The Metropolitan Grill Review

My wife and I have eaten at the Metropolitan Grill many times over the years and have always had a great meal served to us by excellent wait staff! We had our son with us one time and he was about 6 at the time and of course nothing on the menu looked good to him, they didn't have Mac and Cheese or Grilled Cheese Sandwiches or Happy Meals. Our waiter asked what he wanted to eat and Jimmy said that he wanted a Grilled Cheese Sandwich, they brought him out what he wanted and made him happy. I had a couple of bites of his sandwich and it was the best Grilled Cheese I had ever eaten in my life. We have gone there for special events and just because we were in the area and we have always been treated well and have never had a meal that was anything less than perfection.

The Metropolitan Grill is not an inexpensive meal by any means but, it is probably the best meal you will ever eat. Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

BEST Happy Hour downtown, must by one drink but food and drinks are and food especially is a great deal. I can't not order the burger myself

Average service, good food although it took more than an hour to arrive. Overpriced with respect to the overall experience.

The atmosphere is excellent. The courteous customer service starts at the door and only gets better. The server was extremely knowledgeable on all of the offering on the menu and a few that are not on the menu. He guided us through our selections and even helped my wife what mixed drink would go best with her choice. The food was cooked to perfection and we ate until we were completely full. Then the complimentary creme brulle was delivered to the table. We happily suffered though a few more bites of incredible food and waddled to our ride with a a great experience and two extremely full bellies. The Metropolitan Grill is not a restaurant, it is an experience that I think most people should have at least once in their lives.

This is one of the best steak houses in Seattle of not the best!

It is Glorious to dip oneself in true quality from the natural wood appeal to genuine excellence in service to a Menu full of the best. For the most of US it's a Gotta Do at least Once. For the Travelers an ICON

Food was divine and service was impeccable, I did not expect it to be so busy on a Monday night, I would recommend doing a reservation; we were a group of 8 and made reservations. Mckenzie's introduction of the menu set the tone for a delightful experience, and delighted it was. Everything on the menu was great including dessert, there is no bad decision. We will definitely be back!

Awesome old school steakhouse. This is probably the best respected local steakhouse in town. Business lunches and dinners are great here. There's nothing modern about the place, but that's ok. They're not trying to be anything they're not because they don't have to be.

Eating in Metropolitan Grill is one of the most romantic experiences in Seattle. It could be expensive, but it is definitely worth it. Wonderful steak and wonderful service!

This place has great coffee and service. The location is in a less crowded area and along a main street, so street parking (parking meter of course) is available. We wanted to try the nitro cold brew (Stumptown), since that is what everyone has been talking about. I would definitely recommend this as it was very smooth and delicious! The barista was very friendly throughout our entire time there, & even offered to take a picture for us. The interior is pretty hipster, with a brick wall, etc. But pretty small and limited outlets, so not the best place for studying. I would definitely come back to try the cortado and more sweet drinks, especially if I lived closer (they have a loyalty card!).

President's meal

I wanted a good steak and I understood the Metropolitan Grill was a place to go. With no reservations, I showed up at 6:00 on a Saturday evening. The hostess advised the restaurant was full but I could sit in the bar for dinner. That was no issue for me. I sat down and within a few minutes had a drink and was brought some nice warm sourdough bread. The waitress asked if I wanted to place an order and I advised that I was not in a hurry. I wanted to enjoy my drink and the awesome atmosphere. At 6:30 I placed my order. At 7:15 I asked the waitress to check on my order. She came back and advised that my ticket was the very next one in line. At 7:30, still waiting, a waitress delivered a full meal to a couple next to me that showed up 15 minutes after I sat down. When I saw that, I notified another waitress, not my original one, that I would pay for my drink and was leaving. She was apologetic and offered to check on my meal but I told her at that point I probably wouldn't enjoy the meal. I left without getting my Metropolitan Grill steak! I went back to my hotel and had dinner in the bar. It was a wonderful hand made burger and crunchy fries. That softened the blow somewhat of my disappointment at the "grill".

We do not have Ranch at this restaurant. *Snub face*

This is the best place in Seattle if you are just looking for an old fashioned, amazing cut of beef. The salads and sides are great, but we all know the real reason you eat here... In my humble opinion, it is hands down the best steakhouse in the city, I guarantee you will not leave here disappointed. Worth every penny. My only gripe is that it can get a little busy and sometimes the service has a hard time catching up to the load of guests in the building.

They have a really awesome Heirloom Tomato salad during the right season.

Roger took great care of me and made sure everything was perfect. He knew the menu inside and out and provided exceptional service.

Filet mignon was delicious and cooked exactly how I like it. It came with a side which is rare for upscale steakhouses like this. Lobster Mac was good but was hard to finish after a huge Caesar salad and a 13 oz filet! Pear Lemon Drop martini was wonderfully juicy and not overly sweet, tart, or sour. The carrot cake was the absolutely best part, though! Be warned - the carrot cake could easily satisfy 2 or even 3 people. I couldn't even finish half!

What exactly I would say is that it was okay. It's pricy. I am not a cheap person. And when I eat good I pay well. But this place as I think mostly charge you for location. I don't think that my friend's steak would worth 60-70 dollars. I had glass of wine and dessert and paid 40 plus tips. Plus we had gratuity because we had a room. Waiters were good. Nothing against them or any food. I just don't thing it's reasonably priced unfortunately don't want to go back again. My be happy hour. (I was told that on happy hour you can get a good meal for a reasonable price). But not for dinner. Thanks.
P.S. I don't know what's wrong with all you people. Why you leave like 4-5 stars and you not happy with price. If you don't happy show it. Let them know it's pricy. Just saying even my friend's steak could be bigger for that price. But it was nothing special. Just small peace of steak for $60-70.

