renaissance style art this gallery specialises in it. It is a great walk around to look at the masters of the craft and the admire the talent and ability of such skilled individuals.
With many of London's attractions costing so much it makes a change to go somewhere with free entry and possibly something that little bit different, well worth a look around especially if the weather let's you down.
Absolutely stunning collection of some of the world's finest art works. You have to see it to believe it.
Some rooms were closed for refurbishment, but the ones I saw were very good. The collection contains a bit of everything, with many masterpieces
Leonardo exhibition wonderful. Talk on the ambassadors entertaining and informative
Just opposite to Trafalgare Square...This Magnificent collection of paintings and so May things from Midevial age....
Free entry
The layout can be a bit confusing, especially for people without much art history background. However, it's great to see the amazing originals of key paintings from all around Europe and from many times in history.
Very beautiful gallery, very well maintained and interesting. Also great views outside for pictures!
Another of those places one can revisit several times and still find something new. Even my soon-to-be teenagers, (moooooom, I don't like paintings) were fascinated and we were counting hats, butterflies and swimmers. Already looking forward to going back
Always worth a trip if you like paintings, portraits in special
Very good gallery with an interesting permanent collection and varied temporary exhibitions.
It's free and pretty awesome, but a lot of similar art work, heavy on Christ and religion
Who would miss it? Free, open late on Thursdays, and an amazing collection (especially the Tudor/Stuart collection).
Beautiful, go when it's quiet. You would think they would open up the corridor that links it to the National Portrait Gallery.
Interesting place and very popular . Shame I missed Lord Cheshire exhibition
Must go to art museum in London. Free to oublic. Inevitably many notable works if art. Will not disappoint.
A great gallery with really informative staff ready to help you. I really enjoyed going on my audio tour - I will be coming back to look at the other exhibitions in more detail soon!
I enjoyed being at this amazing place. Been lost in various rooms full of artistic masterpieces.
One of the must go places in London, no matter wether or not you like art treasures of the world, you need to get in there and feel it, embrace those greatest of the great art collections!
Extraordinary building with a wealth of extraordinary art.
What an amazing experience! Beautifully presented artwork with good narrative in each. Places to sit and reflect, good food in the cafe .... A place to visit again and again, it's impossible to do everything in one visit.
Beautiful and very well organized! The staff was great and the entry is free! All that is asked is a small donation
Wow!!! Beyond my expectations. Visited on Chinese New Year and they had wonderful interactive and hand's on activities for families with small children.
Beautiful masterpieces I've waited my whole life to see!!!
We especially loved the van Gogh. It's a shame that Sunflowers was on loan.
10/10 but I m biased cos I love art. You have to go, amazing place
Very awesome- enter and be amazed at all the famous paintings you never thought you would see. Be amazed at all the superb paintings you have never seen or heard of before
Beautiful gallery and amazing paintings. When anyone has interest in paintings they can spend hours and hours here untill they are tired and feet hurts :) For those people it is not a single hop on hop off trip. If u are on one day London trip then clicking pictures is best you can do :) . Entry is free so it is definitely worth going and not to miss at least visit. London. Is overall beautiful.... Love the place
Great day out for free loads of historic paintings and good education
Enjoyed admiring the gallery! Was interesting stories behind each and every paintings!
This place is like a Bible for am artist .. Collection of World famous art and paintings under single hood.
It is one of the most exquisite art collection in the world and can satisfy (almost) any expectation. In additions to the main gallery, which is free of charge, there are regular exhibitions, which have an entrance fee. Of course, the gallery is usually full of tourists as it is located beside Trafalgar square.
The Sainsbury's Wing has the best collection of early mediaeval art I have seen in the UK.
Went for Gauguin exhibition which was interesting and having watched the film some weeks earlier really helped. After that we wandered around the gallery. So impressed with range of paintings on view. Need to go back again and again. But will not revisit the national dining room. Slow service and miserable staff.
Always worth a visit whilst in London - the Tudor gallery brought my recently read history books to life
It was a great Sunday afternoon surrounded by the masterpieces! Great place, worth visiting!
You can see here master pieces for free. One of the bests museums in the world.
