Nice restaurant. Two menus to choose from and two...
Nice restaurant. Two menus to choose from and two different dining areas. Food was good, staff was polite and efficient. A little pricey but good!

Probably some of the best food in Gettysburg. A little pricey but the atmosphere is right up my alley
Our favorite place in Gettysburg. The best french onion soup ever, and Adam's delight is truly delightful.
This place had the perfect atmosphere. Its exactly what one would be expecting in a civil war tavern. Everything else was subpar. My old fashion was made incorrectly, it had all the muddled orange in the drink and it wasnt strained. Made drinking difficult. My husbands beer was served in a 10 oz. Goblet which was also unexpected. We shared a hot beef sandwich, it was dry and the potato chips were store bought. We got there when the opened at 1130am and it was almost full by 1215 and this was off season. Next time we are here we would like to try the dinner service.
Best restaurant in the world and Becky is the best waitresses in the world.
Amazing house.. beautifully decorated inside ...the owner was really lovely and down to earth ..its free for the tour and ..for me..the best one that ive been on to in my time in Gettysburg ...cant wait to get back to to that astounding little town
Our favorite go to place when we come to Gettysburg! Love the gift shop also.
Great food. the dining room was very dark and took some time to get used to but was also very interesting.
The history authentic, period clothing and really good Onion soup. Great place.
very good food! We had a super big group...20 or so. Service was good but we were cramped in a back room.
Food is great and staff is very helpful and friendly.
From previous visits, we were disappointed in the quality of the food and service. Seating was crowded. Waitress forgot our appetizer. However, there was a flexible, yet robust menu.
Beautiful historic old inn. Stop on the under ground railroad. Eat drink and then walk across the parking lot to your room. Great experience!
Fun atmosphere, friendly service. Reasonably priced.
Went to the basement tavern for lunch.. Food and atmosphere were both great.. Take a flashlight though... Lol
Most amazing food great atmosphere very friendly staff will return
The food and service was very good. We were fortunate to eat outside as the weather was also perfect.
Love the rustic/historic atmosphere here. They have excellent french onion soup!
Service is amazing. All working employees are in a uniform matching their theme. Cilvil war era. Its really fancy. Everything including salad dressing and butter are made in house. They use candle lighting too! They also use some every beautiful dishware. They give you a basket of a verity of complamentrey bread. And when you pay they give you chocolate mints. The building it's self is lovely. They have bed frame with curtains that you can dine under as well as many other options. This place makes you feel like a fancy weathy person.
10/10 such bread much homemade. Wow. Doge approved.
I enjoyed the burger a lot. I expected it to be not the best. When my friend received her meal it looked not the best because they had it spilled everywhere. Especially with COVID it s not safe to eat public. When I saw a worker clean the table it wasn t even a basic clean for sanitary conditions. It was just getting the crumbs off.
One of my favorite places to dine in Gettysburg. I love feeling as though you ve stepped back in time, with the period clothing worn by staff, and atmosphere. My favorite area to dine is in the upstairs bedroom, at the tables that resemble a poster bed. You can also catch a carriage ride from their parking lot. The food is AMAZING! I highly recommend the Orange Gazed Duck, and the salad with Hot Bacon Dressing!
Great little place. Historic building, nice atmosphere, good food and reasonably priced. If you like French onion soup you must try it here. It was the best!
The food is expensive. It is very good. Never a good start to a meal when the waitress tells you she hopes to make it through your meal because she doesn't feel well. It's rather tight seating and loud.
I can't say enough great things about this incredible historic place. Food is amazing as is the service and atmosphere. Any trip to Gettysburg is not complete, if you miss out on the Dobbin House Tavern.
Best onion soup anywhere. Our waitress Becky was fantastic! Love the Dobbin House!
Way too busy. Told us they didn't take reservations, until we got there and were told we should have made a reservation. Food was okay but not worth the time we waited for it. Service was okay but again not good enough to make up for how long we waited to be seated. Very loud and crowded.
Great setting and ambience, crab soup and filet mignon with scallops added was perfectly done. Kelly did a great job with the service making us feel at home.
A really neat history filled place smack fab in the middle of the most historic battlefield in the civil war. Good food and drink, the only downside being that if you have a handicap like myself it can be a little tough to navigate, however I am not saying anything negative about the place considering when it was built and the handicapped cannot expect revisions to historic places.
Situated across the street from where President Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg address. The Dobbin House Tavern is one of the most historic taverns in Gettysburg. The Tavern is also on the national register of historic places and served as a stop on the underground railroad during the Civil War.
Not surprisingly with all that went on during the civil war the Dobbin House Tavern is said to be haunted. Guests and staff have reported seeing apparitions of runaway slaves throughout the tavern.
The Tavern s previous owner who was also an abolitionist is said to make appearances every now and again as well, probably just making sure his tavern is in good hands and that people are behaving.
Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent service!!!
Historical environment with excellent food and drink.
