Fantastic. Could have spent all day getting lost here
Totally out of this world place. I ve spent there 4 hours. And that s just because it was closing. Come as early as possible.
A must visit in Tokyo! It is a bit of a jaunt to get there, but absolutely worth it. Plan to spend a couple hours here, definitely not something you want to rush. Try to get there right at the opening. We came on New Years Day a few minutes after 10am when they opened and for the most part were able to walk right in. When we left around 12:30pm, there was a much longer wait (line went outside) and the museum was certainly busier on the inside. Ticket price is well worth it!
Superb experience. Digital art museum for adults n children
Great experience about digital art. It is better to buy tickets previously to avoid the long queu! Inside there is an installation that you need to do a queu too. But I think it is better to enjoy the rest of the installations! It is ggod for couples or families too. It is better to go after 3 pm.
Wow! Great experience with lighting art as its name "borderless"
Incredible experience. I ve never been to a museum that can be comparable to this one
Super trippy and really cool digital art museum. Gets crowded AF in a short amount of time, but is badass.
My overall experience was great, but prepared for long line ups to view certain displays...It could go from anywhere 30 mins wait to even an hour long or more. One thing I would suggest is that you should prebuy tickets beforehead, my friends and I made the mistake of going there on the day of and it was sold out a few days ahead...therefore, plan accordingly! Also there was a long line up outside to get into the exhibition, about 30-40 mins wait, they let people in batches.
Incredible experience!!!! Worth every penny. Please take into account which are the best hours to visit, because the museum is usually quite crouded
Team lab is great for kids. But book beforehand as queues are long
Excellent visual experience, had some wait times and is a little pricey
pre-purchased tickets online, still have waited half hour in line. My exibition experience is however great !
Not worth the hype! Especially the room with lanterns, been waiting in the line for 30 mins and was only allowed to stay there for 50 seconds, totally disappointing!! Not recommended
Best experience EVER !
If I could go everyday, I would !
Beautiful lights and sounds, they even have activities.
Very relaxing, mesmerizing !
Weekends can be crowded but it s worth it .
I went twice and wanna go again before it ends !
Go ! Go ! Go !
Beautiful. Just be prepared to feel lost as you roam around. Which, I'm guessing, is part of the "immersive" experience.
I was carrying a 10-kg 1 year-old in my arms (because you can't bring a stroller) throughout the experience for 2 hours, and I still had a wonderful time.
This was a unique experience, it was well organized from start to finish and they definitely had a good way to manage the crowd so it does not feel too packed i side the rooms. We spent about 1.5hrs and managed to see each room twice (recommended as the artwork changes overtime).
Some of the room are definitely better than others. The ones with large projections on the walls were of lower quality and the image was grainy. The rest however were very cleverly designed and we enjoyed them a lot.
Overall, I think the price is a bit steep for what they have to offer but I would go again for the uniqueness of it.
It is excellent and absolutely worth. Interactive sights are fun to go with friends and completely worth the high cost
Loved this exhibition! If you are in Tokyo it's a must do!
One of the most jaw dropping interactive exhibits I have ever seen. Amazing use of projectors and LEDs to mesmerize you.
My experience here was in the Borderless Art Exhibit by teamlab in Nov 2018. The building is a part of a larger complex featuring Toyota car building, restaurants, shopping, a ferris wheel, etc.
I felt the quality of the exhibition was very nice and the staff were friendly. There were rest areas for moms with kids and places to duck in for a vending machine drink too.
I would highly recommend this as a way to spend a day, especially since Odaiba and other shopping areas are around the area too.
Overrated, long queues everywhere. Terrible crowd management, had to wait outside in the rain even with pre-booked tickets. Everybody got drenched and then you get forced to spend more money just to lockup your soaked gear. Then you get to walk around, line up some more, and rub shoulders with everyone else's wet clothes...Mirrors, projects, and lights garbage.
Too far from the downtown center and in mu opinion it does not worth the price. This place is for people that like to post in instagram. Period.
Believe it or not, this was a highlight or our trip. Had a great time exploring this amazing creation. Very well done. Make sure to book ahead.
I had high expectations of this place and they were still exceeded. Truly a wonderful experience. Although there were many people there, the space is very large and so it didn t feel too crowded. The smaller exhibition rooms are regulated so as not too get too crowded. Very cool.
If you are usually a lover/appreciator of art galleries, do not go here. The entire thing feels like one big gimmick - room after room of pixelated graphics projected onto a wall, rotating slowly. Although the borderless environment and hidden doors do seem cool at first, they soon become frustrating, especially with the hundreds of tourists trying to get a low-light selfie for the gram. We waited half an hour to get into the Forest of Lamps, when to our increasing disappointment, it was just a room with colourful lights. In my opinion, this is NOT art. Our biggest regret is that it ended up costing us about $50AUD.
