I have always loved the L.A. Zoo. They've really expanded the great ape enclosures and there is always so much to see. Unfortunately, a lot of things are closed right now, but most of the animal exhibits are open and a few of the eateries throughout the park. You do have to buy in advance to reserve to visit time slot, so plan ahead. For new comers, be prepared to walk or take the tram; the majority of the park is built into the hills and mountain so it an uphill walk to get to the furthest exhibits in the back. We took the tram to the top/back and walked downhill to the exit.

California Condor "Hope" was worth the $23 zoo admission (World of Birds Show- free). One of the rarest birds in the world. Hope is not at every show but she was the day I was there. Very special experience.

My family enjoyed the LA Zoo very much. We saw some cool enrichment activities with the elephants, and the monkeys were a riot to watch. Our lunch food service at a burger stand was pretty slow, but we managed. Overall a nice way to spend some or all of a day.

I went to the Zoo Lights preview days which was worth the $12 per person we spent. It is a bit of a walk up and down and around but most of the zoo is closed so it's not as long as during the day. We actually got to see some animals too. The tunnel of lights and laser water show are beautiful.

For a small Zoo it was fun. All the staff were polite and informative. Best food at Reggie's! The Black Bean Burger was absolutely delicious!! The French Fries were piping hot & fresh..... GREAT DAY... good parking and not a pricey entrance fee.

So happy with the steps the LA Zoo is taking to make my family feel safe! I was so excited to finally get out of my house and have fun. There is a line to get in but it goes by fast and is worth it to not have the zoo feel crowded. Also everyone is required to wear masks. We were glad to see the Zoo Grill was open too (and even had canned beer and boxed milk). Our 1 year old daughter loved looking at the animals! It was so nice we ended up buying a membership! We will be back next week!

I took my family here for thanksgiving...the facilities are sub par but the zoo exhibits some of the rarest animals I've seen. Be sure to take an elephant ride and don't leave without visiting the zebra circus show!!!

I made a point of going second half of the day, got there around 2 to 30. Pay the $10 for the valet parking it's worth it. Kids loved it, the tram is a bargain especially if your senior citizen the kids are young. Goes all the way around the zoo in a loop and as five different stop so you can get on and off at any place in the zoo all day long. It was great. The baby giraffe is very cool. Not sure about the food, the hamburgers have been sitting under the infrared on the Buns were stale, ice cream and pizzas probably the best bet.

We went just to finally get out of the house and see some scenery in a safe way, and this did not disappoint. We love zoos-especially to do some amateur photography, and this is the closest zoo to us. It's a pretty normal, average zoo with some newer and some older enclosures, but you can still tell the animals are well taken care of.
The area is super hilly, so if you have a bad time walking (I walk with a cane), I suggest a motorized wheelchair or the tram if it's going (use the playground stop or the tram stop after that one to be generally going downhill then use the Australia stop to get back to the exit).
They have timed ticketing, all the circle exhibits blocked off so you can't go in (because they are too close but you can still peek in), some one-way-only, some food stalls and indoor reptile house closed, and a mask mandate for Covid-19 restrictions, but in all, you still get to see the majority of animals and definitely the favorites.

The zoo is absolutely wonderful!
Unfortunately, the guest services, specifically under management of Robert, are absolutely horrible. He makes women and children wait in line in the heat, while more comfortable front area is empty.
No effort was made to let people wait in the shaded area upfront (keeping 6 feet apart of-course). Robert is absolutely unfit for the job as he s lacking customer service skills and doesn t understand the basic needs of his main customers...

We try to visit the zoo in every new city that we discover. The way that the LA Zoo is laid out, with the small paths in between the different areas, brought it straight to the top of our most favorite Zoos. We loved especially the bird show and the explanation about the otter.

Had a good time, had not been there in 13 yrs. Reservations required right now, & can't complain it wasn't crowded. Hand sanitizer stations in almost every corner. Clean restrooms. The lions, rhinos, & hippos weren't there...perhaps they got temporarily relocated due to the pandemic? An employee informed me the zoo is planning to renovate the lion's exhibit - make it bigger. Which makes me happy I do wish they could get the funding to enlarge all of the bigger animals' exhibits, including the tiger. Perhaps they'll be more active that way. Felt good to visit & support the zoo. Please visit & support them, do it for the beautiful animals.

This is a review for the L.A. Zoo Lights Only.

I must say, expectations are high when coming here and the deliverance is next to mediocre. First of the price is just far to high for the minimal amount of lights they place, in all honesty the best part of the display is in the back at the very end of the walk. Kids may enjoy it more than adults, but as a parent you will not be satisfied. Another thing is the wording on the brochure of the walk, it states things like dancing elephants, snowboarding Iguanas, Disco ball bash. All things to make you excited for what lies ahead, instead you get this - 2 4ft neon light elephants with music in the back, No Iguanas and no snowboarding and lastly about 4 disco balls handing in a random place... stay away, go elsewhere, trust me, you'll thank me next year

Visited during their LA Zoo Nights. Got tickets online. Beautiful lights and decorations. Even though most animals are sleeping, it was a fun place to spend a warm November evening. There's a beautiful Christmas tree at the entrance and the music puts you in the holiday spirit.

Love the zoo! Covid requires a reservation and many of the food vendors are closed, but the Zoo is managing social distancing well and the Animals are still clearly visible despite changes to viewing areas at many of the habitats. By the way, still some of the best fries and chicken tenders in LA!
