Delicious food. Beautiful tavern. Definitely a place to visit while in Gettysburg. I recommend the crab cakes.
Delicious food. Beautiful tavern. Definitely a place to visit while in Gettysburg. I recommend the crab cakes.
Atmosphere is great. The food is average. We had chicken and salmon Pecan pie was zapped in microwave and definitely store bought.
Oldest house in Gettysburg. Food is excellent but it does get crowded. Make reservations.
They didn't really have anything I liked, so I ended up getting a salad.Plus the seating attendant wasn't very friendly. Prices were a little on the high side.
The food is great! We had the crab dip as an appetizer, I would ask for extra bread! If you are going when it's cold out the hot apple cider brandy is a must try!!
The wait for seating wasn't too bad, we waited approximately 25 mins for the food after the order was placed.
Highly recommend!
Nice environment. Cool place to visit. Good food. High prices. The staff was not as open and friendly as I thought they would be considering the "historic nature" of the site. I wonder if this staff is overworked and underpaid? I liked the place but something was missing.
Fantastic food, ambience and service! Encourage reservation for dinner...parking can be an issue.
Food good and were visited by Abraham Lincoln. He plan ed to return to law practice when he had served his time as president. Historic place.
Oldest home in Gettysburg since it was built in 1776. Tons of history and it has been beautifully restored. Staff is very friendly.
Absolutely awful service, the waitress was nasty. My brother asked for applesauce but never got it. When we asked if we could get the applesauce we ordered she said he didn t really want it anyway . The waitress denies a chicken dish came with any sauce and said it was funny when we looked at the menu and told her it did. We only got water once, I had to take the pitcher from the hostess table because. Food was mediocre and took about 3 hours in total
Online website is misleading and they are way overpriced would give a zero star if I could
Waited an hour and a half for a seat down in the basement restaurant. No place to wait but outside and it was freezing. Food was good but just a basic menu nothing fancy.
Excellent atmosphere, food and service. Will definitely come back
Tour was interesting. Hard to concentrate when the couple in front on me were eating their nails. Would not touch the rail after that. The food is okay, not worth the hype or price. The people who own the place are really nice. The employees too.
Love that atmosphere and good food. Has a small menu.
A historical pub. Good food. Interesting. Wait staff was dressed in period clothing
The onion soup and rum belly drink are the two food reasons to go here. Ambiance is charming.
I would return here.
Parking is limited and the room is loud, which makes conversation challenging when you are with those who are hard of hearing.
Best historical restaurant. Best onion soup hands down. If you go you HAVE to go to the downstairs restaurant to get the full experience. The wait staff is in period clothes. They also have a museum on the underground railroad and period pieces. Pretty cool.
Tavern is amazing. Great food, service and atmosphere.
The tavern is wonderful in all aspects. Worth the time and price for a good meal and atmosphere.
Incredible dinner! Such a neat place with a very friendly waiter who went above and beyond for us. The food was delicious in every bite. We had the amazing bread basket of white bread, pumpkin raisin bread, and lemon poppyseed muffins; French onion soup, shrimp cocktail, and filet with a crab cake. Every bite was flavorful and delicious, and our only regret is living in TN so we can t eat it again soon!
Loved our dinner and history lesson at Dobbin House Tavern. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful!! So much fun.
This was such a great experience! All candlelight and staff was in period dressing from the 1700's. The menu was simple, but everything was delicious. It is well worth the price!
Interesting place for a meal. Historic. Very pricey though for what you get and ended up sick after having the roast beef sandwich. Waitress was very kind and quick.
Excellent customer service! Food is great! Very unique experience! Highly recommend!
This is an excellent place to visit! We ate dinner at the tavern downstairs. While we waited for our table we explored the gift shop and the exhibit about the Underground Railroad. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. My children and I enjoyed the evening.
Best onion soup I have had. Rich and hearty broth. Delicious!
Great atmosphere, friendly service, good food. Didnt have to wait long even though it was busy. The history of this place made it extra special.
If you're in Gettysburg, you can't go wrong with dining at the Dobbin House. The candelelit downstairs dining area is a wonderful experience. Great menu, deliciously prepared, and unique cocktails.
Cool ambiance with basement dining. Food was very good but also somewhat on the expensive side. Does have less expensive sandwich alternative. Service was fast and attentive.
The best onion soup in the area and all the food in the Tavern is delicious! Servers in period clothing! The gift shop is delightful, the staff awesome!
Great historical place to visit. The tavern downstairs is really cool. The crab dip is amazing.
Good food and drink with excellent atmosphere in the tavern. Always like to save time for the gift shop.
