Amazing place one of my favourite when in London. Wandering around so many priceless pieces of history & being able to marvel at the tiniest of detail such as the hare on the line on Turners Rain, Train & Speed painting easy to miss if you don't know it is there.

Great place to see some amazing art. Worth wading through the crowds. Layout was confusing for me, but it's also because they had run out of maps that day. Still recommend you visit here when in London! You get Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh, and many others!

Beautiful architecture and beautiful paintings. The staff is helpful. I recommend looking at the paintings "Sunflowers", "Whistlejacket", and "The Arnolfini Portrait". It's so nice that admission is free.

Really quite good! One of the free to enter museums and galleries in London that never feels too crowded. Located just off Trafalgar Square, it contains multiple famous artworks including Van Goghs Sunflowers, The Fighting Temeraire, The execution of lady Jane Grey and so many others. A wing devoted to the English landscape artists of Gainsborough etc is also good.

The National Gallery is definitely one of the top 10 things to visit in London. Easy to reach on Trafalgar Square, near Covent Garden. Don't miss the Waterlily pond (Monet), The Rokeby Venus, The WhistleJacket, The Sunflowers, The Ambassadors (Holbein), Bathers at Asnieres, and a Wheatfield with cypresses.to name just a few..... Plan for at least four hours ...

Wonderful national institution..worth taking out a yearly membership, better still a joint one for a little more. Otherwise, as with any museum, the visiting exhibitions can be expensive..never worked that one out, but corporate/lender greed must come into it.
I can return time and again to see the permanent exhibitions..the masterpieces by the giants of the past never cease to inspire!

The National Gallery was beautiful with magnificent photos by famous artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, etc. The best part about it is that its FREE! However, there are no photos allowed and the employees will yell at you if you try. But te outside of it is beautiful and you can take pictures of that!

Great place to spend a day or an afternoon. A huge variety of paintings from some of the world's best artists. Great vibe and has sufficient seats for resting. Free entry but donations are recommended - it's great for education and inspiration!

Classical art gallery in the centre of London, Trafalgar Square. Free and huge collection of masterpieces, mostly classical art, but there are also famous paintings by Van Gogh and others. Recommended. There is also nicely decorated cafe inside. But the gallery is huge and one needs a lot of time to see most of it. There is nice restaurant inside. Great location.

Whatever your taste in art, you're sure to find something here which suits your "palette". Home to over 2,000 paintings, you can flit from room to room at your own leisure. Aside from the main Gallery (which incidentally is free entry), there is also the Sainsbury Wing which is where they normally hold large exhibitions and talks. I visited the Monet & Architecture exhibition here recently. There's also a shop where you can buy books on the Artists and Exhibitions, a refreshment area and plenty of seating around and about. Allocate a good part of a full day if you want to see it all!

It is a treasure chest! It has such a huge collection of art across all periods in time. I was specially impressed with the way the museum has been curated, the walls, the display shows how much of taste and labour and diligence goes into making of such immemnse collections. The gallery is absolutely free apart from the temporary exhibits. Location wise it sits right on Trafalgar Square which is a nice place to sit and just soak in the city. I loved the gift shop as well.

Mantegna, Paolo di Dono, Tiziano, Caravaggio, Antonello da Messina, Van Eijk, Fantin-Latour, Morisot, Monet, Manet, Gauguin, Cezanne, Van Gogh. Shall I add more? Yes, there are many more.
The national gallery is a precious box, an immersive experience in the entire history of art. Not to miss.

So much to see with so little time to spare at this busy monumental building. If you love looking at art and need a break from being outside and haven't been to a museum, then check their FREE exhibits. You will find the works of Leonardo Da Vinci, Degas, Monet and many more famous artist. This museum is so big, you will not be able to see the entire work in a day. When you're in London, and need to past the time, or if you just want to get out of the rain, check out this museum.

Spent the day, firstly on free tour, then quick bite in cafe (not restaurant) before lecture. We then checked out the Ruben vs Rembrandt exhibit. Finished around 4:30pm. Need to go back and see all that we missed.

This is a magical beautiful place. On your first visit you'll be overwelmed: too much to see, too much to take in. I strongly recommend the (free!) guided visit.
My advice is, once you have visited it once, if you have 20 spare minutes and you're around Trafalgar Square, just go in and sit in front of a painting, it's a magical experience.
