A fine zoo where you can get up close to elephants, lions, tigers, gorillas, giraffes and other animals. Beautiful tropical landscaping. Kid friendly. Especially crowded on the weekends.
Wuau incredible a lot of distraction for your whole family
Had a great time at Roaring Nights enjoyed good music and really nice people
It was really Kool,I visited some of my cousins there
Clean, friendly staff, and the animals seem much happier than the ones at Oakland and San Francisco zoo's. And MUCH MUCH bigger!
Great zoo but they seriously need to improve their giraffes' living conditions.
Great place for a day visit. Bring comfortable shoes as there is a bit of Walking to do. If you have smaller kids you can either bring a stroller or rent one there. The shows are early in the day so plan to get there early.
Great for the kids but prices suck and for what just to see nothing half of the animals were not even there
We had a great time at the zoo during my recent friend trip to LA. Most animals were out & active, which was wonderful to see. All of the enclosures seemed adequate for each animal (I always notice this because I get upset when animals are put in pens much too small for them). A few animals were even super friendly and would come up straight to the glass to say hi. I m so glad we went and would definitely go back if in the area again.
Nice zoo with many well designed exhibits and a wide range of species to see. However large Sections of the zoo are still far out of date andHave deteriorating enclosures. Seems like progress is being made at an accelerating rate though
Great! Would reccomend visiting for the winter lights. Separate tickets and payment but very nice
Bathrooms need serious attention. I understand they're wild animals but the state of some enclosures seemed very dirty.
I need to come back because it's a good one. I can't wait to visit this place again.
Beautiful place but there was a lot of closed exhibits and many of the animals were not in their area but maybe I went at feeding time. Make sure to bring your own snack because everything is overpriced!
Fun time, great exhibits, just be ready to get a lot of exercise.
A place to enjoy with the family and more with the children. It is enjoying nature, fresh air and getting out of the monotony of the children being glued to the video game or the cell phone. Walking and meeting the animals can be fun for the little ones. In addition, the L.A zoo has a parking lot and very clean bathrooms, you will find many animals that are asleep but it is part of nature so enjoy a nice day with the family that they enjoy it.
Excellent place to take the children to conoser the animals
Quick lines and not too crowded on a Saturday. The elephants weren't out but the gorillas and tigers were cool
Really nice Zoo, wonderful exhibits and good activities during the holiday season.
Sadly not the best time had, crowded, most animals sleeping Zoo staff was cool, however forewarning, the bus/tram that can take you around the park, the warning is real - emergency vehicles will shut it down. :-(
Love the zoo! Was lucky enough to see the giant river otters being fed and hear from their keeper.
Well kept animals seem happy and very awesome. If you like zoos you have to go to this one
not worth the price if you start your visit in the afternoon. you re going to feel extremely rushed as they start putting the animals away an hour BEFORE the zoo closes. we had to run through everything, barely enjoying the animals, as we were trying to briefly glimpse everything we wanted to see before they were brought inside. there was also an escaped peacock on the loose that none of the staff seemed to know about. if you re a tourist, save your money.
It seems to me that they should charge cheaper because the truth is not much to look at I do it for my taste a little boring
I love it, inflated prices though. Bring your own drinks n food.
Decent zoo, I highly recommend going during their holiday lights festival.
Great zoo. I would try to go in the fall though rather than summer. That or at least get there right when they open.
This is one of the best and biggest zoos that I've ever been to. They have such wide variety of animals that practically you could name an animal that you've seen at a zoo before and most likely the Los Angeles Zoo will have it. I went here in the summer of 2010 when three major areas of the zoo were closed for construction: The LAIR (indoor reptile area), the elephant exhibit, and the the Rain Forest of the Americas. Despite this, I still saw more than enough animals. I was there for hours and couldn't even finish seeing everything. Some of the highlights of the zoo for me were the seals and sea lion exhibit exhibit because of the large underwater viewing, the gorilla exhibit because they have two troops in multiple viewing areas, the chimpanzees because they were performing tricks because they used to be in the circus, the koalas because you don't see these too often in zoos in America, the aviary because it feels like you're walking up the side of a mountain in a jungle, and the meerkats because you can see what them through the underground burrows. I highly recommend the LA Zoo to both locals and visitors, and if you're a zoo/animal lover this zoo is a must!
19th Annual, Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition LA River Ride
The la zoo was amazing so many animals they even have a petting Mimi zoo where you can brush goats and sheep. You can even feed a giraffe for 5 dollars
We were very excited to go with family. Although we saw a good number of animals, Unfortunately we found many of the enclosures to be depressing because they are so small for such great, large creatures.
Our kids had a great time and so did we. It was super hot and most of the animals were hidden trying to avoid the heat which is understandable, regardless the kids still loved it and enjoyed the walking and getting up close to the animals habitats. The prices for food and drinks weren t so bad, it s affordable and so is the gift shop.
Night lights are great but extremely crowded and not many animals out...
A 'Los Angeles Zoo' review, in haiku form:
Juxtaposition:
How inhumane we once were,
But now...photo shoots!
Even though it was a very crowded Sunday at the LA Zoo, the 4 hour visit was fun and interesting. We took our 4 year old grandson and he had a great time seeing the animals in each area of the zoo.
The lines at the concession stands moved quickly and many of the animals were quite active. The carousel ride was run efficiently and there are many picture opportunities.
Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and or hat/umbrella for sun protection. There was cool shade areas throughout the zoo, but it did get warm walking.
Lots of parking available and plenty of animals to see.
The park is well maintained and animals are well taken care of.
A lot of the information is available in English and in Spanish.
There are opportunities to feed some animals or learn more about them. Signage are close of this information.
There are food courts scattered around the center as well in other locations on the side of the campus itself.
The park closes at 5pm!
It's nice to see the animals without so many people
Parking was a nightmare early in the afternoon. We got there at 3:30 the second time around. Some animal exhibits were closed. But got to see Lions, giraffes, elephants and flamingos.
Great trip to go with a toddler. Have them run around and use up all of their energy
The truth was that there were more animals . I did not like
I haven't been to the LA zoo for almost 30 years and the place is absolutely spectacular! Some of the areas are closed due to COVID but the fact that the zoo kept open so parents can have a little sanity to keep their kids occupied is fantastic! $22 dollars per adult and you have to buy tickets online and pick a time to enter as they keep occupancy to code.
We arrived at 1 pm on Tuesday right at the time that school children were leaving. We got to walk around an take in the beauty and for the most part it was all to ourselves.
Much attention, care for animals and cleanliness are lacking
They've got it all. Lions, tigers and bears! But really the apes are the highlight.
Wide variety of animals, the shows/presentations always leave a reason to come back
Great place for kids. Tram for oldsters and botanists.
Love going and taking the kids to the zoo. They always have fun and the best part of the exhibit is the great apes
Great place to take children, take your own food (not worth it inside). Make sure to get a map
Very nice place and fun to spend the day with the family. You can get a yearly pass which is a really good deal if you want to keep going back.
Very nice zoo! the kids love it also the pricing is affordable.
They've definitely stepped up and made it a much nicer experience then my last visit many years ago.
