This bar and restaurant can be described as OK and nothing more really. Uninspiring selection of real ales on my visit - Adnams and St Austell. The food menu caters for a wide range of tastes and there were a number of specials available. However food is expensive for what it is - oven chips and frozen peas should not be served at the prices charged. Understand need for quick service in summer months but should price accordingly for ingredients used and standard of cooking. Was essentially Spoons-style food at restaurant prices.

Staff were very friendly and decor / layout nice with good views.

A wonderful establishment. I am so pleased we gave this place a chance. Some of the reviews I had read left me in two minds as whether the food or indeed anything about the place would be any good.
The only issue I encountered was a queue for ordering food but I was there right at the peak of the lunchtime rush so was only really to be expected and to their credit they got extra staff to serve customers as soon as they could.
The food came quickly having been freshly prepared and was absolutely delicious and very filling. There was a good range of food to choose from and everything we chose was perfect.
I would happily return here the next time I am in the area. Highly recommended.

The beer is very good, and ever changing. They are loyal to Adnams, but the guest ales are always fantastic.
The food is what you expect from a pub, and will fill any hole that you have. It's not fantastic, but for the price you pay it is worth it. If you are after a gourmet meal then pop across to the sister establishment, The Le Strange Arms.

Whilst I live locally, I rarely visit the Ancient Mariners.
I am not keen on the interior but find the outside seating at the rear rather appealing.
Great views.
Decent prices (which sometimes gave a 2 for 1 offer).

The best thing without doubt is the location. The food is average, a little unexciting on the palette and the eye.Staff took a while to acknowledge me waiting at the bar but were friendly. Seemed a very popular place so they must be doing something right but personally the food let the place down.

Food was okay, not the nicest place to go for dinner. More of a pub than a place to eat and the ordering process seemed strange whereby we had to order from the restaurant and collect drinks separately from the bar. No table service and had to explain the order a few times to make sure it was correct.a couple of blokes were being quite loud at the bar whilst my family and I were eating which wasn't enjoyable. Won't be going back.

A very popular pub right on the sea front. Great selection of food with excellent service. Located in old Hunstanton this place is probably over looked by people holidaying the main area of the Hustanton holiday park but is well worth a visit.

Out of the 6 specials on the menu, only 1 was available. Wow! The gammon was salty! The saving grace was there is a great choice of beers and drinks. Also the service was very good, just wish the food matched it.

We had a very enjoyable lamb shank plenty of nice fresh vegetables it would have got five stars if it wasn't for the fact it sounded and look like a border kennel full of wet dogs at been out in the rain. When we are trying to eat a meal not very impressed, and I'm sure trading Standards would be very interested in that if you letting dogs into your pub you should not let them be with food as being served.

Just had a lovely lunch. Very impressed with the safety measures in place. Tables sprayed after each customer, waiting staff brought food and drinks on trays for customer to take. Spaced out seating and one way system in place.

Delicious food, so so service

Delicious food, so so service

I turned up on my own (I work away a lot) and sat down at a table, then ordered food and drink at the bar, so far so good.

When food arrived I asked the waitress for another drink which immediately sent her into rabbit in headlights mode and she said I would need to order it at the bar.

So I countered with "so I need to go to the bar and order a 2nd drink whilst my dinner goes cold?
"Erm yeah" - great!

Still, food was quick to arrive and delicious when it got here.
On the plus side at least I scared her off enough to avoid the "is your food alright?" question which normally arrives when you have a mouthful of food.

It's a pub restaurant that does disappoint nor does it excel.
Atmosphere is usually quite good when there are enough bodies in there.
The food is only good value if you're a local and a half half price food voucher.
It's position overlooking a large green, the dunes and sea makes it worth a visit on a summers evening

We have used restaurant on several occasions over the last year mainly in conjunction with their dinning promotional vouchers.
On each visit we have found the food to be of a good standard with nice menu choice and served by helpful and friendly staff.
With the added bonus on clear days a great coastal views.

Had a few meals here, in high season. Staff are attentive and friendly! The decor is clean and tidy. Outside seating area very spacious and clean. The menu is well priced and the food is lovely. I recommend the "Manhattan chicken" (hunters chicken), it's very nice indeed!
