The Essence Suites Review

I will not recommend this place to any of my friends or family, it needs alot of attention, the staff was rude at my arrival they couldn t find my reservation because they wrote my name wrong , my room had mold starting to build up in the bathroom , some areas the ceiling is falling off , broken glass by the bed , missing screws on the switches, water leaking all night long from sink faucet. And the price did not meet my expectations. I should of just went to sybaris suites THAT IS A TRULY AMAZING CLEAN UPGRADED PLACE . . Oh while i was at check in there was another client on the phone calling about the fireplace knob not working , truly disappointed.. i should if got a full refund

HORRIBLE PLACE!!!!! Do not even think about staying here. I never take the time to write reviews but this time I had to.
We reserved a room in this place and the room was extremely filthy. There was a lot of dust and it seemed like the room had not been cleaned in a long time. There was a spider near the bed; the bathtub looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. The shower appeared to have urine stains (please see photos attached) and also a small puddle with a strong urine odor. The ceiling was cracking and the mirror was falling in small pieces. The bed had yellow stains which can be from urine or over use, either way I didn't want to find out. There is mold by the shower which just comes from lack of cleanliness. We saw a small bug when I opened a drawer in the kitchenette and at that point I returned the room and left that place. Someone needs to inspect this building and make sure it is up to code. I do have photos of the mold in the room, as well as the ceiling that is falling. It does not look nothing like the photos they have online. The mirrors were cracked and dirty.
The worst part of it all is that Jay the manager was very smug and had a bad attitude. He did call me 2 days later and he said "sorry, I know the customer is always right" which I replied to him "that is not the truth, customers can be wrong, but this time I had photos to prove that the room was disgusting" However he did not have any intentions of fixing their mistake (having a dirty room). His employee had a better attitude, and when I showed him the pictures of the room he sincerely APOLOGIZED for giving us a dirty room. It wasn't until I told Jay that I wanted a refund or else I would make this go public and put the pictures on yelp, and report him to BBB that he said he would give me a discount on a room if I decided to go back. I told him no thanks.
If you want a romantic night, do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else!!! Totally not worth the money they charge.

First off the room is pretty I didn't like my stay because me and my guy had to kill bugs the little time i was there I took pictures of the damn bugs i left after 3 hrs and they going to try and offer me another room not going to happen i will never go back to the ESSENCE SUITES for the price i paid it was to much to be fighting with bugs I'm pissed

False advertising! Room is small and cramped. Whirlpool was dirty and the entire property is run down and not worth the money we paid. I will never come here again. My birthday was ruined by a dirty rundown highly priced hotel room. Go see before renting you will not stay.

Booked a room over three months in advance of Valentine's day. Planned the perfect day for me and my wife. Then a month and a half before the special day I got my rate over doubled for the same room. Went from $195-400. Absolutely ridiculous business practice gouging people for Valentine's day. I will never do business with such a shady company every again and furthermore I will go out of my way to tell everyone how horrid this company is. Now I'm sure all of the good places are already taken.

Just checked in the room January 25th 10:30 great assistant manager she was cool got in the room to relax try to turn on Bluetooth speaker switch did not work cause front desk asked to switch room some mail now working customer service told us we didn't know what we were doing with the Bluetooth speaker came off very rude to me and my wife did not want to switch room for us until he was able to come check the speaker for himself he insisted the two college grad didn't know what they were doing with a Bluetooth speaker came off very rude I spent over $200 to have no music in the room waste of money all we asked was to switch a room due to Corona we did not want someone coming in the room to check a speaker that my six-year-old daughter can work all we wanted to do was to be switched into another room customer service sucks need new overnight help

Nice gorgeous room! Customer service excellent, anything that my husband and I needed they were there to cater to our every need.

I never wanted to leave! Amazing place, staff was super nice and attentive and the suite was a dream. My boyfriend and I loved the extra touches in the room and I personally liked that there was a regular shower included as well. It's close to everything you need or want in the area and I never wanted the weekend to end. Will definitely be back soon. Magical place.

I took my husband here for our anniversary and his birthday and we loved it the essence suite is gorgeous. We can't wait to return!!!!

