Definitely recommended. The Luca Giordano gallery was my favourite. The paintings were unreal. Short but useful explanations to go with each picture throughout that leaves it open to you to analyse. You will love this place even if you don't tend to visit Art Galleries.

Absolutely remarkable! I had the best time getting lost in hallways filled with rich artworks from a wide variety of artists.

This is a popular gallery, so you must expect it to be full most of the time. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

Enjoyable experience.

The most incredible collection of paintings from the very early years of art to the modern times. Paintings include great masters of the Renaissance, rare masterpieces of the absolute genius Leonardo da Vinci and many others from all walks of art. Unmissable.

Wonderful experience. Be sure to take or download a map because there's a good chance you will get lost, despite the helpful staff. Fantastic permanent exhibits and great temporary exhibits as well. Managed to see Cole's Course of an Empire, so I'm a happy customer :)

Do not book your ticket online for the Impressionist exhibition. You will have to select a day and time to visit. Unfortunately I had a 4 hour transport delay and couldn't make it on time. I went the next day, a saturday around 3PM - peak time - but there was absolutely no queue and I was asked to buy another ticket. Need to waste time and money with useless online booking.

I'm not a natural art lover, but do love the National Gallery. Marvel at the masters and more for whatever price you feel like donating. For as long or short a time as you like. Overseas galleries should take note!

There s a cafeteria and a gift shop/book shop, that has loads of exiting things. So a perfect place to take kids along ... A must visit, don't miss it if you r in London.

You could spend hours wandering around but it's also great for just popping in and taking in a couple of galleries. Pretty busy as you can imagine, but still enjoyable. Took our son with us and he enjoyed the descriptions of the paintings.

My recent visit was the first time I have been when alone and for three hours was transfixed. Whilst visiting accompanied is a treat, I recommend a solo visit to avoid being rushed by ones companions.
It will need a few more 3 hour trips to cover everything.

One of the best sites in London. An incredible collection of art from around the world, covering all the best-known, and sometimes not so well known, greats. Every time I go I find something new, the sheer wealth of history is astounding.

One of my favourite museums in London. A beautiful collection of portraits from across the ages and well laid out, wasn't too busy on a Friday night apart from the British Portrait Awards room (seriously impressive work). Some of the best portraits I've ever seen and a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours in London.

Great place to visit. It's wonderful seeing the paintings with lots of colour. Normally you see lots of paintings in old houses (National Trust houses mainly) and they have such subdued colours they are had to make out. But the paintings here look freshly painted in comparison. An afternoon well spent.

I loved watching all these great paintings, especially the Leonardo da Vinci's ones.

It is not possible to see all in 1 day, there is too much stuff.

Beautiful paintings, it's so lovely to see all the various artists under one roof.
Follow the room numbers to ensure you see all the exhibits.
The cafe is reasonably priced for London.

It's a must , the National Gallery doesn't cost , but the time you spend there is priceless.
