Must visit for lighting lovers or artists! Very inspiring place.
The best exhibition I ve ever been in Tokyo! The ticket was so worth it since you can spend hours inside the exhibition. There also are resting areas so you can sit down for a bit. Absolutely amazing experience, and highly recommend as a date idea! I would recommend put your bags into the locker before you go into the exhibition.
We spent a good 3 hours here. Beautiful experience. You have to wait to get into some of the rooms but most of them are absolutely worth it. It's a real adventure and don't forget to go to the 2nd floor where you can jump jump on a trampoline and do bouldering
Lots of interesting lighting effects and unspoken details put into designing this place. It's much more than a simple 'museum', as almost all of it is interactive and well maintained. There's a lot of people, so keep that in mind.
They must be more specific with their "teamlab" names. There are more than one
The wait was quite long to get in, but worth it! Two extra big lines inside
Really nice place, it's wonderful to see all those light and stuff very Instagramable.
On the bad point the Entrance fee is a bit expensive 3200Y and the color of the museum comes out better in photography than in real.
Good experience anyway!!
Nice experience here, but please don t come on golden week, waiting freaking longggg
Interaction with visual and audio superimposed imagery. Interesting way to spend a couple of hours but they're nothing compared to a regular theme park, more of an interactive audiovisual themed park. More on audiovisual imagery than interaction.
It's awesome! You are completely in a different world!
Definitely worth a visit, especially if art is your thing. A bit pricy, but the content is great
Overrated, overcrowded, overpriced. You will spend half the time lining up for unexceptional windows screensavers projected on walls.
Amazing experience but lots of people. Line to get in is long but doesn't take long to get through. The tea also takes awhile but is worth it. Lots of people taking pictures and instagraming so definitely get there as they open .
Surreal experience walking through the entire borderless area. It's really easy to get lost, but that's a good thing. Make sure to visit the tea house, the green tea presentation is amazing!
Amazing experience but can be very full and noisy and the lines outside can go around the building twice, even if you have pre purchased tickets. The wait for us was about an hour. Once you're in the complex you are free to roam (some rooms are hidden so take your time) but some rooms have queues and are timed. Bring your walking shoes and some cash so you can leave your heavy bags in the lockers. This takes a good 2 hours if not three in case you are meticulous. There is a whole kids area at the top with activities.
My family and I visited the digital museum on a Saturday afternoon in August. We visited with another family and we all bought tickets several weeks in advance. There were a lot of people at the museum but it was about what I would expect for a popular attraction in Tokyo - my family and I never felt overwhelmed by the size of the crowds.
We did no planning in advance for our visit and this is the type of place where you can have a great time without planning ahead. I m not too sure we even saw all the rooms and attractions in the museum but we spent almost three hours at the museum and left feeling like we got our money s worth.
The museum has large, gallery-like rooms that have digital art projected on the walls and floors. The art changes over time, so you can stay in the big rooms and watch the changes or you can come back at a later time. There are several, smaller rooms with various different types of digital art installations that are very different from each other, each one being very dynamic and unique. My favorite room was a room where you walk through the entrance and walk on to a web made of rope that is suspended in the air in the middle of the room. You can sit or lay down. Digital art is projected on the walls, floor, and ceiling and it moves in a way that gives the impression you are flying through space.
Another great aspect of the digital museum is how kid friendly it is. There are quite a few spaces that are designated for children (even one for babies and toddlers) that provide really great interactive activities, both physical and creative. There are simple things, like a giant slide, and hands on things, like a room where the digital projections can be altered using tools that attach to the walls.
Overall, this is a great place to visit and there are lots of fun things to do and see for all ages.
I am actually quite disappointed. Probably because there are way too many visitors, you can't see and appreciate the art. Some of the art allows you to interact with it, but they failed to sense you as there are too many people. The queuing time for different exhibitions is very long, so plan ahead if you want to pay a visit. It's nice, but not as awesome as I thought it will be.
An Amazing experience. Genuinely an experience you should partake. Long lines tho
Great for photos great for a day trip I spent way longer there than I was expecting
A great interactive experience where you can be a kid again! Lots of great instagram shots/picture opportunities! I recommend heading to the tea house (En Tea house) for a nice relaxing atmosphere. Also on the second floor there are a lot of fun things you can do like an obstacles course. Some of the exhibit will have an queue such as the lanterns, the bouldering obstacles, etc. I recommend going after 3 or 5 o'clock and wear flat comfy shoes and pants (for females) because there are mirror floors. If you do wear heels, they have a free shoe rental on the second floor.
