Fabulous exhibition ruined by the negative staff attitude to children and zero consideration for the disabled or elderly. There is no wheelchair access, unforgivable in such a new site. My disabled mother was told she couldn't sit down or support herself leaning against a wall. Kids were constantly told not the run, climb, even in areas designed for children. We were shouted at through a megaphone and told exactly how to jump on the trampoline. Extremely Orwellian.

It is really amazing. Be sure to not give up exploring. We almost left but decided to walk through just in case and found more great areas. I still think we didn't see everything. There is no "map".

All in all this was a great experience. The "museum" was not what I expected at all and some parts of it were truly amazing. Then again, other parts did leave me slightly disappointed. Some parts had a very long queue for them, which I didn't want to bother waiting in, but the museum is large enough to be interesting anyways. It took several hours before we were confident we found most of the rooms.

Pros:

Pros:
Great art exhibit, must do while here. Bigger exhibit than teamLab Planets.
Friendly staff.

Cons: Instagrammer haven. Can get very crowded in each exhibit.

Note: there are 2 teamLab exhibits, Borderless and Planets. Make sure you verify which one you purchase because they are nowhere near each other!

Absolute highlight of my stay in Tokyo. A stunning interactive digital museum- I was completely blown away!

Access to the venue was a bit confusing using Google Maps, so follow the signs instead.

I would definitively revisit TeamLab and if you are visiting Tokyo, add this to your to-do list immediately!

Outrageous customer lack-of-service. Not the Japan I know and respect. Had to buy 2 (!!) sets of tickets for 4 (!!) people, because of type error.
No one to talk to, very humiliating experience. Requires immediate legal action.

Teamlab always delivers. This is their most ambitious project yet, and doesn't disappoint. Although consistently sold out, they limit the number of tickets so it doesn't really feel crowded (the Floating Pond exhibit, or whatever it's called, does have a bit of a wait, and is somewhat underwhelming so you could skip that)

We were here for the TeamLab exhibition in July 2018. The place is rather massive and is very accessible from the center of Tokyo. The luggage storage was free (with a deposit that you get back), and there are many other interesting things around the place itself.

Unlike any other museum I have ever seen. If in Tokyo its a must visit. You can spend hours there. Just make sure to get tickets in advance and arrive early. There is art moving everywhere and even in the same room it keeps changing so everytime you come back there will be something new.

Too busy to see it all comfortably even going in as soon as they opened. Staff lack some soft skill ability. Meant to be for kids in areas (athletic forest) but they don't allow kids to play freely. Fine for a look but Planets seemed better for young kids.

10/10 experience, would definitely go again. Well worth the time and money. It provides a very immersive experience. One thing to note is that the environment is really dark so caution must be exercised. The staff is very friendly and helpful and will try their best to accommodate to english speaking background tourists.

I purchased a night ticket and there is no actual indication of what time that really is in the ticket or on their website which is the only reason I rated a 4. A must visit otherwise! I spent more than 2 hours wandering all the rooms and revisiting others as they changed throughout the visit. Quite an experience.

Excellent! Would highly recommend - worth checking out if you're in Tokyo and even if you're not a big fan of art (its that impressive). I went in as a solo experience and I must say the whole feeling is very surreal. The exhibition is very immersive in terms of audio and visual senses. I spent perhaps over 6 hours in the complex and would definitely check it out again.

All the places inside are so mesmerizing. Must must go to this place if you're in Tokyo. Go there early so that you can be there for a long time. If you love taking photos, this is one of the places to be in Tokyo!

At peak times this exhibit is honestly not very enjoyable, unless maybe if you have small children. I would highly recommend visiting nearby teamLab Planets instead if you only have time for one or the other. Additionally, Planets leaves in fall of 2020 so if you have to choose, just keep in mind that Borderless isn't going anywhere.

I had to wait in a 30 minute long line outside prior to entry and they only stagger entrances by about 10 minutes with more than 50 people entering each time.
I think this exhibit would benefit highly from utilizing the timed entry method that Planets has, and perhaps maybe just selling fewer tickets (it's already recommended that you buy them online in advance anyhow).

Personally I also preferred the "on-rails" nature of the Planets exhibit as opposed to wandering around aimlessly, but your preference may differ.

Borderless does benefit from the fact that there is a ton of stuff to do around it. There's the ferris wheel, Venus Fort shopping mall and the Toyota exhibition hall all right next to each other in the same complex. Then less than 5 minutes walk is another massive shopping mall with indoor theme parks.

This place is absolutely awesome, there were whole exhibits we never saw because you just get lost in the environment they create! Make sure to go to the tea bar! Also prepare to be there far a long time. Because you literally get lost.

