Hotel and room was great clean and tidy but went for breakfast Sunday morning all hell had broken lose, we were queueing for 15 mins no tables and they kept running out of food on the pass, not enough staff, ruined the whole breakfast experience, also big queues on check out, again lack of staff, would not stay again at the weekend

Very nice 4 star hotel in a rural setting on the edge of Thatcham, 15 minutes from Newbury. Rooms are smart and clean with desk for working and free WiFi throughout. Food and drink are very expensive for what it is so I recommend eating out in Newbury. As a guest you have full access to the pool and gym facilities which are good quality. Would recommend for a few nights stay if working in the area.

Booked this hotel for a couple nights via escape as it was advertised as a hotel and spa and we have struck lucky with deals there before. This was not the case this time. The hotel was nice enough and the room was clean and a good size. We More

Hotel room was huge!! first impressions were really good. The reception was extremely slow due to one receptionist checking us in and a queue of people all the way to the outside of the hotel. I assumed as most people book a room in advance the hotel management may have thought this through?
Main reason for the one star,
I left some belongings including cash in a hotel draw, and on phoning the hotel, I was told that no one was allowed into the room for THREE day due to Covid-19 restrictions.
So I was told they would get back to me back in three days.
I fired off an email in the morning as I was quite concerned for my belongings and cash. I also phoned the hotel that morning to explain and was told that they had responded to me via email and that nothing was found in the room. I mentioned the three day rule and was ignored about this but was told that the head housekeeper would be asked to look into this and they would phone me straight back. No phone call was returned to me.
A few hours later I phoned again to see what the Head Housekeeper had said. I was told they had once again emailed me to say nothing had been found. I said I was awaiting a call much earlier , but the sharp response was that they had emailed instead. I then mentioned that I would have to get the police involved as this was now a criminal matter as one or more employees at the hotel had stolen my cash and items. The response was, "ok then, we will assist the police, have a good day."

I was driving to Minehead during this , so emails were of no use when using hands free devices.
During all this, the management did not contact me.
I then received a phone call from the hotel explaining that the evening receptionist (the one who said no one was allowed in the room for three days) had found the items and cash and left a note and placed them in a safe.
I then drove all the way back to the hotel a few days later to pick up all my belongings.
I was asked my name, given my things and no apology, very poor show indeed.

Very criminal.

I hated the way they treated me, I hated the way the management refused to get in touch, I don't know if the staff can be trusted , it feels like they are all in on it as not one member was willing to help until the Police were mentioned.
So, one star is far too many .

Nice!

Beautiful hotel in a quiet location. The Regency Park Hotel is close to major arterial roads making access easy. The accommodation was lovely and the bed was super comfortable; no mini fridge in the room though. A pleasant surprise was the new smart television in the room, not an old legacy LCD screen as in a lot of other hotels. Meals were great, especially breakfast. Hotel staff was friendly and welcoming. There is a spa on site which I did not get to use on this occasion. Will definitely go back; highly recommended!

We ran a corporate event at the Regency and I have to say they were excellent. Staff were attentive and the facilities were really good. Best of all was the super lunch. Every one of our delegates commented about the high quality food. I really recommend this place as a corporate venue.

Popular spa hotel & restaurant. Room smelt damp. As I was there for 1 night, I decided not to report. However the restaurant staff were great, especially Alina for sorting out special options.

Modern luxury. Slightly disappointed there were no grounds to walk in but hopefully they'll develop the area. The menu was also limited in the dining room - there was a more extensive menu for room service. But my confit of duck was delicious and afternoon tea nicely done. If you're over the parkland suite you do get the noise from the disco until midnight. But it was extremely clean and everything worked. The big pull is the pool and jacuzzi. And we had a wonderful treatment too. Definitely would recommend.

Really relaxing overnight stay. Friendly and efficient staff. Clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was great. We upgraded as a treat and the room was lovely but only had a shower No bath which was a bit of disappointment as we thought an upgrade would mean all singing and all dancing extras otherwise very nice indeed.

Myself and my colleague visited the hotel on 08/01/2020.

Shortly upon arrival and check in. I realised we could access the adjoined room which was currently occupied with other guests, obviously made reception immediately aware who sent someone up to resolve the issue of the door locking. The member never of staff sent to resolve the issue, went left with no explanation. Once we had returned to the room assuming it was secure, we realised we could access and be accessed by others guest conjoining doors, and quite frankly alarmed by security and safety of the room, once again made reception aware. The people on reception simply advised this is Newbury nothing will happen . After back and forth until past midnight were offered a relocation to which
After next year no sleepy after the circumstances, upon check out we once again made reception a aware, with no apologies. Worst case experience at a hotel ever!

Nice hotel only criticism is no permanent people behind the bar during the day. Waited 20 minutes to get a beer and a pint Staff seem to be either doing something else or chatting to other staff

Great stay at lovely hotel. Great value for money. Nice added bonus of a pool and sauna. Food in the restaurant was good as it was part of our deal. The restaurant staff were friendly if not a little Partridgesque. Will definitely visit again if in the area.