Had dinner twice here, the copper river salmon was amazing. Over cooked the first night.

Love this restaurant! We went here for our 2 year anniversary. The overall feeling of the restaurant was very pleasing. The service was excellent. They were all very friendly and attentive, and I never felt like I had to flag someone down just to get any service. Then the food was incredible. We had a steak service for two where they cut the steak tableside. I can honestly say it was one of the best steaks I have ever had. Dinner was pretty pricey so its definitely not a a restaurant we go to very often, but i would highly recommend it for special occasions and we will be coming back for sure.

Metropolitan Grill's food is delicious, great selection of drinks in a variety of prices. Shout out to all the waiters & staff there -- amazing service. The atmosphere/decor are a bit old fashioned but are still well done.

Had the Friday special -- prime rib. Cooked perfectly and came with decadent mashed potatoes and green beans. Get a cup of lobster bisque and a glass of wine to make it perfect.

Over priced with a ser charge. Unless you're rich,I wouldn't recommend.

Metropolitan grille that is said to be the most delicious steakhouse in Seattle. It is full of sense of quality from the outside of the shop. The store clerks were all professional and responsive. I thought it would be a lot if it would be an American steak, but I did it because there was a menu that I could try two kinds of meat, 4 oz and 4 oz. It was a good amount. It was delicious!

mood & service is not bad. but terrible food. the steak was a salt pickle. goodbye seattle. the last memory will be awful. It has been a worse during this steak to eat. Umm 300,000 won two earlier.

I love this place. Yes, dinner is a car payment. So worth it though.

That that place sucks. Went in after work, pulled up a stool at the bar and was ignored for the next 15-20 minutes. Couldn't get a drink while both parties on either side of me were served. One of which was waiting much less than I was. Snooty atmosphere. Over priced menu. And snooty atmosphere. Did I mention snooty atmosphere? Disappointing. So close to where I work. I mentioned it to some co-workers and everyone at the federal building is wise to this place and it's snooty atmosphere. Never set foot in there again.

The best steak I have ever eaten. The preparations for two are reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. The service is absolutely fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. 5 stars is not enough.

Absolutely my most favorite restaurant. I know some will gripe that it's stuff, but duuuh, it is Seattle's landmark restaurant that attracts the local and global celebs, socialites, up-and-comers and the occasional wannabe. The entire menu is amazing. The place gets slammed so don't blame the staff for not being as attentive as one might like. By any measure their service to go along with the food and people watching is second to none in Seattle.

Yeah, we kinda love this place but save it for special occasions. Their lobster bisque is just amazing. The ambiance can range from bar\sportsy to romantic depending on where you sit. Amazing food. Excellent service.

Although it may be a bit pricy, (and I'm not a rich person by any means), you can not enjoy a better place to have an outstanding meal with excellent service. I highly recommend it.

Dinner on a Friday night...special occasion...18th wedding anniversary. Made a reservation through Open Table noting the occasion and they accommodated us with a semi-private booth where we could have a romantic evening together. Roger, our server, was top-notch and kept us both entertained and educated on our choices for dinner.

I went for the 18 oz. Top Cap and my wife had the 4 oz./4 oz. combo. Sides of Lobster Mac and Wild Mushrooms were exquisite. We also enjoyed a well-executed Wedge Salad.

I can t say enough nice things about our experience...attentive service...excellent steaks...great atmosphere. We ll be back again.

Came here for the happy hour. May be the best burger in Seattle, unbeatable price for a full sized burger and fries. Get the banana fosters if you have room for dessert. Wait staff was very attentive, and the drink menu was extensive.

I ordered the smoked salmon pasta and it was the best thing I've EVER eaten in my life. Friendly, non-intrusive staff and great atmosphere.

Great steak house. Classic style steak house great steak nice bar. Highly recommend. They know how to prepare a true Pitsbugh rare steak.

One of the most charismatic restaurants ever. As soon as you step in, you feel a tingling touch of an older era of grandioseness with a touch of humility. The staff is very well trained to make you comfortable and at peace. The somber music playing will not hurt your ears or interrupt your conversation. It might get a little loud if the place is full but you will not feel like you're in a street market. Coming to the main point, the food is above average, the chef will make you want to come back again and try something new. We had a burger and chicken fried streak. The burger was a lot better than the chicken friend steak, which was covered in more oil that I had imagined and the gravy was the only savory thing on the plate. The drinks are however solid, and does not feel like they're a shadow of the originals. Waiting for my next visit, with hope that the experience does rise up to the name.

High quality steak and service. The Met's happy hour is a ton of fun, always busy and lively, and great food/prices. The bacon cheeseburger for $6 is a tremendous value! If you opt for a sit down dinner, the Bananas Foster is delicious and quite the show, highly recommend.

Kobe steak had to be returned as unfortunately it was served well done and not as requested medium rare. 2nd was better, Service good... But quality of food declined since last time I visited.

Oh boy, now I've done it. I found a happy place for excellent steaks, not just it's glorious self, but also in a (steak) salad or sandwich . Oh and that Carrot Cake is pure evil

Excellent service, great for groups, class written all over the place. Full bar. Not cheap and worth it. Um parking is either valet or you can challenge yourself.