Extraordinary ... So tranquil. Visual treat and a must visit to experience the aura and to travel along and have a next level art fun ..
A very eye opening exhibition. Everything was done with lights. A very cool show and it's never the same since the lights keeps moving. There are many rooms for all ages including climbing and area for kids to run around, and you can almost spend time making your own drawing to make it alive in the room. Entry is roughly 30usd, and you need to head there before the exhibition open to avoid the long line. You can also find deals on the internet. Great place to spend at least 2 hours there!!
Unique exhibition, visit it before its gone! One of a kind, we spent 5 hours there and didn't even explore half of it
Waited over an hour even having purchased online tickets a month beforehand. It is too crowded to appreciate the artworks. May worth going during weekdays but weekends is a no no.
Great place for kids to run around. Kids off all ages, even adults
Overall concept is very unique and attractive but maybe the control of the number of people inside could be managed better.
Its a fun experience with family/friends. My cousins and I spent quite some time at the room where you draw and they scan it so you can see it float around the room. The experience would ve been more enjoyable if there was a map so it would be easier to locate the rooms, for a while it felt like it was an escape room cause we didn t know where the exits were . It would also be great if you go at a time when it s less crowded, we went on a Sunday afternoon so the influx of people made it harder to get into all the rooms (there were long lines in some rooms). But overall, it was fun! If you re patient you can get decent photos and if you re lucky you get some rooms to yourself!
Amazing experience! We spent more than 5 hours in the museum, everytime we thought we ve been in every room we discovered a new one- so make sure to explore all the corners. It really is a special experience. We came around 10 AM, there was a long line but it moved pretty fast, 20 minutes later we were inside. It is always busy so be patient and don t expect to be alone there like in some photos you see online.
This was the most amazing experience I have had. The colours, sounds, and interactive displays were otherworldly. I would recommend anyone going to Tokyo go here. It is more than worth the price. Limited amount of tickets per day ensure you can see everything it has to offer. A stunning labyrinth!
If you're skipping this because its "tourist-y", don't. I wasn't keen on visiting initially but going there was amazing. However its worth noting that I went to teamLab Borderless for an event so it was when there weren't many people and I heard it gets rrally packed in regular days. Don't let this stop you though! The place is an experience!
For an experience titled Borderless, all I could see were the borders... to echo another review, about 80% of it is projections and are not interactive at all. You can see the edges of walls and floors and ceiling and scaffolding so the illusion disappears pretty quick. There were a couple of moments of immersion, mainly in the room with the hanging strings of LED lights. It s neat how things evolve as you walk through and a room will have changed if you come back. I also liked the free flowing nature of it and not having a map. People complaining about missing a room too bad? If the line for the Floating Nest is long skip it, super underwhelming. Unfortunately this isn t as captivating as you d hope, given the website and all the social media buzz etc. Doesn t help that there are countless Instagrammers doing photo shoots and then the staff yelling through radios and megaphones for people to behave. I think it s worth seeing as a multimedia installation, but don t set your expectations to mind-blown. Partly it felt dated? Probably best to come back in 10-20 years when the projections are replaced by LED screens and you can actually interact with the environment.
Really unique place to experience and get photos, especially for social media. Some of the rooms are amazing. The use of lights, elevation changes, LEDs, sound, mirrors, and so on play with your vision and depth. Some rooms are total flops though, but I don't know how often they change.
Also it's easy to walk around in circles, seeing the same things over and over again, which makes you feel lost. When you want to move on to a new room, it gets annoying.
A great way to spend a few hours. Immersive, interactive digital projects in a mostly high ceiling space. Kind of maze-like, you will go in a few circles, look out for arrows or signs with a walking person in green, or ask one of the staff if you re looking for something in particular. The athletic forest has many physically required exhibits (a lot of things for the kids, but still enjoyable for adults too).
Some rooms/projects have separate queues after entering the museum (though it wasn t too prohibitive.. was told it would be about an hour wait for the floating nest, timed at about 35 minute.. this was after it began to get busy).
En Tea is right before the athletic forest; your drink will cost an extra 5yen to purchase, but worth it as a nice break and to watch digital flowers bloom in your cup (had the green tea latte, tasted great).
I d recommend getting there early. Waited about 50 minutes after arriving at 10:40am with a pre-booked ticket. Though the line was measurably shorter when I left around 3pm, it was much hotter and no part of the line was in the shade.
