Truly the national gallery. Incredible collection of art of masters. It's always full of people, lots of tourists.
Amazing time spent with lot of WaaaW and AHA moments..... it is a must see place if in London.
Great institution to enjoy fine art at a leisurely pace - all for free except special temporary exhibition
Friendly and helpful staff. Good exhibitions and outstanding collection.
Fun place to spend some time and learn some history.
Fantastic stuff to see, you can spend the entire day her just looking and relaxing.
A nice portrait gallery to visit, with many portraits of historic people. I enjoyed seeing portraits of the many important British scientists. I was surprised to find a portrait of George Washington and had a giggle at the description on the placard. Like the other national museums there is no fee, only an appeal for a donation.
The National Gallery is located at Trafalgar Square. The museum is to the north of Charing Cross Station.
Upon arrival at Trafalgar Square you are confronted by a magnificent building, that being the National Gallery. As usual with museums in London, there is a security check before entry.
This museum is free but I would suggest that a small donation is justified.
This museum houses over 2300 paintings dating from the 13th century to the 1900's, painted by the world's greatest artists. I'm from Australia and have only read or seen photos of these masterpieces, but to be only inches from these paintings is awe-inspiring.
I was particularly captivated by the portrait of the Doge Leonardo Loredan by Bellini.
Incredible experience seeing all the precious art, from all over the world, and of the best of the art world, including DaVinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael, etc. Absolutely mesmerized!
Pretty well organized, and not too hard to find things. More interesting than the Tate Britain by any standards really. I wish I had had more time on my family visit.
Stunning collection of paintings. Excellent viewing rooms.
Admission is free, it's in the centre of London and for anyone a must-go. So there is no reason for not actually going.
Did this on my first day in London and I'm so glad I did, it was super great. Beautiful and awe-inspiring when you've never been to a country with an old history, would recommend. Take your own food and eat in the square though. The food isn't bad there but a bit overpriced and the cafes aren't enjoyable dining spaces, the square would be much cooler.
What wonderful art on display and for free - a true national treasure!
Always busy but definitely worthy visiting if you re an art fan.
Great baby facilities and friendly staff. Buggy access is awkward with heavy doors but possible. We had a great time.
It was great. My husband and I really enjoyed our experience.
They have good exhibitions, beautiful Impressionist section, lovely staff and very good bookshops
Do take your time to visit this wonderful museums offering a large exhibition of masterpieces of different artists. Remarkable the items from ones of the most prestigious Italian artists such as Titian, Da Vinci, Canaletto and so on. Best place to go to explore all the Impressionism most famous paintings.
Great museum with a lot pf expositions. Plus, it s free o/
Most of the modern art is very unworthy seeing but worth seeing the older art selection like tudor and and victorian art
Fantastic attraction right in the heart of London. A must see and free entry!
Features my favorite painting of all time, Seurat: Bathers at Asnieres
Great place! Exterior and interior designs are really inspired. Arts inside are guided by a very immersive path.
A good place for people who enjoy paintings. You will easily get lost as there are hundreds of paintings on display. If you are unprepared, go to the souvenir shop first, so that you will quickly understand that which all are the "must not miss" artists and paintings.
Amazing experience! I got to see lots of paintings that was in my art history class. Too bad the Sunflower wasn t there when I visited...
Tons of masterpieces.
If you move fast, you can see all galleries in a day.
Free admission.
The National Gallery has a lot of paintings spread throughout. My personal favorites are the Monet s. Many of the paintings are portraits of wealthy dead people. There is a also a lot of religious art. Neither of those are particularly interesting to me, as I prefer landscapes. It is worth a visit if you re in the area.
Lots of paintings in here, and free to attend! They are mostly based around religion which isn't a problem, but I would like to see more variety.
Wonderful place, must-see! All the best paintings, some surprises and all in a perfect surrounding. Absolutely fabulous!
Take a break from the hustle of the city and take some time to chill out in a beautiful building; housing a fantastic collection of paintings from a multitude of artists including Bellini, Botticelli, Cezanne, Constable, Degas, Michelangelo, Monet, Raphael, Rembrandt, Renoir, Rousseau, Rubens, Titian, Turner, Van Gogh, Vermeer and more.
