I went to the LA Zoo Xmas lights night and it was NOT WORTH A PENNY. For starters event was misleading, the amazing light show they keep on promoting it all lies, nothing captivating or any wow factor for that matter. No organization whatsoever, you couldn't find no employee anywhere to ask for assistance, but the moment they were ready to close the Zoo which by the way no where in the website States what time event was going to end, all of sudden all employees started to appear and started to tell the crowd the zoo was closed. The most disgusting thing of all is that they had even the police escorting literally pushing people out the door while they were driving the police car right behind us telling us we need to get out. People trying to take pictures by the Xmas tree and they didn't care at all. Everything was handle unprofessional and very rude. What a horrible experience! I definitely will ask for a refund!
My Hubby and I took my 77 years young Mom and we all had a Fantastic time. They have electric wheelchairs to rent for $30. for the day, it worked out great . There's a lot of walking up and down hill and it was great for her with the scooter. Loved all the Animals, the Elephants were so Amazing to watch, we also got to see feeding time for some animals great experience. Try to get there early so you have enough time to see all the animals we went around 12ish and still missed an entire side of the zoo, but we also were taking our times and enjoying the animals. We went on a Gloomy day so it wasn't that Hot, it was Perfect. You can also take you own lunch there plenty of park benches inside to sit and enjoy yourselves. Also seen a kids play ground, and seen many having a good time. Will definitely be back to see the other side of the Zoo, missed the Lions , and many more. If you're on a budget tickets are on sale on Groupon!
Excellent place to visit, some animals looked skinny
It has been a long time (I mean a very long time) since I have went to the LA Zoo and most of my life I have literally only live about 8 miles away. I was brought here when I was a child and now that I have children of my own, I decided to bring them and let them have their own experience visiting and interacting with these amazing animals. My little ones loved it and im sure for those who are reading this, I can assure you, that you and you re children/family will love it too. And if you decide to come often, buy a season pass for 4. It is definitely worth it and it will save you tons of $$$.
Cool spot to check out! Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was a few birthday parties going on in the picnic area and a music video near the animal cages. Great place for a mini photo shoot. Plenty of free parking spaces. It doesn't take long to see so I recommend hiking the trail afterwards.
Great zoo. Loved the animals there. Feeding the giraffe was cool. I would recommend people come here and see all the great beautiful animals.
Had a really fun time here with the family today! The LA Zoo does not get as much fanfare as it's neighbor to the south, and in fairness, San Diego is a bigger, better zoo. However, LA is certainly competitive enough that I would rather go here and enjoy a day rather than driving twice as far to get down to San Diego. The exhibits were fantastic, the animals were out and lively, everything was clean, and the park staff were friendly. I recommend going early or buying tickets online, or you run the risk of waiting in a 40-min long line like we did. Speaking of tickets, LA Zoo is also cheaper than San Diego. I also recommend buying lunch in the park. It was expensive, but the food was fantastic. We ate at Reggie's Grill, for the record. It is nice and sunny in the park, so pack sunscreen and water. The parking lots are small, so don't bother paying for preferred; you won't have far to walk. Come ready for a good time, you won't be disappointed!
La Zoo lights is a great place to visit with family and kids! Beautiful light displays!
Love this zoo took my daughter for the first time ... It was amazing
Wife and I just bought a membership here. Great place to visit and learn. Staff are really friendly. Really enjoyed the elephant sessions with their trainers. The new rainforest part is a must see!
1st time at the night light display dope experience. No animals more walk and talk. the carousel was dope
Fun zoo, great for kids! It is a large zoo and the exhibits are pretty spaced out so definitely prepare to walk a lot.
The staff is friendly. A lot of animals to see and learn about. Could use some help with garbage management. Trash seems to accumulate abs attract bees.
Close too early....they close at 5pm...some section closed at 4:30pm where just 5mins walking distance from the exit...
LA Zoo did a great job this year with the LA Zoo Lights. Highly recommended to pay a visit.
We had a nice time and the Zoo made sure to not have too many ppl so we were all able to maintain social distancing!
Great experience, for my kids... would have like to have seen more bears (polar) and maybe a few more areas to feed different animals. My girls loved feeding the giraffes. We will be back again. :)
We had a great time at the zoo not all the animals were there but it was a magnificent time
Great place to bring your children to see the animals!
Wide variety of animals from every continent. Also 90% of the exhibits are operating.
Drove 2 hours to go here and there s no parking? The worst place I ve ever been.
Although we had fun, the hills going into the Zoo aren't worth the walk, the team should be complimentary instead of an additional cost
Very lovely place were to spend 3-4h. Loved that there were stands with people talking about specific animal, like tarantula. But a bit cheotic with the roads. Many little ways how you can walk, so you can easily get confused where is the right direction where you want to go next.