When we arrived there was a man going into front desk area not wearing a mask and he stayed up there within a few feet of my wife while she checked us in. Two signs on door say please wear a mask. Another sign speaks about only one person at a time in check in area. The check in area is very small so thats understandable. But what was this guy doing in there? I asked the clerk when I was asked inside to show my ID and present my credit card about him. She said he was the maintenance man. So he was an employee who felt he did not have to follow safety protocols and put us at risk. So I wonder if he cannot wear a mask then what other shortcuts are being taken? The girls behind the counter were wearing their masks. Anyway I found the rooms to be quite small. The bathtub and steam shower were stained with dirt. There was visible dirt around light switches, outlets, etc. We checked on at 7 with plans to spend the evening but checked out at 10:30 pm. This was a prize from a local radio station for a free nights stay so we only lost the $47.20 they charged for membership fees and taxes. I guess we were expecting alot more cleaning and sanitizing to be done during Covid 19 so we were dissapointed. We didn't even use the whirlpool tub, shower, or steam shower because we were a bit freaked out. Our room also had a clock that ticks loudly on every second which disturbed my wife. TV was old and very small and hard to see from the bed area. There were lots of channels though. Walls seem to be very thin as we could hear tv's from other rooms, water running, whirlpools running, etc. The location is nice as it is on Lagrange Road in Orland Park behind Papa Joe's which is a good Italian restaurant with good pizza too. Lots of places to eat. If your not particular like we are then you should be happy at this place.

Very dirty, low rent place. For an extra $150 you can go to Sybaris. Which blows this place out of the water.

My spouse and I enjoyed our stay. Room was very chill and romantic. Loved the mirror effect. The jacuzzi and shower was nice and romantic. Definitely will be back. I have a membership now lol

Room was so dirty we didnt even want to stay. We had no bath towels. Everything is broken or dirty. We had room 134. We wont ever come back we were so grossed out and disappointed. Advertised as luxurious and romantic when it should say old and dirty

Got there on OCT 3rd, 2019 the first room had no cold water, the 2nd room the jacuzzi didn't work and the person next door was playing loud music, 3rd room was not any better. we gave up and went else where. i don't think we will be returning. this is the 3rd time we have stayed there and have had issues with the room.

Terrible !! It was the weekend before my birthday and i had the worst experience!! First we get there and the key to the room wouldnt even open the door , so we had to go to the front multiple times and she opened it.. Then my boyfriend asked for rose petals on the bed and they were on the floor .. Then the headboard was coming up and nails were sticking out ... Then are tv wasn t working so we couldnt even watch tv without it freezing ... I WILL NOT BE BACK !!!

Listen Fellas, you want to spend $300 and impress your significant other? Take my advise and skip this place!!! You can find a nice hotel room for $120 or less, then spend the rest on a romantic dinner and flowers. Well, I guess this place does offer flowers. If you choose to spend another $10, you get rose petals sprinkled on your bed upon arrival. Even though we did not ask for that, we did get the pleasure of the leftoves we found in the bed from thr previous couple! Gross! And they are not even real!! This place is trashy! Mattress felt like it was 30 years old. Even if it wasn't wrapped in plastic, still would be terrible. Comforter is like an old camping blanket. Repairs in the room were fixed with tape (Yes, tape) and caulk. Do not throw you money away on a night here!

Horrible!!!!! Soon as I walked in to use the bathroom there's curly hairs in the tub! The remote won't even turn the tv up and down. Its our anniversary and we are trying to enjoy ourselves. The room is outdated and the towels looks like they're from a $25 a night hotel room. They are thin and hard and yellow looking. The bathroom looks so dirty.. Nothing in the room coordinates. Then they do not even try to give a resolution to the problem This place is overrated and they have NO business charging that amount they charge for these rooms. For the sake of the customers update the rooms its 2020 not 1987! The reason I'm even giving one star is to write a review and it will not let me post the review without giving at least one star. Please email me when yal update this dump thats when I will be back!

Not worth for the cost for 1 night, all water faucets were leaking or running. The room was not cleaned very good, small and run down. Needs upgrades and or repairs. Very disappointed for our get away

been coming here for my birthday for the last few years and they never disappoint.... the clean , relaxing atmosphere here is awesome... and the late checkout option is everything...definitely 5 stars for me

We never made it to the room. On January 3, 2014 I reserved a room for February 14 and February 15, 2014. The room rate on the website was $175. I charged it to my credit card and the system indicated that the room was booked.

Today, January 6, 2014, I received a call from them indicating that they had decided to change the rate for the room that we had reserved for the 14th. It was being changed from $175 per night to $370 per night.

This upset me. The lady on the other end said that they do this every year for Valentine's Day. So, I asked why doesn't your website reflect that in the pricing? It sounds like "bait and switch" since they know the rates will double (and then some). She indicated that they reserve the right to increase rates. I countered with the elements of a contract being offer (a room for $175) and acceptance (my credit card)...she didn't understand what I was trying to tell her.