What an incredible place. TeamLab must be on your to-go list when you visit Tokyo. Go there for a few hours and just explore the place. Try to avoid weekends when it s packed and don t forget to get a ticket to the tea room. An unforgettable experience.

This place was SO COOL!! We had the best time there. Could ve spent my whole day there. Each room is unique and breath taking! Get there early as the line gets long fast. We were there an hr before and there was already 40ish people in front of us! The artists responsible for these experiences have serious talent!

Would not recommend it. Too crowded and too many people who are just there to take a million photos. Also waiting times are too long. Place is clearly only made so people can fill there instagram page.

A digital museum you d wonder? So did I, when I had no clue about such a setup. But this one turned out to be too good to be missed when we were essentially roaming in and around Tokyo for all these days. And yet we couldn t visit all the attractions inside due to the paucity of time.

TeamLab Borderless is the world s first digital art exhibition located at Aomi, Tokyo. The museum which has been setup by the TeamLab s group of architects, animators, mathematicians and programmers offers a very unique and immersive experience to the viewers, by projecting colourful imagery and motion pictures on all the six sides of the room, augmented with sound and lighting inside a pitch-dark interior. This is achieved by using over 450 high-lumen Epson 3LCD projectors connected to 500 PCs for about 60 individual artworks spread over a 10,000 sq m space. As viewers walk into each space, the artwork responds to the person s presence and the movement. If there are multiple people in the room, the lighting changes based on their movements.

This experience was totally worth it. If you are in Tokyo, you must visit this place. It will take about 3 hours tops and is located right next to the giant Ferris wheel.

Visited in 2018, one of the best museums I've ever been to. A true experience. Unfortunately the staff was a bit too helpful... Their strict wardship is counterproductive for a museum - a place where you should be free to wander around and take it all in. This problem becomes even bigger because of all the crowds. How is one supposed to appreciate the art? When they fix these problems you may expect a five star review!

absolutely amazing experience! totally worth going to. So many different rooms with cool effects. They also have interactive sections. Heels aren't permitted on those activities, so would avoid wearing if you want to participate. Great place for kids and adults.

Super super crowded. We waited about an hour to enter. I think it was about $29 and we got tickets online. The exhibits were beautiful, we had a great time nonetheless. It just sucks that there are so many people but it makes sense. I think it's worth one visit :)

Great place to enjoy the lightings and the themes were really great. You can take photos but without flash and should not use selfie stick or tripods. I would suggest, instead of taking photos, enjoy the experience.

Lockers available to put your stuff in for 100 yen. Refunded when you take your stuff back out. Bathrooms available inside.

Expect long lines to exhibits and crowds everywhere.

The actual exhibits were pretty cool and some were even interactive so that art you made would show up on the screens. Just imagine screens all over the walls with a screensaver playing.

They should do timed entry like planets so there wouldn't be so many people. They should also turn up the ac inside because it got warm with such large crowds.

I also checked out the teahouse, but I'd save a trip and pass on it.

If I had a choice, I'd choose planets over borderless, but if I had the time, I'd do both.

Worth it! Love it! Must be here!
Come early like 9:30 . First group will get better pictures. It's will take about one and a half hours. Must see TEA HOUSE. It's located somewhere in the dark. The line will be really long after 12.

Completely magical experience! Some of the exhibits have queues so it's best to go early to beat the rush on some of the popular exhibits. Also there is no map if the place (which is by design) so ask the staff for directions to any exhibits you can not find. Depending on how crowded it is plan to stay around 3-4 hours to really see everything. While they have a tea service for an extra charge (totally worth it!), they do not serve food but I was told you can leave and come back in, but I would ask and confirm before you try that. Enjoy!

I went there on Sunday 11:00am and waited about 20 minutes to enter. There was another wait for 30 minutes before we entered Forest of Lams but it was worth doing so. My 3 year old daughter also enjoyed Athletic Forest and other areas for children.

Absolutely wonderful. Very suited for singles and couples who want to experience great digital art in peaceful surroundings. Tickets can be bought at the entrance and there is not alot of people at any time, you have practically the place for your self. Great place to be, if you want to escape the noise, hassle and crowds of Tokyo and especially other tourists.

Great exhibition, absolutely worth the entry fee and waiting time! Plan to stay at least three hours if you want to experience all of it. There is also an interactive section at the end where you get to do some fun activities.

A bit disappointing. The experience and the projections itself were nice, but I had to pay 3,200 yen to stand in line 30 minutes before getting in to then realize that some of the rooms had waiting lines of 50+mins. The nice thing is that you're totally free to explore the whole building at your own pace. There is also a tea house that offers an interactive visual tea drinking experience, but the tea is not included in the ticket so you have to pay another 500 yen. I would suggest you go early or late, because I came at 2pm and it was crowded as hell.