Really different and spectacular museum. Is it possible to change the day of the visit directly on the cabin.
Nice visual display but go early before it gets crowded
Amazing displays. Really enjoyable. Be prepared to queue though. The staff are friendly and we'll organised. Worth a visit before it has finished.
An amazing experience that exceeded my high expectations.
Be prepared to enter a new interactive world with an intricate network of ever-changing lights.
Best to get your tickets in advance (I.e the day before or on the morning) and arrive just before it opens at 10am.
It s a fairly pricey attraction but once you see the level of detail and effort gone into its production, you ll understand.
A must place to visit when in Tokyo... the concept and atmosphere around you is surreal.
Awesome experience, very well worth the money and long lines. Take your time exploring because you will come across something new when walking around, it s almost like a maze. There are no maps to the mini exhibits so wear comfy shoes and prepare to even stand in a couple of long lines inside. Make sure you visit the tea house in there because they have digital art floating on your tea glass!
Perhaps my expectations were too high, rather disappointing really. Bit of light shows in the dark rooms
Got there at 9:30am on a Friday and there was already a line to get in. Between 10:00am-11:00am its really nice and no lines. Go early!!
Super fun and worth a visit. If you have kids they will LOVE it. You can even colours and make your own sea And land animals. So cool!
Pictures are always beautified in the purpose of advertising or for Instagram, and pictures we saw from teamlab borderless website and from people uploaded online were different than our actual experience.
If you had been to the Infinity Mirrors and have an expectations of it being something similar, you will definitely be disappointed.
It s a Monday visit in September, and it s so busy that you will not have a picture without at least 1 other people not belong to your group in your picture. Control of the amount of people entering the museum = zero. Time spent on lining up to enter the special exhibitions such as Floating Nest, didn t align well with the wow effect I was expecting to have. It feels like the old style observatory 3D shows of galaxy that already exists like 20+ years ago. The placement of mirrors around the museum was far from a infinity mirrors type of effects.
The directions within the museum to different exhibits was down to nothing. Exhibits were easy to miss unless you started talking to people around you to find out what they had seen.
It overall seems to turn into a Yayoi copycat that was trying too hard, but for sure got tons of money for making arts a gimmick.
It's different. Glad I had the chance to experience this unique interactive museum.
Would def not have come here if not for my daughters.
Had a wonderful time here but some areas had a long line
New form of art which is fun and impressive but the downside: Way too many people. I'd rather wait some min before and have a bit more peace inside. Also felt like mass production, one was just hushed through at some places - thats understandable because of those masses of people ( Maybe limit ticket sales?)
Amazing place to visit when you are in Tokyo. Once a lifetime experience. It is family friendly and tons of experience that you cannot get it else where. Just visit in a relax mood and you will enjoy it.
Wonderfull place..
Wonderfull exhibition..
The best of all in Tokyo
Simply Amazing! The best way is to buy tickets online early. Be there early to get better photos!
Very very cool and worth the wait in line. Book early online though!
Incredible!!! Go whatever the cost or inconvenience! So immense and brilliantly clever. Don't regret skipping this...
This place is so much bigger and better than you can imagine. Spent over 3 hours here and loved every minute
Colourful interactive lights display. Worthy of visit if you like artificial lights
Amazing, worth the price and the waiting time.
Be sure to arrive early to avoid waiting time at the gate.
The en tea is an extra that you must try!
Lights are beautiful which you can spend a lot of time here and take lots of picture.
This place was the coolest thing I ve done in Tokyo. Important thing to keep in mind, make sure you buy your ticket ahead of time. Dates sell out fast!!! If you re a photographer this place is Disneyland!! I highly suggest going one to two hours before opening to wait in line. When I got there right when it opened I thought it wouldn t be that busy, but it was easily an hour wait just to get in with a one mile long line. Once you re in the exhibits are only a short wait time if you go early. If you try to hit this around noon or mid day you ll be waiting up to two hours in line just to see an exhibit. Most importantly this place is child friendly! I am for sure coming back for a photo shoot!
A must place to visit, recommend to book at the website before. Still a very long queue to go in. 30mins++
Skip this and go to teamlab planets instead. That place gets a 5/5. It's a similar concept to borderless but much better execution. Think poorly managed, crowded to the point where you can't enjoy the experience, waits of up to an hour once inside to get into specific areas, gross bathrooms, the whole works. At planets they figured it out much better and the actual contents of the museum are more fun too.
An amazing interactive experience. Be prepared to spend hours inside because the light installations are so captivating. Queues for the restricted exhibits where they only allow a few people in at any one time can get very long but definitely work it. I especially liked the Forest of lights.