The Dobbin House is the oldest in Gettysburg. ..1776. Great food, nice people, great food. We loved it.
It was amazing
Top class I am a student and I loved it I definitely recommend it
Great place for food and history. Crab imperial is fantastic.
Very disappointed in this establishment! Sat outside and waited 10 minutes just to get recognized while I watched two other tables get waited on. Then after my order was taken we waited another 45 minutes as we watched other tables, atleast three, come and go. I finally asked snother employee what was going on and only then did our waitress bring our food and it was wrong. After eating we noticed the same waitress wait quickly on two other tables, whom were seated and received their food in 25 minutes. Not sure if the same level of service is provided inside, but regardless we will never favor this restaurant again. Very upset!
ONEderful food and even better staff. Definitely a place to see in Gettysburg. And the bonus is the opportunity to see a stop on the Underground Railroad
Great food. Service was sub par. Only saw our waitress once or twice in a building that is less than 500 square feet. Steak was excellent but the service will leave you wanting more.
Did not live up to the hype. We looked forward to lunch at The Springhouse Tavern. We knew we would have a bit of a wait as they do not take reservation. No problem. We were paged. Our table was ready. It was so cramped in there we could barely get to a chair. It was too dark to read the menu and 2 sandwiches cost us almost 35.00 with tip. It's also noisey. Glad we went but won't do it again.
Great relaxing step back in time in a wonderful town.
Good food and amazing history here. All servers were very nice.
A very special place we always make a point to visit. Historic building with lots to see. The upstairs dining is exceptional. The Tavern in the lower level is awesome as well. Gettysburg is so rich in history the Dobbin House is a must.
We ate at the Spring House Tavern while in town on our Honeymoon. The food was phenomenal and well worth the price. The atmosphere of tavern was unique, to the early period, and a great experience. It's definitely worth visiting while in town.
Love this place. Awesome atmosphere and stellar service. Really a great choice when in the mood for a great meal in a great historical place. Very reasonably priced aswell
The food was amazing....recommended the French onion soup!! Worth it!!
Always a must when visiting Gettysburg... excellent food and excellent service!! An unforgettable historical experience and great atmosphere!
The atmosphere and food are very welcome and enjoyable. It's pricey but worth it.
Excellent food and the tour was awesome! Highly recommend
Great food and the service was outstanding. Must stop if you are near Gettysburg.
Historic setting, great service and food. Check it out!
A must see restaurant if in Gettysburg, excellent food and atmosphere
The restaurant is in the oldest house in Gettysburg. You can eat in the tavern or the formal dining room. We ate in the tavern and although crowded the food was wonderful and the staff dressed in period clothes was friendly and professional. The room was beautiful with historical stone and fireplaces. A great place to step back in time and have a good meal. Stop in the gift shop for all sorts of treasures and unique gift items.
A Gettysburg area landmark. The rustic atmosphere simply cannot be beat. Food is certainly praiseworthy in of itself.
Must get Kings French Onion Soup!! More room eating outside under tent.
Very good. We try to visit each time we come to Gettysburg
Ate in the lower level restaurant. Very close quarters and busy. The ambiance is very dark by the period mood. The flip side of the very close quarters was we got to know the guests on our right and left. I was asked to take pictures at those tables so those guests could remember their visit. My wife liked it! ....that's that counts in my house! :-)
Food was ok not great. Staff was attentive and pleasant
Went for our anniversary dinner...we ate in the bedroom on the second floor by candlelight. Very romantic!!!
I like the setting of the place. It's neat to see. But expensive for what it is
They told us it was an hour wait to seat 8, which was to be expected. When we came back they said it would just be another 15 minutes. We then went back down to check after 15 minutes and were told we wouldn't be able to sit for another hour, even if we split up. Never got a chance to actually eat here, but would recommend some honesty!
Amazing food and service. Highly recommend the Spring House tavern French onion soup!
Stopped in for lunch today and was really surprised at the service and quality of food. Very tasty and the staff was very efficient (even though they were busy). My compatriots ordered the French Onion soup and it was magnificent! Their coleslaw is exceptional and I thought the grilled club was fantastic.
Full marks!
Excellent food and service! Must try the pecan pie, soooooooo yummy!!
Excellent service and great food! I love this historical site and gift shop.
The service was spot on , we had the Alvacado and Crab appetizer the crab portions we're tasty and large lumps that with the dip ate well , I as they say , salad was very good , and the main course Fish and Fowl was just right , the potato was also perfect all in all a fine experience that I would recommend to anyone , my opinion. 5 stars , everyone in our party of 6 loved their dishes..
Fantastic food and great service, a must do when visiting historic Gettysburg
