All of the animals were out the day we went. The tiger was roaring his head off and my daughter was loving it. The lion area was a bit depressing though.

Love coming to the zoo with my family. The stores are a bit pricey but they ket you bring your own lunch so if you bring your own lunch you have that wiggke room to go to the minnie store and get the kiddos something. Friendly employees and are very knowledgeable. I always leave knowing something more.
The tickets were super expensive and there wasn't anything cool there, the lions were sleeping the white tigers weren't there I will not go back there any time soon
It's a very clean zoo. The staff is friendly and are great at giving directions. Alot of the animals are sleeping and look sickly, but over all it's nice to see all the different animals. My favorite part was feeding the giraffes!
A great and fun zoo. Large location with lots of animal exhibits.
I take my son once a week, and it's always a great experience...never crowded during the week, even with the school field trips in the mornings. I love all of the animals, but my favorite exhibits are the elephants, giant river otters, gorillas and chimpanzees.
Had a great time with my god child. Always fun and enjoyable.
LA Zoo is starting to show its age and indirectional business approach. It needs to decide if it needs to be a top tier zoo competing against the best in the nation or eliminate some of the animals and halve the admission price. It's occupying a prime location, but not maintaining it well. Staff has lost its enthusiasm. Some of the points of sale can definitely be automated. Direction signs and other markings need enhancement. Walking surfaces in some areas need complete repaving and not resurfacing. Make going to the zoo cool (again) for children to want to come here
Been here numerous times and my little one loves it. They have a good amount of animals and the volunteers know a lot of information.
You pay extra to feed the giraffes (cash only) and go on the carousel me.
Parking is free.
Food isn't insanely priced, but what you expect.
I've never seen the elephants with as many times as we've gone. But the other animals are usually out.
It's great to go when they first open, not too many people and a lot of the animals are active.
The Los Angeles Zoo is still the great place I remember visiting as a kid. Ti experience it now with my wife and boys makes it even more special. There are some restrictions and limitations due to the Covid world we currently live in. We had plenty to see and enjoy and had a great day visiting the beautiful wildlife.
Very frustrated!!! I purchased tickets to the Zoo for 9/9/20 for my daughters, grandchildren and me. We had such a wonderful time that I decided to purchase two memberships. What was NOT told to me is how a membership admission differs from a daily paid admission. To sum it up, there is ONE day (actually it was really a few hours) to make a reservation for the following month. Hence, we can not visit the zoo any day in October or November as all the slots are full. General admission is open of course.
Not worth the price of admission. There are empty cages everywhere you look and the place looks like a condemned building.
Hadn't been there in years..great fun..majestic animals although elephants were not out...love supporting wild life!!
One of my favorite zoos. The new and renovated exhibits are just beautiful. The zoo staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Admission is a bit pricey unless you find a coupon.
love animals. wish they invested alittle more into the zoo. it looks like kinda run down
The zoo is amazing. You have so many animals to look at. The sad part is, many of the animals are not happy because they are encaged and prefer to be in the wild
Lovely zoo a lot of great large enclosures, the animals seem happy, theres a lot of additional wildlife at the zoo. Seen hummingbirds, geckos and a golden eagle. Nice break from the business of the city! Great gift shop!
Is really fun and there's a lot of activities during the day
Had a wonderful time at this lovely zoo. Would definitely recommend!
I brought a season pass membership and by the end of my visit, I've requested and got a refund. I'm a HUGE animal lover and most of the animals at this zoo looked either depressed were asleep. I am not sure if they were sedated or dehydrated but this is the worst zoo I've been too.
Thanks to the Public Library Discover & Go program we spent a rainy afternoon at the zoo. A good amount of the animals were not out, but taking it as an excuse to go back when the weather is warmer. We had a great time and the animals we did see were amazing. The chimpanzees were our favorite!
Feeding the giraffe was my favorite part! Worth the money! So fun!
Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely great experience for $20/person. I would say it was a good experience. They have a wide variety of animals like: lions, tiger, koalas (check out a baby one on a mother's back!), lots of monkeys, zebras, giraffes, gorillas, chimps, rhinos, hippos, maybe even catch your ex in a cage (haha?). Caution: depending on the bathroom you go to, some of them are pretty gross. Also, food is expensive (as expected though - $3.99 for a churro </3). And no pandas like SD Zoo.
Btw, the answer is protect!
This zoo has a good variety af animals to see with interesting information to learn about them. Lots of bathrooms and spots to get water or a snack.
Nice to go on a weekday. It's not so crazy like it is on the weekend. We loved it here and our little one could run around Freely as he please.
Animals looked sad cages too small for some n for others too big only ones to enjoy life were the otters zoo grill closing n just waiting for us to leave 2 hours before closing bird show boring San Diego zoo way better
You need a little more signage, but all very beautiful there are many areas to rest. If you are wearing blocker with very comfortable clothes without forgetting a lot of water.