The art and concept are great, the execution is very good. A few rooms were absolute standouts. The biggest issue is the amount of people that are allowed in every day.

We pre-booked tickets online but were still made to line up in the rain for half an hour before getting inside. Even then we waited another 20min.

Whilst inside it s awkward to get around when it s very busy. The Lamp Forest was a 45min line up for 2min inside (they rotate people out).

The experience is negatively impacted when people are filling up the spaces and unlike other museums and galleries around the world, this place doesn t seem to be considering this.

It s almost a huge social experiment in people herding and a social commentary on what people do in modern art experiences - walk around with both arms out taking videos and selfies (or wearing Go Pros in their heads).

I wanted the experience to be better, but it really suffered due to the overcrowding.

Amazing place for all ages. There is some kind of magic in every room. Go back to the same room multiple time and it will probably have change. Follow the animation trough the corridor and they will change the room they enter.

Full of activity, very well designed. Just wish there were less people and more interactivity with the lights.

Fairly boring. The concept is interesting, but the realisation is quite simplistic, and oh boy IT'S VERY CROWDED at 11 am workday. Staff is rather rude (not that it concerned me anyhow, but those I saw were passive aggressive). If you like being in Tokyo Metro at the rush hour, then you should go. Overpriced as well. 3200 Yen for this, oh my.

A MUST SEE IN TOKYO. Get your tickets in advance and make sure you do not miss an exhibit! Just an absolutely incredible space. Immersive, beautiful, ever-changing art that teaches you about the world around you in no way you've ever seen before. 15/10 would visit again!

Too crowded. Waited ok long for outside line, but too long for some of the inside rooms. Overall cool for 1st time viewers, but with this too much effort queueing and waiting, not so worthy.

Absolutely crazy and wonderful. The line looks scary to get in, we were wrapped down the stairs and around the block, but it only took about 30 minutes. Plan to spend 2-3 hours in the amazing exhibit.

A little confusing to move around but that makes it even better, you dont know what you are going to run into in the next room and that makes it really fun. The only problem was that is really crowded but its definley worth it.

An amazing experience, a something you should go if you ever in Tokyo, y out have to be there is the only explanation I should give. You should buy it online in advance because it gets very crowed and may risk on not be able to enter.

Amazed at how much time and effort they spent into putting on a light show for the general public to see. Some of the rooms were interactive and a great place to bring your kids to see this amazing show.

Simply wonderful and beautiful place. Teamlab never fails to amaze you with their imagination and smart use of your senses. Yes it s touristy and yes it s very common to find people use photos here for Instagram and tinder to look wanderlusty . Don t let this labels detract you from coming here. It s really quite something.

Exceptional. Unforgettable. I could have easily spent 5 hours here just exploring all the rooms and effects. The way the different rooms interact and how they each change is incredible, I wouldn't have thought it possible. The only downside (though still not enough to take it down from a 5) is that even with tickets, we were queueing for at least 30 minutes.

What an amazing experience. Spectacular, otherworldly visuals coupled with beautiful entrancing music makes this destination a MUST for all Tokyo-goers.

My only worry would be that if you get overwhelmed by flashing lights, loud noises, or strange visual experiences, this may not be the place for you. It isn't seizure-inducing by any means, but the lights, noises and motion of the exhibit can be a lot to take in all at once.

It truly is food for the senses. Its something you have to experience to understand. Don't pass this up if your in Tokyo! It will not disappoint. Word of advice: Go early! People line up long before it opens and the wait in line (even with tickets) gets longer as the day goes on. But it's so worth it!

No need to go in the morning. Lines are VERY long and it could perfectly be an afternoon activity as it is all indoors. We left space around 3ish-4pm and there where barely any lines.
The experience is extremely nice. Very unique and different. A MUST if you visit Tokyo.
Teamlab recommends you to download app so you can interact with art. This was quite disappointing, as it wouldnt work at all.
Great to go with kids, too. The whole family had a lot of fun.

Surprisingly good. The layout is well thought through and the exhibits are thought provoking. My only wish is that there are fewer people. Expect to spend 2-3 hours depending on the size of the crowd. If you have kids, you may need more time. Expect to be lost too. That s part of the fun.

One of the coolest art museums I have seen in my life! Absolute stunning and absolutely worth the waiting and queuing. The art works move and interact with you in a very funny way. Please order a tea is is amazing what happens when you put-it down on the surface! Please go there it is an absolutely must in Tokyo not only if you love art or technology!

At first I thought it was a waste of money but I was wrong. There are plenty of things here that will trigger the senses. I would come here early to experience everything otherwise prepare to wait 40 plus minutes for certain exhibitions
