Amazing place, not so huge like British muzeum but full of famous painters
Close if not in the top five museums to see in a trip lasting 4.5 days. I'm sure it's up there with other great museums of it's kind
Verry nice, a lot of pictures, difficult to visit, it is a lot of rooms
Absolutely amazing range of european art from 1200-1930. One of the superlative museums in the world. A six hour visit today was quite insufficient. Brilliant!
A superb collection of paintings. Free entry, although a donation towards upkeep would be respectful.
It was a truly amazing place ! You can count 2,3 or even 4 hours if you really want to feel the art of the National Gallery! Besides, the entry is free ! You can see a vast amount of paints : from religion to autoportraits. It's truly inspiring and the ideal place for people who loves art. But even people who aren't fond of art should see it once, even the structure of the building is Worthing a museum!
The space is amazing; the permanent collection is not particularly interesting (you can do a lot better in Lon than all this religious fare).
One of my favorite museums in Europe and SA. A wonderful and diverse art collection for any art lover. Its very accessible in Trafalgar Square.
Beautiful painting and plenty of space to get around and enjoy the art.
Magnificent!!! What a wonderful exhibition of Leonardo!!!
Great food in the restaurant , a bit pricey but worth it .
Beautiful paintings and all for free! No entry fee, definitely worth a visit!
A nice gallery - they have a lot of exhibits including some Vermeer, Monet and Van Gogh.
A bit chaotic the way the rooms are organized but definitely a place to visit if you have some free time.
Great museum with lots of paintings from every era.
If you appreciate paintings you must visit here.Plenty to see from many different eras. You could spend hours here.
Free expedition. Even though crowded, not too crammed.
You can't miss visiting this place while in London. The building itself is gorgeous and the staff is friendly, well informed and - most important of all - passionate about art. It's amazing how you stumble across legendary pieces just by wandering the hallways. I haven't tried the audio guides but I heard they are really good. The info panels accompanying each work are succint and don't delve into much biographical or technical detail, which is perfect for the amateur art lover. This gallery has the world's most famous painters on permanent display and is (in my opinion) one of the best in Europe.
The collections exhibited at this gallery made quite an impression on me, a once in a lifetime experience and it's a must on your travel list.
You will find many great images. With small slices of history.
Plenty of space for viewing despite many visitors plus seats for the weary
Wonderful art gallery. Impressive range of temporary exhibitions and stunning permanent collection.
One of the glorious art museums in London. Often has creative and unusual exhibitions. Special exhibitions are ticketed, but the rest of the museum is free.
So much great works of art in one place and for free.
Very large building and without map it is very easy to get lost in meaning, you can get to spot where you was and didnt notice it. Overall great expierence!
All for free. I have to make sure that you have lots of free time
Great museum that is clearly laid out. Simple maps male it easy to find your favorite works. If you are ever in doubt, ask one of the docents stationed in practically every room.
Worth the visit definitely. Impressive selection of paintings. Unfortunately some rooms were closed. It was not too crowded despite it was Sunday. The building is also very nice to see.
Beyond fantastic. One of the best galleries in the world in terms of content and atmosphere. I have been visiting it for more than 45 years and it always feels wonderful and fresh.
One of the museums with more pictoric art in the world. A must see if you are a fan of art. Artwork from Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh and many other masters of painting are shown here. Be sure to take the day to see the whole gallery because it's gigantic.
One of the best galleries I have ever been. So many famous paintings of all times. Just amazing. I could spend the whole day there , but I had limited time.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they have nice souvenir store at the gallery.
The National Gallery is free to enter. That in itself guarantees at least 3 stars. Add to that the sheer number of paintings some from the most famous of artists and you definitely have a 4 star venue. It is an ideal place for those looking for quiet contemplation, budding artists to study the form of those who came before them, and visitors from all over to broaden their horizons with some great artwork.
The only criticism I have is more to do with the presentation of the works. It is very dry. No innovation, no short video presentation, no information other than what is on the plaque or on the audio tour. The impression is that this is the way it has always been done and always will be. It leaves the gallery with that stuffy traditional feel that makes you want to fall asleep in front of great works. Which, depending on your own views, is either a nice change of pace from the modern world or utterly boring.
Please do donate to help the upkeep of the gallery since it's free
Love this place, so fantastic examples of early 20th century works plus some fantastic carravagio's. If you renaissance or medieval art you will love the National.
Awesome museum . Pity their prejudice against skateboards in the cloakroom. I almost lost the chance to enter de museum. What's wrong with using a skateboard as mean of transportation?
Beautiful museum in a stunning building. Large collection of traditional fine art works. I would recommend to go in the morning as it can get very busy.
Fantastic selection of paintings. I liked the turners personally. Lovely venue and best of all free of charge.
The quality and quantity of artwork here, at any price, is astonishing. But... It is free! Amazing!
It is an amazing place full of art and history , not only inside , but also outside
Seeing the cultural sights while we're in the capital. I can't say enough good things about the National Gallery. Amazing place with some amazing exhibitions. Too much to see in one go!
We went to the Leonardo exhibition. It's an in depth study of one extraordinary picture: the Virgin of the Rocks. Highly recommended if you get the chance.
Old fashioned art gallery full of over rated art work
Splendid art works from the Renaissance and medieval period..
Amazing place full of artistic treasures , I came on a day trip to London from Bournemouth to visit British Library on my way this place caught my eye and by the time I was out of it, there was no time left to go to the Library:).
One of my favorite places in London. A must visit if you love art!
The Gallery is fantastic and I really admired the latest exhibition, but I found one member of staff in Lorenzo Lotto Portraits exhibition , exceptionally rude.
When I borrow a large-text booklet availible at the enter to the rooms, he impolitely decided(not pretty sure on what grounds) that I shouldn t have one because it s only for people with vision problems, which he categorically claimed ( still not sure on what grounds) I wasn t. I want to mention that I would never take anything which is not intended for me or take it if I knew there is a small amount of it and yet plenty more needy recipients, but as I discovered later there was plenty of booklets left at the exit. All that had to be done was to bring those booklets from the exit point of this exhibition and put them back to the starting point. Naturally I put that booklet back but felt really uncomfortable and ridiculed.
Well organized one way system, knowledgeable guides, nice and quiet at 11am on Tues morning.
Insanely good museum with beautiful architecture! Easy to navigate, tons of good information, and lots of beautiful art. We spent a few hours here and have visited twice. Both visits were informative and fun, so we heartily recommend stopping in even if you're not a lover of art. There's something for everyone!
The National Gallery is absolutely stunning - AND it's free! Please stop by if you're in the area.
Really beautiful museum with rooms on rooms of famous art. We talked to one the attendants and he circled which rooms had the art worth seeing. We had such a good time!
Nice artwork but the staff are quite rude there. She pushed my mom's hand harshly in the lift when she was not sure and wanted to press the floor button again
Amazing collection of art. Wonderful that it is by donation only (free)! Centuries of masterpieces to explore.
Is the best gallery in London!!
I like soo much
Such a rich collection of artistic treasures, the National Gallery should be top of the list of places to visit in London.
A wonderful collection of artwork located in the heart of London. It's free of charge to enter which makes it so much better as well!!
Wonderful atmosphere inside, in addition to the picturesque surroundings of Trafalgar Square outside
