Food and drinks were excellent but the atmosphere was a little dingy. If you are looking for a cozy winter bar, look no further. For summer drinks I recommend going elsewhere.

I went for afternoons tea, and it was an absolute delight! I felt like I was dining in the Titanic. There was a live band, which made the experience even better. I highly recommend visiting during the holidays because the decor is pretty magical. Afternoon tea was $46 for a glass of champagne, scones, finger sandwiches, and desert that I've dreamed about since visiting. Do yourself a favor, save the money, and go!

The Brown has taken a nosedive in customer service. I've always enjoyed this historic spot but they must be under new management that doesn't understand the hospitality industry. There are many other great hotels in Denver. Avoid this one.

The hotel amenities were luxurious and the staff was wonderful. My only complaint is the $15 charge per day for Internet access. When a meeting spot puts forward the image of wealth and success, charging petty fees for the most standard of modern conveniences is ridiculous.

Stayed here over the weekend. Originally got a single bed room. Once I walked in I was instantly upgraded to an executive suite and given a free glass of champagne.
This place gives the impression its a stuffy old money hotel, but its incredibly charming with some absolutely amazing staff. I felt welcome from the second I walked in until I checked out.
The breakfast place is pricy, but really good. The location is also next too the 16th Street mall, the capital, and the Denver event center.
Overall, this place is a really chill hotel and makes you feel spoiled.

My husband and I stayed at The Brown Palace on our wedding night to treat ourselves. We've lived in Colorado our entire lives and had always heard how nice and swanky it is. The actual building and lobby is very nice and feels very high end. We were a bit disappointed with the room as it was exactly what you might expect from another mid- or high-end hotel, nothing special but at a higher cost. The bathroom was the nicest part and showed the old building charm accentuated with marble/tile and French doors. It did have a rain shower but my husband said it sprayed every direction except for down. Overall it was a nice hotel and we're glad we checked it off the bucket list but it was not worth the inflated rate we paid.

I have been here for tea a couple of times and I've been to Ellington's. Everytime I'm here the beauty and ambience of the hotel as well as the attentiveness of the staff impresses. We live pretty close, but I would love to do a staycation and stay as a guest at the hotel. I would also love to try their spa. I've purchased spa products from the store and they've been absolutely fabulous!

Checked in Tuesday and informed the front desk that my tv was out of service and would like to go to another room or to a hotel with a tv. On Thursday they finally switched rooms. Ordered room service and they said it would take an hour to get there so I showered. Was getting dressed and cracked the door open and asked if they could leave the ticket and I ll sign. I shut the door and they kept knocking until and they said it s fine if I come out and sign the ticket in my towel which is very humiliating and unprofessional of them to request. I spoke with management and said I d like to check out immediately and find a new hotel for the rest of my stay and they said I ll still be charged for the rest of this stay as it s fully booked. I d like to find a hotel with some guest service

My professional event was mainly in the brown palace club and the main ballroom (across the sky walk from the lobby). The main ballroom was a great setup for the event, good lighting, layout and all the technical stuff worked really well (which is rare). It was good to also hear the safety procedures for the event from the security head. The food and snacks were also quite good for the event. The brown palace club for the reception was just okay - a more open room would be nicer for mingling I think, and the live piano music was a nice touch but a bit lout for the enclosed space. Overall, good venue and although the old looking style doesn't do it for me, it works well with the venue look

Tea service is nice but overpriced. Reservations are a must during the holidays. We reserved a table but the hostess rushed us (party of 2) out and asked us to leave before we were done because they needed the table. We will not return based on this experience.

Very classy art deco style hotel right in downtown Denver. Some people might call it dated but it's a classic style. The lobby has a nice sitting area with plenty of chairs as well as a restaurant and coffee shop (I didn't try either one). There's a 24-hr fitness room at the sister property across the street (use the bridge on the 2nd floor) but no pool or jacuzzi.

