If you love the classic (but not stuffy/old) steakhouse experience, service with the white coat and epic selections of meat, you must try Metropolitan Grill in downtown Seattle. I'm a Chicago transplant to the city, (and not to toot my own horn but..) I have dined in the best steakhouses in the country, and this makes my list for sure.
I have to start with the service. Bruno is a big, warm teddy bear who knows his stuff when it comes to meat - how it's farmed, raised, prepared and cooked - and will be your guide to the whole menu. Trust him, take his advice and suggestions and you will not be disappointed. It is a pleasure to dine with him.
If there are at least two men in your party who enjoy the same temperature on their steaks, ensure that they order the long-bone ribeye. It is a gorgeous piece of American Wagyu and is quite the spectacle when brought to the table. The lobster mac and cheese on the side is also a no-brainer - get it.
I started with the classic Caesar. Bruno is prepared to remove the fresh anchovy filets, but for the love of God, don't. The menu has selections of both Prime and American Wagyu, and I followed Bruno's suggestion of the side-by-side 4oz filets of each - both were totally outstanding and I don't know which I liked better. I substituted the classic potato side (roasted garlic mash, fries, or baked) that comes with each dish and opted for the roasted poblano scalloped potato and it was divine. There is of course a dessert menu full of giant cakes, but I prefer to drink my sweets, and they had a great selection of dessert wines and ports.
Overall, this was a wonderful evening out, I would recommend for special occasions for two, or a group of fun-loving carnivores. There are always a couple sommeliers circulating the restaurant as well who make great suggestions especially if you are uneducated on Washington wines - there's a fabulous selection. The signature cocktails are also enticing and top-shelf.
Come hungry!
Been here three or four times in the past several years. One visit very recent. They never cease to impress. Food is only rivaled by their service.
Not sure its worth the price but it is worth going for an experience.
We really enjoyed ourselves. Excellent restaurants. can't wait till I return.
Absolutely marvelous steak and seafood. Everything executed "par excellence".
Food was amazing!! Service was impeccable!! Not once did we need for anything while we were dining. I highly recommend this place.
Awesome stake and wine place. Must try in Seattle city
Great steaks... Dry aged bone in *anything* to good. Had the filet. Be correct on your temps as they went over for me (rare plus)... Came out medium rare plus or closer to medium. Call your temps!
I celebrated a wonderful birthday here recently. The food was flawless and service was even better.
Best steakhouse in Seattle. NEVER disappoints. The service staff is beyond professional. Thanks for another great night out!
The city's top steakhouse has a broader menu of less filling food as well. Chop salad with calamari was tasty and didn't put me under for the afternoon.
Easily one of the finest restaurants I've ever eaten at. The service is impeccable and the food is even better. The largest wine list I've ever seen, at 65+ pages long. Well worth every penny.
The food was good but the steak was a bit too salty. However, it was cooked perfectly! The fish was exceptional and the waygu meatballs are such an excellent value and by far the most delicious thing! They also had an excellent selection of wines!
I come here often for the Happy Hour. The food and drinks are outstanding and just what you'd expect from the best steakhouse in Seattle, but the Happy Hour prices are unbelievable! The service is of course impeccable also and so there is no reason not to check this place out for Happy Hour.
This is a must for dinner in Seattle. If you're in the mood for a nice, long, delicious classic steak and experience, you'd be insane to skip this place. Treat yourself, start with the bacon and finish with a ribeye. Enjoy.
The Met is a staple in Seattle. It's right up there as one of the best steakhouse's in the city, and on any given day it just may be my favorite. You'll catch yourself drooling over the NY Strip days after you visit here, and the service is everything you would expect it be.
Great food everyone should try their steak medium rare amazing
The steak was cooked to perfection and service was fantastic.
Always amazing. Bone in filet Mignon was excellent. Love the bananas foster.
Great place for steaks. Much better than Ruth Chris.
The tomahawk steak was amazing and so were the staff!!
Hot toddy was so good, especially on a cold day. Also had the ginger beer with rum which was excellent as well.
Excellent food and service. Make sure to save room for the bananas foster dessert!
Anniversary Dinner Done Right. Food, ambience wait staff and valets. Best of the best. Waiter Jim was great. Thanks for a great memories!!!!
Good food and beer! Regular price on beer during happy hour
If you have money, this is the place to go. I don't need to talk anymore. Steak is the best here in Seattle. The waiters were especially friendly and very satisfied.
Classic steak house. Steak was cooked well. Includes a side.
Really great ambiance, went for a work lunch, as a vegetarian, there wasn't much choice but the smoked vegetables sandwich was extremely filling and quite tasty. The place is clearly for steak lovers.
Great service and good food. Only downside was when the doorman referred us to a "Towncar" with a flat rate instead of a cab. It was a nasty car whose driver smoked. When my wife asked if he had been smoking in the car he said he was smoking outside. This was an obvious lie. Then we tried to roll the windows down and he says they were broken and didn't work. The experience left a bad taste and smell. Do not let them put you in the "Towncar". Also, I didn't see anything in the car that appeared that this guy even has a chauffeurs license. He didn't apologize for the stink either. I expected more from a restaurant like this. Their doormen should know better.
Ridiculous Happy Hour. Under $10 for a steak house burger and fries. SO GOOD.
Very over priced. Good for a nice date night. Went here for a company event.