Some awesome installations! Half of it is quite kid oriented. Very popular and thus really, really busy with a very long line to wait in before even entering the building. Inside it's doable though. No food inside (eat before, but rather bring a few snacks) and visit the toilet before entering the line....
A wonderful experience propably the best visit I have done in Tokyo.
I have spent two hours looking for everything and I will do it again for my next visit.
This place is really like no others.
Amazing! We basically spent over 5 hours in the museum! So if had to give any tips, it would be, come early and with time, expect queue to get in (even buying tickets before hand), start with some main rooms that have time and limited access, so also expect some queue inside, oh, bring snacks!
Truly a unique experience that I won't forget so easily. TeamLab Borderless offers something completely new to anyone who is interested in art, and has never been to a digital art museum
Each room has a different theme to it. You get to see all the colors of the rainbow blasted onto the walls, ground and even your own body. Truly sublime.
Some art pieces also travel from one room to the other, making it feel like you're in a constantly evolving art piece, that you are yourself part of
Really, there's nothing quite like it out there, so you should check it out!
WOW!!! What a stunning fusion between technology and art.
This place would be a thousand times better if they banned photography in the exhibit. It s a truly beautiful experience it s magical and interesting and really, really cool but! The people are really annoying. The rooms are generally crowded with loads of selfie-taking people who forget to just embrace the meaning of the art and put their phones away for a hot second. The crystal room is the best of the best, so prepare yourself for a really special time.
Amazing experience
I will go back there again
Not all the exhibits are that impressive but a few are wowworthy enough to warrant 5 stars! Worth the price.
Really cool. There's nothing else like it. Absolutely worth checking out.
Such a magical experience! Make sure to explore every twist and turn or else you may miss some of the amazing exhibits
Wonderful place! Don't go with hurry, take your time and go around as much as possible, many installations are hidden
It would be an amazing experience if it wasn't so crowded. Queue times are way too long, more than 50 min for one room where you can only stay for like 2 min.
One of the best places I visited while in Tokyo - but I do love lights in darkness, so there's a certain bias there. It's so beautiful, so technologically progressive (in my opinion), and very interactive (touching walls, animals, etc. All More
A museum with very interesting art presentation via advanced lightings technology. The museum is quite dark therefore parent shall pay special attention and care to children. The presentation is more appreciated by adult than children, you can expect to spent about 2 hours during weekday to visit the entire museum and you might need to allow more time for the weekend visit as it can be very crowded.
Amazing exhibit. If you brought bags or a thick coat, I recommend putting them in the lockers at the entrance because it gets hot with all the lights and the athletic forest.
Buy your tickets online and get there early. It will take a couple hours to go through, especially as lines start to form around attractions. It's an incredible immersive experience.
I was unable to buy tickets online (poor planning on my behalf) but you are able to buy tickets for 16:00 at the exhibit even if they are fully booked. I showed up at 15:30 and was let in with my 16:00 ticket. They have lockers for 100jpy that you can store your stuff in (unless you have a kid I would do this, makes pictures better not lugging around a bag). And just a heads up to the skirt wearers out there there s really no warning like at their other exhibit (Planets) about the mirrored floors so you ve been warned. Lastly if the line for the Floating Nest is more than 20-30 minutes it might not be worth it. It uses the same music from an earlier exhibit and only lasts 5 minutes. As a person that stood in line for an hour and a half I was supremely underwhelmed. That being said the rest of the exhibit was amazing and if you get a chance to check out Planets a 45 minute experience on its own and less than 5km away I would highly suggest it.
The place is packed & it s near impossible to get pictures without other people.
The concept is great, just far too many people.
It s difficult to find too, in behind the big wheel.
A great place to visit. A very unique experience and fun place. Try to get there early as it gets crowded starting from around 11am. Some of the rooms have long line up, but the place is in general very well organized.
Was a good experience but gets abit hectic with alot of people, personally the photos look better then in real life but worth a try since you're already there. Booking beforehand is recommended
What an awesome and unique experience. Make sure to walk through the lily pads!!
A truly MAGICAL experience. Wish I couldn t spent ages here. Truly advanced Immersive interactive art. Would have loved to have professional photographers help with taking beautiful personalized photos at a charge. Also the 3 minute rule for the lantern room was INSANE. We were just barely let in before we were ushered out. Wish you d expand the exhibit or find another way to improve that part of the experience.
