The LA Zoo is home to over 1,000 animals and is easily more than 100 acres big, so there are plenty of animals to see and a lot of walking to do. Some of the animals that call the LA Zoo their home are lions, tigers, elephants, gorillas, koalas, jaguars, chimpanzees, giraffes, Komodo dragons, orangutans, hippopotamus, and an Indian rhinoceros. They recently opened their "Rainforest of the Americas" section and it is a must see! There have been many improvements done to the LA Zoo over the years, which will enhance your experience when seeing these animals. If you enjoy seeing reptiles and amphibians, you will definitely want to stop by and visit "The LAIR" and see all the different types of such animals. In additional to just housing exotic animals, the LA Zoo also has a safari shuttle, carousel, playground, petting zoo, and theaters.
