Had a great time with my daughter. So much to see and it's not too crowded. Lovely scenery.

Always a great place to have a wonderful time with one's family.
The LA Zoo has just reopened and it's actually a great experience with only a few closed exhibits. The smaller crowds make for easier viewing of animals and overall a calmer experience. There are some go-to features that are closed, not as many food stops and some round about viewing areas that you'll need to see from a far. There's plenty of hand sanitizer stations, and for the most part everyone is respectful about keeping their distance. At least locals are.
They have hippo encounter that is pretty unique and cool to any zoo in the usa. They have ample parking. Perfect time to visit is during the week when there is no long lines or kids or buses. They have a wide array of animals from many different continents. Close to armenian restaurant where kim kardashian eats. $21 general admission and there is also a discount for military or triple A members. Great family fun. Also flamingo interactive experience for $25.
Each and every time that we drive to Half Moon Bay along Hwy 92, we see all of the happy faces at Lemos Farm. However, this is decidedly a place for kids. Since I have no kids, I had no reason to go.
Nice place to Visit with kids but please avoid hot afternoon as you won't get to see animals they are resting in shades and walking with kids in hot afternoon becomes very difficult.
The only Zoo in LA county. This zoo has come a long way. When I was a kid, it was a major dissapointment. Now, I bring my kids frequently. We have a family membership so we come frequently. If you are a family of 4 and up I would recommend just getting the membership. I think it pays for itself if you go twice. It definitely does not beat the San Diego Zoo but my kids still love it. They do a lot of conservation work and I can get behind that. Many argue that the zoo is a sad place that supports animals to be in captivity. But what they don't realize is that many of the animals were rescues and/or were born in captivity and not capable of living in the wild. Zoos have been responsible of bringing back population of endangered animals in many cases. Please support them! :)
We went with our kids and grandkids had a very fun day
Such a fun and easy way to spend time with the littles!
Nice big clean place to bring kids or significant. Food price is reasonable and taste good.
The parking can be a total nightmare. We've gone in the past and had to leave because we couldn't find a parking space.
Reasonably priced. Good food. Various different experiences.
Rainiest day in LA ever & I loved it because I dressed for the wet!
We had an event here & stayed to enjoy the zoo despite the storm.
My family and I enjoyed our time in LAZ. The meerkats were a riot.
Good place with wide spaces and good variety of animals.
Its a very old zoo and it shows. The Oakland and San Francisco Zoo are much cleaner and well maintained. The only thing thing I experienced was the food at one of the restaurants.
It was awesome my and my 10 month old son first time
If you think you'll visit twice in a year, buy a membership to save a little money. And why wouldn't you go often? It a great place to get some fresh air and exercise, see some wild animals, support conservation efforts, and eat the best kettle corn in LA. There's even a park for little ones to burn some energy.
Love it: Me and my husband and the kids love going here and spend some time together as a family. We love to get the membership so it could be easier to go in the zoo. If u want to spend some time together as a family this is the place to come.
I wish they have pandas there because my little princes loves them.
Classic Angelino pastime. Fun for the whole family. Make sure to go early to avoid huge crowds/traffic.
Even for a packed day it was awesome. Just wish people would watch their kids a bit better. A lot of wanderers and kids hitting and being disrespectful. Use Groupon for cheaper tickets. I paid a littler under,, $60 for 4 tickets
I Remember the zoo use to be $8 for a adult and the animals were much more impressive . Lack of animals in there homes and the ones that were looked starved and deppressed . I brought my sons and 3 year old daughter and I must say it was very Disappointing . We will probably just take the drive to san diego next time we want a zoo day .
Everything is expensive, but the whole place is beautiful.
Great for animals and people looking for something to do
Lots of walking, but we'll worth it. Large variety of animals.
I used to love going around the zoo, but for the last couple of years, my focus has been elephants, feeding giraffes and the merry-go-round, ice cream and then usually out the door. This is the combo of having 3 y.o. twins and hot days. Great place for my daughters and as they get older, I look forward to spending more time in the zoo with them.