Came here for New Years and had the most amazing time!!! Everything from the valets to the servers were beyond professional. One guest in our party had some very strict dietary restrictions. Our server went above and beyond to ensure that she was well taken care of by offering substitutions and options that fit with her allergies.
Everyone in our party loved their meals and couldn't stop raving about their experience. Everything was amazing but the best part of the meal was our incredible desserts to finish off the night. The Bananas Foster is something that everyone should try at least once in their life. The pieces of cake were incredible as well. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!!
This was our first time to Metropolitan Grill. Employees treated us like long-time customers and answered questions before we could think to ask them. Food was delicious and portions were generous. The carrot cake was a great recommendation by our server.
Charming and delicious....couldn't had a better piece of meat.
Roger went beyond just doing his job.
Expensive but if you want a special night out, then it's worth it. You feel like royalty. Steaks are incredible and the desserts are wonderful. I loved steakhouse chicken.
The food was delightful. I thoroughly enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and even the Brussels sprouts which I normally can't stand. The steak was done just as I ordered. The steak fries were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Also, they made an fantastic Manhattan.
My all time favorite in Seattle - just be careful with the side orders. It can be so much food to eat ;-)
Wonderful historic restaurant in downtown Seattle. Phenomenal service, great food, wonderful atmosphere.
Great place to go for lunch. Still high end prices, but great food.
Excellent atmosphere, service, and food quality. Prices are reasonable considering. Would recommend at least one visit if in the area for a group outing.
So many options
Love the concept of this place! A sports-bar like place that serves different concoctions of ginger beer - awesome! I got the Dark & Stormy and it was delicious. Unfortunately you can't take the cocktails to go, obviously, but you can get a 12 or 20 oz cup of the ginger beer to go.
It is like stepping into pop/sport culture history with all the celebrity photos. I actually heard about this restaurant on a national sports broadcasting show and was told when you're in Seattle you absolutely have to stop here... I was told correctly! The food was absolutely amazing everything tasted delicious and they are well worth their reputation. Maybe it's just the Vegas in me coming out... But the only down mark that I can give them is that when we ordered our bottle of wine our server never poured us another glass... We had to do it ourself... something I'm not used to seeing in that high end of a restaurant... But besides that it was absolutely amazing!
Steak was very expensive and not prepared as I requested.
food was amazing but the service is what makes this place stand out. This restaurant has the best service of any restaurant I've been to.
Great place. But not everything is good. I had Rib eye. Love it.
Having never eaten here before and hearing great things about the "Met" my expectations were high. The service was good, the food average not worth the $75 bacon wrapped filet with lobster, lobster was tuff and chewy, ceasar salad had to many anchovies, lobster mac-n-cheese was dry, fishy and lacked of cheese. The brussel sprouts were good but dry, many a drizzle of olive oil or maple syrup. Won't go back anytime soon.
Peppercorn steak is amazing, as well as the cheesecake
Metropolitan Grill represents the epitome of quality and service. The Met prepares the absolute best blue rare porterhouse steak that I've ever had.
Recently had lunch with family members there. Lathrop did a superb job at helping us make the selections for meals, beverages and dessert. His assistance really made the experience memorable. And the food, as always, was wonderful.
I won't presume to add much to the legions of comments about the Metropolitan Grill. It is a classic Seattle fixture and shouldn't be missed. The service, food, and ambiance are excellent and exactly what you'd want to find at a posh urban steakhouse.
under seasoned side dishes time and time again. Good entrees, great service, drinks and atmosphere though
Fabulous food and service! For sure will be back. Long bone ribeye is off the charts.
The staff was really amazing... hands down the best service I've received at a restaurant. Food was really good... I was sorta hoping for a life changing meal, but still a really good meal none-the-less.
The wagyu was hands down amazing. My girlfriend and I getting food poisoning after our anniversary dinner wasn't. They have a mandatory 20% gratuity for all party sizes now, which I've never seen anywhere before. The service was great and I always love to tip that much, but it doesn't feel like gratuity when they decide to pat themselves on the back like that. Will go elsewhere from now on.
O-M-G!!! This was my first time there and will most definitely be returning. I ordered the steak trio and it was work every single penny. It was pretty pricey, but that was the most tender, melt in your mouth steak I've ever had. Our waiter was excellent also. He was funny and had great recommendations on what to order and how to eat it. Normally in but a fan of that, but he was spot on with everything and I appreciated it. We will be back.
Amazing food and great location, if you are in Seattle this is a must!
Ordered a steak well done, it was meadium rare. They took it back and burned it. The baked potatoe was cold. This was not a good meal, but it was a very expensive one. You would think a steak house would know how to cook a steak.
Very classic old fashion steak house done well, great happy hours options
Always great service and the best happy hour burger deal in town.
Love all the upgrades after the renovation! With one of the best happy hours in the Pacific Northwest, You can feel fancy telling people you ate at 'The Met' and it only costs you 10 bucks. Come at the right time and you'll spot local celebrities like Russell Wilson sit right next you. This place must really take care of their staff because we always seem to see the same friendly staff who greets just about everyone by name and treats everyone like they are a local celebrity.
Amazing service and food. Thanks for the world class service provided!
Amazing steaks and great service, will definitely visit again.
In a hurry so we ate at the bar. Not expecting the greatest service or food at the bar we were shocked at how wrong we were! Amazing filets!!!
Service impeccable!
Excellent servers, great customer service! The roasted chicken was delicious!