Outstanding experience. The scenes are in constant change so it's hard to tell wether you have already been in this corridor/pass or not. Not like any museum I ever visited
If you like light shows, this is a great experience. The tickets are bit pricey but you can easily spend 3-4 hours here at least or longer if you wanted to. Best to go on a weekday to avoid the larger crowds.
Incredible experience in visual art. Everyone should go.
Interesting experience with some beautiful and quirky displays, much larger than the exhibit in the Singapore ArtScience museum. The place was quite busy and very warm inside, especially in the athletic forest, so I would recommend storing your coat in the free lockers before heading in!
Unique experience that is really one of a kind. Building is very big with many different rooms. It is a sensory overload, and when it gets crowded can become very warm inside. But there are many rooms for taking breaks, to sit down with vending machines. You ll end up spending a few hours here if you look and try all the different rooms. For the price($28) it is well worth seeing this place! Awesome for taking pics for as well!
The place is must see in Tokyo. Although is touristy if you generally like art you will like it. It can definitely be seen and understood on many different levels, therefore could be interesting for everyone.
The fact is that all the visitors (including myself) become childish during visit :)
I sadly was quite disappointed from the experience. The displays are clearly technologically very challenging, and there is a lot of creativity behind them. What in the end put me off is that most exhibits try to overcome the boundaries of space but fail due to technical limitations. As a result, you get a Barbara Streisand effect - the failure to hide the limits of physical spaces (tiles of mirrors, edges of walls etc.) makes you painfully aware that you still are mostly in the confines of mundane rectangular walls, that you are looking down on mirrors, and that the projections still are limited by the maximum pixel granularity achievable in 2019. Ironically I was most drawn into the simplest exhibits as these were the ones where technical possibilities were fully adequate for the artistic aspirations. The audience best catered to might be kids - the athletic forest has quite a few activities specifically for kids.
I also noticed that some exhibits look really great on pictures - which makes me wonder if that is by accident or if we have reached a point where experiences are optimized for Instagram at the expense of the original, real-life experience in the first place!
On top of that, there are the crowds - which is obviously not the fault of the museum. Even on a Monday, I spent more time lining up than viewing. To see all exhibits, total queuing time probably exceeds 3 hours - so bring a fully charged mobile phone and toys for your kids! Also bring plenty of water if you don't want to buy it from vending machines - sadly there are no drinking fountains.
Just so amazing, words can't really describe it, do it!
So awesome! I recommend to everyone who visit/ lives in Tokyo to go and enjoy a great super cool experience.
Combine high tech with art... And you get digital art. Light effects were done with combination of animations using protections along the walls, floors and ceiling. They also use LEDs as well as colored moving spotlights for some displays. Very interesting display indeed.
Gosh darn spectacular. YES it's Instagram selfie madness inside. Whatever. Can you blame the hordes for wanting pics of themselves in this place? You'll want them too! I spent all dang diddly day here, jumping from room to room. Loved it. It truly is insanely massive and free-form. I missed out on the room with all the hanging lights due to the line being over an hour long! I waited for the nesting room instead, still a 50 minute wait. But IT WAS WORTH IT. I do wish they had different soundtracks for different spaces, it's all the same song which ends up detracting from the experience. Except for the wave room: that was completely separate and I could have stayed there for hours. I highly recommend you get a ticket and go EARLY. Loved it.
Imitative digital visual art. Some of the exhibitions take long time to queue. So be prepared and get there early to see all. Btw, wear sneakers as some parts of the floor are delicate mirror or trampoline.
This place is incredible. I know google want me to write 200 characters. But i have no words. Beautiful just go!!! And take your time in it. 3h is a must.
Could have spent the entire day here.
10,000 square ft of beauty and fun using digital projections to show different effects. My favorite area was the tea room where you order a cup of tea, and as it is poured, Cherry blossoms form. You pick up the cup to drink, and the petals fall away, onto the table and up the wall. Put the cup down, and the blossoms form once again. Mesmerizing.
A beautiful show, with so many different rooms, each one of them has a different light show, don't miss it! (And don't forget your umbrellas)
Amazing atmosphere! Loved the interactivity but could use better soundtrack music and more places to rest in between exhibits.
Truly terrific experience. Immersive, innovative and inspiring.
This is an EXPERIENCE. it s a digital art show that dances around you and it s divided into categories like the waterfall room, the butterfly room and on and on, some of the art let s you interact freely with it like the athletic field More
Not bad, but a very odd choice as the top-rated museum in Tokyo. There is one room that is like a steroid version of Yayoi Kusama, and it's pretty cool. Also a room for kids that is very good (for kids). But mostly this is a place that looks amazing on instagram and thus attracts the instagram set. In person it's a lot less impressive.
