Beautiful, breathtaking paintings in every direction but VERY crowded and loud. Make sure to go on an off time to be able to peacefully enjoy yourself. The museum isn't as big as the others, so feels very densely populated at busy times, unlike the other museums. Absolutely worth it! Amazing building and environment!

I love this place. Whether you like modern art, portraits, landscapes, this is the place for you. Some of my favourite artists are here (especially Canalletto). Again, whether you are 10 or 100, everyone will find a painting they love here.
It's the most beautiful place on earth with famous and obscure works of art...if you want to loose youself in the grandeur and epitome of beauty and live in awe feelings you never had, must visit this place
This museum was truly so beautiful! Getting to see Van Gogh s art in real life was such an honour. The staff are all really nice and not too intrusive but ready to help. The building is breathtakingly beautiful. There s so much seating and it isn t too loud, it s the perfect museum feeling to get lost in the art. I loved every moment here. Some of the other paintings were also very beautiful and it s like a labyrinth, you can go from room to room for different collections and you ll find your way back to the main hall easily. I definitely recommend this, it s also for free!
In Trafalgar Square so easy to get to by tube, bus or walk. Paintings of all genres by the greats of the craft. Mostly free but there is a charge for special exhibitions. Security is tight and everyone is searched on entry. There is a cafe and restaurant. Open late on Fridays. Excellent shop.
I spent the couple of days here just gazing at the awesome masterpieces they have in collection. Whenever I was hungry, I grabbed a bite and continued with my intense observation looking at the colours and marks on the beautifully framed paintings.
Beautiful European art that is inspiring, magnificent and educational at the same time. There is so much to learn about the political, social, and cultural history from the artworks. Highly recommended.
It's a must for art lovers. You can be easily two or three hours and don't cover properly all the rooms. Free admission. They also have free drawing events.
The National Gallery is one of the most extraordinary galleries that I've ever been to. It contains over 2,300 portraits dating all the way back to the mid-13th century. Information about every single portrait is available through a completely free audio tour! Can you imagine learning about the history of over 2,000 portraits?! Obviously, there is no way that anyone could get through all 2,300 portraits in one day, but it's amazing that you can learn about each and every portrait in depth. If I lived in London, this would be an excellent pastime activity. You could literally spend weeks and even months visiting this museum, and you'd learn something new during each and every visit.
It's a pretty impressive collection and it's free too! There are many paintings by Italian, French and English masters such as Caravaggio, Leonardo and Turner. Truly amazing
Great collection. Take the audio guides if you can. Adds a lot of depth to the experience. Could take days to do real justice to the collection but if you are short on time, plan to spend at least 90 minutes.
The Gauguin exhibition. Truly awesome. Would recommend investing in a headset whilst you're there to get some background and context of what your viewing.
The Bellini/Mantegna exhibit is terrific. By putting the two artists side-by-side, very often with the same subject matter, the viewer gets an unusually clear understanding of the two artists, and what makes each one distinct. This is the type of exhibit that really deepens ones art appreciation. We loved it.
Excellent place with a display of many important painter. Definatelly a must for London and for personal knowledge. Place is huge, entrance is free, paintings are amaizing and of course there is a shop packed with souveniers and everything you might think.
The art work was second to none. Magnificent. The restaurant was very poorly run and the service was way below expected standard. No idea about the food as we never received any after 30 minutes and left.
Good wet weather location. Busy but not mental busy. Hot inside and a few more proper masters would be good. Interesting if you like art ... especially religious paintings
Walked into friday late and had a wonderful hour just wandering in the free galleries looking at so many different paintings and marble busts. So many prime ministers I've never heard of. Whigs.
Incredible! Some pieces had me sitting down and just starting at them for several minutes at a time, it blew me away. I wish I lived here, that way I could keep coming back to this place, my wife had to keep dragging my along to each room haha.
This amazing gallery is free to enter..so many great masters who I just love ...people were all so friendly...I did get a cookie and cappuccino in the cafe and they were excellent ..wonderful experience
Great day out. The gallery has a great collection of portraits, which are displayed in amazingly ornate rooms. It's close to the train station and free (except for a few special exhibitions). What more could you ask for.