The biggest issue here is that the management KNOWS that their rates will be at least doubled on 2/13, 2/14, and 2/15, but they STILL PUBLISH THE REGULAR RATES. They wait a few days for you to get your baby sitters, pet sitters, house sitters, and other arrangements set up, then they call you to tell you the amount they really plan to charge you,

By the way, I just looked at their website (and captured a picture of it). The rates for February 13, 14, 15, 2014 are STILL LISTED AS $175 per night.

The good news is that I found the reviews for this place and decided it's a good thing that we aren't going there now. (Divine Intervention?)

BUYER BEWARE!!!!

We stayed in Room 131 on 8/23/20 which was a Super Suite. The air conditioner had a weird smell like a faint smell of vinegar, the jacuzzi smelled like sewage/sulfur and the shower smelled of mildew. The disco lights above the bed were faulty. There was also a bottle of apple juice left under the bed. We wanted to leave immediately but we couldn t because we had drove 4 hours to be there and were very tired. Our stay was very uncomfortable due to the smell and uncleanliness during a time like this especially as the pandemic is still going on. We both had headaches from being in the room. Thankfully there was a Walmart near by where we purchased a ton of scented candles, bleach, and Tylenol. We also disinfected everything with spray. This is not how I imagined explaining my surprise proposal or spending a romantic getaway. We will never come back here despite the very nice set up and friendly staff. I really wanted to love this place. It has potential.

The roses on my vase were dead, the rose petals on the bed were fake. I was suppose to get a heart shape pizza, should I have not called front desk they just would not have delivered it. Front desk said sorry kitchen is closed and there is nothing we can do about it. No robes or slippers in my room called front desk and they told me to come to the office so I can pick some up and when I get there they said sorry we don't have any available. Way to ruin a romantic night.

Very nice place to go for that little get away. Rooms are small so don't get fooled by the website. Lots of mirrors in the room to make it look big.. Very clean room and items were prepared nicely. Now let's talk about the hot tub, we were not in pressed at all, Very weak Jets and no air Jets at all. To us, it's a big bathtub with a water that moves.. nothing to write home about.. other then that,, everything else was fine.

It's okay. Last time my room was way too hot, fireplace would not turn off and woke up to ants everywhere by the fridge and all over the counter

Room was clean and nice. Definitely a great place for a romantic night away. There was loud music playing in a room near us that kept us awake at night. Also we had a non-smoking room but cigarette smoke could be smelled from a room near us.

The first room we went to, the cold water didn't work so the shower was boiling hot. We told the front desk and they said just to downgrade a suite for the night so we can shower. We packed all of our stuff and downgraded for the night, but the television didn't work. Finally morning came and they gave us back our original suite but in a different room. So we packed all our stuff AGAIN. We called the manager, Jay, to see if we can get a discount for all these inconveniences, but he said the most he can do is $20. $20!!!! That is nothing, he then started giving us attitude. It was the worst stay ever. Just save your money and go to Sybaris. This was nothing but trouble, no romance at all. We're never coming back to Essence again

I'll give this place 3 stars..the rooms are super small,They are made like a motel room literally. they just cramed a Jacuzzi and steam room in it. they make the rooms look big by the pictures on the website trust your going to be disappointed when u walk in the room. your better off getting a regular hotel room for the ridiculous price they charge for a night. it is not worth the money at all I seen nicer places for less the money..then they wanna charge extra feeds to pay for a late check-out I would of did it but it wasn't even worth doing that. I couldn't wait to get out of there I wish I could've gotten my money back ..the only reason I say 3 stars is because me n my husband made the best out of it....big advice if you are looking for a romantic getaway please please believe me don't stay at the essence big waste of money..if u ask me they need to shut it down until they get the place up-to-date

BY THE WAY IF YOU RAISE YOUR RATES TO $375 YOU WILL NEVER GET IT PLEASE WHAT EVER YOU DO JUST GO VIST THIS DUMP. I WISH I WOULD EVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN. HOWEVER THE STAFF WAS GOOD I HAVE STAYED IN SUITE BEFORE AND THIS IS NOT ALL IT IS A MOTEL 6 TRICK OUT WITH MIRRORS. ANYBODY THAT GAVE THIS PLACE 5 STARS MUST STAY IN A CITY DUMP JUST PLEASE VISIT FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
