It's very good ,and my dather love's playing the grand piano., once one of the spa manigers said that my dather is ready to get a job for playing the piano and he was serious about it because the people in the spa was asking who is playing the piano, they liked it a lot ! !!

The Spa treatment alone is a perfect reason to stay at The Elms Hotel & Spa! The Grotto is amazing, then you head for your massage and finish up with a drink in the quiet room!
Service and accommodations were great! Nice and clean. Had a snafu with the spa services we had booked, but they made it right and we still enjoyed the Grotto to the fullest.
I went to the Elms as part of a mother+daughter getaway. We stayed on the fourth floor in a very comfortable, adequately spacious suite. I had spa services done on both days I stayed (so I could be in the Grotto both days). The spa services More
The spa is beautiful and great. I would stay somewhere else though. It s pretty pricy for there to be mold in the shower, barely any outlets, outdated look, etc. not really worth the money
Love the building, so beautiful and historic!!! Service is not good. No room service even after we specifically asked the maid to service our room. She said yes, absolutely but never did it. The next morning I had to chase the maid for coffee and clean towels. Unacceptable! 88 restaurant is a joke!! Slow service and overpriced tasteless food. I ordered a full size Caesar salad it came out smaller than a side salad. My boyfriend ordered pork shoulder and it was tasteless and burnt. The only phenomenal thing about this whole experience is the Spa and the beautiful building itself!!! Come on The Elms, put it together!
Decent hotel with outstanding history and all the modern amenities. Not sure we had the cleanest of rooms but after wiping a few things down it felt very comfortable. I would probably stay there again.
I loved my stay, we went for a spa day and got so much more. I was unaware that the Elms was a hunted Hotel, I was thrilled when I found that out. I will go again and the food was fantastic.
There was an initial mix-up with our stay, but Haley at the front desk made it right. The resort is beautiful, especially with indoor and outdoor hot tubs/pools. The resort allows you to visit a few bars & a restaurant and Cafe. However, they aren't known for their food, their are plenty of great places nearby, like Wabash BBQ or Ventana. The hands down best part is the spa--of course. It is top notch with top notch staff. The massages & hydrotherapy baths are heaven. With every service you have access to the awesome grotto, which time can get lost in for hours. The steam sauna, steam shower, hot tub, exfoliation bar and more. It's a great getaway weekend for a couple or just a girls weekend. I'll definitely be back.
We stayed in a small room, but really enjoyed the large pools. My children really enjoyed swimming and we really enjoyed being able to enjoy drinks by said pool.
Service was awful was not given the room we booked. Impolite staff, overpriced, dirty rooms. Full of loud drunk wedding parties running around not peaceful by any means DJ goes till midnight sleeping is not a option!
We stayed for two nights in July 2020. That was our first and last time.
This hotel is filthy. Months worth of dust buildtup in multiple places, the grotto has mold throughout, the bathroom floors/ showers are grimy. We counted six dirty bandaids left along the edge of the lap pool. Gross.
We paid $300 for a couples massage and had high expectations. What a disappointment, our reservation was messed up and only one of us left relaxed.
About 1/3 of the staff members could use additional customer service training. I had to wait 10-15 mins before anyone came to assist me in the cafe. Once someone was there, rather than apologizing and focusing on getting my order, she complained about what had causes her to leave the counter, which was of no concern to me. This is only one example.
I am giving them two stars rather than one because the beds are incredibly comfortable, the pork shoulder was delicious and the ghost tour was cool.
What a great place to stay for two nights.. Hotel was fun to go to and loved walking around the grounds.. We didn't use the spa, the pool was too busy to use and the bathroom smaller than what we are used to but this day was wonderful
Turns out they changed over all the cash registers and order tracking software the weekend we were there, so restaurant and bar were effectively off line bit they'd still take your order and sit on it while you waited.
We stayed here for my wedding weekend, October 25th 2019. My parents had issues with their reservation as soon as we arrived, as we were supposed to be on the same floor for getting ready purposes, photos and all those types of things. They were sent to a different floor and settled with it. That night after my wedding ceremony we all had dinner in the hotel restaurant. My parents were interrupted during my wedding night dinner and asked to switch rooms because they needed there room for someone else. They sent an employee to move all their belongings (which were all unpacked and a mess because we had gotten ready in their room) and he was very sweet and apologetic saying he's sure they would make it up to them. The customer service stopped there. The next room they were sent to was full of black mold which my mom is extremely allergic to. She went back to the desk to request a new room and the front desk was incredibly non chalant about the mold, didn't even ask where the mold was. My mom asked if they'd like to know where the mold was and she said oh yea we'll send someone to clean the shower (but the mold was in the vents.) My mom had already been in the mold room long enough to become sick. She was sick for my reception the next night. Upon check out a couple days later the front desk manager was extremely careless and all that had been offered were 2 breakfast vouchers. (She denied that they ever comp anything and the nice man who moved their room previously had no right to offer anything as an apology.) Not only is 2 breakfast vouchers not even enough to make up for all the trouble and poor customer service, my mom was too sick to make it to breakfast. It is now 1 day short of 2 weeks later, my moms is still sick with mold poisoning. She has had to take off work, and has had to visit a doctors office twice and be put on 3 different medications. And the Elms could care less. Do not stay here. It's dirty and the customer service is poor. As far as my stay goes our room service was expensive and gross. We received a caesar salad which came with rotten red cabbage in it. Even the lady who delivered it said that's not what the salad should look like. And we spent $700+ in the spa which would have been great if all the steam and other features would have been working but they were not. $700+ was spent in the restaurant with great food but also poor service. And my wedding, although beautiful and nice staff (for the most part) did not go off without a hitch.