Why drive 150 miles down to the zoo in Diego County when we have the Los Angeles zoo in our own backyard. I been to both zoos and I like both but the Los Angeles zoo has cleaner restrooms.
Nice place to bring the kids they just love seeing the animals so many to see just wish they had bigger habitats
The hippo encounter is fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. The food at Reggie's was fantastic.
Waste of money and time... All that walking around for very little to no animals... Geeesh.. Im no tourists im a native .. Cmon LA zoocould have been better..
San Diego Zoo is way better..
LA Zoo is a hidden gem. I recommend for you to take your young family members to this hilly zoo. Guaranteed that they'll be tired out from all the walking by the end of the day. There are many animals to see and if you can find where they hide, bonus points to you and your family!
Love the zoo! Family friendly and fun. Reasonable prices. Lots of wonderful animals to see. Bring a date or the entire family. Something for everyone.
Wonderful zoo, glad they have reopened. Some of the areas are closed but it is still definitely worth a visit. It was nicely socially distanced and sanitizer available everywhere.
I love animals & this iconic classic place to take your kids & give them the turn back the clock time a great heart.
It was a great experience got to see wild animals with decent price ticket; however, i have to be honest most wild animals there are old aged they have no energy to walk or jump around so kids can really enjoy.
It's a wonder full place to visit often and relaxing
Very nice, a lot to see, walk and variety of snacks ($$).
The bad thing is that we couldn't see any elephants.
Super fun, but pack a lunch if you don't want to spend a lot on food there. Take water and a lot of sunscreen.
This place is really nice . Very well organized and clean lots of animals to see from good walk there . Lots of things to do as well. The kids and adults get really entertained. You just have to chose the right day to go because when its full its gets overwhelming.
Everytime you come here you can never see the animals. You pay for a family of five and never see anything. I will never return.
So much fun!! This place has so many animals and exhibits!!
Not a wide variety of animals. Most animals are animals that can be seems at any other zoo.
The Christmas lights were so over rated. Not the best place to go see night Christmas lights. Love the zoo though. Good zoo, not good in December Christmas lights.
We loved the carousel and feeding the giraffe. Pretty Monkey heavy but a great place.
They could have more places to sit along the way to each exhibit. They always have something to see. Great parking Easy access to the freeway. Great place to visit with kids & or family.
Me & my husband we a few days ago it was great we had so much fun truly a must go to place in LA(:
I'll always love the zoo, I wish I got there sooner though. They put the big animals away earlier than closing time so I had to run to my favorites before they were gone. But it was great exercise lol
Cute cute cute I really recommend it a lot I fell in love with the place
Beautiful day at the zoo, recommended to relax viewing the fauna and the flora.
There's free parking and enough exhibits to make it difficult to see them all in one visit.
Some animals areas are too dirty a little clean up with do. Nice place to definitely enjoy a long walk of exercise more with kids 2X better.
There are more animals then I thought there and each animal had a HUGE enclosure so it feels like the animals are actually happy there.
Love the forest, and animals.the environment, specifically in fresh breezes.
Great place for kids. Highly educational. Been a fan for decades.
Christmas lights at the zoo. If you get tickets for the last session beware you only get two hours. Parking is bad at this point because the first session of people are still in the zoo and get to stay for both sessions. So if you decide to go my suggestion would be to go to the first session on the weekend so you get at least 4 hours instead of two considering it took about 30 or so minutes to get into the parking then another 15 to 20 minutes to wait for someone to pull out from the first session to park. Additionally, some areas the close done 15 minutes before closing at 10 pm. My session started at 8. I was at the zoo drive exit at 8:05 but it took 30 minutes or so to get to parking lot, then another 20 minutes to find a place to park and walk to gate it's now approximately 8:45 then the shut stuff down 15 minutes to 10. So at this point we only had an hour in the park. My suggestion would be to arrive by 7 for the 8 pm session so at least you get almost 2 hours cause the lane to get in is long but moved somewhat fast.
Lots of walking but worth it for my granddaughters.
Got my Groupon membership again this year. I love going hear to take picture by myself. I can be in and out within 1.5 hours. Of course the added benefit is the cardio. There are some hills and from the parking lot to the tigers, you've easily done about 1 mile.Just get out there and have a good time. The animals look happy and all the enclosure are appropriate. They really screwed the Jaguar over for several years. Now he has a really nice spot. The birdshow is fun. Be sure to bring a dollar so you can be the lucky person that one of the birds will steal it from. Overall it's a fun experince. Not as big as you would imagine an LA Zoo being, but it has gotten better over the years.