This has always been one of my favorite zoos whenever we are passing through. I almost like it more than the San Diego zoo and it is worth the stop. Easy to view enclosures are elaborate. The only unfortunate thing is I always seem to miss the great apes because they likely get put away early in the day. Don't pass this one up on your trip, a bit more unique than other zoos and you will definitely have a nice time. Can also check out coupons online including groupon
It is a nice zoo, but kind of small and organized strangely.
Lots of up hill walking! Really fun times and lots to see.
We went for 2nd time , I expected more about the zoo but not, it is very sad we saw the animal barely. all of them look so slow, tired, and unhealthy , the zoo and general is too dry not to much green areas , hope care more about it.
We did a personal cart tour, it was better than expected. Really felt more knowledgeable about all of the animals and their caretakers, we look forwars to returning many times...with a picnic lunch because the food sucks. The best part is that it exhausts the little ones. Score for mom!
I went to the zoo to see all the animals, but all the animals look sick , very sad .
My daughter really likes their playground and carousel.
Fun if you're an enthusiast of all things abandoned
My favorite section was Chimpanzees of the Mahale Mountains. It is not because they show playful dances or comical actions but because they occasionally fight in groups, making all weird and silly sounds, hitting metal doors, and throwing stones and fruits to each other. The tension is actually very intense that people (us, audience) sometimes feel uneasy. Their fight occurs from afar, so don t worry. No animal in this zoo exhibit such intense actions like these monkeys. Because of this, entrance tickets are worth every penny.
My children were fascinated with the place very nice place
It's our first time to use the family membership card with one guest today .
This review is for a Ticket Inspector at the Membership entrance on February 7, 2018, around 1:19pm.
He is a white young man of medium height. Although I don't have his name, he is Very rude and mean.
Just because I supposed that the membership card included a one time guest pass, but this man used a very rude way to let us know the difference between the family membership and the Family Deluxe membership. I rarely give reviews, but I don't want others to suffer the same.
Next time, if your customer don't know your membership policy, please be nice to explain. After your patient explanations, your customer will Upgrade the Membership directly. But this young man made my guest Even want to go back to home. At last, we decided to buy one Senior ticket to end his loud voice.
It was awfully discouraging.
The LA Zoo is home to over 1,000 animals and is easily more than 100 acres big, so there are plenty of animals to see and a lot of walking to do. Some of the animals that call the LA Zoo their home are lions, tigers, elephants, gorillas, koalas, jaguars, chimpanzees, giraffes, Komodo dragons, orangutans, hippopotamus, and an Indian rhinoceros. They recently opened their "Rainforest of the Americas" section and it is a must see! There have been many improvements done to the LA Zoo over the years, which will enhance your experience when seeing these animals. If you enjoy seeing reptiles and amphibians, you will definitely want to stop by and visit "The LAIR" and see all the different types of such animals. In additional to just housing exotic animals, the LA Zoo also has a safari shuttle, carousel, playground, petting zoo, and theaters. Additionally, the LA Zoo hosts many different types of events throughout the year in order to enhance the experience for adults and children. I highly recommend that you check out the LA Zoo!
We had a great time at the LA Zoo night time lights extravaganza.
Great for kids! Not very big and closes early. Lots of shaded resting areas!
It had been a while since I had come to visit. I'm glad most animals were out and doing things. Perfect day we spent during my kids spring break. I was a little saddened that some restaurants were closed inside and others lines were so long. But other than that had a great experience. Definitely will be coming back.
LA Zoo is nice, good place to take your kids and see the animals, we had a great time
It's a nice zoo and they are always improving things
It was awesome, we went for my daughters TK field trip and she and her classmates had a lot of fun!!
We had a really good time at the zoo lots to see really fun good food you're allowed to bring your own drinks if you want to also there is plenty of things to see I recommend going on a weekday it's not so crowded be ready to do quite a bit of walking It's a Long Way in between exhibits also there's not very many places to sit down and rest you can also schedule private viewings and they have shows at certain times of the day that are posted with signs
I love the zoo. It's my most favorite place. I won't go to zoos that are bad for the animals so it limits where I can go but for ever year I go to the SD zoo for my birthday, this year I couldn't make it so my husband took me to the LA Zoo and I wasn't disappointed. I could actually write a small book about how amazing this zoo was. It was the perfect way to celebrate life and trying to improve things. I hope that if you get a chance you go to the zoo and learn some of the amazing things I did. Even in 80 degree weather this trip was worth it. Thank you
Get there early
Went to the zoo lights, it was worth it. My advice would be to get there early because you will have to form a line to get in
The water show was awesome!!! Even my teen kids like all the light's.
