Situated right near the airport and Tempe, The Buttes still feels fairly secluded. The buttes on the grounds offer a nice view of the area and the pools and spas offer a nice place to sit back and relax. The rooms are pretty standard, but the whole place has a neat feel to it (how many hotels have a presidential suite and their own heliport?). The fitness center is about as good as hotels get. Wish I had more time to enjoy all the amenities and fully relax!

The staff here are wonderfully helpful and friendly, they go out of their way to assist. The property is unique in it's design and layout, the classic Southwest desert decor, lovely pool and relaxing areas. The four stars are that there are a few areas that seem more run down then they should be, and though the rooms a very nice and comfortable (clean!) the proximity to the highway makes for constan traffic sounds. Not terrible, but not as quiet as one might want.

Worked for this place for quite a while, they will invade your privacy and go through your stuff. The head of HR department at the time was the one violating privacy. If you're a guest you will be okay the workers take good care of you. If you are staff be wary

Don't order room service, Oscar who's the Manager will not do what he promises when there's a problem. He spins the conversation as if it's not up to your standard without an apology. I'm sorry Oscar you feel dirty plates & bad food is my standard not yours.

We went to Top of the Rock for happy hour on the advice of a friend. The hostess originally sat us in the dining room dispite stressing that we were looking for a casual evening and had asked for the bar (which we were told they didn't have and later informed that it was being remodeled). We wound up outside and I can't imagine sitting anywhere else unless there's a monsoon outside... WHAT A VIEW. No matter the season dress to sit outside. The food was good, the drinks where okay, the service was on point but lacking Any personal connection, but I will return again and again for the view.

This Marriott was interesting and a little bit quirky, but in a good way. I was in town for a short work trip, but would enjoy staying when I had more leisure time. The pools were beautiful, staff was friendly, and I liked the proximity to walking trails. We had a working lunch here and the food was really good, and service was attentive.

Had dinner with my fiance here. Staff was awesome, the view is amazing and the food was OK. We went on Valentine's day and they had a special menu. It might of been what we ordered, but I wasn't overly impressed with what we had considering how much we paid for our meal.

The hotel rooms needs done minor updates. Fans in bathrooms are loud, no hooks outside shower to hold a clean towel and need to add a vanity mirror. Gym is good, but can use some additional equipment for lifting and cardio. The service is outstanding across the board

Had a spa day that included use of the amenities. Massage was just average and overpriced. Pool was acceptable if a bit rundown. Might be time to resurface the deck and all the stairs. Nice location and uniquely located in the buttes which makes for nice city views.

Very pleasant "oasis" atmosphere built into and on the butte. Beautiful pools and spas (hot tubs). Less than 15 min from the airport but secluded feel on the property. Staff was great and attention to detail was evident.

This hotel is in desperate need of updating. The rooms are very dated, the carpet smells, paint is peeling, and this property simply doesn't compare to other Marriott properties. Please do yourself a favor and book elsewhere to get a good comfortable sleep without feeling grossed out.

Location is unique and beautiful as it's built into the rocks and hills. Gorgeous views from pretty much anywhere on the resort. Lots to do if you're active with 2 pools, short hiking trails, sand volleyball courts and tennis courts. A couple of the hot tubs are actually found at the end of a trail built higher in the rock. Rooms are dated in need of update, but the overall experience is unique and enjoyable.

We had rented the Presidential Suite and the adjoining two rooms for a wedding and all of the festivities involved. Getting the staff to deliver extra cups, plates, blankets, napkins, garbage bags... Anything at all was practically impossible. Anything we needed over the course of the four days took 2-3 phone calls before someone would follow through or we'd give up and make do. It became very frustrating.

Beautiful setting, incredible views, and okay food. I ordered the ribeye, but didn't feel enticed to add a side. I'm sure the sides are good, but $8 for some mac'n'cheeae? or $10 for potatoes? I took a pass. I watched as my colleagues were served fancy beautifully prepared, dishes, and I got a chunk of meat on a large empty plate. It would a been better presentation at Sizzler's! Seemed like I was punished for not partaking in the over priced sides. I mean sheesh, would a sprig of parsley killed them!? $46 for a steak and not a grain of rice or a pea or carrot in sight. It was a great prime cut of beef cooked sous-vide style - which you don't have to be a 5 star Michelin chef to pull off. Maybe next time I will pack some fries on my pocket.

The Marriott Phoenix at the Buttes is located fair...

The Marriott Phoenix at the Buttes is located fairly close to downtown Phoenix (~20 min) and 10 min from the airport. You wouldn't believe there is a resort with cascading waterfalls, large pool, tennis courts, and mini hiking trail.

First thing you notice driving up is the buttes (I assume those are the two peaks that the hotel is on). Not very high but enough to give a fairly commanding view of the nearby area. The reception area is at the very top, but parking will be closer to the guest rooms (the hotel is looooong!). Our parking fee was waived (seriously though, plenty of parking so why charge?) Though there is still resort fees (notice a trend here?) Reception was friendly and quick, got a standard room facing the pool (no suite upgrade for an ambassador? Lame).

The room was decent, comfortable but could use a renovation. Bathroom was very dated, dark, and cramped. Room was acceptable for space, but you expect better in a resort. Wi-fi worked well though, and TV had plenty of channels.

The facilities were good though. Rented tennis rackets and balls and the courts were usable so had fun there (no one else around made it really easy). The pool was heated - though could be a bit warmer since no one was in it. The hot tubs were really nice, 4 of them on the property and good temperature / jets. Theres a very private one away from the main pool area.

Overall, would come back for the price, though the fees are very annoying.

We were treated like royalty ....walked in there late one night and the two front desk women rolled the red carpet out for us. They truly prove what Marriott speaks of, Customer service at the top.

The hotel is supposed to be really nice but it's more so the pool and the landscaping then the rooms. First room no cold water only boiling hot. Second room dead cockroach. Also charges for both parking and a resort fee which seems kind of weird.

The quality and the friendliness and the work ethic is trash the ladies answering phones are very rude ,and always sound like they are being bothered !I can t believe we thought of staying here it didn t even make the top 10 waste of $ , last thing we stopped the restaurant was also disgusting and I noticed the women didn t wash their hands I personally will not be going there !Good luck to you brave souls !I

The pool has a water slide. The Jacuzzis have awesome views of the resort, city, and mountains. There's a beautiful waterfall in the lobby area connected to a cafe that offers great views as well. There's also a poolside bar and a fancy restaurant with awesome views. Need I say more? The staff is very attentive! I highly recommend it.
