The 5 stars are for the OLD zoo picnic grounds, my favorite spot in all of LA. I've never been to the actual zoo except to park for shuttles to the Hollywood Bowl. But don't miss the old zoo area nearby....

I've been to the LA Zoo about 3 times in the last 2 months which is actually a lot considering before that it had been over 10 years. The main reason for not going all those years was due to the fact that EVERY single trash can was swarming with bees. This is not a joke. The last time I went 10 years ago before we even entered the zoo my niece got stung on the face. That was the last time we went. However, the last few times I've been, the bees are to a minimal. There still are bees here and there but not like I remember.

Really loved the zoo at minimum capacity. There was hand sanitizer stations at every attraction and dedicated enter and exits to animals. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, will definitely be going back

I've been to better zoo's in my day. The LA Zoo actually made me kind of sad. Everything was just kind of bland and the animals looked depressed. They really need to spruce the place up and make the animals happy!

It's in a very nice place in the middle of a huge park. Parking is very easy to do and is free. The entrance fee for the zoo is not too high. Within the zoo, you can get to know the fauna of each continent through continents. At the entrance we get a map that we can follow all the tracks.

Sigh....i dont really like zoos. For starters I disagree with the whole institution. Spent the day at the Los Angeles Zoo. Parking and ticketing was a breeze. Employees and volunteers were great, but were difficult to find when in need of help with exact directions to specific enclosures. Some of the restaurants were closed, but the one we found open that we ate at was clean and the food delicious. The gardens are beautiful. It's a great Zoo. Be sure to visit the Orangatans and say hello to Bruno for us!

Having been in LA for while, I can confidently say that a membership to the LA Zoo is one of the best ways you can spend your money in this city. Not only does the Zoo and it's foundation do so much good for the animals in their care, but the Zoo itself has so much more than most people take advantage of. Especially if you're a parent with children under their teens, this is a magical place to visit over and over. Can't say enough good things.

I would have given this a perfect score, if it wasn't for the lazy under staffed ticket windows. That's the only complaint I have. The rest are great experience , wonderful place to visit, to relax .Friendly staff and relaxing experience. The food are okay. The other complaint I have is how unexpectedly fast they close the lair like 30 mins before 5. Beside I am not coming back here for a long while.

I was here for the Zoo Lights during the Christmas season. The line looked frightening but it moved fast and we had a great time. Get your tickets early they do sell out and try to come before winter break for the kids and you ll avoid the crowds. Parking is free but it does fill up fast so get here early. The tunnel of lights is a must and don t forget to get your holiday drinks at by the entrance.

LA Zoo lights was great. Much smaller than the Zoo of course, but they do deck out the place beautifully. At least 4~5 great must have photo ops. This year was super cold, but thank goodness was prepped. Certain days more crowded than others. Churros expensive. Certain days certain areas are closed off even for the event as a whole.

I love the zoo, but this overall could have been a much better experience. The food made both my mother and boyfriend sick. While there is a tram to ride to the higher parts of the park, (you have to pay for it-not really a problem) but after purchasing 3 tickets for it, the tram arrived shortly after saying it could be up to an hour or more wait before it would be able to drive us. It was very inconvenient and I hope the city makes a genuine effort to make the zoo a better experience for everyone.

The zoo lights for the Xmas holiday were very disappointing I feel like it's over priced and ok top of it don't expect to see any animals they are all put away you just pay to see Xmas lights that you can see on people's houses for free would not go back for this event only for the regular zoo

We went there today at 3:50pm and they told us they were putting away animals and closing gifT shops. We had traveled from the High Desert, through the rain... with a 2 and 3 year old.