Stayed here in December 2016 and happily settled into my room and had a shower it wasn't until I was sitting on my bed watching a movie that I noticed my bed was covered in bed bugs. I immediately called Reception and was moved to another room within ten minutes. I truly believe the staff were shocked in finding the bed bugs as they took photos and moved me swiftly, apologising continually. In addition I was told by the desk staff at check in that breakfast was served until 10am so arrived down the next morning around half 9 to find it had stopped serving moments before.

Reception 10/10. Check-In 10/10. Room was lovely and clean but a bit dated and tired. The main issue is we paid a significant upgrade fee to get a premier room but still had no Air-Con. We were given a little desk fan but this was shockingly noisy and the room was so hot it just moved the hot air around. We had an afternoon tea in the restaurant which was very good. We had also booked our evening meal their too and I have to say the whole experience was first class, the service, the quality, the quantity, everything was 5 star. Now the breakfast, truly my worst breakfast experience ever. On arrival we were greeted with a firm room-number I was behind my wife and just prior to this my wife turned to me and obviously didn t hear but before I could introject the woman really aggressively with a raised voice almost shouted ROOM NUMBER . I then stated our room as was very firmly told there s tables by the window Well we finally found what I could only think was there idea of a made up table, big heavy duty mugs, the cutlery just in a pile in the table with what was obviously supposed to be napkins but were little more than tissues. Anyway we waited and waited and nothing so I went to investigate. Thankfully another kind guest explained you just helped yourself to what ever was left, they both said We think they got out of the wrong side of the bed... How true, we decided to go for cooked but this was shocking, obviously all had been cooked off in the early hours and just left in ovens to dry out. the eggs were solid, the bacon looked as if it was cooked perfectly but when you attempted to cut it just shattered, and the sausages you couldn t even cut through the skins... truly shocking. We did pass comment on leaving and I thought maybe we would of been contacted but alas no, so my thoughts and comments are now for all to see.

Checkin: From hotel experience I would say it is ok and average. The checkin took wat too long even though there weren't many people.

Room: no AC, which seemed not to be a problem as it usually doesn't get as hit as this year in 2018. The room, I think superior was very spacious and on ground level which made it quite comfortable even though it was hot outside.

Staff: very friendly

Breakfast: though it was continental it was not as good as it should be for a 4 star hotel. Compared to my previous stay in paddington this breakfast was below average, which is why I skipped it the second morning. the buffet ran out of scrambled eggs and bacon and other stuff twice during my first breakfast. So there is room for improvement.

It's a nice enough hotel; plenty of parking, spacious room, comfortable bed, clean albeit a bit dated. Spa with good changing room facilities a jacuzzi, steam room and very small sauna. Food was good though choice in the restaurant not as good as in the bar. The bar was an average hotel bar (i.e. expensive and with no atmosphere) and the 20-minute walk to the village with its pubs probably too far for some.

But (and hence the 2-star review): staff and service was shocking. From first encounter (check-in at 6pm on a Friday) to last (check-out at 11am on a Sunday) we were faced with incompetence and rudeness. Front of house seemed like they'd never been faced with the public and seemed like rabbits in headlights (thought complaining about the flickering bulb in our room would have tipped them over the edge we didn't even bother); bar staff disinterested and bickering more about their colleagues and managers (and customers!) than serving, and some unprofessional comments should not be said behind a bar; restaurant staff need training (it's not up to the customer to ask what the soup of the day is, for example) and though quick in serving rarely cleared tables; and spa staff seemed surprised to see people (even though the facility was very busy).

I'm glad no staff seemed to care, though, and no one asked us how the food was or, as we checked out, how our stay had been, because we might have told them.

I am not, on the whole, convinced of the AA's 4-star rating.

very nice hotel, large light room with a balcony which was a surprise bonus. The room was a little tired but nothing to worry about. The room was very hot however the staff had made an effort to cool us down by providing a fan. The restaurant was pleasant and the menu reasonably priced or you could eat in the bar, this is partly why I rated good. The tables were not cleared and you could see customers clearing there own tables. Outside was worse very little outside space few tables overlooking the car park which were stacked with empty glasses and overflowing ashtrays, not a very nice place to relax. There was a large area round front of hotel which with a pagoda and a few hanging basket would be perfect for an evening drink in the sunshine. Large spa and pool available which I simply didn t have time to use but looked very good. Would stay again because location to Newbury was good . Nice stay but think hotel letting itself down by simply not providing nice atmosphere and ambiance, in the relaxing areas

Always a nice stay at the regency. The breakfast is plentiful and the staff are welcoming. The room temperature was a little difficult to adjust since it relied on whether the patio door was open or shut, but hey, having a patio was neat.