This is a historic hotel that had the old world feel. The rooms were fairly nice. There were ants in the bathroom which is not good. Overall it was a good experience.
I enjoyed my stay at the elms hotel &spa, the employees were so friendly, the room was beautiful, made it peaceful and very relaxing. Room service was exceptionally friendly. Room rates were reasonable. Very highly recommended.
This marks the third experience we ve had at The Elms. Our first trip was full of issues. The quality of the food and service was below acceptable for the cost. We were even overcharged at checkout. However, when we shared our complaints with the staff, they quickly moved into action and ensured us this wasn t typical. We received a night stay to come back and give it another shot.
When we returned several months later, it was pretty delightful, honestly. The hotel is full of history and charm. The Spa was beautiful and extremely relaxing. The food and service was, again, not stellar but it was overall nice.
So, this year we decided to come back for their New Year s Eve party. When we checked into the room, it was small and quaint but we quickly realized there was no closet or wardrobe in which we could hang our clothes. Inconvenient but not worth getting upset about. We went downstairs to for dinner we were sat under the stairs by the window. The restaurant was freezing, even with a blazing fire. When I looked at their thermostat, it was set to 65! Burrr! They moved us upstairs and dinner started with several well-intentioned staff, fumbling through a service the management had clearly not prepared them for. Again, mistakes are forgivable but it just didn t stop there. The service lasted longer than it should have and the wait between courses was confusing. The food here tastes like something that would come out of the kitchen at a culinary trade school. It s trying so hard to be special but lacks finesse and more importantly, quality. I ate two bites of my chicken and couldn t even finish the mashed potatoes. My husband ordered medium-rare steak and it came well-done. I am (by no means) a food snob, either. We left dinner and moved on to check out the parties. The bar had a one man band. He was terrific! Best part of the evening!
The next morning, we went to our scheduled breakfast buffet. It was freezing in the hotel lobby. I understand this time of year is cold and I m sure old hotels are tricky to heat but there was not additional thought to ensuring comfort. The buffet was okay, not great. Our waitress was less than accommodating. However, we drank our coffee and after all, caffeine is the best part of any breakfast. That was good! We spent time in the Spa, after. It was fabulous. After lounging, we started feeling hungry. I know, if you re still reading, I m sure you re asking yourself why we went back. Well, there aren t any other options really. We went into the restaurant and were given the menu for those eating between lunch and dinner. The same waitress from breakfast walked in and told us they weren t serving (in a less than apologetic tone). At this point, we re we re annoyed but thought The Cafe might still do the trick. I started dreaming of a latte and was okay. However, The Cafe was also closed! We were bothered by the realization that the place we d planned to spend a couple of days hadn t completely prepared for the experience they d promised with such an occasion.
This is where it ended. We packed up early and chose not to stay our last night. Once again, my husband shared our disappointments and the team at the front desk worked hard to keep us, offering to open the restaurant and make us whatever coffee drink we chose. It was very helpful but too late. I m left feeling for the staff. Where s management in quality control? It s lacking desperately in almost every category. This hotel has a great deal of unrealized potential. I hope they work it out but we will likely never return. We gave it a chance and I leave this review to be helpful to those who might be able to make appropriate changes.
We stopped in on the day after a storm took out power to Downtown. It was a beautiful day to sit on the veranda and enjoy lunch. We split the best BLT I have ever eaten. Then we enjoyed a stroll through the hotel, asking where the lap pool location was. Spa staff gave confusing directions, so we ask another young staffer, who eagerly volunteered to lead the way, explaining it was a bit hard to find. Being senior citizens, he had the foresight to ask if we were comfortable with stairs. We assured him we we, and we wound around the belly of the hotel to arrive at the fabulous lap pool area. We agreed with our guide that this area appears to be the best kept secret of the hotel, as no one was using the beautiful pool, hit tub or cooler spa for those that can't tolerate a hot tub. Let's get the secret out about this hotel, and especially the lap pool area that is so grand. This hotel is very special.
My wife and I love this place. We go there at least one to two times per year. It's always clean and the staff is always super friendly. Highly recommend!
I had the same experience as another reviewer. They had two weddings each night we stayed, plus morning weddings. People were drunk, and loud until about 1 or 2 AM.
We tried to relax in the spa, but had to listen to the staff complain about their hours and talk about their social lives while they "pampered" us.
No place to park, barely any Verizon service, and the wifi would just go out randomly. We will not be going back.
