Would be great to copy the idea of free museums in Spain to impulse culture among people and mainly youngs and children

Amazing especially leonardo's masterpiece and exhibition

The Gallery is amazing. Our second time visiting, first for my dad. He uses a wheelchair, and all building is accessible. He loves it! The only bad point was one only staff, who was literally kicking us out of the building at 17:30. We was already going to the exit because the Gallery closes at 18. But she was so rude that my dad who doesn't speak english was worried that something happened at the museum. Totally unnecessary.

Very beautiful paintings, upper class artists, restaurant was also very good and clean, in from holland, and this museum is a must to see.

One of the world's greatest galleries! But the cakes in the tea rooms are overpriced.

A wonderful place where you see famous artists and paintings. It is free to drop in and worth a short or long visit. Must see. At Trafalgar Square.

you could literally go here everyday and I mean it. The interior design of the building itself is amazing enough to visit. The detailed work on the ceilings are far better than the Hampton Court Palace for which you have to pay [please dont do that] ... let me not get started with the paintings - what a collection it is and then on your way out the gift shop is a perfect end to an amazing tour. it also boasts a better collection of books that most WHSmith or waterstones.

Enjoyable visit but the prices in the cafe we very expensive. Good food though!

Very busy but amazing coming face to face with some of the most famous art work in the world just for walking in off the street. Such a good experience for my little lad

A must see for many reasons. So I'll just mention one: this is a collection structured for learning about a history of art. So if you want a refresher of that amazing Art History class you took in college, or if you always wanted, but never did -- this is your ticket. Think of it as a slide show come alive, only featuring the originals. Come back a few times, join a few tours, talk to the knowledgeable staff, and your feeling for why art matters will grow in an organic, unobtrusive fashion. Surprise yourself with a passion for obscure Dutch art! or a renewed appreciation of Rubens' mastery of composition!

Loved the paintings. We went for the history and our hopes were met.

As amazing as ever. Unfortunately, masterpiece like Madonna on the Rocks by Da Vinci is almost never shown and always in maintenance.

It's a great place to go and spend an hour or so just looking at some amazing works of art. My favourite is Canaletto. It's also free which great.

The National gallery has quite a good range of classical art pieces. I fangirled many times over paintings I've seen in my arts textbooks.

Always love galleries. Great for 1700-1850 art pieces. Mostly French and European art works. Very little Greek works. They do have some Vangogh and Rembrandt painting on exhibit at the moment.

Fantastic Gauguin exhibition. The film, not to be missed! Many more aspects and information on this fierce multi-faceted painter! Fairly fluid visit too, not horribly busy as too often. Happy hours...

Such a dissapointing gallery filled with so many similar paintings from a similar era. Nothing here challenges you to think about what you're looking at. Although of course the skill is unbelievable and the talent is 100% there, everything is just a bit ok and it becomes exhausting very quickly. I left here feeling uninspired and disappointed after a fascinating trip to the Tate Modern.

Great pictures. Masterpieces are at arm's length. Free entrance. Donations are welcome.

Free to visit and has plenty to see inside. Great on a rainy afternoon. Had plenty of places to sit down and admire the art.

Sometimes the inspiration can be found outside the gallery .

We got turned away at the door for having a bag that was to big. And yet when we checked the measurements prior it was small enough.

The selection of artwork is stunning. Visited a Michaelangelo exhibition and this was amazing, friendly knowledgeable staff who can explain the paintings to you should you need. The downstaira cafe is limited for food, but there is a larger restaurant

the national gallery was very nice. the artwork was amazing of course. it is free to enter, however they ask for a small donation to help keep it free. the museum itself was beautiful with lovely ceilings and walls. however, the museum is very strict on not taking pictures even in the lobby with no art.

Love free art gallery. The square is a cool place to hang out to take a break from all the walking

Wonderful collection of European art from late medieval to late C19. Gets very busy, due to being free entry, but an opportunity to encounter an important international collection.

Very good, not too busy, the espresso bar however was very expensive! But the art was top notch.

It's very impressive to see the originals of all the famous paintings. It does get crowded in front of the very popular ones. The building is amazing too.

Amazing museum with an exceptional art collection. Tge entrance is free of charge. The National Gallery was launched in 1824 after the British government bought the collection of Russian banker John Julius Angerstein. In recent years, personalities such as Lord Sainsbury, named after the Sainsbury Wing, Lord Rothschild or Sir Paul Getty, have been major sponsors of the National Gallery. The building on Trafalgar Square was built in 1837 by William Wilkins. He had integrated the columns of the portico of the destroyed Carlton House into the facade.

Fabulous gallery with lots of famous paintings free of charge ...although a donation is always welcome . Plenty of seating and knowledgeable guides .

Great experience and free! Even my partner enjoyed it and usually he hates art galleries..the van goghs are amazing and it was great to see them close up.

Good place for art but as a Londoner a perfect place if you need to kill a few hours... would go back time and time again!

- Excellent collection of world-famous painting, superb collections of less iconic but absolutely worth getting-to-know stuff
- Excellent shop for mid or higher price gifts
- Easy to access free toilets - everyone's friend in Trafalgar Square
- Staff brilliant
- Most galleries have seating, some very comfortable places to read, watch tourists, etc
- Frequent expert talks etc mean you can often eavesdrop/tag along and learn more

When people talk about London being a world-class cultural centre, it's stuff like this that proves it. I know a place where, walking in off the street without a ticket or a queue, with minimal restrictions to what I carry and no oppressive security regime, I can see Leonardo, Titian, Van Gogh, Turner, Reubens, Rembrandt, Stubbs, Monet, Manet, Lippi... I don't have time restrictions on standing in front of pictures, there are no glass screens, everybody is polite and all the visitors appreciate their privilege. I go all the time.

Stunning collection, easy to find your way, the staff are knowledgeable and happy to talk and answer questions.

Such a beautiful place to visit... all the art work and beautiful ancient arts were safely preserved here great work...