Many washrooms in Downtown London are not free, and the machines take only coins. I needed to pee desperately after a long touristy walk. After following the instructions for 10 min, finally I reached a washroom inside the underground compound. Unfortunately, I had never seen a British coin before! A kind lady tried to let me follow her to get in, but in came a big washroom guardian angel twice my size. She seemed to have an office there, as I couldn't see her before I got caught... This experience taught me not to take free washroom in London for granted, and visit one when available. That was the reason I visited National Gallery!I It turned out to be one of the best art museums , with amazing collections, and free to the public. Where else on earth can I accidentally stump upon master pieces from Van Gogh, Monet, and Renoir?!!
So much here with a great variety of paintings. Wouldn't recommend for younger children but it's something you should definitely visit.
Brilliant from the stsrt, do not confuse with the National Gallery.
Huge world class gallery with amazing pieces from various artists in thr middle of the city. It is free and gets very busy even during the week. Staff is friendly and tries to help with any questions you might have about the art. There is guided audio tour, restaurant, and gift and souvenir shop around the artwork. Make sure to get a map so you do not get lost.
Amazing place. I am not into art, but for everyone who loves art this will be perfect.
Years and years and years of history here in the perfect setting!
An amazing gallery with famous world-wide works of art from most of the periods of the art. The best thing it is free!!
Can overwhelm with size. Art gets moved around a lot making it hard to find
Great experience at this museum for tourists. I loved all the art work as well as the service!
I would recommend arriving early in the day so that you have ample time to explore all that this museum has to offer.
Too many noisy people. People don't enjoy the awesome art works. Just rush and be loud.
The Gallery worth visiting due to many amazing masterpieces. My advice: start from the most favourite pictures and plan at least 5 hours for being there or few days.
Very nice museum with a lot of art for every different taste
A haven of peace and calm amid the central city maelstrom. Only spoiled by having to negotiate those ridiculous "street performers" on the pavement outside.
An excellent gallery. True national treasure. Fantastic selection of events from lunchtime drawing to free tours/ and family workshops. Everybody working at the gallery is really friendly and professional.
Free entry. Brilliant collection, well displayed, informative item plaques.
Great permanent collection and temporary exhibitions
The National Gallery has wonderful exhibition of the Lord Jesus Christ among other paintings. There are lots rooms all connected together.
It's free and there's lot of paintings w/i. We did tea afterwards, in their nice dining room. We did 8 museums in a few days so the paintings blur together. I want to go back to this museum and start at the other end.
Wonderful museum!
There is SO MUCH incredible art and history to see through the eyes of the most brilliant painters in the world.
Van Gogh, Monet, Vermen, Da Vinci, and the list goes on and on.
An absolute must go!
Many impressive paintings. First time I was there I could see some famous Van Gogh drawings but the last time they were not there.
Very poor attitude from staff. I was told I am not allowed to use selfie stick and when I tried to explain that my gopro360 camera is not selfie stick they refused to listen me. Staff is very low qualified what is selfie stick and what is stick for 360 gopro camera. Need huge improvment.
Fabulous art museum! My tip to visitors is to choose a few galleries of interest and view the paintings in detail rather than hurrying around the entire National Gallery.
One of the landmarks of London that needs to be visited!
A must see museum to top up art knowledge. Iconic masterpieces on every wall. The architecture and interior design of the building blows my mind!
Great collection, thorough explanations, kind personnel
My favourite destination in whole London. May not be in the league of Louvre as said by lot of people, but since I've never been to Louvre for be its the best Art experience so far.
Who does want to do some costume research- go there. Great collections and all free
I cannot fault this as it is free entry. Many famous works on display. I got slightly confused by the numbering of the rooms and would advise a better preparation than I did to get the best out of your visit. The museum is mostly classical paintings. If you like modern art this is not the place.
Many paintings to view but very busy on the weekends and when it rains.
Puts faces to the names you've read about. Lovely cafe on top!