We stayed overnight as a quick get away with a couples massage at the spa. This was a gem tucked away and we will definitely go back. The Spa was quiet, relaxing and the perfect way to unwind after a stressful week. Would definitely recommend as a romantic getaway for couples of any age.
Very disappointed. We did not stay. We drove over 3 hours to get there, when we were an hour away the hotel called us to say they bumped our room and gave it to someone else. So I guess a reservation isn't really a reservation. We will never recommend it to anyone and will never go back. Bad business. This site made me give it a star but doesn't deserve any stars.
I was very disappointed in my latest stay at The Elms. The hotel was very crowed and the staff seemed overwhelmed. Our room was not clean (to our standards) and smelled musty. It was also very noisy. You could hear people yelling and running up and down the hallways slamming doors at ALL hours. The restaurant is over priced. We ate there twice and were disappointed both times. There is an incredibly long wait and the food is mediocre at best. I booked our stay hoping to have a relaxing weekend to celebrate our 2 year anniversary, however, feel like I wasted my money and I will not be back.
We went to The Elms for our anniversary. The spa is amazing and the pool area and room accommodations are really nice. I wish the restaurant was better. The staff seemed shorthanded and the food was hit and miss. Not bad but not great either. We still had a lovely time and plan on coming next year.
Great place to stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and beds comfortable. Pillows were really firm. Room had a slight smell. Not bad, not good, just a noticeable smell. On site restaurant was good. A variety of foods and price points available. The spa was the highlight. Great check in service. The treatments were delivered by talented therapists. Would come again.
The Hotel was very interesting but the service fell way short of what you would expect from this type hotel. The housekeeping was not good and there were extra charges for aggomidations that should have been complimentary. The wait staff was not good and they completely forgot to enter a breakfast order which resulted in a wait over 1/2 hour and still no food. I don;t feel that I could recommend this hotel
Fourth time stay at The Elms. The hotel has gone down hill. Room- our first room was filthy. Stains on the floor, stains on the pillow that was on the couch, again on the curtain and blood stain from what looked to be bed bugs on the mattress. I requested a room change. Next room still had stained carpet but no bed bug marks on the mattress.
Grotto- they removed all the comfy ergonomically correct lounge chairs in the grotto and replaced them with cheap every day lawn chair loungers. The sauna is out of order. The cold white rags were all battered with rips. No more beer service in the grotto- have to walk up to the bar in robe to get your own beer. The quiet room replaced all their comfy chairs with hard wood loungers.
It s too bad. We made it an annual trip. I won t be coming back. For what we pay this hotel needs some work.
My sister and I stayed at the elms for a night for a sisters getaway. We loved it! The spa is so luxurious, the grotto with the saunas and hot tub is such a relaxing way to start the day at the spa. We loved our room which the front desk upgraded for us when we checked in, we just asked and they had a suite available and gave it to us. We loved the pool. The beds were soft and comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice. I will definitely come back!
Amazing wedding venue and a unique beautiful hotel. I enjoy the staff and the amenities. The pool is big and clean. The beds are the so comfortable like miniature puffs of clouds.
The building is gorgeous and had a rich history, ALL of the staff were incredibly friendly, and the spa was just perfect. My husband and I spent two nights here on our honeymoon and we will definitely be going back for anniversaries. It was the perfect romantic getaway.
I stayed at the Elms for one night and was blown away by its beauty and how friendly the staff were. I would say I am very pleased with m stay, until they called me AFTER my stay and informed me that I had been given the wrong price for the room and actually had to be charged a more expensive amount. I feel this is very unprofessional and tacky. Disappointed in this establishment and how they handled the situation, I shouldn't be charged more for a mistake a staff member had made-especially since I was told this more than 2 weeks after my stay. Other than that my stay was pleasant but I will not be returning due to the billing error.
Disappointed. Imagine my surprise went the cost went from $504 (with taxes and fees) for the weekend that I was quoted over the phone went to almost $800. No apology, no trying to save the business. I was made to believe it was my fault somehow. The lobby was dated. The staff lackadaisical. The only positive was ww were able to cancel. My name is Wayne Peterson and we shall not return.
I didn t actually stay in the hotel, I just toured it on my own accord. My daughter lives in this beautiful historic city and I love the history. So during my visit we went to a couple historic places. Loved the architecture and history!
Four of us went to eat lunch. The food was good and the staff friendly. We did not stay at the hotel but wanted a chance to enjoy a meal. The spa services looked interesting. May have to check it out more at a later date.
Beautiful HOTEL and that's all it is, it's not a RESORT at all, this is falsely advertised, it has a Spa but is just a HOTEL! Everything cost extra including Breakfast! Service and Staff were nice enough but don't go here for rest and relaxation, because it's not always the right place to get away.
Excellence in a hotel is here. Even though we stayed in off season, the food and service was the best. The only reason there are not 5 stars is because the hot tub was broke.
Family wedding held here. Staff was wonderful. Rooms were very nice. Walking distance to downtown with restaurants and shops. Beautiful grounds and pools.