Though it seems daunting, the staff was super organized and kept everything running smooth so a bit of wait should be manageable, I think it s worth the trip :)
Unbelievable. Get lost in the lights. You won't regret giving this place a chance! Really great experience!
Too crowded. Not sure why they are selling so many tickets. There are a lot of lines inside so you cannot really see everything unless you will wait there's all day.
This place was amazing! Give yourself a lot of time to enjoy it as it is quite big
Amazing! You must go. Make sure to go early as it gets really busy and sells out.
Highly recommended. Music was a nice surprise as part of the experience.
Very beautiful place. It will take your perspective into different corner
Overall its nice experience, but the queue and time is limited.
Unreal, truly one of a kind experience. Loved every second of it, would recommend to anyone.
Refund is not available, think twice before you pay for the ticket. This is very bad experience, this exhibition is terrible, wasting time & money of my travel.
Given the crowd and the price it was just okay.
I went during a less busy time where I went straight in upon arrival. The place has no maps and you need to explore to find the different rooms. This concept I really liked because it is very engaging. However, if you're like me who cares about the experience more than pictures to get likes, you will find this place exceedingly frustrating and overrated. This is situation where the pictures looks better than reality. In reality you can see all the wear and tear from the volume of people and how the lights are very flat minus a few rooms. The awe and dreaminess captured in the pictures is not the real life experience.
The location is also somewhere very inconvenient and expensive to get to. There are better places to go in Tokyo for something like this that's free and convenient.
Amazing! Stacks of people but this place is big enough to feel like you're not crammed in. Get there at opening time so that you can jump in the queues for the time based exhibitions first (like the lantern room - you only get a few minutes inside this room). You could spend hours in here! Take your time and really immerse yourself in all that this place has to offer. There are lockers at the entry that staff will ask you to put big luggage in. It is very dark inside the building so if you have vision impairment this may not be safe for you.
Lost in fantasy world. So great. I want to go and see it again and again
We had a great time with our kids. Our favorite was coloring pictures of animals and then seeing digital images of them float through the room.
Despite their efforts this exhibit is boring and repetitive. The upstairs is called "athletic forest", I was excited to see how they incorporated Athletics into art... Not so much. If your idea of athletics is a colo(u)ring book, you'll love it. I did a similar exhibit at the Skyview tower two ywrsy ago, it was free and much better. Don't waste your time here.
The line looks long but it moves quickly. Get your tickets online. Very different experience; like nothing I've been to before
This is a must-see for kids and grown up kids. Plan to spend 4 hours here but you could easily spend 8.
Amazing place where you don't even realise the time as it's so vast. The idea of no path makes it a wonderland for anyone who comes. Don't research, just enjoy the place.
A must when in Tokyo ! Be ready to spend 3 hours or more here but it s all worth it! Highly recommend going , you won t regret it!
Could easily spend an entire day just getting lost in there.
Beautiful displays and artwork which have an element of interactivity as well. Plenty of hands on action and fun for all ages.
Be prepared for crowds though, but unsurprising after you spend a few days in Japan.
A great museum but a very long queue to get in even though tickets need to be bought in advance.
I absolutely loved this entire building and spent longer than 1.5 hours but could have spent 10x longer. The only difficulty was finding our way around. We didn t get to see the tea room for example. They should have designed it better, so that there s one pathway that people follow to hit all the spots. We did see a balloon room, a crystal room, a wave room, and a lily pad room, all of which were unique and stunning! So glad I went.
Great place for kids, there are multiple exhibitions , however no map exists. So check the team lab website to know what to look for and ask staff for help.
There is a TEA HOUSE which serves nice tea with flowers blooming in there -
Personally I enjoyed team lab PLANETS much more than BORDERLESS.
Finally, when you get out of monorail, continue into the mall and you will see the team lab place. Don't use Google maps
A fun experience for anyone, kids and adults. Only downside is the amount of tourists. Almost impossible to get a decent shot without someone walking in the way.
amazing place to visit. must see if you visit Tokyo. buy tickets and get there early. kind of a maze... go to the special rooms first.
This is an Instagram HAVEN! If you want to level up your IG feed, go to this place. Their exhibits are out breathtaking!
Amazing light and physical experience
Indoor play areas
Perfect for all ages
Awesome use of tech and lights. Spent 4 hrs enjoying teamLab boarderless. Had to ask directions to find upstairs
No words to describe the feeling of happiness inside the borderless teamlabs
Nothing that I could possibly show is going to explain how amazing this art exhibit is. Wonderful for all ages, I'd recommend going on a weekday to avoid the crowds. Finding the hidden rooms is a fantastic treat.