It was a beautiful experience because I was with my daughters and grandchildren
This was my first time to the LA Zoo.. it was nice.. considering I went on a holiday (stay at home mom problems.. LOL) i did like being able to bring in my own food.. so that saved us money.. they also provide a military disc.. if you think your kids may want to attend regularly.. totally worth checking out the annual pass thing
So many animals! Great place for walking, had a nice time
This place is so cool. I highly recommend coming the winter time light nights they have in the gardens. Its amazing. It looks like something out of this world and in the world of Pandora (from the movie avatar) when everything is glowing at night.
Had an amazing time feeding time is always the best time to visit the zoo.
Fantastic Zoo!
well maintained and the species are really cool to watch
Must visit place for kids and families.
Membership is very affordable. Great place for a nice day trip.
Save your money! We spent the get in $74 just for 2 kids and my husband, place was dirty! Restroom disgusting! Papers and trash everywhere! You have to walk a lot to get to one place and the other which makes it seem HUGE but they don t have many animals! Too much people for NOTHING... never going back! Visiting from Texas and for nothing!
Love that place it's really big a bit expensive but if it goes for the animal it's all good
We had a good experience and we went on a very hot day. I would advise to go on a cooler day because it is a lot of walking. Overall, staff is friendly and my son enjoyed his visit.
Family friendly and staff is always kind and informative. Very affordable yearly membership makes this an ideal weekly destination.
Zoo has instituted significant covid measures! Good for them.
Nice place for families. It has a playground. And a couple of nice souvenir shops
I'm so happy. Today we visited Los Angeles light ( A Wild Wonderland of light ) . There was amazing light show. My son is happy.
Glowing animals welcome you on an unforgettable nighttime journey that includes giant illuminated snowflakes, a disco ball forest, a whimsical herd of animated elephants, and a twinkling tunnel filled with dynamic swirls of color. L.A. Zoo Lights is a not-to-be-missed nighttime holiday light experience and has glowed brighter each year since its debut in 2014.
Great zoo. Friendly staff. Wonderful animals...especially baby Rosie the hippo.
Not as pretty as SD zoo, the shuttle is awful. But they have a nice playground and its a good walking day. Very family friendly
Drinking water or drinks in the zoo is too expensive!
My 7 and 4 year old children loved it .. they had a lot of fun. My wife and I enjoyed it equally. It was a beautiful day!!
Very nice I like it very much you can cook your own food and it also helps you to walk with the family.
This place is the reason I fell in love with animals as a kid and the reason. I work to save them today
A cheap ripoff of lightshows. But my biggest issue is with the massive lack of human traffic flow organization.
Must say I felt empathy for the animals in that upon entry to the zoo there was a lone seal obviously in distress, lonely or such. He is blind and it's doubtful that his life is very good.
It was cold so all the interesting animals were sleeping. It should be free these days.
Blessings. Very. Nice. And confortable. Beautiful. Place
Season tickets, just wish the lion space was larger, feel bad for those big cats. Daughter loves the zoo
Great way to spend half a day! Had a late flight out of LAX. Could not check in until 6 PM. Needed something to do from time checking out if hotel until flight. After a leasurly breakfast hit the freeway. Was easy to find. Before checking out of hotel found a brochure for Zoo which had $2.00 off per adult. Price for adults is $22.00. not a bad price.
Unlike many places, this zoo does not check your bags or prohibit be you from bringing your own food or snacks. Do bring your own or at least a bottle of water. You can refill at drinking fountain. Otherwise at vending machines expect to pay close to $4 for water or Gatorade.
Strollers, wheelchairs and scooters can all be rented. I saw many families using wagons. Be warned: there are many hills to climb and it gets hot fast. Come early if possible. There is a bus pass that you can get to take you to different stops around the park. Price is currently $5 per adult. We did not have any kids, so I did not check prices.
Although many of the animals were sleeping, we still saw quite a few. Visiting the zoo is a way better alternative to sitting at the airport watching the clock. It's been many years since we last visited a zoo. I'm happy they are longer just in cages. We would definitely go again. Also, if you will be in the area for several days, check out the combined Zoo and Aquarium of the Pacific package. Might be a good way to save can some money!
Nice holiday themed events and crafts throughout the year.
Almost all restaurants were closed when I went. Found a cafe to grab a dry sandwich and some carrots for $10. Pack a lunch or eat before hand.
