My family lives about 10 minutes from the LA Zoo so with a 2 year old it was a no brainier to get the Family Deluxe membership. My daughter and I go for a couple of hours on Saturdays to see all of her favorite animals (and to give mommy a little break). We love how close the encounters are and that the animals are outside so frequently with the constant great weather and lots of tree coverage. It is very well connected to jump around from area to area. Grab a map if you don't know your way around but it's definitely worth the modest price of admission.

Biggest complaint we had was that a lot of animals weren't in their areas. My son had been so excited to see the lion and he wasn't there. I mostly prefer the San Diego Safari Park to see animals because it seems they have more space and they live in a more natural habitat.

This is a small slice of heaven just above Glendale is a GREAT place to go on a spring or summer Sunday morning or afternoon to collect one's self and spend time away from silicon based entertainment (internet). There is a wonderful Japanese garden with pools of coy fish, a lake that is temporary home to a wonderful assortment of migratory birds, a rosarium and stage performances and music. I especially like this Passover/Pascal time of year with all the huge varieties of lilies in bloom.

This place is wonderful! We're members and we love taking a weekend stroll through the park. We come almost twice a month. I love hanging out with Ranger the bear, my spirit animal. All the employees/volunteers/keepers here are very friendly and helpful. We recommend coming in the winter time, we've noticed all the animals seem more active so you get to see their silly behavior. Thank you for helping take care of these wonderful creatures of the world.

Really cool zoo. Took my brother and some other cousins with us over the weekend. A few of the exhibits were closed, so that was a little disappointing. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking involved.

Our first time here. It's a very big zoo. Lots of things to seem Alot of area to walk through. If you have children I recommend bringing a stroller and some drinks. The drinks and bottled juices are pretty expensive $7 for bottled water and even a children's size sandwich meal is $7.99 was very small. Prices are more expensive then the fair. When we went the gorillas wasn't out and there was alot of up hill walking as well. Over all it was a big size zoo with a jungle looking feel to it and they set up areas to make it look realistic. There wasn't many benches though to seat and take brakes. I was a nice zoo and helpful zoo workers there to help.

Really great zoo! Lots of really cool animals. The only problem is the elephants are separated so it's sad to see since they are such social animals. But I really like the way the so is organized by area

I had so much fun coming here! We came here to celebrate our anniversary. It was so hot!! I do wish that the Zoo had more shaded areas and maybe a nice mister for hot days. But I loved watching the cute sea lions! It was amazing to feed the Giraffes! But my favorite part by far was the getting to mingle with the flamingos!! You pay $25 per person and you go in and sit down with them. There are zoo attendants in with you and talk to you and answer all your questions. We feed them krill that is inside of a long cup. You get to be interacting with these beautiful flamingos for 25 minutes!! Their necks are incredibly soft. The attendants were very knowledgeable and told us that these flamingos were named after the Harry Potter characters. The zoo was a lot of fun. I definitely want to come back.

Went to the LA Zoo night lights and have to say it was better then I anticipated. Family and I attended the zoo during the day and bought tickets for the Night Lights. Night Lights is extremely well priced if you already have a zoo membership. Lots of lights to see in a unique way to see them. Very well set up for families or the date night. Lots of food, hot chocolate and alcohol stops along the walk. You get to see some animals and lots of lights. The twinkle tunnel is a must do. When you go be sure to do the early showing, it gives you more time to see the lights. My only negative is it is very crowded so do not plan on rushing through, plan to take two hours to view everything. Really great opportunity for all ages!

We always love zoos. This one is also a great one for a family trip! Their restrooms were clean, staffs were nice. The only complaint we had was that they don t make it easy to find directions. Anyway, we had a good time there!

It s always tons of fun visiting the LA Zoo! They have a great expansive layout for seeing all their animals and plenty of parking for even those busier days. They also have good conservation programs for some of the more endangered animals, and don t forget LA Zoo Lights during the holidays! Overall a good place to visit for a day or as often as you can to see all they have to offer.

This is what you get when a zoo goes Hollywood. There's lots of over the top staging that really doesn't add much fo the experience, and you are required to walk through way too much merchandising before you really see animals. The enclosures seemed to be well maintained with a decent effort to give the animals engaging activities. Guests with mobility challenges should be aware that there are lots of changes in elevation (some seemed pretty steep) and you're going to get a workout, even though the zoo has clearly made a concerted effort to have ramps available. My last thought, knowing how much zoos need to fund raise to remain viable - did you really need to spend so much to have an entrance that looks like it's suffering from Jurasic Park envy?

Visited the zoo, wasn't disappointed!! Animal enclosures were kept and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Only real downside is the price for a bottle of water, but if it's going to animal conservation I'm all in.

Great zoo!

Went to the zoo with my wife and two kids aged 1 and 3 on a Monday mid August. Crowds were pleasantly light.
Although hilly it was still easy to push a stroller around and the enclosures are easy to view.
Plenty of things for small kids to see and do and be involved in.
Food was quite ok with pricing not to bad. You could save a few bucks and bring your own.
Only animals we didn't see were nocturnal, but we spent 5 hours here and thought it was a great zoo.