NOTE: I ve heard back from management and was very pleased with the response and have changed my rating to five stars!
Christmas Brunch today at Ellyngton s: The Brown was festive as usual, food delicious as usual and wait staff extremely competent and accommodating as usual. I love the Brown...we ate there when I was a little girl with my family...tea with my Mom...etc. And, this lovely historic place is still perking. Fortunately it hasn t been razed and made into mixed-use condos yet.
So, why the low rating? We made our reservation in January 2018 for today at Ellyngton s. It was for 1 pm. We arrived a few minutes early and had to wait one full hour to be seated. We just sat there in the hallway (me, my hubby and 88-yr-old mother-in-law). No one with the Brown reached out or offered us a mimosa (either complementary or for purchase) while we sat there. This was unusual behavior and not like my beloved Brown Palace. It was totally dysfunctional and out of character for the Brown to make us wait that long and behave as they did. Very sad.
What the heck happened today? Did one of the ghosts that allegedly haunts the 8th and 9th floors take over Ellyngton s reservation system this year?
Dear Brown Palace, please fix this problem. We like coming to Ellyngton s every year for this wonderful tradition.
This is for the ghost tour only---- just skip it. ...
This is for the ghost tour only---- just skip it. It's $20 a person, was supposed to be an hour long ghost tour, but this turned into a 2 hour history tour led by a retired women that clearly didn't know anything other than history, as the two normal ghost tour guides were busy.
First, she dragged us over to the other side of the hotel where she had her prom, then went on and on about the stone on the outside of the hotel.
The thing that got me, though, was room 904. Apparently it's haunted (the one haunted thing on this tour), and used a master key card to open it. She didn't check if guests were staying there and when she opened it up, there were shocked guests staring back at us. So, clearly didn't do her homework in any area of this tour.
This is a beautiful hotel, but this ghost tour was AWFUL.

Our room wasn't ready when we checked in at 4 pm. All of the workers were very nice. I think the hotel is over priced.

I booked this hotel stay based off the reviews that where provided through google. This was my families first hotel stay at the Brown Palace. To start, all services are extremely over priced for the products and service that is provided. I was not concern with the price because I planned for it to be luxury hotel. However, I would compare the overall service/visit to a local 7-11 gas station. It is what I would expect from motel 6 that was placed in the prime location of downtown Denver. This is strictly a biased opinion on my part. So, here are the facts for you to decide if it is worth close to $400 a night.
1. Live entertainment with some very talented musicians, provides a very pleasant environment. Great Artist always have that effect! A+
2. Food is subpar, drinks are over priced. C+ at best
3. Restaurant staff members are very studious and professional. A+ (Great people make this world turn)
4. Room and front desk service. F
Room was not available 1 hour after promised availablity per online booking instructions. I was given the excuse that the cleaning staff was running behind. Almost two hours after promised check in time, I was called by Gary (front desk) and told it was ready for us. I returned to the front desk and he provided me with the room with the listed room number. I had my family wait in the lobby while I went up to the room to check it out, and it's a good thing that I went by myself. I scanned the key card and opened the door to a nice looking room, I walked into the room only to interrupt TWO OTHER PEOPLE in the room getting undressed! After a very EMBARRASSING moment, I quickly went back down stair to talk to the front desk. Gary seemed to imediately realize the mistake and he apologized and gave me the keys to a different room. I was told that my keys where sitting with another group of keys that they where late on getting to other customers. Again, not what I expected from a luxury hotel. This whole event really effected the rest of the stay at this hotel. I think we would've been better off staying at the motel 6.
Bottom line: If you want to enjoy some relaxing music in a nice hotel lobby downtown, just visit it for a few hours and leave with a lot of extra money in your pocket.

I went for tea in the central atrium with five of my friends, and we were treated with attentiveness and class throughout our experience. The finger food, which comes in a traditional set of stacked plates, was well made, and the tea was brewed to perfection. The atmosphere can't be beat. This experience is for special occasions, requires a reservation, and does cost as much as it's worth, so be prepared to stay and savour it.
