Had a great time. The grotto was a great experience but by far my favorite part of the trip was Jay and the ghost tour. He's an excellent speaker and obviously loves what he does. In fact, everyone that works at The Elms seems to love what they do. I would definitely recommend this place to family/friends.

This hotel is definitely unique nestled in the heartland of MO. The pool in the basement is awesome with its shape. A European Lap pool is what we were told. The Spa is very relaxing (it wasnt crowded on Thursday) and offers a good selection of ways to melt the stress away. The rooms are good in the hotel. Maybe a little upkeep needed but spacious. Our room had a view of the outdoor pool. The 88 Restaurant is delicious but on the pricey side. We also took the ghost tour with Jay. Good stories and if you are into chasing ghosts this place seems like a good idea. Staff was great throughout! Outdoor area is beautiful and harkens to a bygone era. This hotel is definitely full of history. The only reason it lost a star was it felt like it needed a few more staff to keep the upkeep going well. Just a few things off here and there and with a property this grand its going to need a staff to keep it up. Anyway that's a small thing, definitely come check this place out!

Beautiful building with friendly service. We were attending a wedding and had a lovely time. It was inconvenient, though, that the bathrooms on the main floor (where the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were held) don't have changing tables in them.

Absolutely amazing experience!

Absolutely amazing experience!
- The staff went above and beyond to satisfy us during our stay. We had made reservations at the spa which somehow were deleted out of their computer system when we went to go check in. Instead of turning us away, the manager herself came to the front, apologized sincerely, rebooked our services and gave us our massages/facials complimentary. When we tried to pay anyway, they told us they could not accept our payment as their computers had messed up. We've never experienced such hospitality at another hotel or spa.
- The restaurant staff were absolutely friendly and helpful, giving us coffee at any hour of the day when requested!
- Though it was snowy and cold outside, we felt entertained and warm the entire time! It was the perfect weekend get away and was made perfect not only by the amenities but by the warm welcome of the staff and the friendly environment! Highly recommend for a weekend get away!
thanks to all who helped us! :)

The only suggestion we have is to add more vegetarian options to the restaurant menu!

The hotel has so much history and character. We really enjoyed the restaurants and spa . The employees were very helpful, especially those that had been there for a while. They were especially accommodating. Pam, met us at the front door and welcomed us. She was great and full of wonderful information about the hotel and town history. THANK YOU PAM! (You should train some of the young girls at the front desk .

Our spa experience was wonderful! Thank you for a great time!

My wife and I stay there a couple of weekends ago. Did not have a good time it was about 50 degrees in our room and the heater did not work. The man next to us was talking until 4 in the morning, I called the front desk, she had gone up there and told him to keep it down but 10 minutes later he was making noise again. So we packed up and left. Ended up leaving at 4:15 am. They did give us a partial refund but I think we should have gotten a complete refund. Me and my wife stayed there right after we got married 23 years ago and was reliving some memories. We will never go back there again

Room was nice size but a lot of wasted space in the bathroom. Paid extra for Jacuzzi and it was smaller than a normal 5 foot tub. Made me wait 3 hrs for check in. Also there is nothing around this place. Expect to drive 15-20 min if you need something or dine out.

The place certainly has an ambience - plentr of history. We stayed on the same floor where Harry Truman kept a suite. But it's age shows a bit - slow small elevator. It offers full spa services, but we didn't partake. I'm sure that would have enhanced the experience and the bill.

Sweet people. Beautiful views. Catered to my gluten free needs completely. Don't expect new facilities; this complex of buildings has been here for decades, but it has a certain charm about it.

The room was so awesome! The hotel was still decorated for Christmas in early January and was beautiful! We ate at the 88 restaurant too and the food and wine were terrific! And celebrating my birthday with my wife was awesome too!

Toilet paper behind the curtains. Heater didn't work properly. Called desk. Did someone would be up to look at it. We left at check out. Nobody showed up. Elevator didn't work. Had to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Light bulb in bathroom was held in by aluminum foil and fell out in sink. Shower heads were mounted almost to ceiling. Hot water ran out. It might have been a great hotel at one point but it did not live up to my expectations. Staff at night was super friendly and accommodating. They are the only reason we didn't leave and ask for refund to go somewhere else.

Stayed at this hotel for a wedding that was onsite. Got the wedding rate . The room was not worth that rate and especially not at whatever it s regular price was. Staff and food was decent. Do not think we will be returning.

Historic and relaxing. Close to the city center but there is not a lot of need to leave the premises with the spa and pools. One of the check in staff must have been new as she didn't share much of the offerings with us. Kyle in the restaurant was great and educated us fully - he deserves a raise!

What a beautifully renovated hotel with amazing staff that helped make our valentines day retreat a special experience! My husband and I were treated to a fabulous couples massage. The spa was so quiet and relaxing with a romantic feel. With the spa treatment we were able to take advantage of the "Grotto". There we could hop in the hot tub, steam shower, sauna, steam sauna or polar plunge shower. The restaurant within the hotel is so tasty. We enjoyed the 5 course meal that allowed us to try several new things that we've never experienced. It was all amazing! Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special night out.
