Went there on a Thursday night. I wondered how long the food on the train had been there as the sushi/sashimi was not cold and the hot food was not hot - everything was room temperature. We stopped after a couple plates and went across the road for noodles instead!

It's okay. Food was a bit expensive, and they could have done a better job with the rice (not seasoned at all) and the Miso soup (lacking) The chicken katsu is quite nice though, among the better chicken katsu I've had.
Great big train and huge selection of sushi and many other dishes. Staff deliberately avoid making eye contact and we left early because we were unable to order anything more or talk to them.
Tao is a very solid restaurant, located right next to the IGA, and a walking distance from the Park Centre. They offer Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, sushis, etc. The restaurant has a convenient sushi train in centre with comfortable comfy seats right up close (a personal favourite spot of mine). Tao's menu, atmosphere and name seem to be to generic and what I mean by this is there are to many items on the menu and because of this all meals seem okay like a light five out of ten. If Tao could narrow this down it could not only help them realise what they want to focus on, it could significantly raise the quality of their dishes to at least a 7. Overall is decent with plenty of room to improve but would come again :)
Worst sushi train ever..Food on train has no expiry date and after eating a room temperature dish which we assumed was chicken i questioned the staff member asking him how do you know how long the food has been on the train for and he answered saying it was all 3 to 4 o'clock this was 8 pm! And there is no other system or method of tracking age or temperature of food..This is a joke especially seeing there were oysters 5 hours old that werent even cold! I immediately told off the staff and left...Extremely poor standards..
Quite good. Nice open atmosphere. There is a fairly large amount of space and not over crowded. Prices are good. Staff are nice and helpfull. Food was good. Its best to order anything fried or get it when it gets put on the sushi train as with any sushi train fried stuff gets cold quickly
The food had some hits & misses, overall average. The soup of the wanton noodles was flavoursome & the noodles of the spicy beef noodles was silky smooth. However, the beef slices in the noodles were tough & dry. The fried items on the belt was cold & no longer crispy, obviously had been on the belt for a long time. The sushi & sashimi were fine. The beer on tap which was on the menu was not available which was a shame as well.
Tao's have always been great, tried both East Vic Park and Subiaco. They're both great. Will make anything on the train fresh for you upon request, and never had a bad meal from the menu either. Good prices and always courteous staff. Will go back time after time.
Very good Thai and Vietnam restaurant. Sushi train is fresh with lots of choice. Actually the Japanese food cook here is not that great. And in overall, the price is little bit high, compare what they offer
This is one the very few restaurants that I've been in Perth where your actual meal is way better than how you expect or what you see on the menu. Everything we ordered were delicious: this is an understatement. Special thanks to Ali who somehow accommodated 8 of us who walked in on a busy Saturday night without reservations. Well mannered friendly service. Thanks to the kitchen and front staff.
This is a great restaurant. They have a huge sushi train, but you can order anything you like as well. Lots of delicious Asian food at very reasonable pricing. Excellent service from very professional staff. We live nearby and this is our staple.
I am a single person from QLD on holiday in Perth and decided to go out for dinner near where I was staying. It was Valentine s Day and I decided I wasn t going to sit in my room and sulk... I was going to go out and have a nice meal. I chose Tao after my original choice was booked solid. I went in and asked for a table for one and was met with a very judgemental look from the waitress and a large sigh as she looked for a place for me to sit. When she sat me she didn t give me a menu and I tried for 10 mins to get someone s attention just to get a menu. I ordered a Gyoza entree and a laksa main. After ordering the food arrived quite quickly, however the main arrived before the entree. The laksa was an absolute ridiculous size, pretty much a bucket. It didn t even look like I had touched it by the time I finished. Monumental waste of food if I didn t ask for it to be put in a takeaway container (which also seemed like a massive effort for them). The food quality was also lackluster considering the price you pay (chicken in the laksa definitely not fresh).
Nothing to speak about service wise but I did expect a good sushi however the quality was way below the average. I have tired multiple sushi places in city that I wont name them in here, but honestly, you need to up your game. Most of sushi s we had were soggy, wet and terrible. Seafood was charged massive prices but it was rubbery and awful.
Great sushi and good price for each plate. The atmosphere is very nice, I really enjoy it. The staffs are very friendly, usally crowded over here. One thing is that the food from the menu, they have wide range of food from each country so I think it's not what they specialize on. Therefore the food tatse a bit not too good, just average and some is not even what it is. But then still it's not a major problem to me.
1. Terrible customer service and short of staff. For example, we waited at the front for more than 5 mins to be seated even it's not busy inside. Then more than 20mins to have the water that we asked, and we had to ask several times. 2. Food is awesome, the Vietnamese noodle soup tastes very plain but msg, pat tai is very sour. 3. Price is higher than that in ToTo next door to it. 4. The waitress is very rude.
Tao is the place for you if you couldn t make up your mind of what to eat for lunch or dinner as it offers a mixture of cuisines for you to choose from - from Japanese to Vietnamese to Thai to Chinese, etc. Sushi train is also accessible here. It is a restaurant for family, friends and couples.
A nice place to bring family and friends to enjoy a variety of Japanese, Vietnamese and Chinese food. Aside from their menu you can choose from their sushi train for a more enjoyable experience. Each plate has corresponding color code for their price.
Came last Saturday for lunch, we were seated promptly but we were waiting 10 minutes for our order to be taken; the staff were talking amongst themselves and we were trying to waive someone down to have our order taken but were still being ignored even when we said excuse me as staff walked past (people that came in after us were being served and other diners were being attended to and as it was about 1:30pm ish it wasn t even busy). After waiting another 10 minutes we eventually just walked out and went to another restaurant. It was a shame because I have been before and the food was pretty decent and I was looking forward to trying the tom yum.
A family friendly restaurant with a diverse range of options. The sushi train was long and well stocked, and we were able to order gluten free dishes off the menu for the person who was gluten intolerant. Staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is good.
Ordered uber eats from these people, the description says I will get four kinds of nigiri tuna, salmon, prawns and scallops as well as a crab claw, I got none of that only some tuna and salmon. FAIL.
Service wasn't too great and prices for menu food is pretty pricey compared to other places. I had the pad thai and it had way too much of the sauce that they put in it. Menus they gave out were also pretty dirty with the menu I had having sauce and a piece of onion on one of the pages. I've been here about 3 or 4 times and I don't know what it is but the tables always feel dirty to me. Probably not going to be back here again anytime soon.
We took our daughter there for her 16th birthday, food was fantastic. Staff are super friendly and to top it off all the staff came out and sang Happy Birthday with a cake and candle, doesn"t get any better. Highly recommend going there
Tao are a mini-chain of restaurants, they have a sushi train setup (if you want a booth by the train, call ahead) and also cook to order.. The chef's here are top notch and the servings are generous (though they seem to have shrunk a little over the last 6 - 9 months)