A unique experience for everyone to see at least once
Immerse yourself in a digital world, draw fantastic creatures or flowers and make them a part of the installation.
I give it a 4-star because it was nice but not mind-blowing (despite the hype). It's an OK experience for me. Queued an hour for the floating nest and it was meh. Finished the whole Musuem in 3 hours or less. Needs to have more fun and interactive activities
Incredible experience! One of the best places to visit while in tokyo, the wait, the price, everything is worth it. Take my money! p.s get ready to take 5,000 pics
Ticket price is around 3200 Yen, it is recommended that you spend the whole day here. For kids, there are a lot of activities options.
My kids loved it!! The only thing I would complain about would be that I wished it was cooler inside and there was a place for sitting. My legs were so tired. I'd go again. Great place to take photos and enjoy the lights.
Do not think twice - JUST GO!
This place is beyond imagination, and words cannot begin to describe the experience at TeamLab borderless!
What they have achieved is so commendable!
Few points to keep in mind -
1. Carry some water to keep yourself hydrated. They do have break areas with vending machines. We bought a bottle of water cuz it has a unique bottle and keep it as a souvenir.
2. Carry a bar of chocolate or some snacks. You will be spending the entire day here, and they don't have any kiosks selling food!
3. Arrive early - You need to get yourself in as early as possible. The popular attractions have queues as long as 70-80 mins. If you get in early, you can beat the crowds and have some beautiful photo-ops!
4. Make a beeline to the attractions you want to visit and then take your time through the remaining.
5. Try avoiding weekends, they are insanely crowded! If you cannot do that, ensure you're literally the first person stepping in!
6. Wear light colour clothing - lot of LED and light shows, and the colours would come out beautifully (for photos) with white/light coloured clothing!
7. Most Important - wear comfortable shoes! You're going to be on your feet all day! Some of the attractions require you to take off heels as well. Wear a pair of comfortable shoes and you're good to go!
DO NOT MISS THIS!
Make the most of the trip!
Overall really good experience, couple of the categories were good and couple of them were average. The infinite Crystal universe and the forest of resonating lamps are must see in these categories. Only pain is there is a huge waiting time for lamps theme and they allow only 2 minutes inside the lamp forest.
Amazing! I loved this place really glad we visited on our birthday. You could spend hours going round and re visiting rooms as it's always changing. Try touching everything as you never know what it is interactive. Also do consider that some of the rooms have waiting times, we arrived about half an hour after opening and it was already really busy, a couple of the rooms we had to wait for 50 minutes
Huge place which can handle the huge crowds that it rightly attracts. Well organised, free flowing and great fun. Instagram heaven.
Amazing place and wonderful spot for photos. I really reccomend this exhibition, it's a really fun thing to do in Tokyo.
I totally loved it.
The most beautiful experience I ever had. Sometimes was difficult to understand what you had to do since the staff wasn't able to speak English, but I didn't really care. There were some members of the staff who could speak in English anyway, but for example, for the climbing"game" the explanation was all in Japanese and the English text wasn't really helpful, however it was enough.
I loved everything of that experience and I'd like to recommend it to everyone. Please go
A must-see experience in Japan. All of the exhibits are amazing and I have never felt so exhilarated and overwhelmed. Definitely have to get there early to avoid the long lines for the Forest of Lanterns and Floating Nest. Waited in line for an hour each to see both of them.
An experience you must try if you are in Tokyo, amazing!
Very cool exhibit and well organized. It was extremely crowded when we visited, resulting in lines for several of the areas/activities.
The borderless digital art gallery was so much fun. I spent about 3 hours total here to do everything. It was a very unique experience and something I won't soon forget. And it's great for all ages, kids will have just as much fun as the adults. It was well worth the price tag. Really have to be there to truly understand what it's like, no pictures will really do it justice.
Really fun experience! Went on a Tuesday to avoid crowd, however; still waited around 20-30 minutes to get in. The most popular room took a little over 1 hour to get into. A bit confusing because it is very dark in some areas and couple of rooms were empty. Overall spent about 3 hours here. Great place for families but expect long lines
Awesome experience! Recommend booking ahead and avoiding peak times. Highly recommend a visit.
Unforgettable experience with light effect, really impressive, totally worth it
Great museum. There will be lines, and it may be warm, so plan accordingly, but overall, it was well worth checking it out. Lots of lights, and Instagramable' opportunities. Be mindful of where you go, as some sections are for kids only, and may not be obvious to none Japanese speakers or readers.