Such a relaxing environment to eat by candlelight and experience an age gone by. The staff, menu, and decor put you into the late nineteenth century and the food is delicious and unique. This is a "must do" if you're in Gettysburg.
Don't go to Gettysburg without a visit to Dobbin House. Will be a dining experience that will keep you coming back. Nice little store as well as historical significance in the building.
The atmosphere service and food were all very good. We would go again.
My friends and I had a wonderful lunch at the Tavern. Both the food and service were excellent.
I had an awesome lunch there and the place is breathtaking inside
The Dobbin House is my favorite restaurant, it s where we celebrate special occasions! Love the upstairs bedroom and the food is always amazing! Also enjoy lighter fare in the pub downstairs and the gift shop is a must! The history of the house is so interesting and you can imagine it as the family home it once was, as well as a haven during the early years of our Country.
I ate on the tavern side of the restaurant and I can't recommend it enough!
I got the crab cake sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. I wish I could have eaten 3 more of them! My mom got the spit roasted chicken and I tried some, it was delicious as well.
The staff was awesome and dressed in period attire.
A really cool little spot with some great atmosphere and great priced food.
Wonderful resturaunt staff was freindly, good food portions and a decent price
Loved the Tavern, a step back into time with quite an attractive selection in food and spirits. The Crab Cakes were outstanding and the best I have ever had !
Great for historical significance. Old inn from the civil war. Decent for food, although a bit pricey. Food can only be ordered for large groups.
Wonderful place. The atmosphere, the food and the service were all great.
Have dinner in the oldest standing building in Gettysburg! A Civil War Hospital, a hiding place for those seeking refuge along the Underground Railroad, a museum, a boarding school, and an amazing peice of American history! The food here...outstanding!! Try the Gettys-town Shrimp or the Crabcake! Onion Soup is to die for and the fresh bread and desserts are made on-site! The atmosphere is great! Dine by candlelight in the cellar or the main house. The main dining room does not open until 5 pm, but the Tavern downstairs opens at 11 am. They have a ballroom for special functions as well! Great for Chistmas parties or wedding receptions!
Great food, cozy atmosphere, good prices, excellent onion soup. Definitely going to go again.
Great old historic Tavern in Gettysburg. Food and service is great. Don't miss it if you are in the area
My family always has to eat here when we are in Gettysburg. We love it.
The 7oz. Filet Mingnon was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I wish I'd have been able to eat indoors and take in the history, but even under a tent on the parking lot, this was a great meal.
Best food and atmosphere for fine dining in Gettysburg. Dont pass up the opportunity for the tour in the morning.
I loved coming here. The setting was nice and very "old school". The staff were nice and the food was delicious, especially their lamb chops.
The restaurant was so relaxing and unlike most restaurants I felt like I could unwind and not worry about the time. Nothing like sitting around having tea and desserts after dinner :)
Good food. The history here is extremely interesting. I love the uniforms the waitresses wear.
One of my all time favorite places to go when in Gettysburg
Was nice but would have gone somewhere else if the other lines were shorter.
I love this place I eat lunch in the basement bar restaurant and dinner in the upper restaurant all the time that I went there the food is great i will be back soon
One of my favorite places to go when in Gettsyburg. The eggplant fries are amazing!
A must in Gettysburg. The tavern is cozy and reminiscent of a Civil War tavern. The waitresses wear era clothes and theres candles on the tables. The king onion soup is the best I've ever eaten.
I don't believe I have ever had the opportunity to dine in such a historic location. Outstanding service. Outstanding meal!
Love the decor and the servers outfits - transports you back in time. The crab cake was fine, the soup was fantastic! Beautiful building.
I met a friend for lunch at Dobbin House Tavern today. There was ample parking at the side and back of the building. We ate outside, under the big tent. It was warm but very pleasant with the tent to shade us from the sun. We had good service - attentive without being intrusive. We each ordered the bowl of baked french onion soup. It was really good! There was a thick layer of beautifully toasted mixed cheeses on top, a slice of bread under the cheese, and a bowl of flavorful broth with both onions AND pieces of beef steak! Very tasty, filling, and comforting! I look forward to being in the Gettysburg area again soon!
Touristy place good food ok service priced for tourists or a bit pricy. $60 for 2 no drinks at tavern
We were visiting Gettysburg and decided to try here for dinner... best decision. Food was great (the onion soup was the best hands down that I have ever had), service was wonderful. Will definitely go again, highly recommended.
I would recommend the Dobbin House Tavern to anyone traveling to Gettysburg. The setting is very historic, the food was fresh and of great quality, and the service exceeded our expectations. A must when dinning in the historic Gettysburg!
The pork tenderloin here is the best I've ever eaten! Reccomend place for any romantic occasion!
Excellent service, and great food as well! Will for sure try to go here again when j visit again!
Limited menu but excellent food and atmosphere. We always eat here when in Gettysburg.
